DWTS Season 25, THE FINALE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

We have redemption dances, we have freestyles and god only knows what else!! Oh, right, A FUN FINALE!!

At this moment I only have some redemption dances, thanks to Casanova finding them on the DWTS Instagram account.

ETA: Lots more info now and I’m liking most of what I’m seeing here!! Frankie has two good songs although he might suffer in comparison to previous uses of “Run Boy Run” – LOVE his Frank Sinatra song.  Honestly, I don’t see any real stinkers in here…yet. 🙂

ETA2: Got a little bit of intel on the fusion dances.  Apparently whatever Jordan got, he only required an hour of rehearsal time to learn it 😛 -Court-

DWTS Season 25, The Semi-Finals – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So, the pros have chosen the song for the first dance of the night. I remember a time when the pros chose all of their own music. Guess that’s rarely the case any more, since they’re making a production about it being the case monday night.  In addition,  the press release says: “The Couples’ Second Dance Will Take on an Iconic Routine From a Past Season”.  Well, that’s not good news at all. In the past they’ve done the routine and then other times they’ve only used the music but did new choreo. This sounds like it will be the whole routine. Yikes.  Then later in the release it says: “The second is a special Iconic Dance, where each will be challenged to reinterpret an iconic dance from past seasons in this all-important Semi-Finals extravaganza.” The word “reinterpret” gives me some hope, but I think we’ll have to wait and see. As per usual, the producers give some mixed messages.

Personally, I think Nicole’s Proud Mary jive was the iconic dance…but then I think most of the dances they picked as “iconic” are not even close to the most iconic dances ever done on the show. Except for Amber’s, of course – which Val may just destroy. Of all the dances Amber did, though, I don’t think that’s the one that’s iconic. The Jazz, the freestyle…ah well. I guess they were limited by both music and styles not yet danced. But why label them iconic when they really aren’t??

Winners: Jordan and Lindsey S. each got two styles they should be able to handle with ease. Not only that, but Mark ought to be able to improve tremendously on Maks’ Tango chore and Lindsay will have no problem with the Jordan/Jive combo, I don’t think.

50-50: Victoria’s first dance, the Waltz, should be easy on her, but trying to live up to Amber could be very problematic, depending on what the “rules” of this game are this season. Are they required to use similar choreo/similar costumes?? Will they show excerpts of the original – if they do any of that she could be hosed. If it’s all completely new she might be okay.

Losers: Drew and Frankie, for a variety of reasons – take your pick.

ETA: George has started releasing the running order…and so far it’s the same as last week.  As in the past, I begin to wonder if they’re dancing in the order they’re going to finish, reversed.  Sometimes it’s true, sometimes it ain’t.  But this wouldn’t surprise me, although I think Victoria should go tonight.

ETA2: Okay, not the same as last week. And likely not in the order they’re going to finish. But ya never know. 🙂

DWTS Season 25, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, we got the trios from People.com so this post is going up a good bit earlier than normal. When I’m still super pissed about the bogus underscoring of Team Monster Mash and massive over scoring of Team Phantom. It’s called “protect the C-boy at all costs” – which is going to be the death of this show. Their pathetic inability to just let the show evolve naturally – and in such a transparent way – is just sad. If Val was all that, he wouldn’t need the help. What would have happened if both teams got all 9’s? Well, I would guess that Victoria would be eliminated. Now, she’s near the top of the leaderboard.

ETA: New info highlighted red!! Dance order per George Pennachio.

Terrell Owens and Cheryl
Dancing 1st and 7th

DWTS Season 25, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Happy Halloween!! I’m carving pumpkins at work on Monday, but hopefully home in time for the show. 🙂 Here’s a bit from the press release that might interest you:

In addition, the celebrities and their pros will be grouped into two teams – Team Monster Mash (team captain is Terrell Owens) and Team Phantom of the Opera (team captain Drew Scott) – with each performing a dance to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. The two team captains were chosen because they had the lowest cumulative scores across the season, and they were given the chance to pick their teams in order to help boost their rankings with both the judges and viewers. The team dance scores will be combined with the celebrity’s individual dance scores for a final tally.

Er, seriously?? You have THREE Pasos yet everyone else has a different style? Why? And do these songs seem Halloween-y to you all?? Not really to me, but I guess it depends on the staging, etc.

Winners: The Paso people might be the winners, especially Lindsey since she gets to pimp her own song. 🙂 Frankie should be alright with Contemporary. I would guess that Cheryl can do a killer (pun intended) Tango but, man, can’t deal with that song.

Losers: A Jive to “I put a spell on you”??? Huh. I guess I’ll have to listen to it, but this doesn’t sound like a good plan. A Halloween Charleston? Again, huh. We’ll see.

ETA: And George is starting to get the dance order…Victoria is dancing first tonight. Just a reminder that in week 7, the dance order no longer means nearly as much. Although, since we still have 8 couples it’s NOT irrelevant.

