PureDWTS Season 7’s Cloris Leachman Passes Away at 94

So today we lost another former contestant – season 7’s boisterous, sassy senior, Cloris Leachman. Per ABC News:

“It’s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time,” her longtime manager, Juliet Green, said in a statement. “There was no one like Cloris. With a single look she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh ’till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic.”

“She loved her children and her grandchildren ferociously. A lifelong vegetarian, she was a passionate advocate for animal rights,” Green added. “The family requests that any donations in her name be made to PETA or Last Chance for Animals.”

Green said Leachman died of natural causes in Encinitas, California.

To my knowledge, at 82 years old, she was the oldest contestant we ever had, and one of the funniest – I’ll never forget her hiking her leg up on the judges’ table during a critique to try and make eyes at Len πŸ™‚ I wish I could find a video of her in the season 7 hip-hop group dance, which treated us to Cloris with gold chains and a grill, mean-muggin’ in the background with Corky as the rest of the cast danced, but these dances will have to do – god, I had forgotten how entertaining she was, even when she wasn’t really sure of her choreography:

Godspeed, Cloris. If there’s a season 30, I had better see her name in a commemorative star on the dance floor next to Florence & Valerie’s πŸ™‚ Kinda sad that Corky’s only 2 former partners on the show have died…we’ve now lost #TeamFlorky and #TeamClorky πŸ™

Shirley Ballas To Write About Her Life, Dancing Career, Teaching Dance, And More

Copy and pasted from Pure Derek Hough! Where can I put my pre-order in?:
What a great read this is going to make. Shirley Ballas has announced at her Facebook page that she is going to write a new book. She plans to write about her entire career. She also plans to write about Mark Ballas….and of course Julianne and Derek. Here is more…

Not many teams achieved such wonders and went through so many ups and downs.

Including Changing partners. Having a baby. (Back then no one did that) then traveling all over the world for Marks first ten years with him. He was always the star of the show.

Sometimes we forget , but I feel proud of all I achieved and learnt in this industry I love so very very much.

For all the memories the tears and laughter I thank all those who where part of my journey.

I have been asked to write my book about a young girls life from the beginning in this industry. How I survived it. What I learnt. To the raising of Mark Derek and Julianne to all my relationships. I will be penning my life and the people who passed through my life. And the loyal and honest ones who remain in my life. The reasons why some passed through and some stayed. And course much much more. Exciting

Be sure to read her full announcement here.

PureDWTS Season 21 POLL: Who Do You Think the New Judge Will Be?

DWTSGossip dropped this interesting tidbit yesterday:

newjudge

Which seems to point to Len finally bowing out as head judge, and some new blood being brought in to round out the panel.Β  All signs seem to point to a male judge (not sure I could handle a panel of Carrie Ann “I Score with My Vagina, Not My Brain” Inaba, Bruno the Flamboyant, and Julianne, who can be a bit hit-or-miss), and a lot of folks seem to think it’s Tony – likely because he expressed interest in the position in an interview recently. Others are throwing out Louis & Maks’ names, and yet others are thinking it’s someone different altogether – I fall in the latter, as my gut is telling me that DWTS might borrow from another country’s version of the show and tap Jean Marc Genereaux from Danse avec les Stars in France (and DWTSGossip did mention that he/she had heard that DWTS France “would be involved in some way”).Β  I think there’s also a possibility that DWTS may try to “borrow” one of the ballroom choreographers from SYTYCD (Jean Marc or Tony Meredith fit the bill), or we might see Corky’s name thrown back in the mix. I do think the new judge will likely be someone who specializes in ballroom, though, as Len’s shoes are big ones to fill in terms of ballroom experience.

So assuming all of this is true – who do you guys think the new judge might be, and why? Tell us in the poll and the comments!

PureDWTS Season 19 Week 4 Guest Poem: “Memory Books Of A Dance”

What another fabulous new Dancing With The Stars poem from Lois!! Here she is with “Memory Books of A Dance”….

MEMORY BOOKS OF DANCE

Chapters in a book, chapters of life, a memorable year
Representing inspiration, loss, big breaks, lots of fear

Each year memorable and engraved in a Memory Book
Each dancer giving their dances their own special look

The opening, introduction to the Memory Books of Dance
A rousing, resplendent, razzle-dazzle, celebration stance

MEMORY BOOKS OF DANCE

Tears were shed, emotions flowing as an underground spring
Tissues pulled out of tissue boxes, memories were everything Read more..

Afterbuzz TV And Corky Ballas Review DWTS19 Week 4, See If You Agree?

What a great Afterbuzz TV show with Corky Ballas last night! I’ve only watched half the show so far, but let’s just say…he didn’t hold back! I was impressed right in the beginning when he said Sharna Burgess was a “firecracker and beautiful” and that her opening number was “edgy, quick, short, to the point, and HOTT.” Then when the reviews of the couples started, Corky called it straight up about Val and Janel saying their Rumba was “lame”, etc. He would have only given their dance a “7”. I loved it too when Kristyn pointed out Janel’s “flinging wrists” which kind of annoyed me too. Then when they got to Bethany, Corky mentioned how she has a “wall” up (something I noticed too but, couldn’t find the words for). But, as I just wrote at Pure Derek Hough, I didn’t agree about Bethany’s footwork though. I thought it was fine. But, wow, the opinion I really disagreed with was Anna’s. Wha? She would have only given Derek and Bethany a “6” and then compares her to Jonathan? As much as I like Anna, that was way too harsh. More below. Lot’s of great content to discuss and I hope they can get Corky again. Let us know what you think…

PureDWTS Weekend Media Tidbits And An Amusing Twitter Exchange To Wrap It Up

AnnaTrebunskayaAdMe

Awww, isn’t it good to see Anna Trebunskaya again?! She tweeted out the photo above when she attended an AdmeTech Foundation event last night.

Anna wasn’t the only dancer from Dancing With The Stars to make an appearance at a Red Carpet event these past few days. Below is troupe member Sasha Farber at the “Warm Bodies” premiere in Hollywood. You can see more pics of him at Getty Images. Girlfriend and troupe member Emma Slater was also pictured with him. You can see a picture of her with Sasha in this tweet.

SashaFarberWarmBodies

Speaking of Sasha and Emma, they’ve been making their rounds across the country dancing in “America’s Favorite Dancers”. You can watch one of their dance routines below. You can view more videos of them at Sasha’s You Tube Channel. So energetic, quick, and full of passion.

Derek Hough, Kym Johnson, Chelsie Hightower, Mark and Corky Ballas also made a showing at one of the “America’s Favorite Dancers” events in Marksville, LA. Corky tweeted the picture below of them out after dancing. You can view more pics and coverage of this show at Pure Derek Hough. Too fun and Derek is fine fine wearing a black satin lined suit. πŸ˜€

AmericansFavoriteDancers

Last, but, not least, and speaking of Corky Ballas, I ran on to this little twitter exchange yesterday that had me giggling. Note below how Lee Meriwether and Miss America would like to tag team with Mark Ballas to dance or better yet, Miss America can have Mark and Lee can have Corky.

LeeMeriwetherMissAmerica

Lol! So cute, but, don’t take this exchange too seriously. They are just having fun and as Heidi said privately to me, the season Lee stops talking on Dancing With The Stars all together is most likely when she will seriously be dancing. Then again, who knows? It’s fun to picture, dream or speculate on none the less.

And that is all for now, Beautiful Readers!!!! Have a great Sunday! πŸ˜‰ xxxxx
