DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 7: What Do You Think?

Our apologies for being a little late with the Las Vegas Odds! For some reason, all the betting sites have been later than the norm posting them this week. Is this a sign the odds makers are overly undecided? šŸ˜Æ I don’t know. None the less, below are Sports Bovada’s odds leading up to Week 7 of Dancing With The Stars. Note how the placements are the same, but, the numbers are tighter in some cases and/or the same or higher in others.

Shawn Johnson 10/11
Emmitt Smith 13/4
Gilles Marini 7/2
Apolo Anton Ono 9/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 40/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 5 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 1/1
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 9/2
Apolo Anton Ono 6/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 33/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 75/1

In my opinion, Apolo should be in second place (or even first?) and Emmitt in third. I don’t think Gilles is going to make the top three like many think. I mean…is his fan base really that big? My Dad (an avid fan to the show for about 4 or 5 years now) keeps asking me who Gilles, Melissa, and Kelly are and that to me is a little telling being he kept asking me who Sabrina was too and the next thing we know and regardless of scores and ability to dance, Sabrina is a goner. I also still think it’s a mistake to underestimate Kirstie in this competition. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her make it to atleast 4th place….that is, if she can still make some strong showings on the dance floor as she has the last couple of weeks.

Lets get Miss Heidi and Court’s thoughts on the new odds and be sure to let us know what you think too in comments….

Heidi: I just don’t get the Emmitt thing. I mean, he’s faded into the woodwork on this this show. Ā Are they basing their odds on how well football players have done in the past?? I agree with Vogue – I really think Apolo should be up at the top with Shawn. Of course, it’s my bias talking when I say I really want Gilles to be the next “shocking” elimination. šŸ™‚ As for Shawn – she’s certainly capable of winning it, but I think it depends on if Len keeps it up with his games. Ā He did it with Nicole and it was very obvious as well – but I don’t think that Shawn can afford that sort of game playing in an all star season AND when they throw so many dances into one elimination, reducing the spread significantly. Ā This week is week 7. If history holds true, it’s week 8 when Len finally gives it up. I think he should give it up a bit earlier than normal, but the urge to make it a horse race is overwhelming. Ā Which brings us to Kirstie. Clearly the odds makers aren’t going on a week to week scoring basis because Kirstie is still in the bottom and Kelly is up there in 5th place. I don’t know – I think that (unfortunately) Ā the odds dudes have the bottom three correct, but I ‘m not sure that’s the order they should be in. I guess we’ll see.

Courtney: The Emmitt thing blows my mind – I get it, the guy is charming, but he’s also just been a relatively ho-hum dancer this season, who’s been ending up at the middle-to-lower end of the scoreboard pretty consistently.Ā  He hasn’t done anything that has shown me that he’s suddenly a contender for the MBT.Ā  And while the NFL fanbase is considerable, I don’t see it overtaking the Olympian fanbase.Ā  And I’m not sure why Apolo’s odds dropped and Gilles’ rose, in a week where Apolo got a perfect score (and lavish praise from the judges) and Gilles performed a bizarre, androgynous dance that left the judges kind of puzzled.Ā  Unless the oddsmakers are playing into the same fallacy that so many viewers seem to be playing into: that “in jeopardy” and “in the bottom 2” mean the same thing.Ā  Couldn’t be further from the truth – for all we know, Apolo could have been the highest vote-getter last week, but hey, somebody’s got to be in jeopardy.Ā  As for those hanging out at the bottom – I don’t think Kirstie’s going to get to the finale, or even the semifinals.Ā  Sorry kids – but I don’t see her faring well in fusion dance, and I’m anticipating she’ll be first out in the marathon dance; as for next weekĀ – she’s likely going to end up with one of the waltzes (if it’s Viennese, she’s a goner, methinks) and the trio dance…and I’m not sure those dances really favor her, either.Ā  Plus she’s the only contestant left that we know for sure has been in the bottom 2.Ā  I think she’s probably going to be part of the week 8 double elim – and it’s going to beĀ a toss-up on who joins her there.Ā  Maybe Melissa, maybe Kelly, hopefully Gilles.Ā  Lord knows how anyone else is faring in the votes.

DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 6: Agree or Disagree?

What a difference a week of dances make on Dancing With The Stars again. The Odds Makers at Sports Bovada have placed their bets again. First, check out Shawn Johnson! In all of the time I’ve been writing these odds up have I ever seen such strong odds favoring someone and rightfully so. Shawn is off the hook. Emmitt Smith has risen up the ladder to second place again. Apolo and Kelly have both fallen some. Note too how the odds makers are even more convinced this week that Kirstie Alley is going home which I still think they are wrong about. Same with Sabrina. I think it should be Kelly at the bottom this week.

Shawn Johnson 1/1
Emmitt Smith 7/2
Gilles Marini 9/2
Apolo Anton Ono 6/1
Kelly Monaco 10/1
Melissa Rycroft 33/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 75/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 5 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 7/5
Apolo Anton Ono 4/1
Emmitt Smith 4/1
Kelly Monaco 5/1
Gilles Marini 6/1
Melissa Rycroft 25/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

So, what do you think? Are the odds makers in Las Vegas wrong or right this time? Let’s get Miss Heidi’s and Courtney’s thoughts….

Courtney: These oddsmakers seem to get far too influenced by the ups and downs of each week.Ā  I think it takes at least 2 weeks of really good (or really bad) performances to see a pattern that could genuinely affect the odds.Ā  I also think the split performance nights may have negatively affected certain individuals while helping others – Emmitt may have had theĀ most memorableĀ individual performance of the first night, but it pales in comparison to every routine we saw on Tuesday night; yet he got so hyped and overscored on Monday night (and everyone on Tuesday night, with the exception of Sabrina, got low-balled) that it gives the impression that he’s a legitimate frontrunner, and he rises back to 2nd placeĀ – which I highly doubt.Ā  Likewise, 3 of the 4 couples that danced on Tuesday night seemed to get lowballed, and I think that negatively affected their odds – even though I think it was kind of obvious they had the superior dances.Ā  And then there’s Shawn – what exactly did she do this week that suddenly made her a sure thing? Like Vogue, I also think they may be underestimating the rebound effect of Kirstie’s fans – even if a couple is ultimately destined for the chopping block, they often seem to experienceĀ a surge in votes the week after they’re in the bottom 2.Ā  I think that could happen for Kirstie this week…and I think the most likely candidates to take her place in the bottom 2 are Kelly & Melissa.Ā  But who knows – this season is weird.Ā  It makes my head spin šŸ˜›

Heidi: Um, no. I’m still of the opinion that Apolo will ultimately edge out Shawn. Ā And I think he will definitely edge out Gilles. I was going to say that I think they have the bottom three all wrong, but then I remember these are odds to WIN. I think Emmitt and Kelly are both too high, Sabrina a touch too low. If the standings remain the same this week, I think Kirstie beats Kelly. Courtney’s right, though – this season is CRAZY. I think the closest things to a “sure thing” are Apolo and Shawn – and if the judges keep on with the crack, I could change my mind about both. Ā The rest? I hope like hell Gilles is a “shocking” elimination but that’s about it. I would hate to be an odds maker because it’s too hard to call the finale. Maybe that’s why the called Shawn even money – the rest are too fluid and uncertain.

DWTS Season 15 Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 5: Agree or Disagree?

What an interesting shake up we’ve had in Las Vegas Odds from for Dancing With The Stars these last few weeks! According to Sports Bovada again, we have Shawn leading the odds with Apolo and Emmitt tied and not far behind which I agree with. In fact, I agree with all the placements the odds makers have wagered below except for Kirstie Alley who they keep wanting to give such low odds to. She’s danced fairly well these last few weeks and they shouldn’t be underestimating her and Maks’ fan base which I would think dominates Sabrina’s, Melissa’s, Gilles’, and Kelly’s fan bases? Also note how Kelly’s odds are stronger compared to the week before and she moved up a place higher than Gilles. Interesting and deserving in my opinion!!

