DWTS Season 16, Week 3 – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, okay, that wasn’t as horrendously awful as I expected it to be, although still pretty bad. I thought at first the judges were being pretty darn lenient, but then I realized they were trying very hard to make sure that either DL or Wynonna went home. Everyone else pretty much got a free pass for the week.  Actually thought Zendaya struggled a LOT with the Waltz, but then Kellie had a bit of trouble with her Jive as well – although it did deserve the top spot on the leader board. Jacoby, on the other hand, did a great job with his rumba – he should probably be tied with Kellie.

Then again, it doesn’t probably matter with Wynonna only having a 15. It’s also not going to matter who the Prom Queen is, unless it ends up being Wynonna.

So, let’s look at our scores and percentages:

DBTN week 3

Well, this time, DL and Wynonna are the bottom of the leader board and this is some new territory for us. Last week, DL was saved and Lisa and Victor were in the bottom two. The judges did some ranking and may have saved those two – but then again, maybe not.   I would bet that DL and Wynonna have fanbases that beat Victor and Lisa. Read more..

Derek Hough Blogs After Week 2 of DWTS Season 16

This blog is jam packed with information. Love it!  He talks about Jazz versus the Jive, Dorothy, injuries and why he’s never been to prom.  A few excerpts from TV Guide:

We have the jive next. It’s a hard dance. It’s a lot different from the jazz, which definitely played to Kellie’s strengths. The jive is so fast and the technique in it is so difficult. There are a lot of different elements. This is the first week where the pressure’s really on since we only have five days to do a routine going forward. It’s tough because the jive is so fast, so that means more steps. There’s more choreography within that minute and 15 seconds. You could do six steps in one second in the jive, whereas in the rumba, you probably do, like, two steps in five seconds.

The way I choreograph is I choreograph from the spot. I don’t really come in with a routine ready to go and teach it to my partners. I like to create with my partner. I like to play with ideas. I could have an idea that I think it’s great, but I could try it with them and they might not feel great doing it, so I like to experiment with my partner to try to maximize getting the best out of them.

It’s also Prom Week. I never went to prom and Kellie never went to prom either, so I’m trying to figure out a way to ask her to prom. I’m nervous! I didn’t go to prom because I grew up in England and they don’t really have proms there. I was also traveling and competing, so I didn’t have a normal social life. I didn’t go to school parties and dances. I never felt like I missed out on that type of stuff. Now I get my first prom with Kellie!

We were all sad to see Dorothy withdraw. We had no idea she was going to. We learned with the audience. We were completely in the dark about it. I think it was a very mature and smart thing to do on her part. It’s important to look after your health. That’s it. Nothing is worth sacrificing your health. I love what the Dalai Lama said — it doesn’t really go into her situation — but he said, “Mankind surprised me about humanity. Because we sacrifice our health for money and we sacrifice our money to gain back our health.” You always have to put your wellbeing first. But it was obviously very sad that she pulled out. You never want anyone to pull out. I think only, like, four people have pulled out during the show from injury. We have a lot of injuries on the show of varying degrees and I think we all are used to seeing people push through on the show. Dorothy’s an athlete and I think if she could, she would’ve pushed through, but it was too serious.

Jennifer Grey and I were very close to withdrawing many, many times. I had a doctor literally in a rehearsal saying to me, “You can do that move. You can’t do that move. If you do that move and you drop her, she can be paralyzed.” I was like, “OK…” No pressure, right? Actually on the very last show, she blew a disc in her lower back and she had surgery the next day after we won. We won a trophy and she’s in the hospital getting surgery less than a day later. It was crazy, but we were so close to pulling out that season.

Brooke Burke Charvet Interviewed About Her Thyroid Cancer And Dancing With The Stars (Video)

Brooke Burke Charvet was a guest on Access Hollywood today! She talked all about her thyroid cancer and how she was able to get better. More than ever, it’s important she takes care of herself and she encourages everyone else to do the same. She also talks a little on Dancing With The Stars. There are mentions on Kellie Pickler, D.L. Hughley, and Zendaya.

DWTS Behind The Scenes With Andy Dick: “There must be chaos in the mind to be a great dancer”

Above are more fun videos from Rumorfix and Andy Dick with some shots behind the scenes from Monday. Derek and Jacoby are in the first video. He interviews Wynonna in the second video.

In other things with Andy, he talks with XFinity about his “Cinderella” story, but, I love this part about Sharna and why she’s the perfect partner for him. He also talks of this week’s Queen of Hearts/MadHatter theme….

You did such a bizarre and wonderful routine tonight. Can you describe it?
AD: Sharna’s the one who came up with Queen of Hearts/Mad Hatter [theme]. I love it! So I was very excited that I was going to get to weird it out [and] act a little and it’s jazz so we were allowed to be a little more kooky weird and creepy and strange too. She let me do it. She was the one that came up with [the move with] my head between her legs. It was a blast.

How do you two relate as partners?
AD: I got a text from somebody from [philosopher] Friedrich Nietzsche. I’m paraphrasing, but I’m not kidding: “There must be chaos in the mind to be a great dancer.” And we both have that. We are so all over the place and I’m going to put words in her mouth. I think what she likes about dancing is all that stuff that all that stuff that’s going on in her brain. She can harness that and it comes out in the dance and you can see the energy. I can feel it! I’m right next to her. It’s sometimes frightening but it’s amazing.

