Sharna Burgess Chats On Nick Carter’s Challenges As A Ballroom Dancer And More On Dancing With The Stars

Sharna Burgess talked with One Avenue TV about her Dancing With The Stars partnership with Nick Carter. Below she answers questions about what it was like to find out she was dancing with a Backstreet Boy and how much he contributes to their dance themes and moves.

As all of us wonder, we did ask her that did she ever think she will be dancing with a Backstreet boy ever?

“Oh my goodness,no! Growing up as a 13 yr old I was a huge fan as a teenager and used to copy their dance moves and never thought in a million years that I will be on DWTS one day and end up dancing with Nick Carter. We get celebrities on show and sometimes I am not familiar with them as I have not grown up with them, or not heard of them since I am from Australia, but, Nick Carter is certainly someone I know very well. It is surreal to think that one minute I am copying his dance steps when I am 13 and next minute I am teaching him how to dance for a competition on Dancing With The Stars.”

Nick being an entertainer with his dance experience on his Backstreet Boy days, does he contributes in thinking over the dance themes/moves with Sharna or no?

“When it comes to ballroom dancing, Nick has no idea about it and has not much to contribute. With cha cha we had a backstreet tribute. It excited me and we threw it in there and he trusts me to make the decision as far as the dancing goes. It’s a whole different ball game when singing, dancing at same time and then, dancing on a competition. It’s a completely different style of dance than to what he is used to.”

“Even after having issues on Monday night, I was proud of Nick as he kept going, shows he is a true entertainer”

PureDWTS Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Chats With Us About Nick Carter And Dancing With The Stars

Did you know that Sharna Burgess’ Mom was forever trying to find her when she was a toddler? It’s true, but, we’ll let her tell you all about it in more fun details in our new exclusive interview with her below!! Also, Sharna answers questions about her new Dancing With The Stars partner Nick Carter, what makes a season the most successful, and lots more!! Without Further ado, here’s Sharna. We can’t thank her enough for her time!!! Thanks to all who submitted such fun and interesting questions for her as well. ~Vogue

Hi everyone!!!! Wow what a start to an awesome season!!  I hope you all had an amazing summer!! And if you’re in LA, a continued one…. Jeez the heat dial broke at some point because it’s been crazy here!! I almost can’t wait for that sweater weather!!

DWTSGossip: What makes a season the most successful in your opinion?

That is an interesting question! I guess many would say winning the mirror ball 😉 but coming from someone that considers having had many successful seasons (not all… let’s be honest) I would disagree! Honestly, if we can give someone the experience of a lifetime, see them grow as dancers and as people throughout their journey, then I consider that successful. We all want to win, it’s in our nature, but in 20 years’ time, it won’t just be the dusty mirror ball that’s special, it will be the memories made and the friendships kept.

How do you think this season’s changes will affect the dynamic of the show?

IT’S ALREADY CHANGED!!! OMG … with TWO dances in week 2, we are all under a lot of pressure this week and you can feel how tough it’s been on a lot of people. Nick and I didn’t rehearse on Tuesday and we had camera blocking on Saturday so we had 4 DAYS to get 2 DANCES together. Even with the talented Mr. Carter it has been very stressful. I’m not saying I like it, but, I do think it makes for great TV, and it puts the pressure on earlier which is kinda exciting for our viewers.

On a different side, I love that the pros have been given the opportunity to have a dance be about us, and the package about us! That never happens and we are all very grateful for it. It means that you all get to know a little bit about us, and I think that’s really special. Mine is about the town I grew up in and my family. …Read more

Sharna Burgess Talks To US Weekly About Nick Carter And Dancing With The Stars

Sharna Burgess tells US Weekly she was shocked to find out Nick Carter was her partner on Dancing With The Stars and she was even “fan girling” (I don’t blame her! 🙂 ). She also chats about their dances last week and has some things to spill about the future. Read on, see the link for more, and bring it on, Sharna and Nick!

“I’m hoping that in Halloween Week, we might be able to do a little bit of a ‘Backstreet’s Back’ tribute again,” she said, referencing the classic monster-themed music video. “And I think Nick will probably choose something from his Backstreet Boys journey that he’s going to use.”

Though she was initially scared of the Backstreet Army of diehard fans, Burgess said the response has been encouraging.

“I have had not one mean thing said,” she revealed. “Not one girl that has been angry. Everybody feels like we’re a great team. We have a great bunch of people behind us, that’s for sure.”

As for some details that the biggest BSB fangirls might want to know: “He smells good. I don’t know what he uses — what his cologne is — but he definitely smells good. Even when he sweats, he doesn’t smell bad!”

But Carter isn’t perfect. His partner admitted that the former teen star has several challenges to overcome.

“Nick has a lot of bad habits actually,” she said. “His posture can be really bad. His feet can curve in a little bit and he shuffles them around. I certainly don’t need to help him with performance quality. When he gets on the stage, he just lights up, and it’s wonderful to have that, but at the same time, you can throw out too much energy and go a little bit crazy, and I need him to reign it in and concentrate on the technique.”

Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess Writes On Her First Week With Nick Carter

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Hollywood Life. She raves on Nick Carter and also writes on their challenges. She also reveals their two dances for next week. Read on.

It was a surprise for us to be at the top of the leader board, but we’re obviously very excited to be given such great scores… but it does put the pressure on us in the weeks going forward! Now we’re seen as the ones to contend with. That means we have to always keep stepping up our game.

I think Nick is incredibly talented, and I want him to realize that and find the confidence in himself to be that performer and that dancer that we all know he can be. We have the Jive & Foxtrot next week — two difficult dances, two very different dances.

I think it would be awesome to see Nick come out and do an energetic Jive, and then come out and be like Gene Kelly in a Foxtrot. It’s going to be two very, very different personalities for him, and I honestly think he’s going to blow people away with his Foxtrot.

Sharna Burgess Talks On Rehearsals With Nick Carter, Dancing With The Stars, And More

Sharna Burgess recenlty talked with WNY Papers about Dancing With The Stars and how much the show has done for dancers and dance itself in the time it’s been on the air. She also talked on her career, pushing herself to get better, and her new Dancing With The Stars partner, Nick Carter. Right now, they are trying to work on getting that hip hop vibe out of him. Read on….

“I, obviously, am … incredibly passionate about my craft, and everyday I push myself to be better. I never get comfortable. … I’ve always strived to be more than just dance steps, and go to the depths of what dance is about – and make people feel something, and entertain.

“I love it. It’s my world. And, honestly, I feel like I was put on this earth to dance. It just seemed there wouldn’t be another option for me. So, you know, I had to make it work (laughs).”

Burgess recently learned she’d be paired with musician Nick Carter for season 21. “I’ve had amazing partners – it’s all in different ways – but Nick is, certainly, a different level,” she said of the Backstreet Boys band member. “He’s got dance talent, but we are discovering in our first few hours of rehearsal that, in some ways, it’s a little bit of a disadvantage. We need to get that hip-hop vibe kind of out of him, so we can get the ballroom technique.”
