DWTS Season 14 Week 3 Predicted Scores

This is when things get kind of dicey when it comes to predicted scores. Keeping in mind that I am only taking scores from the first four weeks of any given season as a basis of calculations for predicted scoring, you start to find holes in the data. For example: Chelsie Hightower has been had a partner that she has had to work on the Samba with in the first four weeks of any season (whether it’s because they never last that long or luck of the draw).

GAVIN DEGRAW
Dance: Rumba
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.773
– Occupation: 23.000
– Professional Partner: 21.000
Predicted Score / Rank: 22 / 7th
Comments: On paper, this is the dance that could help Gavin break out from the lower pack. The other celebs who were singers and in their 30s did really well with the Rumba (Season 9’s Mya w/ Dmitry Chaplin got a 27 and Season 11’s Brandy w/ Maksim Chmerkovskiy got a 24) so Gavin has quite the shoes (or in the case the heels) to fill. To me, a 22 doesn’t seem all that low.

DONALD DRIVER
Dance: Rumba
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.773
– Occupation: 19.500
– Professional Partner: N/A
Predicted Score / Rank: 21 / 9th
Comments: Unfortunately, since Peta hasn’t been on the show long enough, there isn’t much data to work from. In the meantime what I’m curious about is how other NFL players in their 30s have coped with the Rumba in the past. Apparently, not that well: Season 10’s Chad Ochocinco w/ Cheryl Burke got a 22 while Season 11’s Kurt Warner w/ Anna Trebunskaya got a 17. So how is Donald going to fare with the Rumba? I think a 21 is rather middle of the road, it might be off by a point or two though.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

DWTS Season 14, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What…and when?

Ah, the week of a thousand rumbas. 🙂 Throw in a waltz and you have a whole bunch of slow dances, two sambas, a salsa and a jive. It’s gonna be a weird night.

ETA: William dancing 10th – Gee, that’s a shock. :::rolls eyes::: When will the pimpage end?? Who will be the lucky number 11? Katherine, Roshon or Jaleel. I bet Roshon, since they put him in jeopardy last week, he’s dancing to MJ, and most importantly – he works for Disney.  Although you wouldn’t think they would put two of their quicker dances right next to each other.

ETA 2: Thank god, it appears Donald is going last.

ETA 3: Katherine’s dancing 6th…for the 2nd week in a row.  Iiiinteresting. So now our 3 key running order positions have been filled…wonder who will end up in the “positions of doom”? -Court-

ETA 4: Melissa appears to be in the clear – she’s dancing 8th.  This could be a good thing for her.  -Court-

ETA 5: Maria’s got one of the “doom” positions, but I doubt it matters too much for her – somebody’s gotta go 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, and good/popular dancers are inevitably going to end up there at some point.  Plus I think they’re trying to space out all the rumbas 🙂 -Court-

ETA 6: The trend of back-to-back Chmerkovskiys continues…why? Idk…I guess TPTB seem to think they’re conjoined twins or something…

ETA 7: And the trend of pimping Roshon seems to be over…

Jack and Anna – Samba, Dancing 1st (Song: one of his. 🙂 )
Voting # 1-800-868-3402

Maria and Derek – Rumba (Dancing 2nd)
Voting # 1-800-868-3401

Gavin and Karina – Rumba
Voting # 1-800-868-3404

Roshon and Chelsie – Samba (Dancing 4th)
Voting # 1-800-868-3405

Gladys and Tristan – Foxtrot
Voting # 1-800-868-3411

Katherine and Mark – Slow Waltz (Dancing 6th)
Voting # 1-800-868-3410

Sherri and Val – Rumba (Dancing 7th)
Voting # 1-800-868-3406

Melissa and Maks – Jive (Dancing 8th)
Voting # 1-800-868-3407

Jaleel and Kym – Rumba
Voting # 1-800-868-3412

William and Cheryl – Salsa (Dancing 10th)
Voting # 1-800-868-3408

Donald and Peta – Rumba Dancing 11th (Fairly sure – hard to read his tweets)
Voting # 1-800-868-3403

I can’t help but think that Melissa is going to be in trouble with that Jive, and that William and Katherine are sitting pretty with the Salsa and Waltz, respectively. Roshon should be in good shape unless he gets too casual, and Jack? I dunno. I hope it goes well. The rumbas?? We might be in for a surprise there. That’s one dance that is harder than it looks.

