PureDWTS Season19 Week 4 Media and Interviews After The Show

What a great night of TV again for Dancing With The Stars. Though I’m sad about Betsey Johnson’s elimination. πŸ™ I was hoping she’d stick around for a few more weeks. She was so lovable and fun. Every week she shocked me with the moves she could do. So, let’s head to some media. First, below is a recap and a special feature on Tom Bergeron below with ABC7. Also below are a few interviews coming out with Afterbuzz TV and Access Hollywood. Also, don’t miss some backstage reactions at Glamour. Note: so far, no hints on their switch up partners and next dances. However, atleast there is no elimination next week.

DWTS Season 19 Week FOUR!! Let’s discuss tonight’s show! (Spoilers)

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I expect tonight will be a big ole cluster f@#k. πŸ™‚Β Β Again, DWTS wants us to pimp the livestream so….you can view Lacey’s Stream on our site, just click the link.

Once again, comment to your hearts contents, as long as you remember the show night rules.

  1. Our server gets totally hosed when people sit at their computer and click “refresh” constantly. Post a comment, then walk away for five minutes so that others have a chance…and so that Courtney and I can actually post on the site. πŸ™‚
  2. THIS SITE IS NOT TWITTER. Do not post like you are on twitter. You get one warning and then I put you in time out. πŸ™‚ We need context and content. Believe it or not there are a lot of people who don’t watch the east coast feed of the show, so they don’t know what the hell you’re talking about when you post a comment that says, “Boy, that sucked.” Β If you want to say “____ and ____’s dance was not good at all, crappy choreo” that’s fine. That would be context. It is good. πŸ˜€ Β Remember, if you post five one liners in five minutes, you’ve broken rule number 1. πŸ˜‰

Interesting, Janel going first and Beth going 4th. I expect Bethany to have a much lower score than 40 (this show is a GAME after all, and we must have DRAMA), but we’ll see if that same curse holds true for Janel – she’s rather pimped. Although it’s getting hard to tell if it’s actually TPTB doing the pimping, or Janel herself. πŸ˜€

By the way, Courtney and I made some predictions on the Switch up pairings, check it out and see what you think!

What the hell was going on during the couples announcements?? Kept cutting to shots of the big ball. πŸ™‚

Janel and Jonathan are both safe right off the bat. Betsey in jeopardy.

Janel gets all 9’s, including one from America – for a jerky rumba. Which is hilarious (not) since about 3 out of 25 of my followers commenting said they could actually vote. Then it said I already voted for Jonathan when I certainly didn’t. Bastards.

Well, I’m baaaack!! I got to vote for Betsey and Bethany. Gotta disagree with Jules – I think there was plenty of content in that rumba. But who cares. She’s probably going to be safe next week, since her fans managed to get her a higher score from America, plus that song/dance was so emotional. That’s unusual tonight, after all. And if I hear anyone say they didn’t connect with Bethany, I may cut a bitch. πŸ™‚

Ahhh….I love Michael. But his dancing is not good. I gave him a high score anyway, to counteract those judges. πŸ™‚ Bill Engvall in the house, and teary eyed.

Someone want to explain to me why, when I vote for Bethany and Derek, the “related video” shown after I vote is Vajanel?? Shades of Meryl and Maks style pimpage which pisses me off like you wouldn’t believe.

Oh, I love Lea – and this is when I remind you all that I’ve been saying Lea can DANCE. πŸ™‚ America is crappy. πŸ™‚

Really, America – now you’re overscoring Antonio?? Geez. This does make me wonder if he will last longer than I think, though. Although I thought he was going home tonight and that’s clearly not the case. πŸ™‚

Tommmmmyyyyy!!! No, you’re not leaving me. No. He’s in jeopardy though. πŸ™‚ That jive wasn’t great…but I just love him.

WTF?? And you people were worried about Julianne?? WTF do CAI and Bruno have against Sadie?? Give the girl some damn 10’s!! Or does that not fit tonight’s agenda?? That dance was more than 1 point better than Janel. Stingy M’fers.

What part of “THIS IS NOT TWITTER” do some of you not understand. Do I have to start banning people??

Okay, we have Michael, Tommy and Betsey in Jeopardy…..SPOILER….

Next couple safe is: Tommy and Peta

Betsey and Tony are eliminated. She had a great run and she very graciously thanks everyone.

PureDWTS Season 19, Week 5 – Partner Switch Predictions!

So there’s a few hours left to tweet your votes for the partner switch in week 5, but we thought we’d go ahead and try to predict who’s gonna end up with who based on the tweet counts from Topsy.Β  Last season, we tried using Keyhole (a much more comprehensive method of measuring the frequency of tweets), but since TPTB basically gave everyone the middle finger and did whatever they wanted with the results of the partner switch voting, we didn’t really want to spend the money to try and do that again. So Topsy will have to do for now πŸ™‚ And while it would be great to be able to measure the switch voting being tweeted from the ABC website, there’s no really good way to do it – so for the sake of simplicity, we’re just going to assume that the voting from the ABC website is probably mirroring whatever the people manually tweeting are doing.

