Lots Of Thoughts And Prayers For Former Dancing With The Stars Contestant Maria Menounos

Keep your thoughts and prayers with former Dancing With The Stars contestant Maria Menounos. She has stepped down as co-anchor of E! News in the wake of surgery to remove a brain tumor. Maria’s surgeon was able to remove almost 100% of the tumor, which was benign, during a complicated seven-hour surgery, but, there is a six to seven percent chance that it could come back. Maria’s mom also has stage 4 cancer. Below is more from NBC26 via People and E News.

“Our thoughts and support go out to Maria and her family and we wish them all the best knowing that Maria will tackle this with the same fierce dedication she is known for,” Adam Stotsky, president of E! Entertainment, said in a statement. “We are grateful for Maria’s many contributions to E! over the past three years.”

“I just want to be still for a bit and see what I’m supposed to be in this world,” Menounos said. “For me, sharing this story is important on so many levels.”

The diagnosis came after Menounos began feeling lightheaded on set and suffering from headaches and slurred speech in February.

It also came at a time when the TV personality, who also hosts a Sirius XM radio and has appeared on “Dancing with the Stars,” was grappling with another family medical issue: Her mother has stage 4 brain cancer.

Menounos said she views it all as a “blessing” that has brought her family closer.

It’s also made her re-evaluate her life and health, she said.

“We’re caretakers as women and we put ourselves last,” she told People. “I tell people all the time if your car is making a weird noise, you take it to the mechanic. How come when our body is making weird noises, we ignore it? I’m so lucky that I went to the doctor and raised the alarm.”

Prays hard for this family! For more In detail, see NBC26. Thaks to Lori for the heads up.

Dance Pro Tony Dovolani Makes Cancer Victim’s Ballroom Dancing Wish Come True (Pics)

This is such a cool, inspirational story. Dancing With The Stars Tony Dovolani granted a wish through the “Make A Wish” Foundation to cancer victim Isabella Corcelli who loves ballroom dancing and Dancing With The Stars. Below is take of her story. Be sure to see Providence Journal for more including new pictures of she and Tony dancing. Thanks to @adwtsfan for the heads up.

To get in shape, she began working out at the college gym (even though, she says, “I’d rather play sports than go to the gym …”) and started running again.

“She’s getting her mojo back,” her mother said.

This weekend, she and her mother stayed at the DoubleTree hotel near Rockefeller Center. They lunched at the East Side restaurant Serendipity (cheeseburger and a “frozen hot chocolate”). And Corcelli danced with Dovolani at his Soho studio, “Dance With Me.”

“He came in, and he’s like, ‘Let’s start dancing!’” Corcelli said. “He showed me the routine, we practiced a little and we did the final dance.”

It took her less than an hour to learn the salsa routine he’d choreographed. Then they spent the next hour dancing.

Said Corcelli: “I enjoyed every moment of it.”

ETA: You can watch a video of Tony and Isabella dancing here. Tony also helped to promote Maks Chmerkovskiy’s new “Cantamessa Men” jewelry line this week. He also helped Extra interview at the Westminster Dog Show (seen below). Also on Feb. 19th, you can watch Tony on The Exes.

PureDWTS Guest Blog: “I am alive today because of Chelsie Hightower”

PureDWTS reader Byrl Alexander has sent us a guest blog telling us of his scare with Cancer recently and how pro dancer Chelsie Hightower has helped him. He feels he owes Chelsie a lot. Read on to see why. This is a great and inspiring story for us all. Thank you Byrl and lots of positive thoughts and prayers set your way!! Keep on walking!!

This is a true story and I am alive today because of Chelsie Hightower. Update on me, I go in on the 31st of December for my 11th treatment of chemo and have one left on Jan 14th 2014 and then run a scan and I’m done with my treatments, so far I am beating cancer.

I have been a fan of Chelsie Hightower for many years. Back in January 2013 I was talking to her online,I asked her a question and Chelsie told me that I spend to much time on the computer, which I had all ready heard this from my wife and daughter as well. She offered three things I could do and I took her up on take a walk. Since I had started my own diet on Jan 1st 2013, I thought this was an ideal idea, as exercise and diet go hand in hand when losing weight. Chelsie told me to report to her daily on everything I did that was productive, and held me accountable. I never missed a day. If she had not mentioned walking that day, I would have waited until warmer weather, but by starting back in January, I was making good progress by the time the weather did turn warm. Chelsie Hightower saved my life, and I don’t know if she realizes that when she suggested I take a walk and report in daily, that she saved my life. These words saved my life (Take a Walk)

On June 21st I was admitted to the North Kansas City Hospital, in my hometown, for unusual symptoms. I ended up getting a colonoscopy and the doctors found a tumor on my colon, which was malignant. When the doctor delivered this news, I looked at him and told him I would beat this; at the same time he told me if I had not been walking and lost 75 lbs., that I would not be alive today. Walking saved my life, and I had an operation on June 25 to remove the tumor and some of the colon. I also have cancer on the liver as well, but the last visit to my Doctor he said that my liver had not increased in size which made he and I both happy. I have had 9 Chemo treatments and will have a PET scan on some time in January to see how my condition is progressing, . I still walk and will be walking all year as both of my doctors told me walking is my key to good health. I do everything I’m told to do.

I had went from 275 to 196, but both of my Doctors want me to stay at 205, so you can say I lost almost 80# my goal was 100# but that may never happen.

Chelsie needs to be recognized for saving a life, I have told her many times thanks for saving my life, but the world needs to know this and her family as well. I even sent her a bouquet of flowers thanking her. Chelsie is my angel. As a footnote, Chelsie knows me, I met Chelsie here in Kansas City, Mo back in June of 2012, and I also went to see her dance in person at Prior Lake Mn this past May.

I still will have to report to the doctor ever so often for lab work and scans the rest of my life.

A Report On Dancing With The Stars Rumored Contestant Valerie Harper’s Health Condition

Being Valerie Harper is a strong rumored contender to dance on Dancing With The Stars Season 17 and being this is such an inspirational story anyway, below is a recent report on her and her health condition that took place on Today with Merideth Vieira this past Thursday! I just love how Valerie is so positive and currently defying the odds with her brain cancer. Sure, worst conditions could strike at any time and she might be buying time, but, I think her doctor is right for how he said “life is about buying time” and for us all. There is a cool spread on Valerie and this story at the Daily Mail as well. Just a heads up and for those interested: there is going to more to this report and interview with Valerie and Merideth Vieira on September 19th.
