Carrie Anne Inaba Discusses The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Each DWTS Finalist

Carrie Anne Inaba talked with TV Guide about the strengths and weaknesses of each finalist on Dancing With The Stars. To see how she weighed on each of them, see this link. Below is a small take from the link….

“I think it’s going to be a very, very close run,” Inaba tells TVGuide.com. “I hear Bindi’s name come up a lot when people are talking about who they think is going to win. And yes, she’s got this incredible personality and she’s done consistently well. But … not to bring her down at all, because she’s absolutely incredible, but when you’re that good every time, the level of expectation is very, very high. And I think she’s shown us so many incredible sides of herself, I wonder what she’s going to show us for the finale. Because you could be great all season, but if you don’t win that night, you don’t win.”

Any of the other three finalists – Nick Carter, Carlos PenaVega and Alek Skarlatos – could give the young Aussie a run for her money, Inaba says.

“Bindi’s been strong and she’s been the leader horse out in the front, but I feel like these other guys, the three men, are right on her tail,” Inaba says. “And [among] the three of them, I feel like it’s a neck-and-neck run. Maybe Nick is just a hair ahead of the other guys, but who knows? Because they’re all on this incredible growth trajectory.”

One thing Inaba can guarantee is that the pros will be going for jaw-dropping moments – which could either be amazing or totally backfire. “I’m hoping that they will make creative choices that are great,” she says. “Sometimes the pros get ambitious and they want to go for the fan vote, and you’ve got to be careful. I think this year, because it is so tight scoring-wise, everybody’s really close to each other, I think they’re going to take some risks. And I just hope that they’re risks that will pay off for them. Carlos’ risk last week, I didn’t care for it. I thought that it was distracting to the dance.”

The two-part finale will see the finalists performing a number of routines, one of which will be a redo of a dance they’ve already performed, chosen by the judges. (“That’s my favorite part of the season, when we get to go into the studio and work with them a little and interact with the contestants, because we have such limited interaction with them throughout the season,” Inaba admits. “It was fun to get to know them up close.”) Also, for the first time, the finale will include a live segment broadcast from The Grove.

Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Finale Info, Performers, And More

From Disney ABC, below is some Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Finale info….

Four Couples Remain on the Two-Part Finale of “Dancing with the Stars” (11/23 and 11/24) SEASON FINALE

FOUR COUPLES REMAIN, BUT ONLY ONE CAN TAKE HOME THE MIRRORBALL TROPHY ON THE TWO-PART FINALE OF “DANCING WITH THE STARS”

Musical Performers Include Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, Nick Carter, Andy Grammer and More

The Season 21 Champion Will Be Declared on Tuesday, November 24

“Episode 2111 & 211A” – After weeks of competitive dancing, the final four couples advance to the FINALS of “Dancing with the Stars” this MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold, Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson, and Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess have one last night of competitive dancing, fighting to win the judges’ and America’s votes to be crowned the “Dancing with the Stars” champion on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

On Monday, November 23 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), the finalists will compete in two rounds of dance. In the first round, one judge will help each couple choose the creative elements of each dance, which is a re-do to a new song. Carrie Ann Inaba will work alongside Lindsay and Alek, as well as Bindi and Derek. Julianne Hough is with Nick and Sharna, and Bruno Tonioli is with Carlos and Witney. In the second round, in one of the biggest competitive dances of the season, the couples take on a freestyle dance featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises. There will be special performances from Meghan Trainor, singing “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” and Who Is Fancy, Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor performing “Boys Like You.” At the end of the night, the couple with the lowest combined viewer and judge votes from the previous two weeks will be eliminated.

In the two-hour season finale on Tuesday, November 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), the three finalists advance to the final stage of the competition. There will be live dancing and show-stopping performances at the Grove shopping center and in the DWTS ballroom. The night kicks off with a high-energy opening number, featuring a reunion of all 13 of this season’s couples at the Grove. The finale will be filled with performances from Alexander Jean, Andy Grammer, Chaka Khan, Elle King and Nick Carter. Kim Zolciak returns to the ballroom to dance a Samba with Tony Dovolani to “I Dream of Jeannie,” which she was never able to perform, along with encore dances from the eliminated celebrities. The cast of the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Live! Dance All Night Tour” will perform a dance to Avicii’s “Broken Arrows” as a sneak peak of the 90-minute show traveling the country this winter. The three finalists will each dance a repeat dance from this season. In the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24-Hour Fusion Challenge.” The remaining couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points. At the end of the night, the winner of the coveted Mirrorball trophy will be announced!

