Here it is the last couple of posts to signify the end of Season 10 of Dancing with the Stars and the long summer wait til Season 11! (Which from rumors is suppose to start on Sept 20th)
Anyway, below are the dance comparisons for Erin & Maksim with their only recycled song: a Jive to You Never Can Tell from Pulp Fiction.
This was first done by Season 4’s champion Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough on Week 3 (start on 1:38):
And here is Season 10’s Erin and Maksim as done on Week 5
My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
More tweaking happened come Season Four, including trying to create the DWTS version of “Barbie and Ken” 😉 A good portion of the formula from the previous season was carried over intact, the only real change is the time slot in an effort to avoid direct competition with FOX’s then juggernaut American Idol.
Season 4: Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Song: Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground) by The Jacksons
Placement: 3rd Place
Season 4: Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson
Song: Last Dance by Donna Summer
Placement: 2nd Place
Season 4: Apolo Anton Ohno & Julianne Hough
Song: Bust a Move by Young MC
Placement: 1st Place
Season Five brought about the most noticeable (unless you’re a dancing fiend like me and keep tabs of the comings and goings of the professional dancers) change to date: Samantha Harris went on maternity leave while Season Two’s Champ Drew Lachey stepped in.
This season also brought about TV Guide’s Most Shocking TV Moment of 2007: Sabrina Bryan being voted out mid way through the season.
Season 5: Marie Osmond & Jonathan Roberts
Song: Start Me Up by Rolling Stones
Placement: 3rd Place
Sorry there is no video available for this dance.
Season 5: Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Song: The Way I Are by Timbaland feat Keri Hilson and D.O.E.
Placement: 2nd Place
Season 5: Hélio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Song: Land of 1000 Dances by Wilson Pickett
Placement: 1st Place
Start at 1:43
My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
Another celeb bites the dust… right before the finals! So sad… but to commemorate Chad & Cheryl’s dances, we’re going to take a quick trip down memory lane for the two songs that Chad & Cheryl recycled from previous couples.
The first song is Cancion Del Mariachi by Los Lobos and Antonio Banderas both couples did this as a Paso Doble…
This was first done by Season 3’s Mario Lopez & Karina Smirnoff on Week 4:
And here is Chad and Cheryl‘s version.
Secondly there is the song If You Don’t Know Me by Now as done by Simply Red (though it was originally recorded by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes) both of the following couples did this as a Waltz.
Originally danced by Season 4’s Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough. (Start at 1:26)
And finally Chad and Cheryl‘s Waltz from Monday night:
My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
Another week, another celebrity eliminated. This time it was Niecy Nash and her professional partner Louis van Amstel that was given the ax. After going through all of their songs, it came to my attention that they only have one recycled song! La Bamba by Ritchie Valens
Here is that Samba as done on Week 5 by Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel:
This song was previously done as a Mambo by Paulina Porizkova & Alec Mazo of Season 4 on Week 2. (Start at 1:57)
My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
Hello all! Since Jake is the latest celeb to leave the show… naturally this week’s Dance Comparison will involved Jake & Chelsie.
Surprisingly, their only recycled song is Walk Like an Egyption by the Bangles. Here they danced the Quickstep on Week 3:
Which was originally danced by Laila Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy of Season 4 Week 9… also as a Quickstep.
Honestly, it isn’t a very fair comparison, since this was Laila’s 2nd Quickstep and done later in the season, while this was Jake’s first Quickstep and done earlier in the season. Regardless this is comparing choreography to recycled songs… 😀 So what do you think?
My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
