Aly Raisman And Mark Ballas Have a Surprise Planned For Viennese Waltz On Dancing With The Stars

Aly Raisman tells TV Guide that she and partner Mark Ballas have a surprise in store for everyone on Dancing With The Stars tonight when they dance their Viennese waltz and it won’t be cheesy. They hope everyone is going to like it. She also talks of what her dress will be like which sounds really pretty. Here is more….

How’s the Viennese waltz going?
Aly Raisman: It’s good. We have a shorter time to learn the dance now and I came home [to Boston] this week for my sister’s Bat Mitzvah … but it’s going well. I’m really excited about it. I’m glad it’s a slower dance and not the quickstep or jive or something fast with lots of steps. I love the song we have and the story we’re telling.

What’s the story? Is Mark asking you to prom?
Raisman: He’s not. [Laughs] It’s a really cool surprise. I can’t really say more than that. It’s not a clichéd, cheesy thing at all. I like it a lot. I hope people understand it and like it. It’s mature, so hopefully I’ll be able to pull it off.

What’s your prom dress?
Raisman: It’s a lilac purple and goes down to the floor. It’s chiffon and really elegant, but it’s kind of like a prom dress too.

How does that compare to your real prom dress?
Raisman: My prom dress was chocolate brown with a not-very-low V-neck. It had cap sleeves with beading and crystals on them.

More at TV Guide including Aly’s thoughts on Dorothy Hamill, her challenges, and the competition.

DWTS16 Gleb Savchenko And Lisa Vanderpump Under Lock-And Key Before Showtime Week 3

Lisa Vanderpump was a guest on KITV. She answered questions about Jiggy, the Real Housewives, and Dancing With The Stars. About dancing, she talked about being at risk last week of elimination. She encourages all of her fans to vote this coming week if they want to see her stay. She was sad about seeing Dorothy leave last week, but, is so glad to know her and all of the cast. She’s met amazing new friends. Lots more at the link!!

There is also a fun article at People.com on she and Gleb. Here is a little take….

…the 29-year old newbie already has a slew of tactics to keep himself from being swallowed up by his dance partner.

“I actually took my shirt off on the very first rehearsal to be like, ‘Okay girl, we gotta work it! If you want to be in this rehearsal, maybe I can drag you in by taking off my shirt,’ ” Savchenko tells PEOPLE of working with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star (and PEOPLE.com blogger). “And she was like, ‘I like that! Okay, let’s go.’ ”

With results like that the fresh-faced pro decided to stick with what was working – mostly.

“Every day I still do that,” Savchenko says while attending the Los Angeles premiere of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. “I promise her but I actually don’t take off my shirt, and as soon as she’s in there I lock the door and say, ‘You’re going to stay here and we’re going to concentrate on hard work.’ ”

Once he had Vanderpump under lock-and-key, Savchenko thought using laughter might soften the physical toll of the practices.

“She’s got a great sense of humor, and everything that I tell her she makes a joke out of it,” the Moscow native says. “We laugh all of the time, like probably the entire first week, and that’s probably why we had very bad scores, because we laugh throughout the whole rehearsal.”

Much luck to these two Monday night!

DWTS16 Week 3 Cheryl Burke And D.L. Hughley To Dance A Salsa To James Brown “Sex Machine”, Wardrobe Hints

CherylD.L.

The Tom Joyner Morning Show in Charlotte, North Carolina interviewed D.L. Hughley about his up coming schedule of comic shows. They also talk of Dancing With The Stars. Let’s just say, D.L. was ready and packed to go home last week, but, he’s been working hard as he wants people to know that dancing matters to him. They’ve been rehearsing every day for 5 hours. He and Cheryl will be dancing a Salsa to James Brown’s “Sex Machine” Sex Machine - Sex Machine - Greatest Soul Lovesongs on Monday night. He says his wardrobe will remind us of “James Brown”. Fun interview. I especially love the part where he laughs when they say he might still be dancing on May 21st when he has a scheduled gig. You can listen to more here. I admit…I am starting to like D.L. more and more and this new routine has the makings of being a hoot?

