DWTS All Stars, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Week 2 – the Jive and the Quickstep. Normally, if you had the Foxtrot in Week 1, you have the Jive in week 2. If you had the Cha Cha Cha you are dancing the Quickstep. That appears to be holding true for this season as well. 🙂 There’s at least one, probably two train wrecks in this bunch…most of you can guess the first one. 🙂

Please note: these are not in any kind of order yet. The post will be updated through the day tomorrow with running order and songs, if we have them.

ETA: Almost forgot that Gilles and Mark spoiled their own songs so I might as well add them now.

ETA2: Shawn got a great song…but Black Betty? I guess that is a good quickstep song. Trying to visualize….

ETA3: A good choreographer could do something very interesting with Melissa’s song. Question is…can Tony??

ETA4: Melissa going first…a good shakeup to the dance order?? We’ll see.

ETA5: Dance Dance??? Oh boy.

ETA6: What a shock – an ABC employee gets the second best spot.

ETA7: And ANOTHER ABC employee in the pimp spot. Predictable. Maybe Apolo and Shawn are running away with it.

ETA8: If I’m wrong about where I guessed Bristol and Shawn are, I’m going to be PISSED, whether running order matters or not. Two weeks in a row in the worst position?? The shaft.

ETA9: Whew! I was right. I don’t like being pissed off. Louis says in his blog, which Vogue is posting soon, that Bristol is dancing second.  Thanks to teichka for the heads up on that.

ETA10: A few last minute song spoilers…sort of.  Turns out Joey is actually dancing to a big-band style cover Radiohead’s “Creep” done by a comedian named Richard Cheese…whose name I already like 😉 I know, Radiohead doesn’t exactly conjure up thoughts of lively, happy jumping & hopping characteristic of quickstep, but I actually think this version works REALLY well for quickstep.  Sort of genius on Joey’s part 😎 As for Kirstie, all we know is that her song is entirely in French – and that Maks has her playing the character of a French prostitute.  Knowing just that, I already think her jive has the potential to be all kinds of WIN.  😉 -Court-

DWTS All Stars Week 2: One Hour Special, Performers, And Other Details Announced

According to Zap2It, there will be a one hour special before the results show on Tuesday where “the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons” and then the All Stars “will recount and comment on selected routines”. As previously reported, Katherine Jenkins will be performing and her special guest is ….Plácido Domingo. Note how Cher Lloyd will be performing as well. Lacey and Benji Schwimmer, the troupe, and more will be dancing in a teaser for Week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night”.

“Episode 1502 & 1502A” – Monday’s performance show showcases the remaining 12 All-Star couples dancing either the Jive or the Quickstep, live, MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In a one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars — Defining Dances,” airing TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons, ultimately defining the winning attributes that each All-Star demonstrated in these performances. The All-Stars will recount and comment on their mindsets during these selected routines. Following the special, the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results Show” on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) will feature Katherine Jenkins, last season’s finalist and classical singer, who returns to the ballroom as a special musical guest. She will be taking the stage with Plácido Domingo, performing “Come What May,” featured on Domingo’s new album, “Songs,” out October 16th. Their stunning duet will be accompanied by pro dancers Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya. Also taking to the “Dancing with the Stars” stage is 19 year-old pop powerhouse Cher Lloyd, performing her hit single, “Want You Back.” Her latest album, “Sticks + Stones,” releases October 2nd.

Tuesday night’s exciting lineup continues with the season’s first “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance, a futuristic standoff featuring some of the world’s most talented dancers battling for dance floor supremacy. The performance is choreographed by Shannon Mather, spotlighting Blake McGrath, Ian Eastwood and Tyne Stecklein leading their groups in an epic performance. We will also tease week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night” with a medley of iconic routines from seasons past, performed by The Troupe as well as talented dancers Anya Garnis, Jaymz Tuaileva, Lacey and Benji Schwimmer. And before night’s end, the second couple of the season will be eliminated.

DWTS Make-Up Releases Photos, Which Costumes Were Your Favorite From Week One?

Dancing With The Stars Make-Up has released some fun takes of the cast “behind the scenes” preparing for the premiere. Below is Kym Johnson and Karina Smirnoff. You can view more pics at the link as well as descriptions for how they did their make-up. Keep checking the link. They may add more pics. So, from all the couples, who looked or wowed you the most with their costuming? Who could use improvement? I have to give it to Maks and Kirstie. The color of her Fox Trot gown was a stunner and looked beautiful on her. For improvement, I’m going to say Drew and Anna. The gray and lighter blues were beautiful, but, they were also “forgettable”. I hope they come out next week with something more showstopping and dominant in color and style.