The Dancing Poetry Corner – A Potpourri of Dance – Semi-Finals Swing Style

I will preface my writing with my continued thoughts and prayers for the families of the victims of the Paris attacks. Also, for the entire situation, the ramifications near, far and wide. God be with Paris and God be with us all.

My heartfelt sympathies also for the death of the father of fellow columnist Voguerista. God be with her and her family.

Season 21 is drawing to a close. How can that be! It seems like we just saw the Cast Announcement on Good Morning America. The journeys of the cast have been highlighted culminating in the four pairs who have advanced to the Semi-Finals. A potpourri of many styles of dancing were highlighted.

The opening was another unique feat of choreography by Mandy Moore. Featuring circles of light and interchangeable pairs, the pros were in the spotlights! Albeit brief, the opening was a prelude to the introduction of the semi-finalists.

A special dance, a Foxtrot, was performed by Val and Jenna. To the music of “Here”, it was a dance of seduction, sharp, with polished finesse. It was gorgeous, glamorous, hot, sizzling, scrumptious! Stunning lifts were executed by this seasoned, professional pair!

The packages of the four pairs were extended to include more of their stories. Family and friends shared their perspectives. They were understandably beaming with pride! Their loved one is their own personal star!

Carrie Ann Inaba Blogs about DWTS Season 21, Week 10

As always, I agree with some stuff, roll my eyes at other things. From Parade Magazine – click the link to read her thoughts on all the dancers:

Alek Skarlatos had a very good night as well. Having the waltz and the Argentine tango with Emma and Lindsay was a lucky blessing for him. He’s so incredible in hold and he’s so incredibly strong and solid that partnering two dynamic women who could be totally secure in his frame and base, made these dances shine brightly. Yes, perhaps he is not the most fluid dancer, and we can see that in certain performances—namely the salsa, samba and some of the Latin dances but he did raise his game last night with the cha-cha. There is something to be said about performing the moves with clarity and proper technique. This is what he has accomplished so well. His training shows up in every dance. I can see the attention he has put into learning technique. He didn’t start out as the most expressive dancer, but he’s found his own unique performance style and I find it very exciting. He places his feet so clearly, so precisely, there is no doubt in his performances which creates a dramatic energy that is fantastic. There is an artistry in his perfection of movement. And it’s exciting to see him in the finals. I didn’t expect it…I don’t know if anyone did, but isn’t it great, that he continues to strive for perfection and attains new levels of performance every week? His steadiness and his power worked well in his Argentine tango. He provided the strongest base for a trio I have ever seen. It was quite stunning. And because Alek may not be good at all the dances, we judge one dance at a time, separately. And last night he had some stunning performances.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 21 Week 10 Media And Interviews After The Dances, Scores, And More

What night! Unlike last week, I loved the show!! The dancing was incredible. I even loved the opening number and thought Mandy Moore stepped it up with something different. Do you agree? I just wish it was longer. And what a breathtaking dance with Val and Jenna too. To review all the dances, see Idol XFactor.

So, here are the scores from last night for those who missed them:
Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough 9-9-9-10-10-10-3 60 total
Carlos PenaVega & Witney Carson 9-9-10-9-10-10-3 60 total
Alek Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold 10-10-10-9-9-9 57 total
Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess 8-8-8-10-10-10 54 total

Onto some media. First, be sure to check out Team Crikey and DancingWTS_21 for some coverage behind the scenes and some videos of the show last night from different angles. There aren’t any E Online interviews yet, but, be watching this link in case they post some later.

And below are some remarks on the night with the a few of the couples with People. Be sure to read the link for more.

“It’s tough seeing all the hardships in your life flash over that screen in 3.5 minutes,” Carter, 35, told PEOPLE after the show. “But I’m proud to share my past because I know everyone has one and I want to show people you can come back from anything.”

When judge Julianne Hough pressed Skarlatos, 23, for whether there was romance blooming between him and Slater, the contestant balked and changed the subject.

“Working with Emma is definitely a major perk of being on the show,” he told PEOPLE. As for a date? “We’ll have to see.”

Though note how Lindsay says Emma is NOT available in the new Access Hollywood interview below. Read more..
