DWTS Season 25, Week 2 (Monday Night) – Dancing by the Numbers!

Well, if that wasn’t the most f@#$@# up bunch of scoring then I don’t know what is. Maybe I shouldn’t tempt fate and make it even worse tonight, but damn – that was just bad. Who in the world besides a delusional fangirl believes that Vanessa and Victoria should be tied with Jordan at the top of the leaderboard with Lindsey a full three points below them?  Don’t get me wrong, I like all the people involved, but there ain’t no way those two ladies are on par with Jordan and that far ahead of Lindsey, EVEN with the breaking of hold.  These judges desperately need Mark, with Derek very unlikely to ever return, and they are NOT doing a good job of rewarding the best choreographer they have – who choreographed an excellent dance last night. And Lindsey’s dress was just freakin’ amazing. No idea how they did that, but man!

My only critique of Mark was the break in hold and spending a beat too long in the “cocoon”.  Victoria? Her legs were too soft throughout the dance (watch her kick) – yes, I get why that might be the case, but in the past the judges went on and on (and on and on and on) about needing to score differently abled contestants the same as everyone else, yet are doing nothing but gushing over Victoria. I think Victoria is a lovely girl (and anybody that prevents Val from talking gets my vote), but fair is fair. I understand we’re still on the Val Character Rehab tour, but let’s give it up, shall we?? As for Vanessa – another woman that (so far) I REALLY like. In fact, I think she would have a shot at winning if paired with Derek or Mark. But Maks isn’t quite up to the task. I’ve got an appreciation for Maks, thanks to his brother – but that dance couldn’t touch what Jordan or Lindsey did. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 25 Week 2 Night 1 Media, Recaps, Scores, and Interviews After The Dances

I was really hoping Barbara Corcoran would be around for a few more weeks. It’s sad to see her go. I thought she was a hoot and I’ll never forget how she made me laugh. I haven’t seen all the dances yet (I’m in survival mode with my Mom being in the hospital), but, can we give it up for Lindsey & Mark? That has to be one of the most creative dances ever on Dancing With The Stars. Then again, I’ve always had this ‘thing’ for butterflies. I’m still trying to figure out why they only got 7’s for it? 🙁 ETA: I just watched the other dances. Wow, I loved Gleb & Sasha, Terrell & Cheryl, and Frankie and Witney too.

So, let’s review the scores last night….

Jordan & Lindsay 24 (8, 8, 8)
Victoria & Val 24 (8, 8, 8)
Vanessa & Maks 24 (8, 8, 8)
Sasha & Gleb 23 (8, 8, 7)
Frankie & Witney 23 (8, 7, 8)
Nikki & Artem 21 (7, 7, 7)
Lindsey & Mark 21 (7, 7, 7)
Drew & Emma 20 (7, 6, 7)
Terrell & Cheryl 20 (7, 6, 7)
Debbie & Alan 20 (7, 6, 7)
Nick & Peta 19 (7, 6, 6)
Derek & Sharna 19 (6, 6, 7)
Barbara & Keo 17 (6, 5, 6) Eliminated

To watch the dances again, see Idolxfactor.com (these videos work internationally) and the official Your Tube page. Don’t miss some behind the scenes videos at the official Facebook page too.

Onto some media, recaps, and interviews. First up, see People for their articles and interviews. There is a really cute article on Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson (I think wedding bells are in their future 🙂 ). Jessica Radloff is back with her reviews of the night at Glamour (no backstage secrets yet).

Dancing with the Stars Season 25, Week TWO – Live Blog

So, who’s going home tonight?? If you want to hear my thoughts on the matter and you have some time to kill before the show, you can read Dancing by the Numbers. 🙂

Big mistake to use this song. Any dance can’t hope to stand up to Season 5’s opener.

Injured parties tonight are Drew and Vanessa – keep that in mind when watching them dance.

First up, Debbie. Like her attitude thus far. Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Welp. Here we are again. It’s still summer, so I’m going to keep this brief – hopefully – then I’m going outside.