A quick explanation as to how the votes are tallied: they start with the highest vote-getting combination of any of the possible combinations, and begin pairing off down the list of vote totals until everyone has a partner (that isn’t their original partner, mind you).Β Β  So using this methodology, even if Janel’s highest vote-getting combo is with Mark, she may not actually end up with him if he has a higher vote total with another contestant.Β  Likewise, even if Betsey doesn’t have the highest vote-total with Artem, she may get him because his other high vote-getting combos have already been taken.Β  Make sense? We also tried to take into account any nicknames that the pros and/or celebs have, as both might count (i.e. Val and Valentin, Beth and Bethany, etc.).

Some random observations that we made when looking at the totals: like last year, a helluva lot more people seem to care about who the male pros end up with, than the female pros.Β  It’s a bit sad, actually – almost every single combination that had a male pro’s name in it had totals in the thousands, while only a handful of the combinations with female pros’ names in them even broke into the thousands.Β  I’m guessing the Ballas/Hough vs. Chmerkovskiy Entourage rivalry is fueling that one, and Rob Wade & Co. are laughing all the way to the bank.Β  Also interesting: if the partner switch voting has any sort of correlation with the actual voting done to keep couples in the competition, than Lea may have a lot more people voting for her than we originally assumed – likewise, assuming the same correlation, Janel may not have as many people voting for her as we may have originally assumed.Β  Food for thought. New DWTS Season 19 Week 4 Las Vegas Odds: What do you think?

The odds makers at Sports Bovada have made their new predictions. It’s amazing how tight they are this season for the top seven. Have we ever had that many contestants so close like that? Note too how Tommy Chung just entered this top group as well and rightfully so in my opinion. *sigh in remembering his “Scent Of A Woman” dance. That dance is going down as one of my all time favorites! Though note how Antonio Sabato Jr. has fallen from last weeks odds. The odds makers are still putting Betsey Johnson and Michael Waltrip at the very bottom too. So, what do you think? Are the odds makers right this time? I think Bethany Mota should be in the top spot. I also think Sadie Robertson should have better odds. They should atleast have her in 4th position? Let’s see what Heidi and Courtney think. Be sure to let us know what you think too.

Janel Parrish 2/1
Bethany Mota 9/4
Alfonso Ribeiro 4/1
Lea Thompson 7/1
Sadie Robertson 10/1
Tommy Chong 12/1
Jonathan Bennett 14/1
Antonio Sabato Jr. 33/1
Betsey Johnson 66/1
Michael Waltrip 200/1

Last week’s Odds:

Alfonso Ribeiro 5/2
Lea Thompson 11/4
Janel Parrish 3/1
Bethany Mota 5/1
Sadie Robertson 7/1
Antonio Sabato Jr. 20/1
Jonathan Bennett 20/1
Randy Couture 33/1
Tommy Chong 50/1
Betsey Johnson 100/1
Michael Waltrip 200/1

Courtney: One perfect score does not a champion make, oddsmakers – I know you’re just totally sold on Janel now, but I still think Alfonso is *almost* a sure thing (provided that TPTB resist the urge to do too much tinkering, which I can’t guarantee).Β  I’d put money on it that he’s back at the top of the odds next week, because I have a feeling he’s going to SLAY this jazz.Β  And I think Sadie’s got more staying power than Lea at this point.Β  As for the tail end of the of odds – ehhh, I think Mike has better odds than both Betsey & Antonio, simply because he’s charming.Β  I think Jonathan is in the right place – I’m becoming a bit dubious about how many votes he’s getting.

Heidi: I think the top 6 is right, just in the totally wrong order. πŸ™‚ Β These odds makers blow with the wind (aka scores) with no concept of the votes – or in the history of this show. Β I think this season still belongs to Alfonso, and I would wager that Bethany fares better than Janel – although I don’t know if she’ll be in second place. Β I would bet, right now, that Lea takes 6th place, Janel 5th, Tommy 4th, Sadie and Bethany will be 2nd and 3rd – just not sure in which order – and Alfonso in the top spot. Β BUT, I may change my mind depending on what they do to Alfonso this week. The man is easily the best dancer on the show, but sometimes, they try to keep the best dancers down to suit some agenda. Last season it was Charlie that was dogged so that Meryl could succeed. What I can’t see is why they need for Janel or Bethany to succeed over Alfonso – what is the motivation there?? Β Is it all about the kids?? Could be. And why the f@*k can’t they just score them appropriately?? I watched Janel’s dance again and it’s was lots of flash, but really not all that much substance. Why are they giving out a 40 to ANYONE in week 3, including Bethany (although they had little choice after giving Janel one), while giving the best dancer (Alfonso) and 8 point disadvantage?? So, one of two things will happen: they will either continue to pan Alfonso (at which point I change my thoughts on the final 4 rankings) or we will see a big reversal for DRAMA – that is, Bethany and Janel take a tumble, while Sadie and Alfonso rise to the top.

