Pure DWTS 2011 – Dancing With The Stars TV Ratings For May 23-29

Below are the new Nielsen TV Ratings for May 23rd-29th. Listings include the week’s ranking and viewership. As you can see, the Dancing With The Stars Results show beat out American Idol’s performance night last week with 22.86 million viewers. However, American Idol’s Finale topped the list with 29.29 million viewers which drew its largest audience since 2008 (a 21-percent increase over last year’s 24.22 million viewers). The two-hour season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” on May 24th was third for the week, averaging 21.42 million viewers, “the second-most for a Spring finale and 16 percent more than the 18.4 million average for last Spring’s finale”. The hour-long final competition program May 23rd finished second, averaging 22.86 million viewers, “the most for a spring final competition program and 18 percent more than last spring’s final competition program”. The combined average for the Spring season of “Dancing with the Stars” and “Dancing with the Stars: The Results Show” was 21.1 million viewers, “the most in series history” according to OCRegister. More listings and ratings below. Note how high the finale show’s for Glee and House are on the list. “So You Think You Can Dance” had a great premiere night placed at 9th with 9.46 million viewers.  (Heidi’s Note: So, Nigel Lithgow has been doing some very creative bragging on Twitter about how AI’s “finale” beat DWTS – he neglected to mention that when the two shows went HEAD TO HEAD, AI loses. Sure, Idol won wednesday night – no competition. I suspected from what I had seen that Nigel was full of crap – nice to see the confirmation in writing. 🙂  Heck, Glee isn’t doing well as  a lead – DWTS re-run isn’t far behind it. No wonder they keep doing that – it’s a smart plan.)

Dancing With The Stars 12 – Cheryl Burke Talks On Dancing, Her Book, And Her New Shoe Line

This past week, Cheryl Burke did an Interview for TV Guide’s Hollywood 411 Show. She chats about Dancing With The Stars and what it was like dancing this past Season with Chris Jericho. She also talks about her new book, “Dancing Lessons”. She also has a new shoe line called “The Cheryl Burke Collection” which she is launching on the Home Shopping Network July 5th. She has said her new shoe collection will include “anything from high heels to comfortable shoes to dancing shoes”. You can view a picture of some of her shoe line here. She’s also wearing a pair of her shoes for this interview. Way cute.

Special Note: Friday night, Cheryl is holding a fundraiser for Japan’s earthquake and tsunami relief at her dance studio in Los Angeles. For details on how you can help or participate, go >>>>>HERE. Below is the official promo poster for it.

DWTS12 – Louis Van Amstel: “Not only are you a teacher with your celebrity, you make her grow”

In a new interview with ABC 4 in Salt Lake City, Louis Van Amstel talks all about Dancing With The Stars from how he made it on the show (his slicked back hair in those earlier days are a crack up. I love it!), what the show was like in the very beginning in the first Season, and what it’s like to teach the celebrities. It can be “painful”. See why below or at the link. Super interview! I like why he says he will never leave Utah!

Dancing With The Stars 12 – Hines Ward: “It is still surreal to me being the champ of dwts.”

Be thinking and sending positive thoughts to Hines Ward. Today he’s having surgery on his thumb. Prior to the surgery yesterday, he gave the 96.1 Kiss Morning Freak Show in Pittsburgh a new interview where he talks about his time in Los Angeles, and his journey and friendship with Kym on Dancing With The Stars. He has seen Kym every day since the Finals. He also talks of making an appearance at the CMT Awards in June for those interested. You can listen to the audio >>>>HERE.

Also, here is a picture of Hines’ son and a take expaining it from Hines’ facebook page. So cute!

Man it sure does feel good to be back home. It is still surreal to me being the champ of dwts. I’m relaxing by the pool with my son catching up on dad time. He wanted to try the band outfit on. Haha he’s so funny. Well, wishing everyone a happy but safe Memorial Day weekend and wanted to give a special thanks to the men and woman who served our country. God bless. Hines

Pure DWTS 2011 – “Dancing With The Lately Stars”

Lastnight on The Chelsea Lately Show, they did a parody of Dancing With The Stars. They called it “Dancing With The Lately Stars”. Former celebrity contestant Jerry Springer is one of the judges. This is a must see! Hey, anything that can fulfill our Dancing With The Stars withdrawals in the off season is a MUST, right?!!

Thanks to PureDWTS reader Mandy for letting us know about this spoof!! 😉

Pure DWTS 12 – Rapping, Ranking, Grading, and a Poll On The Dancing With The Stars Judges

Tom Bergeron posted this new video at his twitter of Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno during their best judging moments of Season 12 to a rap song. I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry watching this? 😯 But, it inspired a new Poll and ranking question which you can view and partake in below and in the comments if interested.

Lastly, if you were to rank Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno on how well they judged Season 12, how would you rank them in order? You can also “grade” them if you like.

