DWTS Season 10: Shannon Doherty kicked off first

I’m not entirely shocked she was the first to leave since she really doesn’t have a strong fan base. However, I am so sad that Mark is gone but it’s got to be fate since he would’ve been out anyways due to his injury. I don’t know if I could stand to watch Corky with Shannon…that’d be an awkward pairing!

I don’t have anything positive to say about her dances since her technique is terrible but she tried and she made her dad proud! But here are the videos anyways 🙂 Enjoy

Shannen’s 2 Dances:
Week 1: Viennese Waltz

Week 2: Jive

What some of celebs are saying about Shannen’s early elimination:

@NiecyNash: She might have been dubbed a “bad girl” but to me she was “real”. Shannon will be missed!

@EvanLysacek: SO bummed to see @OfficialMBallas and @DohertyShannen go. Marks performance last night was so heroic and Shannen is the biggest sweetheart

@aidenturner: @DohertyShannen you were awesome !!!! missing you already, doing DWTS won’t be the same without you!!!! have a safe flight back to LA

DWTS 10 Week 2: The GOOD, The BAD and The INCREDIBLY HOT!!

And we’re back for another season 🙂  This has got to be my favorite cast yet!  ABC has finally gotten some more prominent stars…if you can call them that…instead of people we have never even heard of until you google them when the list is announced!  So let’s get started…

THE GOOD
Erin Andrews & Maks: Foxtrot
I so enjoy watching these two dance together, they have such chemistry!  You can tell they really enjoy each other and learning to dance as a couple!  As much as the package showed Erin as a tomboy (i.e. her burping), I thought she was beautiful and elegant and I applaud Maks for having two solos in there for Erin!

THE BAD
Kate Gosselin & Tony: Jive
I really have nothing nice to say about Kate.  She finds anyway possible to extend her 15 minutes of fame and I feel terrible for Tony because he is such a fantastic dancer and teacher and now he has to put up with Kate.

THE INCREDIBLY HOT
Nicole Scherzinger & Derek: Jive
HOLY SMOKES ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!  I just fell in love with Derek all over again!  He is an amazing choreographer and having Nicole not only highlights her…but highlights his talents.  I smell an Emmy nomination from him this season!

Ballroom Edition: THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE INCREDIBLY HOT!

Today’s edition is dedicated to the Viennese Waltz and the Foxtrot. I am not a ballroom girl, I much prefer the Latin dances; however, these are week one dances and I want everyone to be prepared to know what to look for 🙂

THE GOOD
Season 4: Laila Ali; Viennese Waltz
Laila was never my favorite dancer but she was a joy to watch because she always wanted to do her best! Maks really pushed her and that’s how she got to level that she got to 🙂 Laila has beautiful lines in this elegant dance and amazing foot work throughout! This is one of Mak’s best choreo pieces!

Season 7: Brooke Burke; Viennese Waltz
I can’t say enough good things about Brooke!  She was by far the most talented of the season 7 cast and Derek really took advantage of that with all of his choreo.  I loved that Derek showcased her beautiful lines as much as he could!  She really does look like a pro 🙂

Season 4: Joey Fatone; Foxtrot
Joey was a great surprise on the dance floor!  We know he has ‘boy-band’ dancing skills but never would I have imagined his ballroom/latin skills!  I was very impressed with his foot technique.  I find that the guys have more difficulty grasping the technique concepts but he always was light on his feet and very precise!  Kym gave him a great choreo piece here!

Season 7: Brooke Burke; Foxtrot
Just like her Viennese Waltz, Brooke is beautiful in the Foxtrot!  You really can’t get better than Brooke’s technique with Derek’s Choreo!

 THE BAD
Season 5: Josie Maran; Viennese Waltz
The thing with Josie is that she was on her heels the whole time!  This makes a dancer look very, very heavy in their foot work!  Another think Josie did was stop her lines at her elbow which takes away from the elegance that the dance is suppose to give off!  She looked beautiful but she didn’t dance beautifully.

Season 6: Adam Corolla; Foxtrot
I feel like Adam tried to do his best while on the show but I also feel like he thought it was a joke.  I felt like he was always more concerned with being funny than becoming a decent dancer!  His biggest down fall in this dance is walking the steps rather than dancing the steps.

THE INCREDIBLY HOT
Season 4: Foxtrot
Not my favorite pro dance to watch because of the style but it’s still very nicely done.

Look for the Salsa Edition tomorrow!  What dances are you predicting I show 🙂

Choreography with Cheryl and Maks!

Princess Heidi made an excellent point about my last post: The good, the bad, and the incredible hot choreography, stating that I was talking more about the execution than the actual choreography!  And I do agree…all the pros are phenomenal choreographers and it really is up to the celebrities to pull it off.  Therefore, when I talk about the choreography of the dances, I am referring to the technical aspect of how well the celebrities pull off the pros choreography!

THE GOOD
Season 8: Gilles Marini, Argentine Tango
Cheryl is one of my favorite choreographers on the show!  I think this dance clearly shows what an argentine tango is supposed to be 🙂  Slow then fast and always sexy!  Gilles did an amazing job playing the part and partnered Cheryl very well!

THE BAD
Season 8: Denise Richards, Samba
Maks is an amazing dancer and choreographer!  I’m also a big fan of Denise Richards so I was excited about this pairing!  However, Denise could never pick up the musicality of Maks’ choreography!  She doesn’t have any hip action and her footing was always one step behind Maks’!

THE INCREDIBLY HOT
Wade Robeson has got to be one of the greatest choreographers of all time!  I absolutely love this piece he created and we have some of SYTYCD alums!

What other dances are you guys interested in seeing!  Look for the next post on Monday or tweet me (JeanneSchrodt) with ideas 🙂

DWTS Choreography…Technical breakdown!

I love when a celebrity performs a dance better than expected and I especially love when the choreography is something to remember! However, there are those times that a celebrity just cannot pick up a dance no matter how much practice time is given to them! So, until the new season starts on September 21st I’m going to post some of the most amazing dances since DWTS started, including the emmy nominated routine, and some of the worst dances that have been engraved in my mind!

In a previous post by Courtney, she listed the top 5 worst couple pairings so I have found dances from some of couples that truly shows that these pairings were not well thought out:

3 Train Wreck dances:

1: Season 2: Kenny Mayne and Andre Hale, Cha Cha
Kenny did more standing and walking than actually dancing! He was very heavy on his feet and needs to work on his hip movement…it is a latin dance!

2: Corky Ballas and Cloris Leachman: Season 7, cha cha
Oh Cloris! I loved watching her but she never had any technique…it was like a grandma at a club. But I do give her props on having fun with everything she did!

3: Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff: Season 8, Samba
Steve tried really hard but he never got the feeling of the latin dance! He went through the moves but had no rthym. His worm was a good attempt but it wasn’t great by any means! And the ending was all over the place!

3 memorable dances!

1: Emmy nominated routine: Great Balls of Fire, Julianne and Derek Hough
technical perfection!

2: Stacy Keibler and Tony Dovolani: Season 2, Samba

3. Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke: Season 2, Paso Doble

More to come until September 21!!!!
