PureDWTS Media Round-up: A Birthday Bash, Across Grace Alley Stills, A Floor Show In Australia, And A Benefit Gala

Just a little Dancing With The Stars media round-up!!! This weekend, Dancing With The Stars pros Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff attended a big birthday bash for dancing alumni Maria Menounos. Julianne Hough and Shirley Ballas also attended the fun event as well as a total of 800 guests. Derek’s sister Katherine and baby were also there. It started at noon with a pool party and ended with a Hawaiian party. Below is Derek and Karina dancing together during the festivities.

Speaking of Karina, have you seen this instagram photo yet? The photo features some beautiful stills of Karina from her first movie role “Across Grace Alley“. With an exception to some sound adjustments from Ralph Macchio, it sounds like the movie is almost finished and ready to go. Well, we hope?

And moving down under! Pros Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samodanova are currently in Australia. This weekend they gave a floor show and lecture. Below they Cha Cha and do a Paso Doble for the audience. Nice!! I need to add Elena to my Pro Wish List. 😀

Lastly, remember dancer and ballroom instructor Adrianne Haslet-Davis who was tragically hurt and lost her leg in the Boston bombings? Dancing With The Stars plans to help and follow her on her journey of recovery. Well, on June 15th, you can help too. There will be a Fundraising Gala for her and her husband Adam Davis in Boston. Dancers and Dance Fans Unite: Please Help This Dance Instructor Who Was Hurt In The Boston Bombings

Did you know there was a dance instructor hurt in the Boston Bombings? Her name is Adrianne Haslet-Davis. She was at the Boston Marathon with her husband, Air Force Captain Adam Davis, who had just recently returned home from Afghanistan. Both were injured when the second bomb exploded near them. Adrianne’s left foot and part of that leg had to be amputated. Despite her injuries, she has vowed to dance again and do whatever it takes. Below she talks with Anderson Cooper about it in case you missed this on his show last night. My heart broke in two when I saw this and yet, something in me says, she ‘will’ dance again. What a sweet, strong, and courageous young woman. If you’d like to help her, please visit this website. Even the smallest amount can make a difference.

UPDATE: No idea if this is true or not, but, one of our readers is reporting that Adrianne Haslet-Davis and her story might be spot lighted on Dancing With The Stars next week. Also, below is the cast sending her some love and cheer on Inside Edition Monday night.

UPDATE2: Tom Bergeron announced on the show tonight that they are indeed spot lighting Adrianne Haslet-Davis on next week’s results show. They will also be announcing how the show plans to help her (So awesome!! And according to what Codebear reports to us, he, Elena Grinenko, and Nick Kosovich were able to get the ball rolling for this.). Read more..
