AdelinaGlebSavchenko

Can you believe it’s the Quarterfinals for Dancing With The Stars Russia? Time flies when you are having fun!! Whatever the case, know that the show will start at either 9:45am ET or 10:20am ET. As always, you can watch Dancing With The Stars Russia at Live Russia TV. If the LIVE stream doesn’t work, check my twitter page as I’ll be tweeting some streams that will work. Also, follow @Nastineli at twitter as she plans to translate the show for us (this is so so cool and makes the show that much more enjoyable!).

Lastly, now is the most important time to be VOTING for Gleb and Adelina if you can. If you are able to… “send a SMS with number 10 to 1075” to VOTE for their dance today. You can also vote for Gleb and Adelina to win a Fans Choice Trophy Award at this link online daily and all week until the end of the season. Anyone can vote including International voters. If you need directions, see this twitter link as Anastassija Lipkova has been so nice explaining it for us so well (note that number of votes in the 3rd line is just a figure. Ticking the 1st box is obligatory. The 2nd box is optional. Your votes go to a good cause as well.

With that all said, here’s to Gleb and Adelina and Dancing With The Stars Russia this week!!! They are dancing a Hip Hop dance and will be the first out of the shoot today. Be sending them and Elena Samodanova (who is judging) lots of love and good wishes! We’ll update this post with photo links and their new dance(s) as soon as we are able to. Thanks to Everyone following along! Sweet photo above courtesy of Gleb’s Instagram.

ETA: Below are Gleb and Adelina’s dances. They danced in the beautiful opening number and so gracefully at that. I love this music….

And below is their Hip Hop dance. They OWNED it out there with Alexey Balash. Check them out! “You can’t touch” it! It was jammed packed with energy and cool moves and tricks!! They scored a 45 with it….and ended up placing 1st this week and they made it to the Semi-Finals! WOO HOO! You can also see some stunning photos of them and the cast at DWTSRussia facebook. Let us know what you think in comments!!

ETA2: Just a little FYI from our Russia friend and translator @NastineLI. The opening number (seen above) was dedicated to Cosmonautics Day in Russia. You can read all about this Russian holiday at Wikipedia. Below is a take from the link. FASCINATING!! Thanks Annastassija!!

In 2011, April 12 was declared as the International Day of Human Space Flight in dedication of the first manned space flight made on April 12, 1961 by the 27-year-old Russian Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Gagarin circled the Earth for 1 hour and 48 minutes aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft.

The commemorative day was established in the Soviet Union one year later, on April 9, 1962. In modern Russia, it is celebrated in accordance with Article 1.1 of the Law “On the Days of Military Glory and the Commemorative Dates in Russia”.

Gagarin’s flight was a triumph for the Soviet space program, and opened a new era in the history of space exploration. Gagarin became a national hero of the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc and a famous figure around the world. Major newspapers around the globe published his biography and details of his flight. Moscow and other cities in the USSR held mass demonstrations, the scale of which was second only to WWII Victory Parades. Gagarin was escorted in a long motorcade of high-ranking officials through the streets of Moscow to the Kremlin where, in a lavish ceremony, he was awarded the highest Soviet honour, the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, by the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.

Nowadays the commemoration ceremony on Cosmonautics Day starts in the city of Korolyov, near Gagarin’s statue. Participants then proceed under police escort to Red Square for a visit to Gagarin’s grave in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis, and continue to Cosmonauts Alley, near the Monument to the Conquerors of Space. Finally, the festivities are concluded with a visit to the Novodevichy Cemetery.

Elena Samodanova Interviewed About DWTSRussia, Gleb Savchenko, Adelina Sotnikova And More In MK Magazine

Gleb Savchenko And Elena Samodanova and their little girl, Olivia, are in the current issue of MK Magazine in Russia. The interview includes beautiful photos and has been posted at Woman Hit. @NastineLi at twitter has also been so gracious to translate the interview for us to English which you can read below. Elena talks of what it’s like to judge Dancing With The Stars Russia. She also talks of Gleb, his Dancing With The Stars Russia partner Adelina Sotnikova, and their daughter Olivia. Read on….

