SPOILERS!!! DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – The First Elimination

…is the unkindest cut of all. I always put in a bit of blather here so we don’t spoil those on twitter – even though I’m a firm believe that if you don’t want to know the results, get off the damn computer. 🙂

Anyway, our first elimination is Martina and Tony

Our mini scorecard reads as follows:

Courtney: Called Martina going home, with a slight possibility of it being Gavin

Heidi: Called Martina going home with a possibility of Gavin

John: Called Martina going home.

They did a real bottom two tonight for the first time since they wanted David Arquette to stick around. Odd choice tonight, I think. What do they have invested in Gavin??

DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers

Ai Ai Ai!!! If you are an overly sensitive fan of any of the couples, this post isn’t for you. What a crap ass night of scoring – the dancing was just fine and many couples excelled…but the judges made a secret trip to Columbia before the season started. And dropped a good bit of coin.

And really, you can’t get Derek and Maria’s phone number right?? Jesus – then you fix it (or try to) during Martina and Tony’s skybox chat..and, if I’m not mistaken, never show their number?? I try REALLY REALLY hard not to buy into conspiracy theories – the simplest explanation always being the best and all that (the simplest explanation is that some of the people working on this show are MUPPETS) – but when you so obviously overscore Sherri and (to a lesser extent) Roshon and then just totally screw over Melissa and Jack what do you expect me to do?? I can’t even describe my thoughts on William and Cheryl without using language that John doesn’t approve of. 🙂 I’ll just say…so William sticks his ass out and looks uncertain most of the time and he gets one of the higher scores of the night?? At least good old Len doesn’t have a vagina. I’m counting on him to keep it real where William is concerned. Now, if he would throw away the memo from the ABC brass that says “Score the family HIGH”, I would be so proud of him. Seriously, Martina would need well more than 22K votes more than William – they are VERY invested in protecting this guy.

Anyway, I could go on all day. Remember, the scores from last week and this week are added together for the couples total. The total number of points awarded is then divided into the couples total for their percentage of the judges scores. That counts for half of the couples total score. The other half is treated the same way – the total number of votes divided into the votes for a given couple. When you add the two percentages together, the couple with the lowest combined total goes home.

Let’s look at the couples and their percentages of the total:

The Judges Scores and Percentages

Place Celebrity Score Percentage
1. Katherine 52 9.65
2. William 49 9.09
2. Roshon 49 9.09
4. Jaleel 48 8.91
5. Maria 46 8.53
5. Sherri 46 8.53
7. Donald 45 8.35
8. Jack 44 8.16
9. Gladys 42 7.79
10. Gavin 41 7.61
11. Melissa 40 7.42
12. Martina 37 6.86

:::sigh::: It’s a great season and even the worst dancers are doing better than the best dancers in many other seasons…so why do the judges insist on playing crazy games?? Katherine did a great job, but in what universe does William get only one point less than her?? They weren’t even close. I don’t think William was even close to Maria. Roshon got the same score tonight as William – he is also not worthy of a point less than Katherine, but he was better than William by a good bit..and he’s such a little cutie. I didn’t think I would like him, but I really do! But he and Sherri’s status with ABC was really showing tonight. Melissa still has issues…but no way was she that much worse than Sherri who missed an entire pass. Who was appropriately scored, IMO?? Well, Gavin, Jaleel, Jack, Donald, Maria and Katherine – but when compared to how other couples were overscored (or in some cases underscored), I’m not so sure any more. Read more..

DWTS Season 14, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers

Curious as to where your favorite stands after one week of dancing?? You’ve come to the right place. That said – this could all be crap by the time the couples do their next dance.  I fully expect the judges to level the playing field (cuz they’re stupid like that) with the exception of their designated favorite. I have a feeling that will be Jaleel and William, if CAI and Bruno have anything to say about it. The Vagina vote wins every time. At least Jaleel is a kick ass dancer. William? Not so much. He’s alright. But starting out with overscoring so many people? Likely means they will do some leveling next week.

Anyway, let’s look at the couples and their percentages of the total:

The Judges Scores and Percentages

Place Celebrity Score Percentage
1. Jaleel 26 9.63
1. Katherine 26 9.63
3. William 24 8.89
4. Gladys 23 8.52
4. Roshon 23 8.52
4. Sherri 23 8.52
4. Jack 23 8.52
8. Maria 21 7.78
8. Donald 21 7.78
10. Melissa 20 7.41
10. Martina 20 7.41
10. Gavin 20 7.41

To give you some perspective, last season there was a much more realistic 3.5% spread between the top and the bottom. This season? Not so much.

