Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week FOUR – LIVE BLOG

Well, folks, here we are at week four and the two worst dancers are still with us.  If you could be so kind as to VOTE such that one will be eliminated sooner rather than later, I would greatly appreciate it. I think you know which one. 😉

If you have some time to kill before the show starts, you can read Courtney’s power rankings.  I didn’t do a numbers post this week – seemed like it would be…redundant. If another good dancer is in the bottom, I may do a numbers post just so I have a place to rant.  Anyway, T-minus 30 minutes to show time. Don’t be surprised if I’m a little late – got small children to play with. 🙂

How is it that it went from 91 on saturday to 60 today?? Yeah, I know, Climate change – but I feel a bit robbed of fall. Hopefully the rest of the week is a bit better.

Leah is looking great! Funny as ever.  Len is looking a little red.

“Hey look ma I made it.” Eh. Bruno cha cha-ing out in front of everyone.   Hey, did they wax the opening number to that song? Why? Two fewer stars and they’re afraid of the show running long? Read more..

Hi, I'm a news hounds from way back. Since 1999, I've worked on Madonna and Enrique Iglesias fan sites....and now PureDWTS. I have always been a big music and dancing fan, but, I'm also passionate about photography, nature, animals, and spending as much time as possible travelling and camping with my hubby and our loving and patriotic doggie, Cash. PureDWTS Season 28, Week 3: Power Rankings

Well I obviously didn’t get to watch the show in real time (had a 3-hour delay in Montrose on my way back from sis’ wedding Monday night, and did a mad dash through the Dallas airport to make my connection back to Indy), and due to 500+ emails I had from 1 week away from the office, I didn’t even get to watch the show until Wednesday evening – and then I was dealing with a freshly cortisone’d wrist on Thursday evening, so typing up the power rankings wasn’t really in the cards until the weekend.  Forgive me? 🙂 I promise the week 4 rankings will be done in a far more timely fashion…

…so I’d say week was generally an improvement over week 2, and I’d credit that to the judges (Len in particular) taking a much softer tack than they have the first two weeks of the season.  At times, judging from what the three of them were saying, it was almost as if they had read my rankings last week…right down to some of the word usage (more on that later). Anywho, it seemed like just about everyone (even Lamar!) had fun this week, which made for a much easier-to-digest show – however, I feel like the show’s still stuck in a bit of an identity crisis. Soooo, do we have a troupe or nah? ‘Cause there seemed to be quite a few extra dancers this week (more than we ever had in the troupe) getting pretty regularly utilized, and a few of them even were former troupe members (I definitely saw Morgan and Vlad in the mix…did I miss anyone else?) Oh, and the fact that these extra dancers brought about more “mucking about” in most of the routines they were in makes me question just how strictly the whole “content, content, content” edict is being emphasized and enforced. Sure, it was Movie Night, which tends to give a bit more leeway for extraneous stuff…but are we focusing on content, or focusing on production value? Do we have a troupe or not have a troupe? Show’s still a bit wishy-washy on what it wants to be, methinks…

…and then there was the whole matter of Ray’s withdrawal from the competition.  Sure, we already saw it coming before Monday night, but still…*sigh* they (controversially) saved Ray over Mary last week, only for Ray to withdraw anyway this week. No, there’s nothing technically illegal/against the rules about it, but like Tamar dipping out of season 21 the day after Alexa (who reeeeeally wanted to be there) got eliminated, it was just a bit of a d*ck move. Seems to me like Ray’s foot problems were not a recent thing, and I highly doubt they only just started giving him a lot of trouble in week 3.  Sure, one could probably argue that Ray would have probably ended up in the bottom 2 again this week (assuming he had actually danced), and probably wouldn’t have been saved over anyone except Lamar (and maybe a certain other marginal male celeb), but still…as much as I love Shad and getting to see glimpses of his progress in his dancing pursuits post-DWTS, I would have much rather seen a third week of Mary over two mediocre weeks of Ray and a week 3 dance performed by the champ from 4 seasons ago. Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week FOUR – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Can’t believe it’s week four already!!  Dang, where does the time go??  It’ll be great to see Leah Remini again – who will she smack with the microphone this time? Or her 7 paddle…Here’s what the press release says:

Vying for America’s vote, each couple will dance to a variety of hit and well-known songs including Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” Shawn Mendes’ “If I Can’t Have You,” Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose,” Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” among others.