Dancing With The Stars Season 15: Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 2

The odds makers are placing their bets again for who will win the Dancing With The Stars All Stars at Sports Bovada. As you can see, they’ve got Emmitt and Apolo neck in neck in first and second place. They’ve put Melissa and Bristol tied for last…

Emmitt Smith 3/2
Apolo Anton Ono 7/2
Gilles Marini 11/2
Helio Castroneves 11/2
Shawn Johnson 8/1
Joey Fatone 15/1
Kelly Monaco 20/1
Kirstie Alley 20/1
Sabrina Bryan 25/1
Drew Lachey 30/1
Bristol Palin 50/1
Melissa Rycroft 50/1

So, do the odds makers have it right or wrong?

In my opinion, they probably have it right on the top two currently, but, they are under estimating Shawn Johnson. She should be higher, while Helio should be lower. I also think they are totally wrong for putting Melissa Rycroft in last place. I think she should be placed in the middle somewhere. I also think Kelly is going to make a strong showing and should be placed higher. Let’s get Miss Heidi’s and Court’s thoughts and be sure to tell us what you think in the comment section too.

Heidi: Totally don’t buy Emmitt in the winning position. I don’t think he’s got that kind of juice. I still think this is going to come down to Apolo, Gilles and Shawn, with Apolo winning. That said…Gilles could find himself replaced with Emmitt if he doesn’t lighten up. While he is beautiful to look at, I’m not finding him charming or fun this season AT ALL.  And as William Levy can tell you, good looks are only good for third place in a regular season. In this one?? Maybe not so much. Lucky for him he’s likely going to get some “help” since he’s a card carrying member of the ABC family. Literally. 🙂  The bottom?? I’m thinking it should be Bristol and Drew, but the reality probably IS Drew and Melissa.  If they keep doing a real bottom two, we’ll soon find out. 🙂

Courtney: I’m not convinced at this point that Emmitt is gonna walk away with that trophy – and definitely not with odds that good. I don’t think one good dance in week one is indicative of much right now, considering that most of the couples did pretty well – aside from Pam, no one really did terribly this week.  I’m waiting for a dance like to jive to come along so we can really see what Emmitt’s made of – we know he’s got a great personality, now the question is: can he hang with the youngin’s? Because he is one of the older contestants this season, and like Kirstie, I think he may struggle with endurance.  Still puzzled as to why they have Helio so high.  I would put Apolo & Gilles at about even odds right now, but if Gilles’ whining about injuries, phone numbers, etc. continues, I would expect Apolo to begin to edge him out.  And really & truly, at this point I’d put Drew at the bottom – because he clearly is lacking in the votes department, and I’m not so sure that’s going to improve in the coming week.

Carrie Anne Inaba Breaks Down Dancing With The Stars Premiere Night (Blog, Videos)

Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Anne Inaba talked about breaking off of her engagement on Access Hollywood. She also breaks down some of the dances from the first week of the show. She was sad to see Pamela go and thinks she’s “magical”. She was a little underwhelmed by Helio and Apolo’s performances, but, she thinks they can make some great transformations. Much more below…though warning, Kit and Billy ask some annoying questions. I sometimes wonder if they even watch the show and instead just play off media headlines? 😕

Carrie Anne was also on Extra last night. If we find some footage, we’ll be sure to post it. She breaks down the first show at her new blog at Ladies Home Journal as well. Below is a take of her favorite moments from Monday night…

Here are some of my personal favorite moments from the season 15 opener:
•When Tom cut me off mid-comment because the audio went out I had to explain that I had more to say so our audience wouldn’t be confused. He just won an Emmy so I’ll give him a break.
•When Helio Castroneves came into the ballroom during the commercial break, he got a standing ovation. He’s got such a bright light in him—he’s like a walking smile and it was so wonderful to see him out there again on our dance floor.
•When Shawn Johnson danced a very modern Foxtrot with Derek. It’s a new partnership but a very dynamic one.
•When Gilles did his Foxtrot with Peta. Again, another new pairing and a very sexy one indeed—just ask any of the women in our audience. He’s like a dancing Jon Hamm or Clark Gable.
•Seeing Drew Lachey and Kelly Monaco again was a lot of fun. I directed the first Dancing With The Stars live tour so I worked closely with Drew. It’s like seeing your family again, except you have to judge their dancing.
•It’s always something of a magical moment to see Pamela Anderson on the dance floor. She really is an icon. I hope she puts more time into her rehearsals. It think a lot of people like her but she’s got to catch up.
•And then there was Emmitt. It felt like the season finale—a huge celebration of dance.