And it’s amazing for us too, Andy and Sharna!! KEEP IT UP!! More at XFinity!!

DWTS16 Week 2 Media After The Elimination, More Dances Revealed For Week 3!

Last night after the results show, some of the our couples from Dancing With The Stars were interviewed by George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet. He asks them straight up about week 3….

First up, Andy and Sharna!! They have the Cha Cha for week 3!! Andy said Sharna introduced him to it a little in the beginning and he had a hard time with it. Sharna says they have a difficult week and more hours of practicing ahead, but, (and here’s the fun part and key for him in my opinion), she’s got another fun character for Andy to play. It won’t be your average prom story. It will be about a boy’s fantasy of the ideal woman. Andy also talks of the bond he formed with Dorothy and was sad to see her go.

Gleb and Lisa!! George didn’t get much out of these two. Lisa talks of how hard it was to see Dorothy leave last night. Gleb mentions they may need more props and special effects and that we will have to wait until next week to see what they do.

D.L. hopes to improve again for Week 3 and to have more fun! His schedule has been exhausting, but, he is ready and excited to still dance and thankful to still be on the show. He has nothing, but, good things to say about Dorothy. He was proud of her.

Sean and Peta have a Cha Cha next week! Peta says they will be bringing the crazy and fun and refined steps. Sean’s schedule is tight, but, they work around it.

Victor and Lindsay hope to step it up and work even harder! George reminds them they can still do it like Kelly Monaco did. Lindsay puts her foot down and won’t let Victor be negative. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 16 Dorothy Hamill And Tristan MacManus Early Departure Media

I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house last night on Dancing With The Stars when Dorothy Hamill announced she had to step out because of her injury!! She mentioned that maybe she could come back in the future? I wonder if TPTB could explore this possibility? What a beautiful lady and soul. Just like in the 70’s on the ice rink, Dorothy swooped into the dance floor to touch our hearts and, what’s more, with class, elegance, grace, and charm. Thank you Dorothy Hamill!! You will always be an Ice Princess as well as a Dance Princess too in so many of our eyes!!! Below is she and Tristan with On The Red Carpet, Access Hollywood, and ET Online after the show last night talking more on her departure. The cast has a few things to say about Dorothy and Tristan in the ET Online video as well. Stay tuned. If there is more on these two (Good Morning America?), we will be sure to add it to this post…

UPDATE: Dorothy and Tristan weren’t on GMA this morning, but, Victor, Lindsay, Gleb, and Lisa weigh in on her departure. You can watch it HERE.

DWTS Season 16, Week 2 – Who Got the Boot? (SPOILERS)

Oh man, that was SO sad. First time I cried at an elimination. Dang.

For those of you who haven’t seen the show but are here getting spoiled, Dorothy removed herself at the last minute on the advice of doctors. She could do permanent damage to herself if she kept on.

The final two came down to Lisa and Victor – we did NOT find out who the eliminee was going to be. Interesting that they kept Andy down there till the last minute – me thinks they want to keep him around. Also interesting were the ones called safe first – Ingo, Sean and Wynonna.

How did we do??

Heidi: Said D.L. was going home with Lisa as an alternate and Victor as a second alternate.

Courtney: She had D.L. with Victor second to last and Lisa third to last.

Vogue-y: Also had D.L. with Wynonna next and Dorothy  third.

Winner: No idea. Either me or Courtney, although Vogue was in there with Dorothy.

Sabrina Bryan and the Gang at GMA Discuss DWTS 16, Week 2 (Video)

Many thanks to Butterflywhirl for pointing out the video was embedded in Louis’ blog. In all fairness…I swear it wasn’t there when I did the post on Louis. 🙂   Nice discussion on the show last night:

DWTS Season 16, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, I have to say – I could rant on and on about the break in hold and the lift that Mark did, but why bother? They also missed a couple steps in that part that was in the front left corner by the judges – well, Aly did and it was kinda hidden behind Mark.  This is one of the crappy things about this show – it ain’t fair. Don’t get me wrong – if Mark wants to break the rules in the name of good choreo I say go for it, dude, show us what ya got (just don’t bitch if they ever do call you on it). I didn’t mind and the dance was pretty good, although sans “wow” factor. But dang, the judges don’t call it and THEN have the nerve to caution Gleb???  Tony and Wynonna ride in on scooters (I want one) and Len doesn’t say a word??  What the hell… anyway, you get my drift.  It’s enough to make me wonder if she isn’t getting the votes. I’m wanting to see a lot more out of the box choreography, with cool staging – but is it too much to ask that the judges ATTEMPT to be even handed??

I sure do wish that I didn’t see Jacoby as a sure thing at this point. Don’t get me wrong – I find him very amusing. Loved the whole bit with the good posture for Len followed by slouching. But he can’t touch Zendaya or Kellie…or even Aly…in terms of dancing. Hell, I like ANDY better than him. I think Andy knocked it out of the park last night. Ah well, what ya gonna do?? Maybe voters will surprise me and give it to Zendaya or Kellie – either one is more deserving. And Aly certainly has room to grow. Then again, so does Jacoby and he is kinda funny. 🙂  We have a ways to go before we worry about the finale, in any case.

But enough about that, how do the scores look?? Read more..