The finalist of the world championships in ballroom dances Elena Samodanova is called the most strict judge of Dancing with the Stars Russia. No wonder, as she has worked on the similar shows in other countries and has dealt with such huge stars as Ricky Martin, Rihanna etc. So we decided to get all the comments from the first hands.

MK -Elena, now you are a judge of DWTS Russia, which is being produced in Moscow, but in general you live abroad…
E – Yes, now most of my time I spend abroad, in LA. Before that I lived in Hong Kong and Sydney. Also they invited me to dance for China and Australia to represent these countries at international competitions and to work on tv dancing projects. Also I did teaching there : I worked at dancing studios and taught both young kids and adults. Together with that I started working as a choreographer and created free programs for other projects.

MK – In your opinion, what is the difference between the Russian show and similar shows in other countries?
E – They are all very different even if the franchise is the same. Each country has its own cultural and national peculiarities. But in each country the show is very popular, as the audience enjoy following the celebrities’ development. In Australia I worked with Ricky Martin, Seal. At another Australian project I worked with Paula Abdul and Olivia Newton-John. In Hong Kong I worked with Rihanna, Ikon, Sheryl Crow. In the USA I was lucky to work with Elisabeth Berkly, the star from “Show girls”, and Jack Osborne. I met Bruce Willis and Jeniffer Lopez…

MK – How did you happen to become a judge of the Russian project?
E – It was very unexpected and a pleasant surprise. In November 2014, when I was working in Hong Kong, I received this offer. And when I learnt about the charity aim of this project, my last doubts vanished. Even now working abroad I remain Russian : I promote Russian culture, I love Russian food and literature, my daughter is brought up in our tradition.

MK – Do you sometimes have debates with other judges?
E – Yes, it happens, and I think it is good. If we all put the same marks, the show would be very boring. And it is also good that our judges pay attention to different advantages and drawbacks of the work of each pair. For me technical aspect is very important, because I judge professional competitions, and there technique plays a very important role. Very often Segey Filin and I share the same point of view. And during the last two shows we gave very similar marks. And his comments very often reflect not only his opinion but mine as well.

MK – They call you the most strict judge of the project. Is that true?
E – It was the least wanted role for me, I’d love to be a fair judge. When I became part of this show, I was not familiar with Russian show business, as I was away from the country for many years. Maybe that’s why my marks were unbiased. I just watched a dance, judged the technique and put marks. Besides the pair must be able to deal with their nerves. They should come out on the floor and show what they can do. Adrenalin must help them deliver a good performance, but it shouldn’t spoil their dance.

MK – As you are a finalist of the world champs, you must definitely have a strict daily schedule, right?
E – I grew up in the sports and dancing family, so we had a certain life style. In my family no one smokes, no one drinks alchohol. In Russia you should also keep an eye on how much pastry and desserts you eat, as there’re so many tasty things. I have just one rule – I don’t need any restrictions if I do physical exercise. If I have eaten a cake, I go to a sports centre. I squat even when I brush my teeth. And when I cook I push myself up from a table. I try to combine use and pleasure.

MK – What are your other interests apart from dancing?
E – I enjoy bikhram-yoga, which you do in a room with very high temperature. I also love surfing and horse riding. Among my hobbies I can name making videoclips. I create different montages as memorable videos from recordings we have in our home collection. And of course I love cooking. Mainly I cook for my daughter Olivia, and we often cook together.

MK – Your husband is a professional dancer Gleb Savchenko, who also participates in the show. Tell us how you two met
E – We met in a dance studio in Moscow. At that time we both had other partners, but we never competed against each other, we were just friends and communicated. It happened so that Gleb went to America and then called me and offered to take part in a show together. In New York we learnt more about each other, and the feelings appeared. We have been officially a couple since 2006. And we have a wonderful daughter Olivia, who was born in Hong Kong. But even after our girl was born we kept competing and became 3 times Australian champions. So our daughter helped us in our career and cretivity.