Anyway, there is a lot of danger for a lot of people with the scoring so close. The only people truly safe are Jaleel and Katherine; even as little known (ringer) as she is, I don’t think that EVERY other dancer is going to get more votes than she did. Because that is what would have to happen. Jaleel will easily get the one vote that he needs, but the people  below her would each need the following for Katherine to go home.

  • Gavin, Martina and Melissa would EACH need to get 22,225 more votes than Katherine per million votes cast;
  • Maria and Donald would each need to get 18,520 more votes per million votes cast;
  • Sherri/Jack/Roshon/Gladys would each need 11,120 more votes than Katherine per million votes cast, and;
  • William would need 7,410 more votes per million votes cast than Katherine
  • That’s what it would take for Katherine to go home. Now, I think that Katherine has “shocking elimination” written all over her BUT, if she keeps the point spread like it is, she’ll be safe for a long while.  I doubt very much that Gavin is getting the votes to beat her right now, and I doubt Roshon is yet either.  I don’t really think that Maria and Donald are generating that many more votes than her yet, but that could easily change.  Her dance was pretty and very well executed, but as we’ve said ad nauseum around here – you have to have the whole package.  She strikes me as Audrina did – except Katherine (like Maria) has a much better partner. Plus Katherine has a lot more dance experience than Audrina did (but she had none, if I recall). Read more..

How Did Your Early Predictions For DWTS Season 13 Stack Up With The Results?

1.Forecasting the frontrunners. She predicts that J.R. Martinez will walk away with the Mirror Ball trophy this season, with Ricki Lake and Rob Kardashian not far behind.

The above quote was taken from Fitness Magazine from an interview with Anna. She made that winning prediction for Season 13 in October. As you can see she ended up being dead on with it. This got me thinking about our Dancing With The Stars early prediction posts before Season 13 started. Do you remember how you ranked the contestants before they started dancing and were you wrong, right, or close?

Some of you posted your thoughts in Marianya’s Prediction Stat Post while some posted their predictions in Courtney’s Part One and Part Two Preliminary Power Ranking posts. As you can see, Courtney and Marianya were pretty close for how the competition turned out. What’s interesting is Marianya was probably the only one from almost all of us who predicted Rob to do so well….and what’s more Marianya put him as high as 3rd place!

Heidi ended up being amazingly psychic as always when she predicted Kristin to “pull an Audrina” by exiting the competition early in Marianya’s Post. She predicted the same with Chynna. Heidi also predicted J.R. to win in her Part 2 Ringers Post.

Almost all of us chose Rob and Nancy to finish last. The majority felt pretty negative on those two. To our pleasant surprise, we ended up loving them. Rob and Nancy ended up showing other sides to themselves that we didn’t know about and staying in the competition more than many of us forecasted.

Anyway, take a look back at the links above if interested. It’s fun to see how close or far we came from the results and what we (the bloggers and fans) wrote. My early first prediction for the top five were David, JR, Ricki, Elisabetta, and Kristin…and well, we all know how that turned out. LOL!!

Dancing With The Stars Interview Round-Up ‘After The Results’ Week 1

ET and Access Hollywood has some fun interviews posted of the couples reaction after the Results were announced which I’ll go through below. But, be sure to visit On The Red Carpet for their interviews as well >>>>HERE. As always, George gets deep and the couples reveal a little on their dances next week!

First up, Elisabetta and Val!! They are so excited and relieved to be coming back! They thank everyone including everyone who voted in Italy. Val comments how next week will be completely different for props. They will be smaller than a bed and he plans to keep his shirt on (LOL!).

Chaz and Lacey go through the motions of how nervous they were during the elimination. Shaun comments that she had never seen a cast run up to a fellow cast member and give them lots of support when they were announced safe like they did with Chaz last night. I never have either. Way cool!!

Chynna tells Shaun how much her knees were shaking last night. Tony prepared her and said you can never count that you are safe on Results night, but, they are so relieved. Tony says his “crown jewels” are fine and he’s bought a cup for extra protection (LOL!!).

Nancy was sweating like never before last night. Her hands even shook like they did during her first trial. Tristan comments that you have to dance like it’s your last and just savor each moment on Dancing With The Stars even though the results show can be agonizing.