Overall, I thought the show was really good this past Monday – I don’t have any real gripes other than I think TO was underscored by a point or two.  I wonder why they seem to do that on purpose? It’s got to have been pointed out to them by NOW that they really almost always low ball the first dancer out of the gate, not just in week one, but in many/most weeks. WHY??? Seems stupid and artificial.

But other than that, I thought we had a pretty good night. No one really sucked. That happens from time to time, but usually week 2 is a real eye opener. We’ll see how it goes this week with two dances. Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

How much would I kill to see Derek’s choreography to “Look What You Made Me Do”?? So, so much. :::sigh:::

Anyway, everyone does a dance on Monday night (first song and dance listed for each couple). Those who survive the Monday night elimination do the second dance to the second songs listed below. Latin on Monday Night, Ballroom on Tuesday?? Or do I have them backwards? Sorry, Vogue is in charge of the press release. Vogue? Eh, doesn’t matter at this moment – All first dances listed are on one night, all second dances listed are on the other night. Good enough for now.

Winners: Vanessa, for sure. Really?? Foxtrot and Salsa?? Lindsay isn’t faring too badly with Salsa and Quickstep, although the quickstep is going to be harder than the foxtrot – but Mark is a better choreographer, so there you go.

Losers: Everyone who got Samba – widely recognized as the hardest dance to do. Rumba is also going to be tough. I think Debbie may be especially hosed with Quickstep and AT – harsh.

Opportunity: Sasha, Jordan and Nikki, in particular, have a real opportunity to show two very different sides to themselves and show a lot of range.

Other thoughts? Read more..

PureDWTS Season 25 Week 1 Media, Recaps, Scores, and Interviews After The Dances

Wow! Where do I start? First of all, I want to thank the producers of Dancing With The Stars for not getting any political figures to dance this season and trying to cause friction and alienate fans like the Emmy producers did Sunday night (stupid!). Instead, we are getting a season of “celebration” just like Tom Bergeron teased a few weeks ago. I have to say, I am loving all the contestants so far. They are all so different and fun. More on that later in Courtney’s Power Rankings post. 😉 For now, let’s review the scores;

Lindsey & Mark 22 (7, 8, 7)
Jordan & Lindsay 22 (8, 7, 7)
Vanessa & Maks 21 (7, 7, 7)
Nikki & Artem 20 (7, 7, 6)
Victoria & Val 19 (7, 6, 6)
Frankie & Witney 19 (7, 6, 6)
Sasha & Gleb 18 (6, 6, 6)
Derek & Sharna 18 (6, 6, 6)
Nick & Peta 18 (6, 6, 6)
Debbie & Alan 17 (6, 5, 6)
Drew & Emma 16 (6, 5, 5)
Terrell & Cheryl 15 (5, 5, 5)
Barbara & Keo 14 (5, 4, 5)

To watch the dances again, see Idolxfactor.com (these videos work internationally) and the official Your Tube page.

Ok, onto some media, recaps, and interviews. First up, see People. I loved what Victoria Arlen said of her dance below. Be sure to read more from others at the link;

“I feel like as much as it was seven years ago, I can go right back there and I saw a particular clip of me in the hospital and suddenly I was right back there trying everything to get something out of my legs,” said Arlen, who was visibly emotional and wiped away tears before performing. “To have watched this show through those challenging times and to finally be here, and then to look over and Val was getting emotional too, I was like, ‘I’m about to dance here in pink fringe and sparkles.’ It was just very surreal and incredibly emotional and far beyond anything that I could ever imagine. It was one of those moments where I just thought, ‘I’m really glad I lived.’ ”

Although Arlen admitted that the dance was a “challenging” one to learn, she is proud of herself for achieving her goal.

“I did it. I survived and made it. I climbed to the top of the mountain and my feet did what I needed them to do. It was incredible. It was just something – you set these dreams when you’re little and you never imagine the things that are going to take place that will derail everything,” she shared. “And to be so derailed and for it all to fall apart just to come back and be better and sparklier and just to nail it was incredible. I was like, ‘Don’t cry on national television, Victoria.’ But I did.”