Victoria Arlen and Val – Viennese Waltz (Song: “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron)
Dancing 1st
1-800-868-3413

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay – Paso Doblé (Song: “Animals” by Martin Garrix)
1-800-868-3406

Nikki Bella and Artem – Jive (Song: “I Put a Spell on You” by Bette Midler (“Hocus Pocus” version))
1-800-868-3409

Vanessa Lachey and Maks – Paso Doblé (Song: “Game of Survival” by Ruelle)
1-800-868-3412

Terrell Owens and Cheryl – Tango (Song: “Super Freak” by Rick James)
1-800-868-3411

Lindsey Stirling and Mark – Paso Doblé (Song: “Roundtable Rival” by Lindsey Stirling)
1-800-868-3407

Frankie Muniz and Whitney – Contemporary (Song: “Every Breath You Take” by Chase Holfelder)
1-800-868-3405

Drew Scott and Emma – Charleston (Song: “Remains of the Day” by Danny Elfman)
1-800-868-3404

Team Monster Mash

Team Phantom of the Opera

Team Drew and Team Terrell – already discussed quite a bit in Courtney’s post.

PureDWTS Season 25, Week 7 – *SPOILERS* The Team Dances!!!

Bear with me, friends, as I’m getting incomplete info and trying to type this out on my iPhone without my glasses, which I left at the office…wuh wuh wuhhhh.

Apparently they went a completely different route picking the captains this time – Drew is one of the captains, and Terrell is the other, which leads me to think they went with lowest cumulative score instead of highest this time around. No, I don’t know which order they picked in, so do not assume the order the couples are listed is somehow indicative of picking order. All I know is that the dances are freestyles again…will update if/when I know more.

First impressions? I think Terrell’s team has a ginormous edge – and I think if the Chmerkovskiys are wise, they’ll let Emma and Witney have input.

UPDATE: Added songs, and grabbed Drew’s team name from a Snapchat someone tweeted me. About 90% sure Drew got to pick first and chose to pick music, which would have given Terrell first pick of team members.

UPDATE #2: There’s some pix of the teams at People – although I will point out that Maks was actually referring to his team as “Phantom of the Ballroom” and not “Phantom of the Opera” on Instagram/Snapchat.

Team Phantom of the Ballroom (song: “Theme from Phantom of the Opera”)

Drew & Emma (captain)

Frankie & Witney

Vanessa & Maks

Victoria & Val

Team Monster Mash (Song: “Monster Mash”)

Terrell & Cheryl (captain)

Lindsey & Mark

Jordan & Lindsay

Nikki & Artem

Note: These are two different polls. The team you think has the edge isn’t necessarily the one that will win. 🙂

Sneak Peeks at DWTS Season 25 Week 6 (Photos)

I’ve been seeing a lot of photos of little peeks at Monday’s show so I figured I’d put them all in a post.  Love Nikki and Artem’s costumes, and Witney’s belongs in Courtney’s “Who Wore it Better” series. 🙂

DWTS Season 25, Week 5 – Dancing by the Numbers!

DWTS is on the verge of boring the shit out of me once again.

Why, you ask? Well, they just seem so OBVIOUS to me. Perhaps they’re obvious to everyone which is why they’ve fallen below 10 million viewers for the first time EVER this season. But really, how many times do we have to see this scenario play out: they cast the show, sometimes with an obvious gimmick they are invested in (the Chmerlacheys) and sometimes just someone who is ABC family who they need to pimp. THEY, the producers, are invested in it for one reason or another and therefore they feel the need to pimp the crap out of it to try to get everyone else buying it as well.  It DOESN’T WORK OUT, so they are scrambling. They can’t just let the show evolve organically, so they think (tragically) that they must have a Chmerkovskiy in the finale – so they go to plan B: pimp the crap out of Val’s partner. Yes, Val was actually Plan B for a change. LOL. Does it occur to NO ONE on that show that if Val was that great he wouldn’t need all that help? Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 6 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Couldn’t find the press release this week, so I got these from DWTSGossip. I also didn’t have time to look and see if these songs are actually associated with movies, or if they were given a song/dance style and then the movie genre to work within. I’m thinking this MIGHT be better than giving them an actual movie. We’ve had some crap ass Movie nights when too many of the movies just didn’t work. Anyway…

Winners: Lindsey has done a bit of AT with the master, Derek, so she might have a bit of leg up, depending on how much AT he actually taught her in their 3 hours of rehearsal. Frankie doing Jazz should be a good thing – no rules and all that.

Losers: Oy veh – Nick and rumba?? Should be a disaster. Nikki gets “foreign” as a genre? Hosed. First she gets the Disney song no one knows and now this? Sheesh.

Everyone else is probably fine. I wonder if they’ll all get 24. 🙂 Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 4 – Dancing by the Numbers!

You really want me to believe that SIX couples all got a 24 on the same night?? That’s utterly ridiculous.

I also am having a hard time with a top three that consists of Jordan, Lindsey and…Victoria?? Very nice girl and all, but in no way was she a point ahead of Lindsey and 3 points above the rest of the pack. Makes you wonder if she’s in a bit of trouble. I don’t find her much more memorable than Sasha, sad to say. And the producers are certainly more invested in Val than they are Gleb, for some strange reason.

