Dancing With The Stars Season 26 Finale Dance Information And More

Below is the dance information for the finals of Dancing With The Stars Season 26. Note that we just have a one night show this time. From Disney ABC:

THREE COUPLES REMAIN IN WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST COMPETITIVE SEASONS OF THE SHOW EVER, BUT ONLY ONE WILL TAKE HOME THE SPECIAL ATHLETES MIRRORBALL TROPHY, ON THE SEASON FINALE OF ABC’S ‘DANCING WITH THE STARS: ATHLETES,’ MAY 21

Each Couple Will Perform Two Dances

All 10 Athletes Set to Reunite and Perform One Last Dance Together

The Winner Will Be Determined Based on ‘Last Chance’ Live Viewer Votes
and the Judges’ Scores, Along with Last Week’s Viewer Votes

After three weeks of stunning competitive dancing, the final three couples advance to the finals of “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes,” live on MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand. It’s been a very close race this season, and each and every couple has stepped up to the plate and given their all on the ballroom floor.

All 10 of the athletes are set to reunite for a spectacular dance number. As for the three finalist couples, each will perform two dances. The first round will be inspired by their journey on the show, and each couple will perform a jazz, foxtrot or Viennese waltz routine. The second round will be a no-holds-barred freestyle dance. At the end of the night, based on “last chance” live viewer votes in the EDT/CDT time zones via ABC.com and Facebook, as well as the judges’ scores and last week’s viewer votes, one couple will be crowned the champion, culminating an incredible season, and take home the special Athletes Mirrorball trophy.

Each couple will dance to the following songs (in alphabetical order):

Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson – Jazz – “Anything You Can Do” from “Annie Get Your Gun” – The new Broadway cast recording

Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess – Foxtrot – “Conqueror” by “Empire” cast, featuring Estelle and Jussie Smollett

Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber – Viennese Waltz – “The Time of My Life” by David Cook

Each couple will dance freestyle to the following songs (in alphabetical order):

Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson – “Scooby Doo Pa Pa” by DJ Kass

Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess – “Walk on Water” by Thirty Seconds to Mars

Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber – “I Will Survive” by The Pussycat Dolls

Hosted by two-time Emmy®-winning host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” is the hit series in which athletes perform choreographed dance routines that are judged by a panel of renowned ballroom experts, including head judge, Len Goodman, and dancers/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

In week four, which airs at 8:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, May 21, this season’s champion will be determined based on that night’s judges’ scores and last week’s viewer votes, along with the results of a “last chance” vote during the live broadcast of the finale. Fans can vote online during the live broadcast in the Eastern and Central time zones at ABC.com at http://dwtsvote.abc.go.com/ and on Facebook at http://bit.ly/2o1VO7b. This “last chance” vote will open after all three couples have finished their final dance and will remain open for a few minutes before the champion is crowned.

Dancing With The Stars Season 26 Week One Down Over 40% From Last Year’s Premiere

I was afraid of this. From Variety, here are some stats on last night’s ratings. Be sure to read more at the link. My parents always use to say either go all the way with something or not at all. Is this the case for a short season? Even still, 8+ million viewers is still ok, but is it enough?

“Dancing with the Stars” hit a new demo low for a regular episode on Monday with the ABC competition series debuting its all-athletes edition.

Airing from 8-10 p.m, “Dancing With the Stars” averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.5 million viewers. That is down over 40% in the demo from the show’s premiere last spring premiere and approximately 30% in total viewers. The ABC series also lost to “The Voice” over its two-hour broadcast, with the NBC series holding steady for the week with a 1.6 and 8.7 million viewers.

Later on ABC, “The Crossing” (0.5, 3.8 million) was also down in the demo.

After “The Voice,” “Good Girls” (0.9, 4.2 million) was steady.

Dancing With The Stars Makes Top 10 List Of America’s Most Watched TV Shows, TV Ratings Talk

While most media outlets like to carry on about how Dancing With The Stars is on it’s last legs, TV Guide is reporting that Dancing With The Stars is one of America’s Most Watched TV Programs of the 2012-2013 TV Season! Yes, the viewership numbers may be declining some, but, Dancing With The Stars is still hanging in there strong (in my opinion). Check out these overall rankings and numbers. Other shows out there would give anything to have rankings and numbers like this….

1. NCIS CBS 21.6 million

2. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL NBC 21.0 million

3. THE BIG BANG THEORY CBS 19.0 million

4. NCIS: LOS ANGELES CBS 17.5 million

5. PERSON OF INTEREST CBS 16.2 million

6. AMERICAN IDOL (Wednesday) Fox 15.1 million

7. DANCING WITH THE STARS (Monday) ABC 15.0 million

12. TWO AND A HALF MEN CBS 13.9 million

13. THE VOICE (Tuesday) NBC 13.5 million

14. BLUE BLOODS CBS 13.3 million

15. ELEMENTARY CBS 13.0 million

You can read the full article and see more rankings at TV Guide.

