The Dancing Poetry Corner – A Television Show -Stopper

I am a self-admitted TV junkie. I have always loved TV shows! Some of my favorites were featured – I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan’s Island, The Golden Girls! Shows of that time period were simply fun, sometimes silly fun! We had to laugh! We were entertained! They were the best! How fun was it to see Gary Busey as Gomez! The Addam’s Family was perfect for him and Anna to portray! My late-hubby and I loved that show and The Munsters! So all together spooky, mysterious, and ooky! American Bandstand was a staple of our youth! A Saturday treat that was Must-See TV! A Dick Clark extravaganza!

It was so fun to have The Muppets in the Dancing With the Stars Ballroom House! To integrate Miss Piggy as co-hostess, Kermit and friends running the show in the Control Room was simply amazingly fun! Miss Piggy was being flirtatious with Derek Hough! Swoon!

The Troupe bumpers are always a super addition to the show! Eliminated pros also participate. How inventive was the Smash-Up bumper with Artem, Emma and Val! There is no limit to the creative genius coming out of the minds of everyone associated with the show. The opening number with the lady pros was a kaleidoscope of colors! A dazzling display of a light show plus the brilliance of those dynamite ladies! They shook it up to kick off the night! Dancing With The Stars is a treasure trove of talent to burn! The show is blessed to Read more..

Dancing With Stars Season 21 Week 3 Photo Op Photos – Cast And Judges

I was hoping for some performance shots, but, so far only Photo Ops have come out of the cast of Dancing With The Stars this week. You can click on any of the photos below to see more. So, who had your favorite costume or look this week? I loved them all….but, Nick and Sharna were my favorite. Carrie Ann Inaba’s dress was out of this world for me too! Let us know what you think.

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 3 – Power Rankings

Last night, for the first time ever, I got to say the following sentence and mean it literally: “There are Muppets in the control room.” 😛 Not sure they had a terribly strong presence on last night’s show, but it was still a cute touch here and there to see Kermit & Miss Piggy bopping around.  Another nice touch? A guest judge that actually gave intelligent critiques.  I’ve seen about 50/50 when it comes to everyone’s thoughts on Alfonso – half seemed to like him as a judge, half seemed to hate him.  I fall in the former camp – call me crazy (or “biased” – just make sure you own your own biases, too 😉 ) but since Len left, it has felt like a 3-ring circus on that judging panel, and the last thing I wanted was a another pointless guest judge mucking it up even further – I felt like Alfonso did his best to give relevant, helpful critiques, and was nicer about it than both Carrie Ann and Julianne. And dammit, he was able to get away with saying what we all (likely including the other judges) have been thinking: the husband & wife act between Alexa & Carlos is TIRED.  They need to start looking out for themselves, or they’ll both lose.

As for the other judges – Carrie Ann still seemed cranky with just about everyone except Tamar, Julianne seemed to vacillate between semi-coherence and obvious scripting, and once again – Bruno seemed to be on the most even keel, although that’s even debatable.  God I miss Len something fierce. And something else I miss: rehearsal packages that aren’t completely scripted, tacky, and forced. The three that come to mind as the most cringeworthy are Tamar & Val’s, Alexa & Mark’s, and Alek & Lindsay’s…particularly the latter, as I’m now getting inundated with tweets asking if Alek is dating Brittany/Jenna/Karina/etc. You do all realize that was scripted nonsense, right? Right down to Hayes humorously c*ckblocking Alek’s attempt to “get Brittany’s number” with his Ninja Turtle costume? I thought we taught you guys better than that – to see through the bullsh*t.  The only nugget of truth from that whole nonsensical segment was Emma saying “I would love to get you in the switch, Alek!” She confirmed that on Twitter last week – so by all means, feel free to tweet #DWTSAlekEmma till your heart’s content 🙂 Just don’t hold out for pap pix of Jenna & Alek getting coffee, or Brittany & Alek getting into an Uber together, etc.

Sucks that Kim had to withdraw, but I can’t say none of us saw it coming – a stroke is a bit more serious than a sprained ankle or an aching back, and it’s good that she’s taking time out to take care of herself.  Can’t say I agree with the campaign I’m seeing to bring her back later in the competition, though – basically giving her a free pass straight to a later week without having to survive her way through the elims like other contestants? I don’t think so, kids. Let her come back and dance at the finale, but that’s it.  As for who ended up “in jeopardy” – I’m not entirely sure that those two couples were the actual bottom two, and since TPTB knew from the get-go that they weren’t actually going to eliminate anyone…I think they very well could have just picked two random couples to be in jeopardy. That being said – I do find it curious that they picked who they did, especially since we’ve only seen Gary in jeopardy with the eliminated couples the past two elims.  I think Andy & Allison are in real danger of fading into the woodwork, and Paula might be losing steam.  Guess we’ll see come next Monday… Read more..

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So, below is what we know so far for Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 4. Note that the couples dance to their “Most Memorable Year”! The following week is “Switch Up” week. Keep checking back for updates and don’t miss seeing our new Media and Interviews post.

ETA: According to this interview, Andy and Allison are dancing to his new single “Good To Be Alive” for their next dance. DWTSGossip is also confirming.

ETA2: Source says Paula has “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, and that Tamar has foxtrot.