Below is David and Kym talking about their survival and the pressure and tension they put into the results show. They also discussion his good luck charm and his abs.

Be sure to see this interview round up too. It’s good!! Thanks to Heidi for this one!!

So, that is that!! Here’s to next weeks show. In the meantime, stay tuned for more news, interviews, etc….and, of course, Heidi and Court’s yummy Cheesecake that they are mixing and baking as I type!!! 🙂

Saying Good-Bye To Ron Artest: Interviews After The Results (VOTE On Next DWTS Elimination)

So, below is Jimmy Kimmel with a 2 part interview with Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd. The mood is a little glum and yet, Ron keeps his sense of humor too. They talk of how maybe he was too much for America to handle on Dancing With The Stars….the name change, the hair, etc.. Ron admits he’s never seen the show before his appearance. Jimmy invites Peta to stay on his show. They burn the biggest dance shoes they ever have.

Here they are being interviewed on Access Hollywood and Good Morning America as well…

So, let’s get some numbers and vote on who you think will be eliminated next on Dancing With The Stars? I’m voting for Rob Kardashian!

DWTS Season 13 Results (SPOILERS) and Scorecard!

Well, I told you guys I get it wrong as often as I get it right!! 🙂 That’s right, dance fans, Ron Metta World Peace Artest has left the building. The Berg doesn’t have to try to say Metta and Petta any more. 🙂 Hey, I did say it would be between him and Elisabetta.

Courtney called it with Ron going home, but then she was letting me sway her over to my way of thinking in the comments. 🙂

Keep in mind, everyone, that just because Nancy and the Leprecaun were standing up there at the end, it doesn’t mean that they were in the bottom two. I shouldn’t have to say this any more, but inevitably someone will worry about Nancy. Maybe she was in the bottom two, maybe she wasn’t.

Oh, and *Crossover Alert* – look who showed up to support their “good friend” Derek! NappyTabs! Don’t let Nigel see you, guys. 😉

DWTS Season 13, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers

Ah, it’s that time of year again. The time when everyone makes preseason predictions and picks favorites…and it all goes to hell in one dance. 🙂  Well, my preseason guess of JR Martinez as the one to beat holds true. Very happy with Ricki and Chynna, although I am afraid that Chynna won’t kill the latin and may fade into the wood work.  How much do I love Carson? Let me count the ways. 🙂

Anyway, I’m very afraid that no one is going to like my numbers – *I* don’t even like my numbers. 🙂 But they are what they are.  By the way, Maks fans, Tony fans and Karina fans missed out if they didn’t check out Ricki’s live Ustream tonight as all of those pros made appearances. 🙂 You might want to check it in upcoming weeks.

Okay, so what do the numbers say??

    The Judges Scores and Percentages

    Place Celebrity Score Percentage
    1. JR 22 10.14
    1. Chynna 22 10.14
    3. Hope 21 9.68
    4. Ricki 20 9.22
    5. Kristin 19 8.76
    6. David 18 8.29
    7. Carson 17 7.83
    7. Chaz 17 7.83
    9. Nancy 16 7.37
    9. Rob 16 7.37
    11. Elisabetta 15 6.91
    12. Ron 14 6.45

Well, first off, I think that Chynna, JR, Hope and Ricki are safe to dance next week. BUT, Chynna and Hope need to make a better impact next week – Hope needs to let Maks lead, and Chynna needs to have another great dance and get more personality. Like Courtney, I’m getting a real Audrina vibe from her and dancing can only save you for so long.  JR did a beautiful job, as did Ricki, and I don’t think anyone will forget them. At least, I hope not.

The middle of the pack?? Well, it’s freakin’ insane. There’s a whole bunch of meh with a hearty dose of WTF??  Of the middle of the pack, Chaz and Carson are the standouts – lovely surprises both of them. And I must say that her partnership with Chaz is making me into a Lacey fan.  And how much did I love that show of support by the male pros after Chaz danced and they’re getting ready to head back to the floor?? Very, very much.  Derek and Maks stood out to me as two of many who gave supportive back slaps. Read more..

DWTS12 End of Season Award Winners – What Was Your Favorite PureDWTS Feature?