New Las Vegas Odds going into Week 5:

Shawn Johnson 7/5
Apolo Anton Ono 4/1
Emmitt Smith 4/1
Kelly Monaco 5/1
Gilles Marini 6/1
Melissa Rycroft 25/1
Sabrina Bryan 50/1
Kirstie Alley 66/1

Last weekā€™s odds going into week 4, to compare:

Shawn Johnson ā€“ 7/4
Apolo Anton Ohno ā€“ 9/4
Emmitt Smith ā€“ 7/2
Gilles Marini ā€“ 13/2
Kelly Monaco ā€“ 12/1
Melissa Rycroft ā€“ 15/1
Bristol Palin ā€“ 25/1
Sabrina Bryan ā€“ 33/1
Kirstie Alley ā€“ 50/1

Summing it up…again, I think the odds makers have pegged it, but, I think Sabrina should be at the bottom with Kirstie or Melissa second to last.

Let’s get my fellow Partners In Crimes thoughts on the matter and be sure to let us know what you think too in the comments section…..

Courtney: My only complaint here is that I still think Emmitt is too high – at this point I think Kelly or Gilles has a better chance of making it to the finaleĀ than he does.Ā  I like Emmitt as a person – he seems to be a nice guy and is having fun this season; but I don’t really see the hunger to win in him like I do in most of the others.Ā  But then again, he does seem to be getting some pretty cushy scores…but the judges do seem to be a lot less “enchanted” with him as the weeks wear on.Ā  Who knows what’s going on there. But I am quite glad to see Gilles getting edged out by Kelly šŸ˜‰ Now if only Melissa makes some big moves this week and can overtake him as well! As for Kirstie – I do think after her bottom 2 appearance this week, they’ve got it about right.Ā  Skill-wise, she’s just not really a match for anyone else this season, and I think some of theĀ votes she would have gotten on a regular season are now going to other contestants who might share her fanbase (possibly Kelly & Melissa, maybe Emmitt).Ā  I think it’s safe to say she isn’t going to win this season – but how much longer will she stick around?

Heidi: I think Kirstie is in the right spot as well. Sabrina has the potential to get great scores. Kirstie? Not so much, relative to other dancers. Since she was in the bottom two this past week, any bad score could do her in, whereas Sabrina could possibly be spared by a really great dance. Ā The key will be that Sabrina do well on Monday and that her team does well in the team dance. I think Kirstie beats her in votes probably easily, but with a good margin Sabrina has shown she can hang on. I think the margin that Kirstie failed to beat was 17k. If that happens again, I think Kirstie goes…unless someone unexpected falls to the bottom. Like Melissa. I kinda think that Emmitt might not be as strong as anyone thinks either. Between Apolo, Shawn, Gilles and even Melissa/Sabrina, he seems kinda forgettable. Ā He’s definitely too high in the rankings, IMO.

Time Entertainment Blogs DWTS All Stars, Week 4

Vogue’s back, hooooray!! Ā But I saw this blog before I knew she was back and I’ve been trying to post it all day – cuz I thought it sounded like something I might write and it had funny parts. Here are a couple excerpts Time’s Entertainment Blog:

Last night was full of surprises onĀ Dancing with the Stars: All Stars, at least according to co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet, who was dressed like a mermaid when she said it, so you know it is has to be true. Yet after every performance show, we have to watch someone we love (or barely tolerateĀ ā€”Ā weā€™re looking at you, Drew Lachey) go home. Who was it last night? Before we get to the dramatic elimination, we get some thrilling behind-the-scenes footage of Bristol Palin cheering her own score (32!) and Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy making a make-up lady uncomfortable with their weird mooning over each other that would not be out of place in the back row of a high school viewing ofĀ Twilight. In short, letā€™s just get to the results already.

