Last night before, during, and after the taping of the Dancing With The Stars Anniversary Special, many of the pros and celebs who attended or performed posted Instagrams and Twitter pics. Below are a just a few of them. The source is credited in the photos. Isn’t the stage beautiful? What a night! Don’t forget, we’ll be able to watch the Dancing With The Stars Anniversary Special next week on Tuesday, April 28th.

Last night after the taping of the Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary Special, there was a party at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood, California. There are lots of fun faces from the past. To see a big gallery of photos (sorry, I can’t embed them so they will show up for some reason), see Getty Images here and here.
The Daily Mail has some awesome coverage as well.

For more information, see Court’s “PureDWTS 10th Anniversary Special – Who Do You Hope to See Back?” post. She did such an outstanding job. #LetsGetThisPartyStarted
The pop culture phenomenon that has brought ballroom dancing and beyond to living rooms across America for the past decade celebrates with a star-studded spectacular, on “Dancing with the Stars: 10th Anniversary Special,” TUESDAY APRIL 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network. The extraordinary episode will be filled with show-stopping performances featuring past and present “Dancing with the Stars” cast members and pro dancers plus a look back at fan-favorite moments from the past 20 seasons. Viewers can expect to see exciting new routines, with everything from an NFL football player ensemble to a “bromance” dance. Trading in their cleats for dance shoes, Superbowl Champions Donald Driver, Hines Ward, Kurt Warner, Jacoby Jones, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice will perform a Latin Paso Doble with Karina Smirnoff, Emma Slater and Anna Trebunskaya. Throughout the night, nine Mirrorball winners will take the stage, including a dance showdown between season 18 winners Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and reigning champions Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson. After much speculation (and a lot of questions!) we now know that the 10th Anniversary Special is taping this coming Tuesday, April 21, and will air on April 28 May 7 (or May 14, depending on who you ask). What we aren’t so positive on is who will be returning to dance – Deep Throat has confirmed that Kelly & Alfonso will be participating, and thanks to Claire for the heads-up on this interesting post to Emmitt’s charity auction. So who else might we see? And who do we Pure girls want to see? Read on…
ETA1: Ok, got some new info that clarifies the format of the anniversary special a bit. Apparently the list of returning celebs is MASSIVE; HOWEVER – not everyone returning is going to be performing individually. Most of them are going to be performing in groups, and they’re doing brand new dances. For example – a bunch of the NFL players are going to be performing together (squeeeee!!!) and so far, it’s definitely going to be Emmitt, Kurt Warner, Jacoby, and Donald…and there may be more 😀 Not gonna lie – about crashed my car when I got that text from Deep Throat. I would guess that their respective pros are going to be performing with them. Now with that knowledge under our belts, I’m guessing that Kristi, Katherine (yes, I know she’s pregnant, but she’s on the list), Chelsea, and Sadie may be performing as a group with Mark. As far as Deep Throat knows right now, the only couples dancing individually are Kelly & Val, Alfonso & Witney, and Meryl & Maks.
ETA2: Guess I need to clarify a few things so that this post does not become a royal pain in my ass 🙂 First: I HAVE INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, FACEBOOK, ETC. TOO. If Melissa & Tony confirm they’re in, I will see it, and I will get around to posting it WHEN I’M NO LONGER ASLEEP. Repeatedly tweeting me and commenting here will not make it go any faster. Second: I mentioned above that the list of returning celebs is HUGE. The list below isn’t comprehensive, it was just what DT could remember off the top of his/her head. There is NO USE in getting bent outta shape about your favorite not being included (yet) – there is definitely more that what we have here. BREATHE. Three: some of you have tweeted me with some pretty flimsy findings that supposedly confirm that so-and-so is in or whatnot. Unless a celeb states “I’m going to be on the anniversary special” or I get confirmation from Deep Throat, they’re not going on the “confirmed” list. I added a new section for “random chatter” where I might post things like that, if I find them relevant. Fourth: Don’t be that annoying person that continually DM’s myself, Heidi, Vogue, or John begging to know if [insert celeb or pro here] is coming back for the special. All we know right now is posted here, and we’ll share more if we hear more. Fifth: hearing conflicting reports about when the special is airing – it’s either the 7th or 14th. At this point, all I care is that it’s NOT THIS WEEK…
ETA3: More names confirmed for the big NFL players group dance. Also: Anna will be performing in it, so she is back.
ETA4: Per Deep Throat, 3 of Derek’s former partners and 3 of Mark’s former partners are all dancing together (with Derek & Mark) in a “bromance”-themed dance. Sadie may have an individual dance.
ETA5: In yet another scheduling shakeup, Anniversary Special will now air next Tuesday, Apr. 28; first results show is pushed to the following Tuesday, May 5. Single elim in week 7; double elim moved to week 8. Discuss.
Confirmed for 10th Anniversary Special:
Kelly Monaco & Val (season 15 All-Stars, 3rd place) – doing their paso doble and/or their surfer flamenco
Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney (season 19 champions) – doing their salsa
Meryl Davis & Maks (season 18 champions) – some individual dance
Emmitt Smith (season 3 champion) – NFL player group dance
Jacoby Jones (season 16, 3rd place) – NFL player group dance
Kurt Warner (season 11, 5th place) – NFL player group dance
Donald Driver (season 14 champion) – NFL player group dance
Jerry Rice (season 2 runner-up) – NFL player group dance
Michael Irvin (season 9, 7th place) – NFL player group dance
Hines Ward (season 12 champion) – NFL player group dance
Chelsea Kane (season 12, 3rd place) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Kristi Yamaguchi (season 6 champion) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Katherine Jenkins (season 14 runner-up) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Sadie Robertson (season 19 runner-up) – individual dance (?)
Maria Menounos (season 14, 4th place) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Amber Riley (season 16 champion) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Amy Purdy (season 18 runner-up) – Derek/Mark “bromance” group dance
Chelsie Hightower – not sure who she’s dancing with or what they’re doing, but she confirmed she’ll be back
Anna Trebunskaya – dancing in the NFL players group dance (and possibly others)
Melissa Rycroft & Tony (season 8, 3rd place; season 15 All-Stars champions) – Tony confirmed on Instagram; I’m guessing they’re doing an individual dance
Confirmed as not involved:
Shawn Johnson (season 8 champion, season 15 All-Stars runner-up) – knee injury
Zendaya (season 16 runner-up) – had other commitments in NYC, per her mom
Random chatter – take with a grain of salt:
Bill Engvall – tweeted this the other day – see Emma’s response further down
Margaret Cho – could be her in the background of this Instagram pic posted by Allison
Janel Parrish – will be at the show – but unclear if she’s actually dancing or will just be in the audience Read more..
Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.
First, I want to give Vogue complete credit for the idea, because she has started a flashback Friday post over on PDH.
Since Season 20 will be a big 10 year anniversary for DWTS, I thought it would be a nice idea to take the time to look back on each of the past seasons, and see and discuss how the show evolved. We’ll do one season a week, and one dance from each of the contestants. If possible, I’ll try to find a pro dance from the season.
So here we are!
SEASON ONE premiered June 1, 2005 and ran for 6 weeks. with 6 stars competing. Harold Wheeler Orchestra and his singers provided the music, and we had 3 judges, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Tom Bergeron was our host, and his co-host number one was Lisa Canning.
TRISTA SUTTER and LOUIS VAN AMSTEL was the first couple eliminated on DWTS. They danced a waltz and a rumba, and left the show on June 8, 2005. Here’s their waltz.
EVANDER HOLYFIELD and EDYTA SLIWINSKA was the second couple eliminated, on June 15, 2005. They danced a cha cha, quickstep and a jive. Here’s their quickstep. Read more..
Ok, you’ve made your selections in our first round in the “Battle of the 3rd Place Finishers! Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas, Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy won! Now it’s time to VOTE and determine who is the final winning couple from the three! VOTE in the new poll below and then let us know who you voted for in comments. Thanks All!!