Now that you mention it, Frankie, Jordan, Lindsey and TO were the ones that are still sticking with me several days after the show aired. Not a great sign for the rest, I must say. Drew and Nikki are up there as well – and kudos to Artem and Emma for making sure that their celebs don’t fade into the woodwork. Neither is coasting and both are doing some good work here. Both did a brilliant job showcasing their celeb and doing something to get the audience talking. They are not coasting.

That doesn’t mean they’ll be safe…but I do think that Jordan, Lindsey and Victoria are our “safe” ones this week.  What does the leaderboard look like? Well, like I was saying – pretty damn simple.

So, Nick is the low man on the totem pole.  And there are 6 people above him all with the same score. The question is: does Nick have the ability to get enough votes more than any of that 6 to be safe? What kind of votes are we talking about?

So, Nick needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than the 6 people immediately above him on the leader board – Frankie, Nikki, Sasha, Vanessa, Drew and TO.   Question is: does he have the juice to beat any of those people?

I’m thinking there are one or two that he might be able to pass. I know I called Sasha as the one to be eliminated last week and nothing has changed to make me thing she’s any safer this week. Nikki is the only other one in that group that I feel like could be in danger.

Thing is, when someone is put in jeopardy it can go one of two ways. Typically (or as of the last time I studied it), if you are put in jeopardy, it means that you’re not long for this world. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule. But Nick’s problem is that he’s been there more than once – so it’s only a matter of time, IMO, before he’s gone. But the producers putting you in jeopardy does often stimulate votes. Is that working this time? Hell if I know. 😉

At the end of the day, I think it comes down to Nick, Sasha and Nikki. One of those three isn’t long for this show.  We already know that Nick needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than the group above him, but what about that group? Who is most likely to be safe??

Well, I don’t think there is any way that that group gets 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than Lindsey. But they don’t have to – they only need ONE more vote per million to be safe over the others in their group.  So, out of Frankie, TO, Vanessa, Nikki, Sasha and Drew, who are the kids getting the votes? Well, I think Frankie and Drew always were getting the votes. I think, after last week, TO is getting the votes for a while longer. He sure won me over. That leaves us with Vanessa, Nikki and Sasha. I think Vanessa is doing fine – she’s only in trouble if crazy fans decide that Maks is very upset to be dancing with her…or vice versa. I feel like she’s still good for a bit.

Once again, we are left with Nikki, Nick and Sasha – honestly, I feel like Nikki is safe and it’s going to come down to Nick and Sasha. But your guess is as good as mine.  For Nikki to be safe she needs ONE of the following things to happen:

  • Nikki needs for Nick to NOT get the 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than her, OR;
  • Nikki needs for ONE of Sasha, Vanessa, TO, Frankie and Drew to NOT get ONE more vote per million votes cast than her, OR;
  • Nikki needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than Lindsey.

And so on. That last one is unlikely to happen, but I can certainly see Sasha not getting more votes than her. And if Sasha is, is Nick getting the 7,400? I have a hard time believing that he still has that kind of fanbase.  My gut is saying that Nikki is safe.

Which leaves us with Nick and Sasha. Nick and Sasha, Sasha and Nick.  No idea. One part of me is saying that Nick is finally done, but Sasha is just such a non-event for me. Nick is too, but he’s memorable in his badness, not to mention that he’s getting double the screen time of everyone other than his wife. That being said, the show probably can’t support three fam members beyond week 5 and the fam fans are more likely to go with Maks and Val over Peta. Mores the pity.

I kinda feel like Nick is done…but ask me again in 5 minutes and it will be Sasha. If it’s either one of those two, I’ll call this week a win for me. If not, well, it’s just impossible. 🙂

DWTS Season 25, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Disney Week – another theme that, to me, seems like it can go either way. And honestly, some of these selections seem…weird. I couldn’t find the press release, but this is what a Disney fan site has…but it seems legit.

Winners: Lindsey/Mark, Jordan/Lindsay and Drew/Emma all got good dance style with highly recognizable and/or current songs. I’m already dying to see what Mark will do with his song. I also think Cheryl will do something fun for TO.

Losers: Once again, Nikki kinda gets hosed with a song from a movie that hasn’t even been released yet.

The Jury is Out: Nick got a great song, but I’m doubtful that he can do it justice. Frankie and AT?? I’m cautiously optimistic. Sasha should have a great combo, but I’m no longer confident that Gleb can give her something memorable…and she desperately needs it. Victoria and Vanessa?? Eh.

ETA: Apparently, Val couldn’t find a way to do a Charleston so it’s been changed to Jazz.  Remember how the judges always claim that all the contestants have to be judged the same regardless? Yeah, right.

ETA2: Here’s the Dance order per George Pennachio…Go Nikki closing the show!! I would like to think it means something, it likely has to do with set pieces on a night like Disney night.

Victoria Arlen and Val – Jazz (Song: “Steamboat Willie” from Steamboat Willie)

Vanessa Lachey and Maks – Waltz (Song: “Un Jour Mon Prince Viendra” from Snow White)