Pic above courtesy of D.L.’s twitter posted March 22nd. ADDING: And here is a picture from today from Cheryl’s twitter….

UPDATE: To read Cheryl’s new blog, visit People.com. She’s sets us up for tonight’s Samba and more in this take…

It’s pretty amazing to think how many people support us. They’ve seen us struggle and get frustrated a little bit. They saw how D.L. felt embarrassed on national television and then he redeemed himself. That’s what this show is all about. I think in the beginning, D.L. didn’t know what he was getting into and now he’s really into it.

I feel better because I know now that he knows what to expect. He’s going to try his best. He’s not going to be the best dancer. We know that. But as long as he gives me his best and tried hard, that’s all that matters. We now know how to communicate with each other. I think on top of that, he knows he needs to work hard in order to stay in the competition.

Tonight is our prom-themed dance. We’re doing a salsa and it’s a song that everyone will know. D.L. was a pimp back in his day. People would pay him to go to prom. He’s been to more than five of them. If a girl couldn’t find a date, he would be that guy they would call.

This week, we really just want to play it up like we’re having a great time. I want him to just have fun out there. The choreography is fun. I want him to play this character. We want to bring out his personality.

Mark Ballas And Aly Raisman To Dance To An Ed Sheeran Song For DWTS Prom Week

In a new blog in USA Today, pro Mark Ballas writes about last Monday night’s dance with partner Aly Raisman. It was so rewarding to hear Carrie Ann tell them they had the best Quickstep of the night. He also talks about the days that followed this week with travelling to Boston, rehearsals, and how Aly is handling the Viennese Waltz very well so far. More below and be sure you read the link as he has some kind words for Derek Hough and Kellie Pickler as well.

This week we are taking on the Viennese waltz. I love this dance and although it’s Aly’s first romantic dance, she is handling it very well. She’s not shy at all about getting in my face and taking on the character!

We had to fly to Boston this week for her little sister’s bat mitzvah and the first day of training there was tough for me. I had a mental block and couldn’t really think of any choreography because the room was too small and had no mirrors. But the next day, we changed rehearsal spaces — to a room painted lime green (my favorite color!). The new place gave off better vibes and I knocked out the routine in two hours.

The theme this week is “Prom Week” which makes it fun, considering I grew up in England and never got to go to prom. So, it’s kind of cool I get to make up for it here with Aly. Another great thing about our dance this week is the song. We are dancing to an Ed Sheeran song and he is one of my favorite artists at the moment. It’s really inspiring to be able choreograph to a song you love and can relate to.

Gleb Savchenko And Lisa Vanderpump Laughing And Having Fun On Dancing With The Stars

The Huffington Post has a cute interview up with Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko. They talk all about their partnership and chemistry on Dancing With The Stars. I love how they both reacted to this question. Hilarious!

For both of you, which dance are you most looking forward to?
Gleb: “I’m looking forward to all of the sexy dances.”
Lisa: “Oh for God’s sake. Here we go! Don’t even get him started!”
Gleb: [Laughs.]
Lisa: “The sexier it is, the happier he is.”
Gleb: “Exactly.”
Lisa: “And the more I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness.'”

This part is good too where Gleb talks about being a new Pro and what are their most challenging parts about dancing together.

Gleb, you’re the new male pro. Was it nice to be new together?
Gleb: “Well, I think for Lisa it was a double stress. I’m a new guy on the show and she’s never seen me performing and dancing, my choreography or anything. For me, I think of course it has been stressful, but also exciting and I have a lot of pressure. I have to work double hard to prove to everybody else that I’m actually worth it, you know what I mean? I don’t have a fanbase. When I started the show, I had like 243 followers on Twitter. Now I went up to 6,000, but it’s not enough. Other people like Cheryl [Burke], Karina [Smirnoff] and Val [Chmerkovskiy], they have like 300,000, 400,000 followers. For us, it’s really hard. I think it’s one of the reasons. People don’t really vote because they don’t really know me. That’s why we were in the bottom as well.