In other news, Derek has dyed his hair brown and is apparently letting it grow. I will figure out a reward for the first person to figure out why. 🙂 Last time he dyed it, it was for a movie. Inquiring minds and web site owners want to know. 😉

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. GMA Notice And Entertainment Announced For Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Week 3

According to ABC Medianet, the entertainment for Tuesday night’s results show is Grammy Award winning music artist Seal and Country Group Rascal Flatts. Also on tap is a “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance which will include Kenny Wormald, Twitch, and Travis Wall and more. There will be “AT& T Spotlight Performance” with Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya. Below are more fun details. Note how Tony Dovolani will be back to dance as well…

“Episode 1403 & 1403 A” – This week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” themed “The Most Memorable Year of My Life,” challenges the remaining eleven couples to perform a meaningful dance using any style dance of their choice, MONDAY, APRIL 2 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

On Tuesday, acclaimed singer and songwriter Seal returns to the ballroom performing “Lean On Me” from his latest album “Soul 2.” His soulful performance will be accompanied by four members of the Troupe. Also hitting the stage is best-selling country vocal group, Rascal Flatts, with a network TV debut performance of “Changed,” the title of their new album due out April 3rd. Their performance is accompanied by pro dancer Tony Dovolani and Troupe member Sharna Burgess on TUESDAY, APRIL 3 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Also during Tuesday’s show we have the season’s first “Macy’s Stars of Dance,” with an all- star dance number featuring some of Hollywood’s most prominent and talented male dancers from film and TV, including Kenny Wormald (“Footloose”), Twitch (“Step Up 3D” and “Step Up 4”), Travis Wall and many others. The exciting performance will be accompanied by one of the worlds most sought after horn trios, Grooveline Horns, who will be performing their composition “Copchase.” This spectacular performance is choreographed by Misha Gabriel and Nick Bass who’ve shared the stage and screen with artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Britney Spears, Beyonce and many more. Tuesday’s show also welcomes the season’s first “AT&T Spotlight Performance” which will feature Julia Ivleva’s inspirational story. Julia is a world-class professional ballroom dancer who has recently been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Her good friends Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya will be dancing a powerfully emotional number in a special tribute to Julia and the fight against cancer.

Also from ABC Medianet, Good Morning America will have a special segment for Dancing With The Stars for “all the behind-the-scenes secrets”. Not sure, but, this might be why Katie Couric was at the show last Monday night as we reported to you here last night. So be sure to watch Good Morning America on Monday. We’ll be sure to post the footage as soon as we can as well.

Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Las Vegas Odds For March 29th

I’m off on a road trip today, but, I wanted to get some Las Vegas Odds up before I go for Dancing With The Stars leading up into week 3. Once again, what a difference the odds can make after another week of dances. Last week, the odds makers pegged it for Martina (sadly). They continue to put William Levy in first place and now Gavin DeGraw is in last place (no shocker there). Gladys Knight, Sherri Shepherd, Jack Wagner, and Melissa Gilbert aren’t too far behind. There has been a little switching around in the middle.

William Levy 2/1
Donald Driver 4/1
Katherine Jenkins 4/1
Jaleel White 9/2
Roshon Fegan 8/1
Maria Menounos 8/1
Melissa Gilbert 20/1
Jack Wagner 25/1
Sherri Shepherd 30/1
Gladys Knight 30/1
Gavin DeGraw 50/1

I’m still shocked they keep putting Sherri so low. I think they are underestimating Gladys’ fan base too (as well as Tristan’s). I also think it’s a mistake not to put Maria and Roshon higher? Let’s get Heidi and Court’s thoughts and be sure to tell us your thoughts too in the comments section.

