DWTS Season 10 – Week 2 Media, Part III

Kate and Niecy – it’s The Insider, so what do you expect? Kate, kate, blah blah blah….and the Dancers after Dark. Erin is Hilarious. 🙂 Also Chad and Evan.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

ABC Affiliate Post Show Interviews – DWTS Season 10, Week 2

You can see all of these videos at abc7.com – I put a select few below.

Pam and Damien

Maks and Erin

Post results show vids are up as well, including Nicole and Derek:

DWTS Season 10 – Week 2 Media, Part II

I’m officially sick of Kate. They also recap several of the couples with interview bits. Also, Vegas odds.

All about the elimination. Of course. Nicole sings the ET theme song. A story on Pam’s history – she used to be so much more natural looking.

Aiden and Edyta’s new rehearsal.

Dancing with the Stars 10 – Week 2 Media

Erin and Maks on Access Hollywood – talking about Pamela and basketball. Hilarious.

Kate Tony fight, blah blah blah – poor Tony. A 30 second tiff is played 5000 times over the course of the week. I can’t blame him for being a total bad ass during this interview. Dude, you totally played into Access Hollywood’s hands with this though. Don’t worry, Derek plays into their hands in another interview, only he doesn’t get mad, just embarrassed. 🙂 Also a bit with Shannen and Mark in this one.

Shannen and Mark ousted. Mark’s injury. A bit with Pam and Damien. Tony’s back to normal. 🙂 And Derek gets busted. 🙂

DWTS Season 10 – Week 2 Results Show Recap

This is turning out to be one fine season of DWTS!! Even the results show was pretty awesome. My only comment is that I wish they would allow the pros to do the choreography – that Ballroom fusion dance by MJ’s choreographers was a little too scattered for me. Here are some of the highlights of the result show – for me, anyway. 🙂 (Note: the Haiti Tribute has it’s own post.)

Adam Carolla – LOL!!

The Pro Dance

Okay, this was not a highlight for me – if not for the dancing it would have been a bit painful. The Beach Boys, with pro dancing.

The Len Commandments – Goody, Len being as funny as I know he can be AND blasphemy all in one segment!! LOL. Shoulda done this LAST season. 🙂

I confess that I had an ulcer by the time this show was over and Shannen was eliminated. 🙂

DWTS Season 10, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What?

Well, so much for the idea of TWO dances per week. Looks like, from what I can tell, is that we have Quickstep, Paso Doble and Waltz this week.  As always, if you think I’ve gotten something wrong, or if I leave something out, let me know and I’ll update.

Nicole and Derek – Quickstep – I expect these two will continue to live up to their own hype. 🙂 Going by this picture, anyone got any ideas about their “story”?

Evan and Anna – Quickstep – Evan started Stars on Ice this week AND he has two broken toes. So, will he be able to hold it together? I’m thinking yeah. This guy has a serious work ethic. However, I’m going to have to unfollow him on Twitter because his spamming is ridiculous. Dude, you fans KNOW at this point to vote for you. Give it a freakin’ rest.

Erin and Maks – Waltz – could be very interesting. Just read what Maks has to say in his blog. I have a feeling this “story” could either be cool as hell or a disaster. But, at the end of the day, Erin did very well with her Foxtrot, so I imagine her waltz will be beautiful.

Niecy and Louis – Waltz – I see no reason why she won’t do well on this, but at some point she’s really going to have to step it up, what with the competition this season. Niecy and Nicole both tweeted this photo which nearly caused me to go blind. 🙂

Chad and Cheryl – Paso Doble – So, will Chad have a break through and kick some serious butt, or is this going to be a Maurice Green Paso, where he stomps around?? I want to say he’s going to have a breakthrough, but he’s disappointed me two weeks in a row now, so I’m going to hedge. 🙂

Jake and Chelsie – Quickstep – Jake did okay with the Viennese Waltz, and okay with the jive – but I think the Quickstep could be his waterloo. We’ll see. It’s in hold and it’s FAST.

Pam and Damien – Paso Doble – oh boy is she getting good dances!! I think. 🙂 It is, as she says, very dramatic. But can Pam do dramatic and fierce, not to mention keep her chest off of Damian’s? I’m of two minds on this one, but since she keeps surprising me I’m going to bet she does well.