And while we are on the subject, you can view how the finale shows ranked for Dancing With The Stars Season 16 below. Note how both shows were the two most watched tv programs from May 20-26th. From USA Today via Nielson’s Ratings….

1. Dancing With the Stars Results ABC 15.2 13.8
2. Dancing With the Stars ABC 15.0 14.9

3. Criminal Minds CBS 11.0 12.3
4. The Voice NBC 10.8 14.3
5. The Voice NBC 10.2 13.5
6. Modern Family ABC 10.0 12.4
7. Big Bang Theory CBS 9.1 18.5
8. Hawaii Five-0 CBS 9.0 10.5
9. Tornado Coverage NBC 8.2
10. Mike & Molly CBS 7.9 10.3

Let’s see what Miss Heidi thinks….

Heidi: That’s nice and all, but that’s total viewers, not the key demographic. DWTS still sucks in that area. 🙂 But the total viewers numbers are the reason why I don’t think the performance show is going anywhere for a while. Yes, the demo is important, but it’s still getting viewers on Monday night. The way the Voice ratings drop like a stone once the blind auditions are over makes me wonder if NBC will consider changing them to a weaker TV night – they should. I’ve never understood the asinine competition between the networks – don’t you want to put your shows against WEAKER shows so you get great numbers, instead of piling them all into one night trying to knock another great show out?? Moronic. So, all the great TV seems to be on Sunday and Monday…while Friday and Saturday are a wasteland (as is Thursday). Come on, execs – it’s 2013. People aren’t watching TV live…and most DVRs can only record two shows at a time. Quit looking at the Nielsens and find a new way. For that matter, DWTS producers might have to find a new way too – one reason that DWTS might not survive in the long haul is cost. It can’t be cheap to produce that show like it is most reality shows. Watch for a post from me on this topic. It interests me. 🙂

Vogue: Heidi, I so agree. One of my favorite TV shows is DALLAS. They aired the second season on a Monday night against all of these huge shows and then they wonder why it’s ratings dropped. I wish they had left it alone and kept it airing in the summer on a Saturday night, but, it’s all about what the advertisers want now days. I hate that they have so much control. They will only end up hurting shows instead of helping them.

DWTS: Midseason 2010-11 TV Ratings – Dancing With The Stars 9th!

The Midseason TV Show Ratings have been announced! According to EW, Dancing With The Stars rates at #9!! Below is the Top 30! Be sure to view the link to see which other TV shows made the Top 50 (and bottom 50). Special Note (as Heidi just wrote me): DWTS hasn’t aired since November and that affects it’s standings in the midseason ratings and why it might not be rated even higher. All of the other shows listed have aired since November, so they benefit by the lack of DWTS. American Idol didn’t air at the same time as Dancing With The Stars, but, it probably has artificially high numbers due to the curiosity factor.

1. American Idol Wednesday (Fox, 9.9 rating/26 share)

2. American Idol Thursday (Fox, 8.2/22)

3. NFL Sunday Football (NBC, 8.0/20)

4. NFL Sunday Pre-kick (NBC, 5.6/15)

5. Modern Family (ABC, 5.0/13)

6. Overtime (Fox, 4.6/14)

7. Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 4.6/12)

8. Two and A Half Men (CBS, 4.6/11)

9. Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 4.6/11)

10. The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 4.5/13)

11. NCIS (CBS, 4.3/12)

12. Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS, 4.3/12)

13. The Office (NBC, 4.1/10)

14. Family Guy (Fox, 4.1/10)

15. Desperate Housewives (ABC, 4.1/9)

16. Glee (excludes special post-Super Bowl episode, Fox, 4.0/11)

17. Dancing with the Stars results (ABC, 4.0/10)

18. Criminal Minds (CBS, 3.9/10)

19. House (Fox, 3.9/10)

20. Football Night in America (NBC, 3.8/11)

21. The Amazing Race 17 (CBS, 3.8/9)

22. NCIS: LA (CBS, 3.8/10)

23. The Simpsons (Fox, 3.8/10)

24. How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 3.7/10)

25. Mr. Sunshine (ABC, 3.7/10)

26. Mike Molly (CBS, 3.7/9)

27. Undercover Boss (CBS, 3.7/9)

28. The Biggest Loser (NBC, 3.4/9)

29. Hawaii 5-0 (CBS, 3.4/9)

30. Cougar Town (ABC, 3.4/9)

So, do you see any of your favorite shows? Any surprises or disappointments? I was glad to see Hawaii Five-O make the Top 30. I was also glad to see Glee in the Top 10. I love that show (next to Dancing With The Stars” of course 😉 )! House is one of my favorite shows as well.
