PureDWTS Witney Carson And Chris Soules To Dance Again In Ballroom With A Twist

Heads up to those living in Palm Coast and Lakeland Florida, Dancing With The Stars Witney Carson and Chris Soules are reuniting to dance again in “Ballroom With A Twist”. Chris talks all about it with The Daytona News Journal. Here is a take from the link. For tickets, go here or here.

Carson didn’t repeat as victor in season 20 — “her hopes of becoming champion were pretty dim once she had me as a partner,” Soules said — but she’ll be paired with him once again on the Ballroom with a Twist tour, which stops in Palm Coast Wednesday evening.

The tour showcases a robust roster of TV stars from shows such as “American Idol,” in addition to the aforementioned dance-centric series.

Though Soules stumbled upon fame inadvertently, Carson and many of the other Ballroom with a Twist cast members have pursued careers in entertainment and the arts since childhood.

Carson said she auditioned for “So You Think You Can Dance” right out of high school when the show came to her home state of Utah. “My mom actually pushed me to do it last minute,” Carson wrote in an email interview. She not only made it onto the show, but reached the top six.

She was hired on as a troupe dancer for “Dancing with the Stars” soon after, and within a season was promoted to professional dancer status. Her specialties are Latin and ballroom dancing, because they are “graceful yet so powerful,” she said. “I love the way two people move together to create magic. It’s one thing to do it but yourself but with two people you have to be completely in sync. It takes discipline and trust!”

As Carson’s partner on “Dancing with the Stars,” Soules said trust came fairly easily. Her status as reigning champ didn’t hurt. “I had a lot of confidence in her. For a (22-year-old), Witney is extremely talented, smart and mature.”

In Ballroom with a Twist, Carson will be paired with Soules for a jive, “the first dance we did on Week 1, then we’ll do contemporary, which is the dance we received the highest score on later in the season. So they’re two of my favorite dances to perform,” said Soules.

One of his favorite dances from a choreography perspective was the cha-cha, but don’t expect him to break it out Wednesday. “I completely screwed it up during the live portion of the show and we scored really horribly,” he said. “… I think I kind of cracked in to the pressure that week.”

While the show was “one of the most stressful experiences I’ve ever had,” Soules said, and at times “I literally thought I was gonna lose my mind” when faced with the crowd and cameras, “it was exciting and scary at the same time.”

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, THE FINALE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Sounds like we’re going to get a whole bunch of contemporary, whether we like it or not. I say not, for the most part. It’s so over done now. Geez, I’m not old enough to be whining about the Good ole days, but that’s what I feel like doing. 🙂 Remember Derek and Jennifer’s freestyle – simple dance, but so nostalgic and tailored perfectly for Jennifer. Half the internet screamed “She carried a watermelon!!” What about Hines Ward? Love it or hate it, that Freestyle was different. As was Amber Riley’s. I could go on, but what’s the point?

Thing is, when you do contemporary, you’re now working against a very strong couple of dances from Derek and his partners. Unless you really go out there, you run the risk of being very derivative. Although that’s not really new for one of our couples. 😉 Anyway, I still have high hopes for Noah and Sharna – theirs looks like it has potential. The rest? Jury is definitely out.

I got this info from the press release via @DWTSGossip. Could have gotten it myself but I can’t find the damn password to the ABC site and the lovely Vogue is taking care of some personal stuff. 🙂

In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, MAY 19 (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET), the show kicks off with a high-energy opening number featuring a reunion of all 12 of this season’s couples in addition to the judges and hosts. Then, one couple will perform an encore of their Freestyle dance as decided on by the judges. The finale will also feature a performance to “Juicy Wiggle,” by RedFoo and encore performances by Charlotte McKinney and Keo Motsepe to “California Girls,” Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani to “Copacabana” featuring six additional dancers, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson to “Bills,” Chris Soules and Witney Carson to “Footloose,” Willow Shields and Mark Ballas to “Alice’s Theme,” Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough’s Charleston to “Honey, I’m Good” featuring a performance by Andy Grammar and much more. The night will also include a reprise performance from Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev to “In Da Club,” and the Grammy award winning artist will also perform her hit song “2 Steps Away.” Additionally, fan favorites from past seasons Amy Purdy, Alfonso Ribeiro and Sadie Robertson return to the ballroom for special performances. Sia will perform her hit song “Elastic Heart” with a special dance performance by Derek and Julianne Hough. The star studded night will continue with a performance by Jason Derulo singing his hit song “Want To Want Me.” In the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24 Hour Fusion Challenge.” The remaining couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for additional judges’ points. At the end of the night, the winner of the Gold Mirrorball trophy will be announced!

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

The Dancing Poetry Corner – “Judge”Ment Night In The Ballroom

“Judge”Ment Night In The Ballroom

Whereas, it was declared on the 11th Day of May, 2015, that Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonoili, and Len Goodman, have issued an edict. Said edict requires each pair, Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Nastia Luikin and Derek Hough, and Sharna Burgess and Noah Galloway, to follow their choices for dances, costumes, and music for Week 9 Semi-Finals.

Teeth chattering, hands wringing, nerves jangling, said pairs hunkered down in rehearsals with their designated Judge. “Here comes the Judge” was heard echoing throughout the rehearsal complex.

Said pairs had the pressures of learning two dances for the Semi-Finals. The race was as tight as a mammoth rubber band tightened around the Ballroom. Our own tensions were as tight as a drum! Electricity pulsated out of every pore, every corner of the Ballroom. The quality of dancing was higher than a kite in the sky!

Wherefore, in the annals of the Dancing With The Stars Memory Books, the declaration is:

Signed, Sealed, and Delivered, it was:

“Judge”Ment Night In The Ballroom

The Power-Propelled Opening
