Milburn, NJ Ballroom With A Twist Review From Dmitry Dream Team

Dmitry Dream Team has sent us a review of “Ballroom With A Twist” from the Milburn, NJ show this past weekend. This is so fun and be sure to see her facebook page for some fun photos!!

What an amazing dancing weekend Maria and I had in Millburn, NJ! We stayed at the Hilton in Short Hills, New Jersey. It was the closest hotel to the theatre and the “official” hotel of the theatre as well according to their website. I figured the dancers would be staying there. Our room was on the sixth floor which was part of the “Executive” level. Again I assumed the dancers were staying either on the same floor as us or on the seventh floor. We happened to be at the right place at the right time. I was looking out the window and saw a tall guy with dark hair, black track pants, and a blue shirt and a blonde haired girl sitting on the curb. I’ll never forget saying to Maria “Um, can you come over here please. I see Dmitry and Chelsie.” She came over and when he turned we could not believe our eyes. It was him and he was looking at his phone in his left hand and dancing.

We were able to see Dmitry before the show to give him a few gifts and get pictures and went to the meet and greet after. We were able to get autographs and photos with the celebrity dancers.

The Sunday matinee was just as incredible as the Saturday night show. For both performances Dmitry had us up on stage dancing with him during the audience participation. There was another meet and greet after that we went to and got a few more pictures. Love this photo! I’m laughing because Maria asked Dmitry if she could grab his ass and he said “only for you Maria” with a laugh. The looks on our faces are priceless!

It was definitely a weekend we will remember! For all of the photos please check out my shared public album BALLROOM WITH A TWIST – MILLBURN, NJ MAY 10-11, 2014.

Anna Trebunskaya And Gleb Savchenko Talk About Ballroom With A Twist, See Them Dance

What a cool new “Ballroom With A Twist” interview with Anna Trebunskaya And Gleb Savchenko with NJ.com.. The two dancers along with Chelsie Hightower, Dmitry Chaplin, Oksana Dymetrenko, etc will be performing this weekend at Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, NJ. Be sure to see the show if you can. Read more below to see why….

“I think dancing is an artistic form of the Olympics,” Trebunskaya says. “It’s probably one of the most athletic sports. It’s graceful.”

Even the audience will be a part of the show.

Glen Savchenko competed on season 16 of “Dancing With the Stars,” alongside “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump.

“This is a live show,” Trebunskaya says. “Audience participation is a big factor. Be prepared to get up and shake your booty.”

“Dancing is a piece of art and by doing it, we dancers do a piece of work,” Savchenko adds. “When it all connects, it tells a story.”

Guests of the show can expect to be taken on a journey, he says.

“That’s the amazing part of dancing — you make people feel.”

More at NJ.com.. For tickets, scheduling, and more info on Ballroom With A Twist, see this link. It’s an outstanding, fun night of entertainment. Be sure to see it.

Dancing with the Stars Season 18 – PRO WATCH!!

It’s that time of year once again, boys and girls – time for Pro Watch. 🙂  It will be very interesting to see what happens this year, after they let go of the band. That was a huge cost savings to them. The question is: are they looking to save even more money (say goodbye to Derek and possibly Cheryl) or have they saved so much that they can afford the popular, long term pros that have kept people coming back to this show season after season? I personally think that they will do what they can to hold on to Derek – he’s an Emmy winner and that’s very helpful to the show’s cache. I think they will also do their best to hold on to Cheryl, Karina and Mark. I’m GUESSING that Val and Tristan are still locked into contracts that are beneficial to ABC so they aren’t in question as long as they find a partner for them.  As always, I could be wrong. 🙂 Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess Gears Us Up For Ballroom With A Twist In Cheyenne, Wyoming

Wyoming News interviewed Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess about the “Ballroom With A twist” show coming up in Cheyenne, Wyoming February 1st. She talks of why the show is a “beautiful experience” for how unique it is for fans and herself. Below is more. Be sure to read more at the link. Also, if you haven’t read our new interview with Gleb Savchenko, be sure you do as he talks a little on the show as well other fun things in getting to know him. Here’s to Saturday Night, Gleb and Sharna!!

“It is a beautiful experience to perform one night to a live audience. Once that show and that moment are over, it’s gone, and that makes it very special,” she said.

Burgess will be joined by fellow “Dancing With The Stars” coach Gleb Savchenko and an all-star cast that includes performers from “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” It all comes together for a night of different styles and music that Burgess said gets everyone out of their seat.

“The show is so unique. It brings competitive pros from all over and mixes them up. We perform everything from hip-hop to waltzes, samba and contemporary,” she said.

Burgess is originally from Australia but was working on Broadway before being discovered by “Dancing With the Stars.” An accomplished choreographer, she appeared on the series twice, first with comedian Andy Dick and later with former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson.

Burgess will be performing two solo numbers as well as a few with a group during the show.

She said she was looking forward to dancing with other professionals who loved the craft as much as she does. She said it was a whole new set of challenges and excitement from her role on TV.

“We did judge dance numbers, which were great, and I love teaching, whether that is celebrities or anyone else,” she said. “But I know the cast on this tour really well, and I can’t wait to get out there with them.”

In addition to the professional dance numbers, Burgess said there would be audience participation sections as well.

“We go around and talk with people and call them up on stage, but even if that doesn’t happen for you, I bet you are going to be dancing in your seat along with us,” she said.

DWTS Emma Slater And Tristan MacManus Dish On Ballroom With A Twist In New Interview

The Reporter Herald interview Dancing With The Stars Tristan MacManus and Emma Slater about their upcoming shows for “Ballroom With A Twist. Below are a couple of up-close and personal takes which describe the show. Too fun….

Visiting by email from a cruise ship, where they are performing, Slater and MacManus shared their thoughts about the upcoming show.

“This is not my first time with ‘Ballroom with a Twist’,” said Slater. “Both Tristan and I have been a part of this fabulous show in the past. It’s wonderful fun, and I love being involved.”

“The talent in the show is mind-blowing, whether it’s the singing or the dancing,” said MacManus. “We have both singers and dancers who rotate in and out for different shows. The energy is always high, and the experience is always different for us, as well as the audience, which is great for keeping the show and the numbers fresh.”

“Ballroom with a Twist” promises something for every lover of dance from jazz to hip-hop, contemporary to ballroom, along with powerful vocals. “My favorite number from the show is called ‘Gravity,'” shared Slater. “Three of the amazing ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ finalists dance together in a beautiful contemporary piece. It’s unbelievable, they are so talented.

“There is also a number sung beautifully by our male vocalist, while a very talented young chap spins on his head! Crazy.”

During the evening, a few audience members will be asked to join the dancers onstage. Those in the audience can dance along as well. “It’s a great interaction between the audience and the cast,” shared Slater.

Both MacManus and Slater come from across the Atlantic. MacManus began dancing in his hometown of Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland, while Slater is from Tamworth in England. “I do absolutely love being here in the U.S. — the weather and opportunity among other things,” said Slater.

She hopes those watching “Ballroom with a Twist” will “enjoy watching dynamic dance live and up close (not possible on TV) and really be inspired to dance at home.”

“People want to come to a show, see something they haven’t before, feel involved and then go home smiling,” said MacManus. “There is nothing better then the next few days after seeing something and still thinking about it and smiling, and for me, that’s what ‘Ballroom with a Twist’ does.”
