Lindsay Lohan Turns Down ‘Lucrative Offer’ From Dancing with the Stars
If true, I’m sad. I’d love to see Lindsay Lohan dance and a what a cool way to show another side to herself than what tabloids report!!! I love her as an actress and nothing will change that. Below is more from TMZ for how Lindsay turned down a huge offer from Dancing With The Stars!!
Lindsay Lohan’s ego might be her downfall — because TMZ has learned, she just shut down a lucrative offer to do “Dancing with the Stars” … because she doesn’t want to do reality TV.
Sources close to Lindsay tell us, the actress was made several offers to join the DWTS cast this upcoming season — offers that maxed out at $550,000.
But Lindsay — who still owes hundreds of thousands in back taxes — shut them down, telling friends she’d never consider doing reality TV … she wants to stick to films.
You can read more at TMZ. What do you think? You can tell us. 😀
I’m with you on this one, would have loved to see her on. Despite her personal issues ive always loved her acting also. I think if paired with the right partner (tristan or so), this could have done loads to rebuild her public image and her pocket…too bad
You said it Yo!!!
I’m torn about this….. One one hand, I do think DWTS could be good for her, with the right partner, as Yo said. On the other hand, anyone having her as a partner could be an instant handicap, because she has many issues right now, and I think it’s questionable whether she will be able to keep herself under control enough to endure the physical rigors that they go through while training. Yet on another hand (I think I need many here), maybe the rigors will be good for her, and to help her learn about herself what she needs to learn, to finally get back on the right path…. Save her own life maybe? And, another hand, I still feel like having her is going to be a huge distraction to everyone else, waiting for the inevitable train wreck.
I don’t know……
I’ve learned long ago to never say never ….so many contestants have turned out to be completely different than I initially thought, so i’m willing to give anyone a shot. And I think, with the right attitude, DWTS could be a good thing for LL, but I don’t see her as having the right attitude right now, and agree with Lori – she would not only be a handicap to her partner (oh no, not sweet Tristan, not so soon after train wreck Pamela. BTW – Pam was only a train wreck in the All Star Season, LOVED her in her season with Damian), but also a complete distraction for everyone else (who would choose to practice elsewhere about 2 weeks into rehearsals LOL). I wish Lindsay godspeed to recovery – she has huge talent and is a beautiful girl, but she needs to get her head straight (IMO) before she’ll be able to reap the benefits of her talents. Such a waste, i often think. She’d never to reality TV? Really? Remains to be seen, I think (so funny the things famous people will do for money and notoriety).
Should she decide that DWTS could garner her some positive PR, then I think she should be partnered with someone completely new to the Pro lineup.
I think Lindsey has a lot to clean up in her life before she even thinks about doing something else. I don’t think the structure etc… of DWTS would do anything for her but exacerbate every problem this poor girl has. DWTS is not the intense, private, non-star, rehab that is so obvious to me that she needs. Trainwreck? This girl is an asteroid wreck and I really wish that there was someone, somewhere who could help her. If this story is indeed true, and I think it probably is, then turning down DWTS is, in my opinion, one of the few smart moves Lindsey has made in the past years, no matter what the reason.
The problem with Lindsey is that she’s still hugely in denial. And if one doesn’t think they have a problem and doesn’t want help, then nothing will help them. DWTS can be very good for someone who actually WANTS help. I don’t think she’s there. Not even close. Her going on DWTS at this stage would be more harm than good. If she doesn’t think she has an image problem, then it won’t help her image. Only hurt it.