MK – The partner of your husband is Adelina Sotnikova. Aren’t you jealous?
E – No, absolutely not. I’m very glad that he has such a wonderful partner that any professional can only dream about. We trust each other, and besides many moments that can seem strange to ordinary people are absolutely normal for dancers and artists in general. I see that they work very very hard. And all the feelings and emotions that we see and that dancers show on the floor – love, agression, flirting – simply must be present in a well choreographed dance, like in a movie or a musical. As a professional I know and understand all that, so I can’t be jealous, but I approve of that.

MK – Is your daughter Olivia fond of dancing?
E – Yes, she likes dancing very much, she watches us dance, and travels everywhere with us. She does classical ballet, and in America she visited a dance school where she did step and jazz-dance. Now she also does gymnastics, to develop sports spirit and muscles, swimming and horse riding. I believe that you should develop a child in different areas. But I don’t want her to act under my compultion , I want Olivia to choose herself what she likes.

To read the interview (and see the beautiful photos), visit Woman Hit. Also, be following @NastinLi at twitter as last week she translated the show for us. @TeamSotka is also updating us on Gleb, Adelina, and Elena. Too fun and here’s to DWTSRussia on Saturday. #DanceMakesCountriesComeTogether Heads up: Gleb and Adelina have a “Hip Hop” dance this week.

ETA: Another heads up: Gleb is also in the new People Magazine’s DWTS Special Edition. Be sure to pick up a copy at News stands everywhere. Thanks to Abby for the heads up!

DWTS Russia Week 7: Watch Gleb Savchenko And Adelina Sotnikova Dance An Argentine Tango

DWTSRussaATangoGlebSavchenko

Wow, is the photo of Adelina Sotnikova above not beautiful?! Powerful stuff! Gleb Savchenko posted it at his instagram saying, “Tomorrow is gonna be epic!!!! We are dancing an Argentine Tango.” Bring it on Gleb and Adelina! We can’t wait!!!

For those wanting to tune into Dancing With The Stars Russia today to watch Gleb Savchenko, Adelina Sotnikova, and Elena Samodanova, see Live Russia TV. If the LIVE stream doesn’t work, check my twitter page or dm me at twitter and I’ll send you another link. It starts at 9:45 ET. Or stay tuned to the spot below as we plan to post pictures and a video of Gleb and Adelina as soon as we can. Thanks to All who are following. We also so appreciate our Russian translators too who post in comments on the show.

ETA: Adelina and Gleb’s dance was indeed “epic”. It touched me so much, I cried. The dance had some of the best choreography I’ve ever seen him do. It was visually stunning with the ocean and water effects. The moves at the end were show stopping. They scored a perfect 50 and placed 1st this week. They placed 3rd over all (I thought for sure this dance would put them in 2nd or 1st place).

DWTS Russia Week 6: Watch Gleb Savchenko And Adelina Sotnikova Dance A Rumba

GlebAdelina2

Ready for another fun Saturday with Dancing With The Stars Russia? If you are up early and would like to watch the show on a LIVE stream to watch Gleb Savchenko, Adelina Sotnikova, and Elena Samodanova, see Live Russia TV. It starts at 9:45 ET. We plan to post a video of Glen and Adelina as soon as we can. So check back for updates and be sure to us know what you think in comments. Below are some photos of them rehearsing during the week courtesy of their instagrams. You can also watch some fun rehearsals in these videos here, here, here, and here. “Break a leg”, Guys!!!

ETA: Gleb and Adelina scored a 47 with their Rumba. I was shocked they didn’t receive a higher score being most of the panel of judges throws out 10’s? Anyway, Gleb and Adelina were just fantastic again in my opinion. Their Rumba made me think of Spring, a new romance, hope, and joy!! It was full of heart and emotion. We hope to have video soon. Though some of the sites I had saved to get videos have blocked people internationally. So, it might be harder to get video as quick. You can view some beautiful photos of them at NastinLi twitter account.

ETA2: Here they are! Let us know what you think….

