PureDWTS Season 16 Media And Interviews After The Finale (Video Wrap Up)

Wow, what a finale on Dancing With The Stars!! All four contestants are truly winners in some way. Let’s get right to the new interviews for what took place after Monday night’s show with George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet. However, first, just a personal thank you to all of you for following along, reading us, and all of your support and participations this season. Also, don’t forget we don’t go away in the off season. We continue to report on all of the pros and cast from their dance and Red Carpet appearances and more. We also have some “exclusive” interviews planned. Courtney holds an Awards and much more. Heidi has some cool new series ideas planned….and then there is the new Cheesecake Awards. Plus, we post on all the NEW RUMORS for the new cast next season. Note: in the last off season, Jacoby Jones was rumored to dance right after the finals. So, you never know when a new rumor will pop up. It’s fun. So, don’t go away. Ok, time for some new interviews.

First up, Kellie and Derek!!! They talk of the “moment” they had during their Freestyle and the chances they took. Derek’s Mom was crying as she was so proud. Kellie is so happy for all the greatest new friends she made. Win or lose, they will cherish every moment.

George tells Jacoby that he may be an underdog, but, sometimes this can work in someone’s favor. He tells Jacoby he shouldn’t be down. Karina loves Jacoby and would not change a second of this journey. Also, there is no rest for Jacoby. As soon as Dancing With The Stars is over, he will head straight to football practice for the Baltimore Ravens. When George presses Jacoby on why he’s upset again, Jacoby says he’s mad and a competitor. He wanted higher scores, but, George says the fans could come through for them.

Aly says for whatever happens tomorrow, she knows they did their best. She stresses how ‘everyone’ did the their best. Mark talks of how they wanted to do something new and different for their freestyle. He’s proud of Aly and thinks she was the most improved dancer this season. Aly says she’s grown as a person, she had so much fun, and she just enjoyed herself. She’s learned to be more relaxed in front of the camera and trusts people more too.

George ask Val straight up on his eye injury. It was unsettling and it panicked everyone. Zendaya says win or lose, she did something she never thought possible by just making it to the finals.

There aren’t any Access Hollywood interviews posted yet, but, be sure to be watching this link as they may post some later. Same with ET Online.

E News interviewed Val and Zendaya. Oddly enough, Val thinks the eye injury helped his performance…..

“It was an hour before the show, so everybody panicked,” Val explained of his injury. “There were talks about replacing me, and that was not going to happen. I was just praying it was going to stop bleeding, which, thank God, it did because it’s a very deep cut.”

Zendaya recalled the scary moment during the rehearsal when her elbow hit Val’s eye, saying, “I already knew it was bad, and then he was going through dress rehearsal with blood all over his face. I just had to keep going because I know he wants me to keep going. He kept smiling, so that’s the cue to keep on going.”

Oddly enough, Val told us he believes the injury actually helped his performance. “My back is killing me. Like seriously killing me. My shoulder is killing me. [My eye] honestly took my mind off all that pain. I’m lucky it happened…It made me enjoy the moment a little more.”

More at E News including a video.

Lastly, Henry of POPTVDotCom also has some coverage of the cast going to dinner, etc. after the show. They express their thoughts and sympathies on the Oklahoma tornado and more. Emmitt Smith was there and talks to Henry too.

Stay tuned. More coming…. 😉

Derek Hough And Val Chmerkovskiy Blog About Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Finale

Pro dancers Derek Hough and Val Chmerkovskiy have both written new blogs before finale time on Dancing With The Stars. First up, Val writes of how different this finale is from last season. Last season it was bitter then sweet, but, this season is a “good time to win”. More below in detail including his thoughts (adding: or hints?) for why he should win since he’s never won a mirror ball before (this excuse for someone to win always annoys me. How would he have felt in his competition days if he was told he shouldn’t win since he won before? That’s not the way it should work. It should be about the best dancing, not who hasn’t won a mirror ball before or a win won’t mean the same in my opinion).

It’s finale time but this finale is different — completely different. Last season it was bitter, but then it became quickly sweet. I hate losing, but losing to someone like Tony (Dovolani) and Melissa (Rycroft) was a great feeling for me. That’s my brother pretty much, and I’m super happy for him to win because it was long overdue! I had no right — even just out of respect for Tony, to feel even one inch of, “Oh, it’s not fair!” I have the utmost love and appreciation for that champion.