Buzz and Ashly – Waltz – If he doesn’t knock it out of the park, America better get rid of him. Or Kate. 🙂 But if he couldn’t Foxtrot, why would he be able to Waltz?

Kate and Tony – Paso Doble – Hmmmm…Tony is excited about this dance. Didn’t Kate do the Jive? How did she get the Paso and not the Quickstep? I smell a rat. Anyway, I’m seriously hoping that she’s done for after her tantrum last week. Please?

Aiden and Edyta – Quickstep – I dunno, I don’t see this happening. I think he’s probably a gonner and Kate will stick for another week. Unfortunately.

Anyone else get the feeling they’re trying to even the playing field when handing out dances? Except for Aiden? I do.

DWTS Season 10 Ratings – DWTS Beats American Idol!!

From the LA Times:

Since its killer Season 3 in 2004, “American Idol” has been an indomitable ratings force. But now its reign looks jeopardized by … “Dancing With the Stars”?

Well, certainly Season 10 of “DWTS” has gotten off to a potent start, which may be what happenswhen Pamela Anderson, Shannen Doherty and Kate Gosselin show up to dance their feet sore. ABC says that it has emerged as the nation’s No. 1 show because the “DWTS” average audience the last two weeks (23.6 million) has outdrawn — albeit barely — the Tuesday total for “Idol” (23 million) that same fortnight period. This week, the Monday edition of “DWTS” (23 million) beat out both the Tuesday (21.8 million) and Wednesday (20.5 million) editions of “Idol” for the first time ever. And overall, “DWTS” is up 30% this season in total viewers.

Now, this article also points out that AI beats DWTS in the coveted younger adult category, and that 60% of DWTS audience is over 50, compared to 37% of American Idol. But this way of looking at ratings – ie. that the younger people are more desirable has never made any sense to me. Who has the actual MONEY to buy stuff – which, incidentally, is the whole point of commercials? Well, I don’t know many college kids or even late 20’s folks who are flush with cash, that’s for sure.

The fact that this blog is also titled “Idol Times” also says something about the dismissive attitude toward this rather significant (IMO, no matter how you look at it) happening. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Idol SUCKS this season. 🙂

DWTS Season 10: Shannon Doherty kicked off first

I’m not entirely shocked she was the first to leave since she really doesn’t have a strong fan base. However, I am so sad that Mark is gone but it’s got to be fate since he would’ve been out anyways due to his injury. I don’t know if I could stand to watch Corky with Shannon…that’d be an awkward pairing!

I don’t have anything positive to say about her dances since her technique is terrible but she tried and she made her dad proud! But here are the videos anyways 🙂 Enjoy

Shannen’s 2 Dances:
Week 1: Viennese Waltz

Week 2: Jive

What some of celebs are saying about Shannen’s early elimination:

@NiecyNash: She might have been dubbed a “bad girl” but to me she was “real”. Shannon will be missed!

@EvanLysacek: SO bummed to see @OfficialMBallas and @DohertyShannen go. Marks performance last night was so heroic and Shannen is the biggest sweetheart

@aidenturner: @DohertyShannen you were awesome !!!! missing you already, doing DWTS won’t be the same without you!!!! have a safe flight back to LA

DWTS Season 10, Week 2 – No, the results weren’t rigged!!

Gee, E! Online, I give you a big old DUH. I’ve been writing about this since LAST season, but I give you an A for effort, I guess. At least you get to talk to Conrad. But, silly people, I have to say “duh” to the parts I excerpted below, in particular:

But let’s back you away from that window you’re shouting from, and consider the charges:

• Charge No. 1: DWTS goosed the results to keep Aldrin around because, geez, the man walked on the moon—you can’t dump an American hero to the curb after two lousy dances.

• Charge No. 2: DWTS goosed the results to keep Gosselin around because, c’mon, she’s notorious, and she’s helping the show pull record numbers.

• Charge No. 3: DWTS judged Doherty the most expendable, and, for good ratings measure, put Pamela Anderson in the bottom two.