READ New DWTS ABC Press Release On Show Details And 4th Judge Scoring Carefully

ABCNedianet has released new show information for Dancing With The Stars Season 19 Week 4. It outlines the show details, how “we” are the 4th judge and how we score, and how Colbie Caillat will be performing. It also explains the Switch Up Voting. Read carefully for INSTRUCTIONS….

β€œEpisode 1904” – The 10 remaining celebrities dance to songs commemorating their most memorable year on MONDAY, OCTOBER 6 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Each couple will dance to a song of the celebrities choosing that encompasses a memorable time or experience in their life. These heartfelt performances promise to be some of the most exciting and emotional of the season. Musical artist Colbie Caillat will perform.

Even more power is in the viewers’ hands next week. For the first time ever, America can act as a guest judge and score celebrity performances alongside Julianne Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. To be part of the Judges’ table, viewers must visit abc.com to score performances. A combined overall viewer score for each performance will be counted alongside the judges’ score. Each viewer may score a performance once, and the scoring window for each couple is open for two minutes and fifteen seconds, beginning at the start of each routine. At the end of the night, one couple will face elimination based on the previous week’s scores and public vote.

Twitter voting for the β€œSwitch Up” continues, and the public can continue to vote throughout Monday’s program. To vote, viewers must Tweet using #DWTS followed by the first name of the celebrity and the first name of the professional dancer. For example, to pair up celebrity Betsey Johnson and professional dancer Mark Ballas, use the Tweet β€œ#DWTSBETSEYMARK.” In addition, abc.com will have a page dedicated to assisting viewers in casting their votes. There is no limit on the number of votes one person can cast. Voting for the β€œSwitch Up” remains open until Monday, October 6 at 11:59 p.m., ET.

DWTS Season 19, Week 3 – Dancing by the Numbers!

So, everyone was surprised to see Randy go – as was I. But in looking back to last weeks β€œDancing by the Numbers” post, we probably shouldn’t have been. We’re dealing with SMALL numbers here, and Tavis and Randy were both in a four-way tie, only 11k votes per million votes cast above Michael.Β  What does that mean? Well, it means that for Betsey and Tommy to be safe, they only needed ONE more vote than Randy and Tavis. ONE.Β  It also means that Michael got 11k more vote per million votes cast than both Tavis and Randy (at least). Really, is that SO surprising? Watching Betsey and Tommy last night, I’m not surprised either of the survived. Michael over Tavis – yes, we called that. Michael over Randy?? Ummm…that’s a bit more surprising. But the DWTS audience has shown time and again that they love guys like Michael.Β  Problem is, they also love the Betsey’s and the Tommy’s – as do I.

That means one of two things. First is that Michael’s time has very possibly run out. The second is that if Michael’s time hasn’t run out, watch out Antonio.Β  But I get ahead of myself – I haven’t even looked at the numbers yet – that’s just my sense of things in Week 3, going into week four (ALREADY!!).

Anyway, let’s take a look at last night’s scores and percentages:

Table 1

Since Randy had a score awarded to him, I’ve included that in my total. Do they do it that way? Well, they say total judges points awarded, but who knows. At this stage it makes little difference in the votes needed. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 19, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What….and When? (Song Spoilers)

Well, some interesting dances this week. I will have to see all of the song/dance combinations to see if I really believe these songs were chosen by the dancers. Bethany and Janel having the same style AGAIN stretches credulity a bit far, if you ask me. It also occurs to me that the reason Alfonso was underscored last week is because they knew he’d come roaring back with “the Carlton” this week. πŸ™‚

ETA: Welp, some signals got crossed and we made a boo-boo – Lea is dancing to “Dance with My Father” and Jonathan has a samba.Β  Lo siento πŸ™ Bloggers are human,Β  too.Β  And we’re fairly certain that Janel’s dancing to Sam Smith’s cover of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” – which is pretty awesome, if you haven’t seen it yet.

ETA2: Same song, different artist apparently, for Bethany and Derek.

ETA3: Finally got Mike’s song!!

ETA4: Hey, Rob Wade replied to me on Twitter!! I was whining about not getting the rules for the “You Raise the Paddle” thingy and he responded with “Go to abc.com at 7:30, get signed in and wait for the first couple” – something along those lines. And guess who’s up first!!