But this season, I feel like it’s a good time. I don’t feel like it’s too early, I don’t feel like it’s too late. It’s a good time. I feel like if the stars can’t align this time, I’m not sure when they’ll align again. I know I said that last season with Kelly (Monaco) because she was incredible and we had an amazing season, but I never thought I’d be able to follow it up. Zendaya, complete polar opposite of what Kelly and I were, was able to follow up and follow it up in a very unique way.

There has never been a couple like us. This final between my three competitors – between them, they have about 30 seasons and six trophies. But when you look at Zendaya and I, you have never seen a champion like that.

If we win, the generosity and gratefulness that will be pouring out of my body at that moment will be overwhelming for everybody in the room. I will drown people in my appreciation!

More at Today.com.

As for Derek, he talks of the slow process this past week. He’s had some issues with his neck, but, he’s battling through. The freestyle is about “less is more” as he hinted to us in the On The Red Carpet interview,. Below he talks of the story about it and their other dances….

The story in our freestyle is we see Kellie as who she is. We often see the bright, fun, light and sweet Kellie — and she’s all those things. What you see is what you get with her. But there is a side to her that is very vulnerable and very fragile. The song is called “Beneath Your Beautiful” and it’s about showing it all. To show it all, you can’t hide behind anything. That’s why I against having a big production. I just wanted to try to make it about her ability and her dancing, and try to wow the audience with what she’s doing and not what’s around her. The production we have is fun though.

We have two other dances Monday and then the Instant Dance on Tuesday. The quickstep is extremely exhausting! It’s more difficult than our first one. The music is a lot more vigorous, so it’s faster all around. We got a 29 last time, but that quickstep was actually one of my least favorite dances, just because I felt like it was just a dance. The choreography was difficult, but it was more of a demonstration, like, “This is a quickstep.” This one, we want to put on more of a show and make it more of a finale quickstep. We just have to be really careful. There’s a fine line between doing too much and making it too busy.

The cha-cha relay is only 40 seconds each couple, but with everything this week, it’s kind of outrageous that we have it in the first place! I was like, “Awesome! Four couples in the final. That probably means less work for us.” Then it’s, “Nope! Just kidding! More work! Four couples and four dances each!” But we feel good about our pieces. Now we just have to execute.

I can’t wait. More at TV Guide.com. Also, don’t miss visiting Pure Derek Hough as soon as you can. Heidi has an article up about Derek wanting to expand his career beyond Dancing With The Stars. She has some birthday coverage and more too.

ETA: Also, be sure to check out On The Red Carpet. There is more coverage with these two couples with George Pennacchio.

Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Week 6 Dancer Confessionals

ABC has released the dance confessionals from Dancing With The Stars Week 6. Andy has a kiss on his cheek and messy hair under his hat! Len is Jacoby’s Grandpa. Kellie does a “shoe” dance. Too fun as always….

More Dances Revealed For DWTS Week 7, Mid-Season Party With Tom Bergeron, And More

We’ve got some interviews to share for what took place after the results show last night. First, George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet asks the cast their thoughts about Stevie Wonder and if he should dance on Dancing With The Stars (since he remarked how he’d like to dance on the show next season). George also asks the contestants about how they’ve changed the most (emotionally, physically, or mentally) after doing Dancing With The Stars. He also asks the pros how they choreograph. He finds out what he can about their dances next week too. Lot’s more below….

First up, Sharna would love to have and teach Stevie Wonder on the show! For how Andy has changed, he’s trimmed up and gotten stronger in his mind, body, and soul. When Sharna choreographs, she likes to concentrate on what looks good for Andy. Since has is a great actor and has a great personality, she tries to do things that will help bring those things out. For next week’s Rumba, Sharna gives one more hint that it is inspired by “Singing In The Rain” (perfect!). As for the immunity dance, she hopes to bring out “technique and basics” with some Cha Cha and Jive.