I agree with you girls. There is no way that LL is ready for the discipline and structure necessary to make it on DWTS. As long as she’s in denial and acting like the world is wrong and she is right, she won’t be able to tow the line. She can’t even follow the demands of the justice system in this country so what would make anyone believe that she would follow the rules and constraints laid down by TPTB. And, should she make demands that any of the other competitors are not privy to or able to negotiate, it just reeks of an unfair setup. Maybe someday she’ll see the error of her ways and I hope that happens before she kills herself. But, that remains to be seen. Fact is, she doesn’t have the support system she needs to clean herself up. Both her parents are train wrecks, so until she finds someone who will be her champion and guide her to where she should be to clean herself up, it’s just not going to happen and DWTS SHOULD NOT be in her future. Clean up and she might be able to enjoy the challenge.
I say yes but a future season after all her mess is cleaned up. Then, she would have nothing to worry about and could probably get on another ABC show as well or get her own show. She has talent and should start from tv where she probably would do really well.
If they had her on, TPTB would have to do everything they could to keep her around forever to get a good return on their investment and keep getting publicity. She might be enough of a train wreck so people wouldn’t vote for her. LOL if the show paid over half a mil and she went home week one. With LL’s attitude she might do everything she could to grab the money and get off ASAP.
Don’t mean to be rude but…She probably knows she’ll end up in jail before the season even starts.
I’m dumbfounded that they asked her for this season. Why? Because it shows, in a way I can’t ignore, what greedy, heartless bastards they are. They know $550K is a business cost they can forfeit because they’ll make it back and more, even if/when she tanks before/after week 1. They don’t give a rat’s a** that she’s a train wreck, that she’s an actual person who couldn’t make a stable decision if her life depended on it. This may be TV and entertainment but, c’mon, every action has a price. Figuring they’ll get something out of her carcass before she OD’s or crashes or gets too ugly does not deserve kudos.
I have to agree with Jay. And I think it also reveals the state of mind of the producers with their rumored choices thus far. A complete unknown who was in the news cuz Brent Musburger thought she was pretty, and a complete trainwreck, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Kate Goslin.
If this is the sort of person they are going for? Get your liquor cabinet stocked up – this season will be the season of the drinking game.
LOL to stocking up the liquor cabinet!!
Lindsay Lohan is Too lazy to do the hard work Dancing With The Stars requires !!! By the end of January according to reports, she will be in rehab or jail.
Strong points from both Jay and PH, and no, these peeks into the minds of the producers do not bode well for the coming season.
If these are the choices they make in the deliberative and calm period well ahead of the show, maybe it’s the producers who should start the drinking game early … perhaps they’d come up with more workable ideas.
I don’t get it… Does anyone even give a rip about Lindsay? Who cares?
So far this season’s rumored choices, SUCK!
I would love it if she did it. Working on something like this could be really good for her right now too. So I hope she reconsiders.
DWTS shouldn’t be about “fixing” people who clearly need professional help, and lots of it. You want to lose weight? Great. You’re coming back from or dealing with a long term physical illness or injury? Fine. You’re perfectly OK and just trying to reboot or redirect your career? Pretty much what this show was made for.
You need to first acknowledge that you need rehab then check yourself in and apply yourself for many months, not to mention cutting ties with your messed-up, toxic family? You’ve repeatedly shown yourself to be unreliable in terms of difficult things like actually showing up on time for work? Don’t visit that mess on any of the hard-working DWTS pros. Learn discipline on your own time, in private. Emotional issues are bound to come up during the course of the show for even the most stable contestants; starting with a train wreck (no offense to actual train wrecks) just isn’t fair to whoever would be saddled with her (and you know it would be sweet, patient Tristan, who deserves much, much better.)
I’d say shame on the producers for even considering Lohan, but they are clearly beyond shame. I guess it’s too much to hope that they’ll wake up and realize that filling the show with fun, outgoing people that viewers are interested in will garner them just as much press as manufacturing a nightmare.
With the casting rumors we’ve had so far, I can already tell that season 16 is going to be one of THOSE seasons.