All the talk about freestyles actually had me go back and watch quite a few of the winners and losers to see what the couples have to live up to on Monday. It’s a rather daunting task, to create one that is really good and, just as important, MEMORABLE. If you subscribe to the Derek Hough school of thought, you want it to be remembered more than you want the MBT. Which of the couples will manage that Monday night?? A couple of them have really good track records, for sure. 🙂
Season 1 – it’s rather shocking to watch season 1’s freestyles and remember that they did ACTUAL ballroom. You’ll note that once the Hough Ballas Crowd came along, the bar on the freestyles rose considerably. This one was not bad, considering the time frame, but there were a lot of mis-steps in it. Pay particular attention to the judges and how mellow they are and non-dramatic. This was before they became invested in being the stars of the show. Read more..
I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
Good Monday All! How are you and are you anxious for the new season of Dancing With The Stars to start yet?
Just a few media things to share today. First up, according to this tweet Carrie Ann Inaba will be returning as a judge for the new season of Dancing With The Stars. I’m not sure what to think. I’m ready for some new blood in this area especially in Carrie Ann’s and Len’s spot, but, hey.
For those of you asking..Yes, It's official, I'm coming back as a judge this season. 🙂 Season 17 here we come! #DWTS

Dance pros Karina Smirnoff and Maks Chmerkovskiy continue to make waves in the Broadway world in “Forever Tango”. There are some raving reviews out there and some not so raving reviews out there. To read and see some awesome photos, see these links….
“The show is called Forever Tango, and they weren’t kidding with that title….” via Hollywood Reporter Thanks to Miss Heidi for this one)
Lastly, there was a beach party over the weekend in which some of our dance pros and past contestants from Dancing With The Stars attended. You can see some cool pics of Cheryl Burke, Kelly Monaco, Chelsie Hightower, Mark Ballas, Peta Murgatroyd and more at the Daily Mail and Zimbio Pictures. Derek Hough was in attendance too. See Pure Derek Hough for some fun pictures of him.
And that is all for now. More later …I hope. xxx
ADDING: Here is a new interview with Maks and Karina with Hollywood TV. Thanks to @DWTSMaksimFans for this one. I love what Karina says about Dancing With The Stars and how it helped her and Maks get their roles in Forever Tango.
There are also some great pics of Maks and Karina taken over the weekend at Getty Images where they attended a “Celebrities Visit Broadway” celebration. Karina also attended a Major League Baseball’s All Star Bash. They also sprinkled “Forever Tango” cupcakes. See this link for more.