Mark loves Stevie Wonder and would love to have him dance on the show. He (or anyone with a disability) would need a special partner who would have patience. For how Aly has changed the most, she says “mentally”. It’s different from gymnastics and she’s learning more. Mark talks of how he comes up with choreography. He likes to find out what feels natural to his partners and how he can make it special. Aly is excited about Latin Week. Mark says it will be fun. Aly says she will be sassy (more on their new dance below in another interview).

Peta plans to get really tough with Sean this week for their new dances. They have the Rumba and they have to produce character. It’s going to be intense and be a love story. Sean plans to zone in and really focus. He hopes to be a changed dancer. Peta tries to choreograph by working on “strengths”. Sean has changed a lot physically, emotionally, and mentally. “Focusing” and dancing has been challenging. Peta would love to have Stevie Wonder on the show.

Kym says it would be so incredible if Stevie Wonder danced on the show. When Kym choreographs, she likes to concentrate on “connection” like Val. For how Ingo has changed, he picks “mentally” for how he is learning more dances every week. It’s also teaching him to be positive. Kym teases on their dance next week saying it will have “major hip action” and “look out ladies”.

Val gives a little preview for what will happen for Latin Week. As said in their last interview, they have the Paso Doble. He’s excited to teach Zendaya more technique for it. From how much she’s changed, Zendaya picks “mentally” since she’s working hard, stressed out a lot, and trying to do well. Val would love Stevie Wonder to dance on the show, but, he thinks he is “too big” (huh? why? Stevie wouldn’t be the first big guy to dance?). At the end, Zendaya compares Val and her father to “Gummy Bears”.

Below are some interviews with Access Hollywood. Mark says he and Aly have the Salsa next week! Peta again points out how important it is to step it up. Andy talks about the toughest parts about doing Dancing With The Stars so far… Read more..

Kyle Massey And Louis Van Amstel Review Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Week 4

Dancing With The Stars alum Kyle Massey joined the Good Morning America cast to review the dances from last night. He talks of why Carrie Ann got so emotional last night during Andy and Sharna’s dance. It’s hard not to get caught up in journeys and what each of the dancers go through. Dancing With The Stars is about so much more than “dancing”. He thought D.L.’s dance was legendary. He may be old school Disney, but, he thought Zendaya was amazing. He loves how Val is “edgy” like Maks. When talking about Aly and her gymnastic moves and if they were unfair to use last night, Kyle thinks it’s fair. Each couple should use the strengths they have to give them that competitive edge. He tried to use everything he could to stand out when he was on the show. You can watch this segment HERE.

Also, Louis Van Amstel has posted his review of the night at Good Morning America. Below is a take. I have to disagree with what he said about Derek and Kellie’s scoring. These two deserved nines and tens in my opinion. I agree with what he wrote about Gleb and Lisa though. Lisa needs to cancel everything and concentrate only on Dancing With The Stars. Note too that he’s picked Lisa to go home tonight….

Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough’s Rumba. This was a beautiful video package. It’s absolutely clear that Kellie is a great dancer, has a gorgeous body and is so involved in what she does, but from a Rumba point of view, I would have liked to see more flexibility and continuous motion and more Rumba timing and choreography. Sometimes it’s hard when it’s personally so sentimental to be involved in the dance. The scores are good, although I expected all eights because the judges were a little more critical of Kellie than in other weeks. I’d agree with three eights and nonetheless she’s still in the top three.

Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko’s Cha Cha. I feel so sorry for Lisa. I hope she feels better. It’s such a big message to all the celebs, that when you sign up for “DWTS,” there’s very little time for anything else. The show is exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. On the good side, Lisa looks hot and sexy, but I wish she would dance like it, too. She’s unfortunately more off time than on. What a shame. I want Lisa to do so well. If she stays in this competition she needs to work on musicality and straightening her legs. The judges are right that it looked under rehearsed. Yes, this routine started with a full-on lift. My advice to Lisa is to cancel all other jobs and appearances and totally focus on dancing. The scores are fair.

My top three for tonight are Zendaya, Aly and then Kellie. After that, Jacoby and Ingo. The rest are in the middle of the pack. I think Lisa and Gleb are going home! Many celebs do so many other jobs and appearances besides “DWTS” during the season, which is very dangerous.