My favorite judge is Len. I love his grumpiness. I also respect how he tries to stick to the traditional rules of ballroom dancing. I think his role as a judge on the show is the most important for this reason.

In ranking and grading the judges this Season, I’d do so like this. (Note: I took a grading point off for how they tried to manipulate and take away our rights to vote at the end even though I suspect producers were involved too.);

1. Len – Grade: B-
2. Carrie Ann – Grade: C
3. Bruno – Grade: C- (I’ve loved him and his dramatic style in the past and sometimes he describes just what I’m feeling after a dance. I can’t imagine the show without him. But, he goes too far in his criticisms when he demeans the contestants!)

I look forward to all of your thoughts! 😉

DWTS 12 – Brooke Burke Talks On The Dancing With The Stars Finals (Video)

KTLA interviewed Brooke after the Season Finale. She talks of how this Season had one the “nicest” casts they’ve ever had. The interviewers ask Brooke if they think Chelsea and Mark were robbed of the Mirror Ball. Brooke says it’s not fair to ask that because Hines had “rhythm” and related well to the audience. She was the most surprised at Kirstie’s success on the show, but, could see why she made it the finals on personality alone and women across America loved her. All this and more as Brooke promotes “Suave” as well.

Dancing With The Stars 2011 – Cheryl Burke and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Attend ‘The Love Festival’ In Las Vegas

If you’ve been following their twitter accounts, Maks, Cheryl, and Tony are currently in Las Vegas to help the cast of “LeReve” get ready for their shows at the Wynn. Saturday night, Maks and Cheryl were seen together with Jenny McCarthy at the Moon Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort for “The Love Festival”. Below is a picture of Cheryl and Maks who are said to have looked “cozy”. More at Vegas News.

I always thought these two looked striking together. I don’t think there is anything going on like the link hints at, but, the two have always been really good friends.

DWTS 12 – Mark Ballas’ Blog Comes To A Close And Pia Toscano Speaks About Their Friendship

Mark has penned his last blog (and a deep one at that!) for the Season at USA Today. He writes of how much he will miss his new best friend Chelsea and shares some song lyrics that came to mind on the way back to Los Angeles on the red eye. He also talks of his plans for the summer, how music is his passion and what drives him, and hopes to see us again at his shows this summer and for Season 13. More below and at the link.

Let me assure you: We had the time of our lives. I’ve learned a lot from Chelsea and I truly cherish the time she and I spent competing this season. Even though we’ve come across a new turning point and we will take different forks in the road, she’s a lovely person and I’m blessed to consider her a close friend for life!

As the frenzy after the finale slows down, I now get to focus on my passion, which is my music. I had a lot of fun interviews when I was in New York with MTV, VH1, and a few others, and we’re gearing up to play some shows this summer. Those dates should be released soon on my website and social media sites, so please check for those if you want to catch me play live. One fun event I’m really looking forward to playing this summer is the Martin Owner’s Club Annual Event, held at the Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, Pa. It’s such an honor to be supported by the music icon that is Martin!

As I’ve said many times before, music is what drives me. Even when I dance, I consider my movement an extension of the music, with the musicality predicting what movements will occur. The biggest difference between the two, music and dance, is that dance requires you to color between the lines determined by the rules of the dance discipline and music allows you to do whatever you feel on a blank canvas.

It’s been a great ride, Team Kanenball. I greatly appreciate all the love and support (and birthday wishes!) that I received this week and all season long. The journey was memorable and the memories will last a lifetime. I hope to catch some of you this summer at one of my shows and also this fall for Season 13. Happy summer everyone!

Pia Toscano also spoke out about Mark being in the Finals on the show and their friendship at Radar On-line. She says they are dating their careers and nothing more. Below is a take. You can also hear her talk about it in some audio at the link as well.

“We’re very supportive of each other,” Pia gushed about Mark. “I’m so proud of him – that he made it to the finals – and I’m sure he’s very proud of me as well.

“Right now though we are both dating our careers. We’re so involved in what we do. It’s an important time for me to really ride this wave and work really hard, so I have to stay really focused.”

And when it comes to all those late night ‘I love you’ Tweets that fly between the two?

“He’s just really sweet – he loves a lot of people!” Pia insisted. “We’re just very close friends.”

DWTS Season 12 – Chelsea Kane, Kirstie Alley, And Wendy Williams Dish About Dancing With The Stars Together (Videos)

Chelsea may have placed 3rd, but, Wendy Williams says that is good enough for her in this new interview on The Wendy Show. She is still a winner. Chelsea said she thought she’d be voted off early. So, she is pleased to get to Finals and for the recognition. She talks about her journey and how her and Mark are like brother and sister. She also talks a little on her future plans as well. More below.

Kirstie was also Wendy’s guest. They start out the interview talking about how annoying it is when the ‘age” factor is brought up. Kirstie thought she felt older at 24 than she does now.

We hope to have more of this interview with Wendy and Kirstie shortly.
