Wow, what a day for Emmy nominations for Dancing With The Stars. A huge congratulations to all the crew, Derek Hough, and Artem Chigvintsev for being nominated. I’m not aware of any other recently-vacated gigs that Tom might be referring to, so I have to assume he’s referring to DWTS. If so, I could see him making season 30 a helluva lot more bearable.  But I have to wonder: does this mean Tyra’s out…? Or that he has to *cringe* cohost WITH her? The former is preferable to the latter, but the latter is preferable to no Tom at all…so I’m excited at this development.  Thoughts???

Will Dancing With The Stars Season 30 Be An All-Star Season???

As you might have read, Dancing With The Stars has been renewed for Season 30 this Fall. However, could the new upcoming season be an “All-Stars” Season as well? Tyra Banks and Cheryl Burke have mentioned it to TV Insider here and here. Entertainment Tonight also entertained the idea with Sharna Burgess. Check out this reaction and who Sharna would like to dance with if the idea came true….

“I would say, ‘Heck, yes, let’s do an All-Star season!'” she exclaimed, telling ET she’d like to compete with her season 23 partner, James Hinchcliffe, again. “James Hinchcliffe, I’m calling you. You’re coming back! We need to win this thing.”

“I have no idea. I have not heard that it is an All-Star [season], but wouldn’t that amazing for season 30?” she added.

What do you think? Be sure to read Entertainment Tonight for more thoughts on the upcoming season and even the thought of Sharna’s new boyfriend, Brian Austin Green, dancing as well (if it’s a regular season). Did the “Dancing with the Stars” Judges “Hate” these Former Professional Dancers???

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this article that I saw today.  Lance Bass and Vivica Fox claim that the judges hated their pro partners.  Here’s a quote from the article in Entertainment Weekly – click the link to read the whole thing.

On Thursday night’s series premiere of E!’s Overserved With Lisa Vanderpump, the conversation between Fox, Bass, and Lisa Vanderpump turned to something they all have in common: the competitive dancing series.

“I made it to week four and I was a sore loser,” said Fox, adding that her partner Nick Kosovich was one of the “main reasons why we got kicked off.”

“You got to play the game,” she told the others. “My partner made too many requests.”

Bass went on to say that even after he and Schwimmer made it to the finale, the reception wasn’t great.

“We go have drinks at one of the judges’ houses and they had a little too much to drink and one of those judges was like, ‘You know we can’t stand your partner?'” said Bass. “I was like, ‘Why am I working my ass off then?'”

My thoughts? Well, I think it’s a possibility. Neither of these pros lasted a super long time on the series. But I’m not sure I agree with the reasoning that they “asked for too much” – Derek Hough, for one, asked for everything, as did Cheryl Burke. Both of those two, and possibly other pros from back in the say controlled everything related to a performance including the music, the costumes, the themes…..everything. There is video of Cheryl nixing a song for her partner and Derek has described just how much control he used to have over what his partner did. A lot. Of course there was still a ton of producers “producing” and manipulating the show. Perhaps it was a matter of HOW Derek and Cheryl and others “asked” for things?? But it’s still odd, because Cheryl seemed a bit rude in the clip, to me. I dunno. I think it’s very possible that those two pros were not well liked, but I’m not sure that the reason for the dislike is necessarily correct.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 7’s Cloris Leachman Passes Away at 94

So today we lost another former contestant – season 7’s boisterous, sassy senior, Cloris Leachman. Per ABC News:

Cloris Leachman, the versatile Oscar-winning actress whose career on stage, television and film spanned more than seven decades, has died at age 94.

“It’s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time,” her longtime manager, Juliet Green, said in a statement. “There was no one like Cloris. With a single look she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh ’till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic.”

“She loved her children and her grandchildren ferociously. A lifelong vegetarian, she was a passionate advocate for animal rights,” Green added. “The family requests that any donations in her name be made to PETA or Last Chance for Animals.”

Green said Leachman died of natural causes in Encinitas, California.

To my knowledge, at 82 years old, she was the oldest contestant we ever had, and one of the funniest – I’ll never forget her hiking her leg up on the judges’ table during a critique to try and make eyes at Len 🙂 I wish I could find a video of her in the season 7 hip-hop group dance, which treated us to Cloris with gold chains and a grill, mean-muggin’ in the background with Corky as the rest of the cast danced, but these dances will have to do – god, I had forgotten how entertaining she was, even when she wasn’t really sure of her choreography:

Godspeed, Cloris. If there’s a season 30, I had better see her name in a commemorative star on the dance floor next to Florence & Valerie’s 🙂 Kinda sad that Corky’s only 2 former partners on the show have died…we’ve now lost #TeamFlorky and #TeamClorky 🙁

DWTS Season 30 Cast Rumors – Hilaria Baldwin to Dance, Tyra Banks Excited On The Idea?

OK Magazine is reporting Hilaria Baldwin is joining Dancing With The Stars next season. In case you don’t know, Hilaria has been all over the news recently when claims surfaced about the authenticity of her Spanish heritage. I guess Tyra is really excited on the idea (-_-)? Don’t expect Hilaria Baldwin to disappear into the shadows just because claims surfaced about the authenticity of her Spanish heritage. The troubled wife of Alec Baldwin is looking to extend her 15 minutes of fame by joining Dancing With the Stars, OK! has learned.

“Hilaria has always wanted to be famous. She is one of the most thirsty wives of a celebrity in the business. At red carpet events she seeks out the press and isn’t shy about posting half-naked pictures on social media to get attention. Now, she wants to stay in the spotlight and look at opportunities, including Dancing with the Stars,” a source exclusively tells OK!. “Within 24 hours of the embarrassing accusations, Hilaria was on the phone with The New York Times. Don’t expect this to end any time soon. She is shameless. Hilaria has big plans in 2021.”

“This is TV gold for Tyra Banks and Dancing With the Stars. Tyra has made the show exciting again and isn’t afraid to cast controversial people on it,” an ABC insider reveals. “Hilaria is exactly the sort of star Tyra wants. They will let her wear Spanish costumes when she performs and even cook her paella backstage.”