Dance Pro Gleb Savchenko Interviewed About DWTSRussia And Partner Adelina Sotnikova

Many of you have been following our journey with Gleb Savchenko as he dances on Dancing With The Stars Russia this season. Well, you might find this new interview with the Ice Network interesting as Gleb talks of how he got a chance to dance on the show with Adelina Sotnikova. He also discusses what rehearsals with her have been like, her strengths and weaknesses, and much more. Be sure to read the full interview and stay tuned. We’ll be making a new post on Gleb and Adelina for Week 4 of Dancing With The Stars Russia on Saturday!

ETA: Note how DWTS Russia is a charity project and that the money is donated to help children! Awesome!

Icenetwork: Although you are Russian, you’re mostly based in Los Angeles. How did you get the prime assignment of partnering Adelina Sotnikova?

Savchenko: When I knew that there was a chance for me to dance with Adelina, I got really excited, but I still had to think about it because it’s a big change for me to move from L.A. for such a long time. One very important thing made my decision easier: when I learned that DWTS Russia was a charity project and that the money would be donated to help children. After that, I didn’t have to think about it too long. Plus, Adelina is an Olympic champion, and I have a good chance to do well in this competition.

Icenetwork: How much time did you get to practice together before the first show?

Savchenko: We practiced for two weeks before the first show, but it wasn’t every day. She had other commitments and shows.

Icenetwork: How have your experiences on the U.S. DWTS helped prepare you for the Russian version?

Savchenko: It’s amazing how most of the countries have DWTS and all of them are so different. I still would say that the U.S. version is the best! I had an opportunity to be a part of it for three seasons. I’ve learned a lot being on the show, not just different dance styles, but in many other areas: how the production works, how they shoot the show.

Being a pro on the Russian version will give me a good chance to show what I’ve learned and how I can teach Adelina, producing a good quality of dancing and making a good show.

Icenetwork: What are your impressions of Adelina?

Savchenko: She works very hard, like a real champ; [she’s] very focused and will not quit until it’s done perfectly. We established good communication between us, and I treat her like my younger sister.

Icenetwork: She is a singles skater and, therefore, doesn’t have much partnering experience. What have been some of her challenges in doing partner work and what has she been a natural at doing?

Savchenko: She has a natural movement and great coordination, and is very musical. She’s never danced with a partner before, but it feels like it’s not a problem for her; she picks [things] up very fast. I’m working on improving her footwork, dance technique and posture.

DWTS Russia Week 3: Gleb Savchenko And Adelina Sotnikova Dance A Fox Trot

It’s Dancing With The Stars Russia Week 3! This week Gleb Savchenko and Adelina Sotnikova take on the Fox Trot. Remember when Gleb danced a Fox Trot with Lisa Vanderpump in our version of Dancing With The Stars? It ended up being a fan favorite.

Lisa Vanderpump & Gleb Savchenko – Foxtrot by GrinyasEntertainment

So, what will happen this week? Below is a Gallery of Gleb and Adelina rehearsing. Note that Adelina will wear HEELS. 😀 You can also see some shots of the cast and judges which include Elena Samodanova.

And for another treat, you can watch Gleb and Adelina rehearsing for their Cha Cha last week at this link. I was having flashbacks of “Dirty Dancing” while watching this. HOT HOT!

In other exciting news this week for Gleb and Elena! Their dance underwear line “The Gleb Collection” will soon be making a debut in dance shops all over Russia. Too fun!!

Ok, that gets you caught up. Here’s to Week 3 of Dancing With The Stars Russia and wishing them all GOOD LUCK!! If interested in watching the show today on a LIVE stream, see Live Russia TV. Note the time change. It starts at 12:55pm ET!! If you can’t catch it, that’s ok. We hope to post videos as soon as we can in the spot below. Be sure to let them know what you think in comments.

ETA: Ok, I’m kind of confused because the stream started early (oh how I wish I understood Russian). Below is Gleb and Adelina’s Fox Trot thanks to Gleb RTing! How beautiful is this!! LOVES! They scored a 43 with it. Thanks to @jane9668 for the heads up and helping me in my confusion. lol

ETA2: So, according to this twitter exchange, they decided at the last minute to air the show at the same time last week instead of the new time. Not sure why.

ETA3: You can watch all the videos for yesterday’s show here.