Over 400 of you came out & voted in our End-of-Season Awards – wow! Now it’s time to see just what you guys thought were the bests & worsts of this season.  First up, we have the results of the “Favorite PureDWTS Feature” award:

John: This question is absolutely fascinating for me since I started Pure DWTS just because I figured people would be looking for the DWTS music the way I saw people looking for the SYTYCD music. Turns out, people do look for it almost as much. With all that traffic, I figured I should provide something more than music to keep people sticking around. Thus was born the DWTS Power Rankings. Then, once Heidi started posting all the DWTS rumors (that should have been on this list too I guess, along with the DWTS polls we do), people started creating basically full blogs posts in the comments. That’s how Courtney, Vogue, Marianya, Amanda and a few other people started writing. Enough nostalgia, but it’s fun for me to think back how each of the above Pure DWTS features became a staple on the site.

Personally, I think that Who Wore It Better? is probably my favorite. Hard to argue with pictures of incredibly beautiful people (Luckily more women share outfits than men) side by side. Although, I think my favorite response actually came in the Other category where someone said, “All of them–I have become totally addicted to this site!!”

Courtney: Umm, wow.  You guys really dig the Cheesecake! Still amazes me that some silly “I’ve got stuff to bitch about and just need a place to do it” feature that I jokingly brought up to Heidi has become such a hit! For those of you going through summer withdrawl from lack of cake, we have some great news for you 🙂 Heidi & I have decided to do a “Cheesecake Retrospective”, where we’re going to do awards for shows of seasons past – our first “victim” is going to be season 5, week 5, and we hope to have it done within the next week or so.  If you guys would like to watch those particular episodes & play along with us, you can go to hulu.com and sign up for Hulu Plus – it’s only $7.99 per month, and it lets you watch seasons 5-11 of DWTS in their entirety in high-quality, amongst hundreds of other shows.  If that’s too steep for you, you can always try to hunt down clips from that week on YouTube – the episodes in question were the ones where Sabrina & Mark did their rumba and Mark & Kym did their famous “I Dream of Jeannie” samba, and where J. Lo did “Let’s Get Loud” on the results show.  Granted, a lot of our best material doesn’t come from the dances themselves, but the banter in between – but it still might give you some context, if you aren’t able to get Hulu Plus.  Hope you guys are as excited for this as I am! 😀 Anywho, for those of you in the “other” category who voted “none!”…I’m gonna assume you mean all our features are equally as awesome, so that none of them are your favorite…otherwise, I might have to call you a “hater” 😉

Heidi: It’s funny, I clearly remember you saying something about it on Twitter and I was like, why the hell not?? We may as well bitch in public and get rocks thrown at us. 🙂 I thrive on rocks, after all. 🙂 Yes, kids, I would guess you have about a week and a half to watch Season 5, Week 5 before we get this little summer act together. I highly recommend Hulu – if you have a TiVo or some other service (like an internet ready TV) you can even watch all those seasons on your HD TV. The quality is amazing. It’s kinda funny how many of our feature either came out of Twitter conversations, or post comments. The Dancing by the Numbers came about because some Derek fan or Maks fan…someone somewhere was in terror their favorite was going home because they only had a 1 point or so lead on the next person. I was like, “yo, the bottom person is a good __ points behind Derek/Maks/whoever, they aren’t going anywhere.” The response was obvious. “How do YOU know.” LOL. I never KNOW for sure…I just make educated guesses based on the rules of the scoring for the show.

Vogue:  Wow, this is just so cool! Everytime a new Poll goes up, I’m fascinated by the results and how quicky they come. When this Poll went up, there were over 300 votes within the first two days of it. 😯 I’ve always been a “Poll” person, so this is exciting. Congradulations to the Cheesecake winning. It’s giving me many hours of laughter as well with this year’s highlights and honorable mentions going to the cracks on Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer. Mike may have went out early, but, he prevailed as being one of the most funny contestants to ever be on the show and I hope producers will give him many more leading skifs in the future. Good skifs mean good cheesecake and possibly with chocolate topping. 🙂

As for the other features, like John and several of you who mentioned it in the other catagory and comments, I love them all so much too. It was hard for me to vote. In the end, I picked Heidi’s “Dancing By The Numbers” posts because I enjoy her psychic abilities going down every week as she gathers up the numbers and facts. FASCINATING!!

Anyway, good job All! Thanks for your support and all of your votes. You make PureDWTS what it is every day!! I’m so thankful to be a part of it all!! Here is to the new upcoming “Cheesecake Retrospective: Season 5, Week 5″! Be there or be square! 😀