ETA3: Source shared Alek’s song & dance.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m stoked to see him do paso – and I kind of love the sentiment of the song chosen: “Don’t wake me up when it’s all over.” He’s loving the crazy experience he’s had in the last month 🙂 -Court-

ETA4: True story: When I was little, I thought the ladies singing Tamar’s song were saying “Marmoset there’ll be days like this, there’ll be days like this, marmoset.” Apparently I thought tiny primates had very rough lives. -Court-

ETA5: Alexa’s song seems to be one that people either love or hate. I fall in the latter camp 🙁 -Court-

ETA6: According to DWTSGossip, Tamar told Wendy Williams that she’s practicing the rumba. Sounds like Val changed the song and dance style yet again. He can’t seem to hang with what he’s handed and that says a lot. ~Heidi

ETA7: George Penacchio confirmed that Bindi & Derek have “Every Breath You Take”.  I had heard that either Bindi or Hayes had it, but couldn’t decide which one it made more sense for… – Court-

ETA8: I give up… -Court-

ETA9: Sharna “thinks” they are dancing 6th. Not sure. I’m guessing Bindi goes last and that Hayes goes first. After that, who knows?

ETA10: Some updates on running order – Heidi guessed right on Bindi! And George Pennachio says Alexa’s going first and confirms Nick going 6th. -Court-

PureDWTS Season 21 Week 3 Scores, Media, And Interviews With The Cast After They Danced

What a great night of TV last night on Dancing With The Stars. The couples talk about it and more in their new interviews. Access Hollywood talked with Alfonso Ribiero too. I loved how he said 6 or 7 could win Dancing With The Stars this season. He named Bindi, Nick, and Tamar as the Top 3 right now. He said all of them need to “keep stepping it up” and “create connection that we’re all going to enjoy.” Right on, Alfonso! Did you enjoy him as a Judge? I thought he did a superb job and so did my Dad.

The scores again for those who might have missed them….

Paula Deen and Louis Van Amstel: 20/40
Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya: 25/40
Andy Grammer and Allison Holker: 29/40
Hayes Grier and Emma Slater: 30/40
Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson: 31/40
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough: 32/40
Alek Skarlatos and Linsday Arnold: 33/40
Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy: 33/40
Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas: 36/40
Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess: 36/40

Be sure to see E Online for their interviews. Glamour and FOX11 also has some backstage interviews. Below are more interviews. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Week 3 – LIVE BLOG

No longer cruising, but recovering from cruising. ?   I also find I’m watching the show with an eye to the crap they are going to pull and any “fun with editing” games they might play. Once again, I suggest that everyone watch “UNReal” to get a better idea of how I think this show probably looks behind the scenes. Yeah, it based on The Bachelor, but reality shows have a lot in common and that is a distinct lack of….reality. 🙂 DWTS is likely not as bad as UNReal, but I can think of a couple very glaring examples of how it is very much like it. Can you?

Anyway, T-minus 15 minutes to showtime. Who are we looking forward to? I’m open.

That was all right. I though there were a couple messy spots. Carlos is having the age old (male) problem of not wanting to follow a female choreographer. He best get over it.

Forgot to mention until I saw a similar comment in the comments…. but I hope Mandy isn’t holding her breath for an Emmy nomination. Seriously, another all female bump and grind? Only difference is the costume. Read more..

DWTS Season 21, Week 2 Night TWO – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, one of the problems of watching the show while on Vacation is that I don’t have good recall of the show this past week, nor do I have a way (at the moment) to rewatch it. I probably could pull it up on “On Demand” but, well, I’m somewhat lacking in time. I will be able to watch and live blog tomorrow which will make the next numbers post easier.  🙂

My impressions that I do remember is that neither Alexa nor Carlos is really doing it for me at the moment. I don’t have a good reason why nor any idea why this is the case. It just is. It could change for sure. I hope it does. I would like to see Mark win again.

Another impression was that Tamar actually had a good dance that I liked. We’ll see if Val can keep it up. I don’t have the high hopes for him that I once did, nor do I find him particularly inspired when it comes to choreo – but he does (yet again) have a good dancer. And one that I might actually end up *liking*. Read more..

The Dancing Poetry Corner – The Hometown Glory Map – Part Two

The Hometown Glory Map – Part Two

Night Two of The Hometown Glory week featured the amazingly talented Pros who grace the Dancing With The Stars stage each week. They are hard-working, work their magic to teach celebrities how to bring their visions to life. They work in all aspects to bring us a superlative show, for example creating costumes, etc. I give every Pro who has been on Dancing With The Stars a Standing Ovation – Bravo!

The Hometown Glory took several of the Pros to their hometowns in foreign countries. It was fascinating to see how they often rose from very little to the stardom they enjoy today. The Hometown Glory Map has extended far and wide! That Map has connected Dancing With the Stars in a harmonious manner! Dancing With the Stars is like one huge worldly family!

I wish The Troupe could have been included to tell The Hometown Glory stories too. Please join me for:

Another snazzly, dazzly Pro Revue was showcased for our viewing pleasure! Pros were highlighted around the Ballroom on monitors culminating in a dance in pristine white flowing gowns! Pro numbers always go for they gold! They are gems!