How did the pitter patter of little feet score? Letā€™s find out:

Least Surprising Save: Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough are safe after earning three 10s and a grouchy 9.5 for their mambo. Joining them in the Circle of Safety are fake vote-seeking lovebirds Val Chmerkovskiy and Kelly Monaco as well as Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel and, presumably, the Cookie Monster if he survived eviscerating Sabrina last night.

Best Vote Stacking: Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy proudly crowed about finally getting a 30 from the judges. No need to mention that it took adding an extra judgeā€™s score to get to 30. Kirstie and Maks are in jeopardy despite their ā€œhighā€ score.

Random Gripe: This show is wildly inconsistent with their flashback dances. Sometimes they pick a dance to be done over during the results show, and sometimes they donā€™t. I want to see Shawn and Derekā€™s mambo again and the judges should have let me.

DWTS Season 15 – Maksim Thinks He and Kirstie are the “Best Entertainers”

Whatcha smokin’ sunshine?? šŸ™‚  Eh, you’re fun, but the best?? That would be Gilles…  :::cough, cough:::  Just kidding. šŸ˜€ But you’re still not the best in MY book. šŸ™‚  I’ve seen you and Kirstie’s shtick before.   Some excerpts from Maks’ latest blog:

I really enjoyed the whole dance selection segment, but the problem was, none of us could hear what Tom and Brooke were saying on stage! It’s so loud in there, so when they explained how it was going to work, none of us heard it. Afterward, I went up to one of the producers and asked how the order was selected and they explained it was the cumulative score and the lowest couple picked for the highest couple and then vice versa. It’s obvious they wanted the lower couples to sabotage the higher couples by giving them silly dances, but nobody really did. Nobody tried to put someone down. Plus, I don’t think 10 seconds is enough time to strategize like that. Louis actually came up to me after the show and said, “Hey, are you really upset we gave you the Charleston? We think it’d be good for you.” And I said, “No, not at all. It was just in the moment. I don’t think I would’ve been happy with either right then.” But overall, I thought the idea itself was funny and it was different from what we normally do.

I’m so happy for Val that he’s made it past the third week for the first time. I love him and Kelly’s partnership. I love that they have emerged as a surprise contender, if you can even say that in an all-star season. I love their chemistry. I’ve known Kelly for a long time and she’s a good friend. She’s got an amazing story, from her youth to how she got to where she is now. I’m glad that audiences are recognizing them as a couple that’s up there. We have no idea what the vote totals are, but I really hope there’s a strong fan base behind them. I do wish that they would reveal the votes at least. I do believe that everything’s fair, and if it’s not manipulated, what do you have to hide? In a season like this, votes are more important than ever.

Poor, poor, naive Maks. šŸ™‚ Dude, there are several reasons why you don’t reveal the vote totals. One, if they are low in total number, it’s just embarrassing. Two, it ruins the DRAMA of it all. If you knew who was getting what votes every week, just think how easy it would be to predict the elimination order or the winner? Yeah, I’m pretty much kicking ass this season anyway šŸ˜‰ but there would be no challenge. Anyway…you DID TOO look like an ugly woman. šŸ™‚

I don’t, however, think I looked like an ugly woman. I think I’d make for a handsome woman! The whole concept was a lot of fun and obviously we were going for the androgynous rocker look because that’s what the era was like. I think that when you play a rock star, you go all out. When it comes to acting, if I were to play a role, there’d be a lot more research of the character’s mindset, etc. It’s very important to understand why the person was going through what they went through. Rock ‘n’ roll was a whole lifestyle. It was drug-induced. When we’re getting ready for the dance, Kirstie was like, “You have to act like you’re tripping on acid.” I’ve never done a drug in my life. I don’t have the slightest idea of what a person tripping on acid looks like. I’m not judging rock stars or their decisions because what they did was genius, but it’s very hard for me to understand what that was like.

The Insider has the bit on Maks and his cryogenics thing – didn’t Maria turn him on to this last season??