The show will open with the couples entering the ballroom to “Hey Look Ma, I Made It,” by Panic! At the Disco. In addition, as part of ABC’s “Cast from the Past” week, where iconic TV show and film talent reunite in episodes on the network’s comedies and dramas, “Dancing” season 17 alumni Leah Remini will be a guest judge for the very first time.

I think it’s about time that he who shall not be named get quickstep. Let’s see if he can stomp his way through that one. Don’t forget to vote as much as you can for your favorite. We don’t want a repeat of last season. At least, I don’t. 🙂 Who cares if the show loses another million viewers next season? If there is a next season…

ETA: You know who is dancing first – we’ll know how many votes need to be cast to beat him. It’s unlikely he will go over Lamar, but here’s to hoping.

ETA2: Well, I could’ve sworn he said he was going first, but the lineup below is courtesy of George Pennachio, so….

Ally and Sasha – Jive
Dancing First?

Kel and Witney – Cha Cha
Dancing Second

S___ and Lindsay – Paso Doble
Dancing First or Third?

Kate and Pasha – Argentine Tango
Dancing 4th

James and Emma – Quickstep
Dancing 5th

Hannah and Alan – Paso Doble
Dancing 6th

Lamar and Peta – Viennese Waltz
Dancing 7th

Sailor and Val – Cha Cha
Dancing 8th

Pure DWTS Season 28 Week 3 – Interviews, Recaps, Scores, Photos, And Extras

What a great night again! I was sad to see Ray having to leave the competition, but, it was for the best so he could take care of his injuries before they got worse. My absolute favorite couple of the night was Sasha and Ally. I love her excitement, but, I had to laugh when grumpy Len told her not to touch him when she wanted to give him high fives. Hilarious. Anyway, below is some fun media and goodies relased after the show and from today too. Also, if you missed Miss Heidi’s Live Blog, be sure to see it here. She’s a hoot as always with her fun commentary. The comments from fans are great too. You can also discuss the night with us in private at this link which also helps to support the site. Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week THREE – LIVE BLOG

T-minus 15 minutes to the Eastern/Central time zones live broadcast of DWTS.   If you are so inclined, you can start voting when we do based on last weeks dances. Don’t tell me you don’t already have one person you want to see stay. That’s right, you’re not voting for the winner tonight, just people you want to stick around for another week. So put on your big girl and big boy pants and VOTE. 🙂 Regardless of where you live.

In case you’ve been tuned out for the last week, like I have thanks to a short vacation, there are several things you can do to catch up. First, Courtney’s Power rankings – do you agree? Vogue has been posting a ton of media, and I’ve done a little numbers retrospective AND posted that it’s very likely that Ray and Cheryl are dropping out this evening due to injury. Whew!!  Lot’s happened in a short period of time.  Oh! And here’s what we THINK the couples are dancing to and when some of them are dancing. 🙂

Here we go….Oh wait, a Direct Insurance commercial starring Tonya Harding?? WTF?

Okay, the promised movie night opening. That was it? so not a big deal. Maybe there’s more. Opening pro dance….Finally Daniella showing that she’s the best dancer on the damn show. So under utilized thus far. Choreographed by Kathryn Burns – better than Mandy Moore, IMO. Read more..

Ray Lewis to Withdraw from DWTS Season 28 Due to Injury

Many thanks to our commentors who pointed me in the direction of this Entertainment Tonight article which claims Ray and Cheryl are dropping out tonight due to an injury:

Looks like Ray Lewis and Cheryl Burke won’t be competing on Dancing With the Stars Monday night.

A source tells ET that the two plan to withdraw from the dance competition show tonight due to an injury that the former NFL star has sustained.

ET has reached out to ABC for comment.

Over the weekend, Lewis shared a lengthy post to Instagram about “finding balance between work, family and rest.”

—–

The news comes a week after Lewis and Burke found themselves in danger of elimination. After being announced as one of the two bottom couples, the dancing duo was saved by the judges, who sent Mary Wilson and pro Brandon Armstrong home.

Yeah, I’m kinda ticked they sent Mary home only for Ray to get injured. Judges screwed up on that. In regards to the questions people are asking, No, I have no idea if they will still eliminate someone. If they do, they almost certainly will pull a stupid fake out elimination scare because they can’t help themselves. They think it’s so “exciting”. Ha!