Heidi: A different week, a similar story.  Really, think about this. If the hard core fans are getting ticked off at the pimping of William and their favorite gets voted off, what do you think they’re going to do? I’ll tell you what I’ll do and and that is vote like HELL for whoever is left that is better than William, be it Katherine or Jaleel or whoever.  Now, this likely plays into the TPTB plans…I’m sure they get revenue from the hits…the only reason William is being pimped is for ratings (which have fallen by 30% over last spring, but that’s a different post) and I’m a firm believer in them not caring who wins as long as the supposed ratings grabbers go a long way.  But I have to wonder…is he really a ratings grabber or is that totally manufactured by them without them realizing it??  They are so involved in the pimping that maybe the audience is leading them to believe it’s working.  I’ve been in studio audiences before and people get warmed up and jazzed up and encouraged to scream, yell and applaud.  So, I wonder.  I wonder if it’s translating to votes, because the way they are acting, I kinda doubt it.  But we’ll see – you don’t need votes if the judges have their heads up your ass. 🙂  Just ask Bristol Palin.

Courtney: The odds irritate me…and like will continue to do so, until the pimping of William ceases or he’s voted off.  I don’t for a minute see him with odds that good to win the MBT – even WITH the ridiculous pimping going on.  The fans have already caught on to that nonsense, and seem to also be getting kinda fed up with it.  This will reach a point when it backfires – and by that point, it won’t matter if William’s a legitimately good dancer or not. But whatever, oddsmakers, go ahead and buy into the artificially-created hype…for now.  I’m still puzzled as to how they’re getting such high odds for Donald – don’t get me wrong, I love the guy and I think he could be a dark horse later this season; but so far, just 2 weeks in, I haven’t seen anything big that has made me think “Wow, this guy is headed straight to the finale!” He’s trying hard, but he’s not at “contender” status yet…at least for me.  *sigh* And apparently Jack’s not only not getting any love from the judges, but now the oddsmakers, too  – really??? Melissa’s got a better chance than Jack? Not so sure about that one…then again, if the judges continue to give him a hard time, I could see it happening.  Beyond that, I guess I kinda sorta agree with the rest of the odds…guess I’m already getting a bit “whatever” at  them, and it’s not even week 3 yet 😛

Dancing With The Stars 14 On To Week Three Media, Dance Hints Revealed, And More (Videos)

We’ve got some relieved couples who weren’t eliminated from Dancing With The Stars last night. George Pennacchio from On The Red Carpet was there to get their thoughts and reactions after the show. He gets them to reveal some hints for what they will be dancing for week 3. He also asks him what style of dance they’d dance where they’d receive three “10’s”. Interesting questions as always. You can tell he’s a die hard fan like us wanting to know as much as he can. lol

First up, Peta and Donald mention having some hidden surprises and secret weapons planned for their future dances. Next week’s dance will be “emotional” and that’s all they will say.

Gladys and Tristan want a dance competition where no one is eliminated. Tristan says he “thinks” they have the Fox Trot next week, but, he’s not sure. Tristan says if Gladys could do a Twist to “mashed potatoes”, she would get all “10’s”. She has some touching words for Martina too since they go way back.

Melissa was so relieved when she was called safe. Maks remarks at how fast the competition is going so far. They aren’t sure on what emotional story in her life they will dance to next week. Melissa said she’d pick Hip Hop to try and get 3 “10’s”.

Jack would pick “White men have rhythm too” if he could pick a dance to receive three “10’s”. They have some kind words for Martina. For next week, they have the Samba and they hope to “wow” us.

SPOILERS!!! DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – The First Elimination

…is the unkindest cut of all. I always put in a bit of blather here so we don’t spoil those on twitter – even though I’m a firm believe that if you don’t want to know the results, get off the damn computer. 🙂

Anyway, our first elimination is Martina and Tony

Our mini scorecard reads as follows:

Courtney: Called Martina going home, with a slight possibility of it being Gavin

Heidi: Called Martina going home with a possibility of Gavin

John: Called Martina going home.

They did a real bottom two tonight for the first time since they wanted David Arquette to stick around. Odd choice tonight, I think. What do they have invested in Gavin??