The couples who focus 100 percent on dancing are the ones who make it all the way, most of the time. If you’re under rehearsed due to other jobs, then you run a risk that things will go bad and the voters at home won’t always save you, and rightly so.

You can read Louis’ full review at Good Morning America. So, what do you think? Was Louis fair this time?

Stay tuned for more. Heidi’s new Numbers post is coming soon!!! 😉 x

PureDWTS Season 16 Week 4 Media After The Dance (Videos)

What a show once again last night!! Let’s get right to the media afterwards with On The Red Carpet with George Pennacchio. He gets their reaction on their dances. He also asks on their weaknesses….

First up, Derek and Kellie. Derek starts out the interview doing some Michael Jackson beats and then he sings. They are happy about last night’s dance. Then they get serious and Kellie talks of what last night’s dance meant to her. Of her weaknesses, Derek says it’s her nerves which he hopes he can work on.

George praises Val for his youth appropriate choreography. Val knows Zendaya is pretty…but, he wants more for her when she dances like passion which is appropriate for any age versus romance. They are happy with the judges comments and are glad they understand what they are trying to do. Val says Zendaya’s weakness is himself. He feels it’s up to him to come up with good choreography and present her right. She’s just happy she’s learning and growing….and she’s having a good time.

I can’t get the video to work for Jacoby and Karina at this time. Hopefully, you can?

George tells Andy he’s never seen Carrie Ann break down the way she did last night. Andy is happy. If this was their last dance, he is glad they did something so “meaningful”. It meant so much. When asked on Andy’s weaknesses, Sharna says it’s his technique. At the top of his form is the performance factor and the love for it all.

Kym is so proud of Ingo!! She loved how his wife cried after their dance. They are glad the judges liked their dance. Ingo talks of some of the imperfections he had, but, he loved their dance and how much it meant to him and his wife. Ingo says his biggest weaknesses is Read more..

DWTS16 Week 2 Media After The Elimination, More Dances Revealed For Week 3!

Last night after the results show, some of the our couples from Dancing With The Stars were interviewed by George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet. He asks them straight up about week 3….

First up, Andy and Sharna!! They have the Cha Cha for week 3!! Andy said Sharna introduced him to it a little in the beginning and he had a hard time with it. Sharna says they have a difficult week and more hours of practicing ahead, but, (and here’s the fun part and key for him in my opinion), she’s got another fun character for Andy to play. It won’t be your average prom story. It will be about a boy’s fantasy of the ideal woman. Andy also talks of the bond he formed with Dorothy and was sad to see her go.

Gleb and Lisa!! George didn’t get much out of these two. Lisa talks of how hard it was to see Dorothy leave last night. Gleb mentions they may need more props and special effects and that we will have to wait until next week to see what they do.

D.L. hopes to improve again for Week 3 and to have more fun! His schedule has been exhausting, but, he is ready and excited to still dance and thankful to still be on the show. He has nothing, but, good things to say about Dorothy. He was proud of her.

Sean and Peta have a Cha Cha next week! Peta says they will be bringing the crazy and fun and refined steps. Sean’s schedule is tight, but, they work around it.

Victor and Lindsay hope to step it up and work even harder! George reminds them they can still do it like Kelly Monaco did. Lindsay puts her foot down and won’t let Victor be negative. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 16 Dorothy Hamill And Tristan MacManus Early Departure Media

I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house last night on Dancing With The Stars when Dorothy Hamill announced she had to step out because of her injury!! She mentioned that maybe she could come back in the future? I wonder if TPTB could explore this possibility? What a beautiful lady and soul. Just like in the 70’s on the ice rink, Dorothy swooped into the dance floor to touch our hearts and, what’s more, with class, elegance, grace, and charm. Thank you Dorothy Hamill!! You will always be an Ice Princess as well as a Dance Princess too in so many of our eyes!!! Below is she and Tristan with On The Red Carpet, Access Hollywood, and ET Online after the show last night talking more on her departure. The cast has a few things to say about Dorothy and Tristan in the ET Online video as well. Stay tuned. If there is more on these two (Good Morning America?), we will be sure to add it to this post…

UPDATE: Dorothy and Tristan weren’t on GMA this morning, but, Victor, Lindsay, Gleb, and Lisa weigh in on her departure. You can watch it HERE.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