When you watch them all dance you remember very quickly why some of them won and the magic they all brought to the dance floor. But they do have very different styles and attributes which is what makes this season so dynamic. And let me say that without a doubt, it’s going to get very competitive in the ballroom very soon, so be warned! This season is going to be a good one!

Interviews After DWTS 15 Week One Elimination, Dances Revealed For Week 2

The couples talked about their first elimination last night with On The Red Carpet. They also spoke of what happens from here and what their dances are for next week.

First up, Bristol and Mark were relieved they weren’t eliminated. Bristol has met her first goal. They don’t say exactly what dance they have (Quickstep or Jive?), but, Bristol is obsessed with the next song they are dancing to. It’s her “anthem”. She sings it every day. “It will surprise you”, Bristol says.

Tony and Melissa! They are so happy they made it to the next round. Tony plans to be harder on himself than ever before. They are going to put their whole heart into this season. They have the Jive next week which Melissa didn’t do the first time she danced on Dancing With The Stars.

George asks Joey on his new cooking show. They have the Quickstep. They love their song and routine. On their song, “The younger kids will get it”, Joey says. He sends some smack to Derek and Shawn.

Speaking of Derek and Shawn….they plan to have a “wild” time of it. Shawn is a “Party animal”. LOL! You can read and see more of these two at Pure Derek Hough including what their next dance will be.

Dancing with the Stars Season 15, Week 1 – Dancing by the Numbers

All in all, a great start to the All Star season!! A whole bunch of fantastic dancing, with few exceptions, no doubt. And yet…we still have a couple instances of really hinky scoring and other hijinks. So, we’ll give Shawn and Kirstie extremely bad songs for foxtrots, give Gilles and other men PERFECT songs and then we’ll be extra sure and not only pimp Emmett, but overscore him as well. I love Gilles and think he was overscored relative to the other couples, but Emmett?? I smell fish. I’ll just echo Courtney and add…Gilles works for ABC, and Emmett is a football player scoring high on MONDAY Night. The female football audience?? Yeah, that’s not suspicious at all. :::rolls eyes:::

But, after all my moaning….those scores are essentially irrelevant because the exactly wrong person was the low scorer and by a significant margin. Anyway…

The Judges Scores and Percentages

As you probably deduced all on your own, Pam and Tristan are in real trouble. The judges were absolutely right when they called her out on her lack of preparation – seems clear they are paying attention to studio time this season, like they have occasionally in the past, and it’s going to be noted if you don’t do well AND you weren’t putting in the time. It’s the All Star Season. It’s to be expected.

Anyway, what does Pam have to do in order to survive to dance again? Pray. And hope that someone else (Drew? Helio?) is completely forgotten. In terms of votes she needs to do ONE of the following in order to be safe:

–          Pam has to get 7,340 more votes per million votes cast than Kirstie, OR;

–          She needs to get 9,050 more votes per million votes cast than Bristol, OR;

–          She needs to get 12,660 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, OR;

–          She needs to get 14,470 more votes per million votes cast than Melissa, OR,

–          She needs to get 16,280 more votes per million votes cast than either Drew, Helio or Kelly, OR;

–          She needs to get 18,100 more votes per million votes cast than either Shawn or Apolo

I could go on but I won’t. You get the picture. The only one of these that I could see happening is Melissa or Helio…with an outside shot of Drew.  I don’t think that Pam has the juice to get past either Bristol or Kirstie….or Joey….but I’m going to say right now that Melissa and Helio could be surprises. If there is such a thing as a surprise elimination this season.

Anyway, let’s say that by some miracle (and crazy Tristan fans 🙂 ) Pam survives.  Kirstie is the next lowest scorer. In order to stay in the event that Pam gets past her, she would need the ONE of the following:

–          Kirstie  has to get 1,810 more votes per million votes cast than Bristol, OR;

–          She needs to get  5,430 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, OR;

–          She needs to get 7,240 more votes per million votes cast than Melissa, OR,

–          She needs to get 9,050 more votes per million votes cast than either Drew, Helio or Kelly

Yeah, I think she can do all that easily. I don’t think she’s in trouble. Bristol? Needs ONE of the following to happen if both Kirstie and Bristol survive:

–          Bristol needs to get  3,620 more votes per million votes cast than Joey, OR;

–          She needs to get 5,430 more votes per million votes cast than Melissa, OR,

–          She needs to get 7,240 more votes per million votes cast than either Drew, Helio or Kelly

This is where I’m less sure. I don’t know if Bristol has it this season like she did in her original season. These are the all stars!!

I could go on and on, but at the end of the day, I think Pam is going home.  If there’s a shock, I think it will be Melissa.   If there is a real surprise that I don’t discuss here, I’ll do a numbers wrap up. 🙂