Yeah, like justme (#18) said. Plus, the Lohan invite makes me feel bad about watching this show. When she was 17, she and her dad got into an argument on the expressway. No one denied that he pulled over and started banging her head on the hood. Her mom, in any other universe, would have lost custody for her batsh*t parenting. Saying that Lindsey should just separate herself is too simplistic. Almost no one can grow up like that and start over. This is going to end badly and, to me, she’s a sympathetic character. I wish her well but she can’t escape and no one out there really wants her to. TPTB see ratings – sometimes it is funny and fun but this invite was bloodthirsty. IMO.
@Jay (#20), I agree completely. My original post was written poorly; my frustration was not with Lindsay, but with DWTS for putting out an offer to her that is not some wonderful opportunity for her to heal or prove herself, but instead is pure exploitation. She’s clearly nowhere near far enough along in her rehab to take part in a highly disciplined and stressful competition, and for DWTS to put out the offer — it does indeed make me feel bad about the show. I can overlook them casting nobodies, but when they start seeking people who are truly lost (not just bitchy like Kate) just for the ratings the spectacle would bring, it’s incredibly uncomfortable.
I can’t help but compare Lindsay to Steve-O….. He went onto the show immediately from leaving rehab, and honestly, I DOUBTED that it would be a good thing for him, and that the stress and rigors of the show and the rehearsals would get him right back into the world he said he had left for good….. And I ended up cheering him on, and he really had a difficult time of it, and was injured…. And he never relapsed! HE learned well in rehab, and he learned during DWTS…..
Lindsay’s BEEN in rehab, and it hasn’t stuck. She was there because it was a way to avoid jail, and she obviously hasn’t learned anything. Being on DWTS would be the same….
I WISH she could take a page from Steve-O’s “book” and decide FOR HERSELF that she is ready to change, ready to cut out the questionable habits, and to get herself healthy. THEN, come on the show, she may learn she’s stronger than she thinks she is, even with the family she’s got.
Did anyone see the blurb about Dina Lohan being in talks with DWTS? She’s just as much a train wreck as her daughter. Anyone catch her on Dr. Phil? What an a** she is. There are so many other people to ask to be on the show. Why are they choosing these folks with mental illness? Honestly? Anyone have an answer to that? TPTB, feel free to comment here please.
Probably shouldn’t comment again (sorry!). With respect, Steve-O’s family was entirely different. He had a pretty normal childhood and even began college. Instead, picture being the breadwinner when you are 12. The breadwinner for parasites in the entertainment industry and your own household. Your only experience is with adults who are users, addicts, wannabes. No one is protecting you and, as all children do, you model what you know. Telling Lindsey to leave her mother and the only life and industry she knows is one hell of a tall order. Almost no one can do it. And, to be fair, most people try rehab several times before it sticks. Once she gets finished with a stint, where’s she going to go? Witness protection? She’s going to get killed by only thing/livelihood she has.
@Diane K, the Dina Lohan blurb that pops up at the bottom of this page refers to Season 13, not upcoming Season 16 — though I wouldn’t put it past the producers to reach out to her again.
I can almost FEEL the blog of outrage over the producers apparent choices for this season building up in me. Wonder what Courtney is doing. I have an idea. :::evil grin:::
@justme, apparently I didn’t read any further than Dina Lohan. Duh! Which brings up a point anyway. Why does Wetpaint keep on bring up old stories that are no longer relevant? Sorry everyone, OT.
DWTS could have been the best thing to happen to Lindsay Lohan in a long time! The exercise, the focus, and the competition all would be a healthy change for Linds. Seems what Lindsay really needs is a good manager who would have convinced her that a positive performance on DWTS would mean more movie offers as she proves herself a reliable performer.
Sadly, that’s the problem, Paula. She’s NOT a reliable performer and will not be until she stops denying she has a problem and gets her mental illness dealt with by competent professionals. And DWTS is definitely not equipped with those kinds of competent professionals.
Glad young Lindsay turned the show down. All money isn’t good money. Dwts should leave this controversial person alone. She needs help and I truly hope she seeks it out.