DWTS All Stars – The Make Up Team Releases Week 3 Photos

I always find these interesting, although I rarely comment on them. This week I clicked the link to their facebook and saw an interesting series of pictures. I will narrate for you…

“Someone’s missing…Hey, Derek, get your little butt over into this picture!!” Derek: “I’m busy man, leave me alone.”

Gilles: “Come sit by me, Derek”

Apolo: “Raahahaha I danced GOOD.”

Various crew members successfully wrestle Derek in to position… “DEREK, PUT DOWN THE PHONE.”

Crew member takes his phone. Derek: “You can’t keep me here…this sucks.”

After having avoided the Make Up Teams camera for 2.5 weeks, Derek is finally captured on film. And he ain’t happy about it.

The End šŸ˜‰

DWTS Season 15 – Week 3 Post Elimination Media

Heh. You guys are used to getting all the media from nice, sweet, kind Vogue. Now you’re stuck with ME. And Courtney. I saw Courtney being all nice in her Voguecation post. Don’t expect the same from me. :::evil grin:::

Of course, you know when I go to OTRC, I’m going to watch Gilles and Louis to see how big an idiot they’re acting. šŸ™‚ But when I started watching Gilles, I got distracted by what Derek is doing to Anna in the background.  And she’s like…petting him or something. Dancers. Very touchy feely. Click the link to watch all of the couples.

Does Louis know at this point that he and Sabrina were bottom three? šŸ™‚ Remember, the ballroom is VERY loud so they can’t hear all that well. Louis makes it quite clear he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s assuming Kirsti was a bottom two when she wasn’t. Sorry Louis, you were third from the bottom. Anyway, again with the “redemption” arch and how Helio was the champion Sabrina’s season. Give it a rest already. Sabrina and Helio were TIED – which means Sabrina only needed ONE vote to beat him. Not thousands….ONE.

Entertainment Tonight with Maks, Kirstie and Paula – Kirstie and Paula get after Maks a bit. šŸ™‚ Then it’s Maks/Kirstie…and well, I couldn’t watch it all. I don’t have that kind of time. šŸ™‚

Saying Goodbye To Drew Lachey & Helio Castroneves – Elimination Interviews

Court here, filling in for the “Voguecationing” Vogue šŸ˜Ž I know I’m not as good at these as she is, but I’m gonna give it the old college try in her absence! And just hope that she comes back to us soon šŸ™ We miss you, Vogue!!!

Making the rounds after their heartbreaking (and premature, IMO) double elimination last night, Drew & Anna and Helio & ChelsieĀ chatted first with On the Red Carpet:
Ā

They also chatted with Access Hollywood about their early ouster.Ā  God love Helio, he has got to be one of the most gracious, positive people I think we’ve ever had on the show – he seems to be taking it all in stride and is just grateful for the opportunity to return.Ā  Drew seems to be taking it a little bit harder – even though I think he knew it was coming, doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt any less.Ā  Anna also seems to be pretty upset about it.

The last stop of the evening was Jimmy Kimmel – by that point, I think everyone was getting a little tired & slap-happy and were just tryng to have fun šŸ˜› :

UPDATE: You can check out Drew & Anna, Helio & Chelsie getting interviewed by Ann Romney on GMA this morning here. I think the interview getsĀ a little awkward & choppy due to the delay in the feed between NY & LA (and Ann just being kind of new at the whole interviewing thing), but Drew obviously has a bone to pick with the judges for their scores…can’t say I blame him.Ā

I’m actually really sad to see these two go – they were two of the bright spots for me each week, even if they weren’t the best dancers, because I could tell they were working hard and having fun…unlike some others this season šŸ˜Æ

Ok guys, I’m gonna enlist your help – if you happen upon any other elimination interviews that I haven’t already posted, go ahead and post the LINK ONLY (don’t embed it, it makes the comments go all wonky)Ā in the comments section and I will add it.Ā  I dunno how Vogue does it –Ā I have a whole new appreciation for how thorough and comprehensive her coverage is.Ā  I can barely keep up! šŸ˜›