What’s been the most challenging part so far?
Lisa: “For me, I think obviously, the time constraint. I run my businesses and do my other show, ‘Vanderpump Rules’ and a lot of other things going on. I have another restaurant in development, so yeah, that’s hard for me. Yesterday, my day started at 3 a.m. and tomorrow it will start at 3:30 a.m. That’s hard for me, especially because I have nighttime businesses.”

Gleb: “The most challenging I think is … ”

Lisa: “Dancing with an idiot?”

Gleb: [Laughs.] “We have a good time. We laugh all the time. We only had like two weeks preparation before we started, right? So we’re just having a good time and starting to get to know each other. Lisa has a great sense of humor, but at the same time, it’s hard work. You have to put the choreography together and perform at the end of the day. You have to think about that as well. Sometimes I have to be very strict with her — that’s the most challenging part because we laugh and then I have to be very strict. That doesn’t go together. That’s the most difficult part. Plus, as Lisa already said, she’s very busy with work — we don’t have as much time as the other dancers and celebrities have. We have like maybe three to four hours a day in which we can really concentrate and work hard. We don’t have time to sit down and have a cup of tea or something like that. That’s the part of the process that’s the most challenging, I think.”

More at the Huffington Post. Also, HitFix has a fun interview with them too. Below is a little take. You know where to go for more. Lisa has such a wicked sense of humor!!

What hasn’t worked, at least initially, for Vanderpump was the physical closeness ballroom dance required. “That is kind of strange at first,” Vanderpump admitted.

“She’s getting used to it, though. She comes to rehearsal now and says I want to do a little bit of that this week,” Savchenko said.

“He’s actually laying on top of me right now,” Vanderpump joked. “Get off of me, come on now!”

But Savchenko explained that, even though his emphasis is on Latin dance, it’s not the only style that requires dancers to get up close and personal. “In all of ballroom dancing, you have to have close contact to create that proper shape. In the Viennese waltz, what we’re doing this week, we don’t have that much contact, which I actually really miss.”

“I’m just trying to get through this,” Vanderpump countered. “I mean, my God, the first week it was, connect your groins!”

I hope these two do well next week. I’ve loved their dancing and Lisa is better than she realizes!

Demi Lovato To Perform On Dancing With The Stars Next Week, Returning To XFactor

According to MTV, singer Demi Lovato will be performing on Dancing With The Stars next week. For those interested, she’s also returning to the X Factor next season (yikes, I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t be returning. I like her music, but, not her as a judge). Below is more…

Demi Lovato might be giving your heart a break, but she has no plans to take a break from “The X Factor.” On Thursday (March 28), Simon Cowell confirmed that the singer will be back for the third season of the Fox reality show, marking her second season on the series.

“I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year. She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying — I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists,” he said in a statement, Deadline reports. “I’m especially pleased she’s back even during her world tour!”

In addition to her world tour and returning to the show, Lovato is slated to release a new studio album later this year, already filming a music video for lead single”Heart Attack.” She will appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Dancing With the Stars” next week (Monday and Tuesday, respectively) to perform the tune on TV for the first time.

Dancing with the Stars 2009 Music – Etta James, Demi Lovato and Le Reve

In quite a surprise, David and Kym were sent home on Dancing with the Stars. Seems like Steve-O (and probably Lacey) along with Ty (and probably Chelsie) have large fan bases. Interesting that the two professional dancers that bucked the score were on So You Think You Can Dance and brought over many fans from that show.

On a different note, take a look at the special guest music from the Dancing with the Stars results show.

Etta James sang the song “At Last” Etta James - At Last! (Remastered) - At Last while Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy performed.

Demi Lovato sang the song “La La Land” Demi Lovato - Don't Forget - La la Land while special guests Benji Schwimmer (So You Think You Can Dance winner) and Torri Smith performed.

They also had a Macy’s Stars of Dance performance by Le Rêve.