See, if you crunch the judges’ scores the way they do at DWTS, then the field bunches—the lows aren’t as low, the highs aren’t as high, although, sure, a good amount of outer space still separates Aldrin from Nicole Scherzinger. But Doherty’s lead over Aldrin becomes less than 3 percentage points, her lead over Gosselin less than 2. That’s not a lot of wiggle room for when the public’s votes are added in—if Aldrin manages to best Doherty by just three full points there, then, presto, he’s ahead.

And they way we crunch them HERE….

“I can assure you absolutely there’s no rigging of these votes,” Green said, citing the rules, regulations, more rules and three independent accounting firms. “I couldn’t do anything about them if I wanted to.”

If the suspicious figure that’s exactly what a man in Green’s position would say, then maybe they wouldn’t expect him to say he knows why there was uproar over last night’s results: “Whenever logic is defied,” he said, “people get angry.” Or to put it another way, if you watched the routines, there’s no way Aldrin doesn’t go home, there’s no way Anderson’s on the firing line, there’s no way Doherty doesn’t stick around, and so on.

Unfortunately for Doherty and Anderson, the two might have fallen victim to the oldest stumbling block in Chris Daughtry book. Said Green: “A lot of people assumed they’d get the votes.”

While every vote always counts, every vote is especially important in the early, contender-packed shows. “The margins can be really small—it can just be a few hundred votes,” Green said.

:::sigh::: I’m not bitter. 😉 Anyway, I was just telling someone the other night that if they rigged the vote, they could go to jail. Fraud. Remember the movie Quiz Show? Now, they can certainly manipulate viewers. How? Well, showing temper tantrums. Showing injuries (not Mark’s – he, like Derek, keeps that on the down low until it won’t make a difference – if possible). Showing other, unflattering (or highly flattering) things. Some would say that they do that for DRAMA and RATINGS – and of course they are – but they also can use that stuff to manipulate viewers. I’m not saying they ARE, I’m just saying they could if they wanted. 🙂

SPOILERS!! DWTS Season 10, Week 2 – The Score Card

I find this elimination very shocking, actually. Shannen and Mark leave the competition.

I guess Courtney and I have to tally up how well we did with our predictions. Neither of us sucked, but neither of us were 100% correct either. We can’t draw too many conclusions, because they don’t tell us the vote totals of everyone NOT in the bottom two. Heck, we normally can’t even be sure that the two left standing are actually the bottom two.

Heidi:
– Predicted Aiden would go, but guessed possible shocker of Chad or Shannen.
– Did NOT expect to see Pam in the “bottom 2”. Since Tom did use the words bottom two instead of “jeopardy”, I’m assuming it was a real bottom 2.

Conclusion: looking at my math numbers, Shannen is not that huge of a shocker, her number weren’t that far above those below her. Pam, on the other had, was a real surprise. I think she suffers from NOT having a big name pro by her side – although Shannen did, so….

Courtney:
– Predicted that Kate would go home – or was that wishful thinking? 🙂
– Had Chad in her bottom 2 and didn’t think Shannen would go home, although Courtney did comment on bad dance order for her and Mark.
– Was absolutely correct in pegging me as a complete worrywart in regards to Nicole and Derek. 🙂
– Had commented a few times that she wasn’t sure if people would vote for Pam (more in the comments than anything).

Conclusion: ?? Paging Courtney. Write me a conclusion for your guesses. :-)Alright miss Heidi, here’s my conclusion…

…I need to stick with my gut instincts from my preliminary ranking, as those would have been closer to being correct than the one I did this week! I knew deep down that Pam would probably struggle with votes, but I think I gave her the benefit of the doubt this week because she did decently well. And yes, your worrying was for naught – Derek was just fine, and will probably get a voting boost from the folks who were voting for Mark. I’m beginning to think more & more that bad dance order contributed to Shannen’s early departure…she was just on too early in the performance order for people to remember her well. I should also not underestimate the voting power of the infamous Vote for the Worst – stupid Kate doesn’t deserve to be there! I’m making a voodoo doll as we speak. 😉

Next Week? Pam fans rally, as do Derek/Nicole fans (because Mark the bff went home) – Aiden bites the dust, finally, and Kate lives again to dance another day. Damn it. 🙂 Never underestimate the power of a train wreck. Make sure that voodoo doll is a good one, Courtney
