DWTS Season 21, Week 2 Night ONE – Dancing by the Numbers

Yep, still on Vacay, but I do manage to find a spare hour here and there to jot down a few notes and numbers.

Not really surprised to see Chaka go last night. I think I said quite some time ago that either Chaka or Kim would be the first out. Thought it would be Kim, since her dance was so bad…but Chaka had Keo and that guy can’t seem to get it together. Ah well. Both Chaka and Kim improved a lot last night, but I don’t know if it will be enough to save Kim. Here’s how the leader board stacked up. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

JC Rubio’s Dancing With The Stars Periscope Behind The Scenes Extras Week 2

Hey All! If you go to JC Rubio’s Periscope, you can watch him behind the scenes with the couples last night during and after the show. @IdolXFactor1 also put it up at You Tube for us in case you don’t have the right browser to see it at Periscope (see below). This gives you a good idea what it’s like LIVE backstage for everyone. Too fun. For JC Rubio’s interviews in high quality, see Afterbuzz.

Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Week 2 – Monday Night LIVE BLOG

As Heidi is still on vacay, you guys get me (Court) manning the live blog tonight – and let’s just say tonight has the makings of a perfect storm of things that could go wrong 😯 The Colts are playing Monday Night Football, so my ABC is currently showing that game and I’m winging it with a live feed of DWTS on my laptop; and my internet connection has been pretty shoddy lately (thanks, AT&T) so it’s entirely possible that I may miss entire dances – so please, bear with me if I’m not posting 100% in realtime.  Doing the best I can, given the circumstances 🙂

Random though while trying to find a feed to watch: I had no idea that Jeopardy! doesn’t air on the same network everywhere. Apparently in NY, it’s on ABC; where I live, it’s on NBC; and someone else tweeted that it airs on FOX where she lives.  How did I not know this???

Thoughts going into tonight: two dances in week 2 is kind of overkill. Hoping Alek can deliver two performances as strong as his foxtrot last week.  Praying that Victor isn’t the first (or second) one out; will be shocked if Kim isn’t sent packing by the end of the night.

Looks like some people are using their birthplaces and some aren’t – interesting.  Announcer guy stepped on Tom’s line – aaaaand my feed just froze for the first time.

Hmmm…Nick’s not quite as adept at jive as he is cha-cha. Not convinced anymore that he’s gonna coast all the way to the finale…

Ok, Paula actually did kind of awesome – and I gotta commend Louis for sticking to solid basics.  I think she redeemed herself.

Soooo many commercials…

Hayes’ mom is gorgeous. And that foxtrot wasn’t too shabby – he’s doing something weird with his arms, but it was pretty nice.

Heidi Here, stepping in because my cruise ship TV is doing a bit better than Court’s stream. 🙂 I gotta say, Hayes might be a contenda!

Er…did Chaka move her feet? I did look away for a moment. Just sayin’ – she didn’t when I was watching. 15 actually sounds a bit right.

PIMP SPOT goes to Bindi!! From our source. 🙂

Shhhiiiiii….Andy just busted out a really good dance. I think Bruno might be slightly on crack. Yeah, I saw him go off time a bit, but I think calling it a “mess” for week 2 is kinda silly.

Big improvement from Kim, although you could drive a truck between them. Maybe be too little too late.

Sorry…got distracted. Yeah, Mark called it. Alexa improved a good bit, but I’m still not really impressed. Why the OTT costume? Maybe I’m not paying close enough attention?

I love Victor so much…but that was a bit of a mess.

Maybe you should have left it at Salsa, Tamar. Not terribly impressed with the Cha cha. She’s throwing her arms away, for one thing, Man, “a class of her own?” That’s some hyperbole right there.

Lead in to commercial making me a bit…grrrr. Just saw Tamar dance. The rest was Nick and Alek…yet Bindi and Derek had the most watched dance on youtube last week and were no where to be seen.

Gary = Goofy Goodness

Carlos is definitely a contender. I thought that dance was a bit…tiny bit dull, but good. I’m not sure I *like* him as much as I like some of the lesser dancers.

The thing that disappointed me about Derek and Bindi was that the dance was TOO SHORT. I feel like they got hosed. I might have to time it compared to some of the other dancers.

Yeah, not buying that Kim wasn’t in the bottom. I figured Kim would be gone, but Chaka was my second choice. I’ll try to do the numbers tonight, but have a hard time believing that her name wasn’t even mentioned. Gary the Red herring??

DWTS Season 21, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers

As you know, I’m technically vaycay, but I thought I would step in and do the numbers for week 1…quickly. You may be on your own for week 2. We’ll see.

All in all, a great week. No clear cut winner…not even sure that Nick totally has it in the bag anymore. Jury is out. But we’re a long way from the finale. 🙂 My top dancers are Bindi, Nick, Carlos, Alexa. Loved Alek, but I’ll be shocked if he pulls out another good dance. Loved Victor – so cute. Actually, there was no one I didn’t like except Kim…and that was one bad dance. I don’t see how she pulls it out this week, frankly. Here are the scores and their percentages:

table 1

It should be clear that nearly everyone is safe on Monday night. Kim, Chaka, Victor, Paula and Gary are all down there at the bottom and at least 32k votes away from Hayes and Andy – and neither them should be in danger based on that buffer zone. As you can see below.

table 2

I personally would be shocked if either Paula or Gary go home, just based on personality. I also think (hope??) that Victor will be safe. I think it’s going to come down to Kim and Chaka. What it boils down to is this:
– Kim needs 4,000 more votes per million votes cast than Chaka, OR;
– Kim needs 12,000 more votes per million votes cast that ONE OF Gary, Paula or Victor.

Do you think she can do it? I sure don’t. I think Kim goes. If not Kim, well, Chaka needs:
– Chaka needs 8,000 more votes per million votes cast to beat either Gary, Paula or Victor.

She might beat Victor, but I don’t think Kim beats Victor OR Chaka…therefore, I think Kim goes home.

How’s that for not belaboring the point? 🙂 Don’t worry, I’ll get way more long winded once vacation is over. 🙂
