PureDWTS Weekend Media Tidbits And An Amusing Twitter Exchange To Wrap It Up

AnnaTrebunskayaAdMe

Awww, isn’t it good to see Anna Trebunskaya again?! She tweeted out the photo above when she attended an AdmeTech Foundation event last night.

Anna wasn’t the only dancer from Dancing With The Stars to make an appearance at a Red Carpet event these past few days. Below is troupe member Sasha Farber at the “Warm Bodies” premiere in Hollywood. You can see more pics of him at Getty Images. Girlfriend and troupe member Emma Slater was also pictured with him. You can see a picture of her with Sasha in this tweet.

SashaFarberWarmBodies

Speaking of Sasha and Emma, they’ve been making their rounds across the country dancing in “America’s Favorite Dancers”. You can watch one of their dance routines below. You can view more videos of them at Sasha’s You Tube Channel. So energetic, quick, and full of passion.

Derek Hough, Kym Johnson, Chelsie Hightower, Mark and Corky Ballas also made a showing at one of the “America’s Favorite Dancers” events in Marksville, LA. Corky tweeted the picture below of them out after dancing. You can view more pics and coverage of this show at Pure Derek Hough. Too fun and Derek is fine fine wearing a black satin lined suit. 😀

AmericansFavoriteDancers

Last, but, not least, and speaking of Corky Ballas, I ran on to this little twitter exchange yesterday that had me giggling. Note below how Lee Meriwether and Miss America would like to tag team with Mark Ballas to dance or better yet, Miss America can have Mark and Lee can have Corky.

LeeMeriwetherMissAmerica

Lol! So cute, but, don’t take this exchange too seriously. They are just having fun and as Heidi said privately to me, the season Lee stops talking on Dancing With The Stars all together is most likely when she will seriously be dancing. Then again, who knows? It’s fun to picture, dream or speculate on none the less.

And that is all for now, Beautiful Readers!!!! Have a great Sunday! 😉 xxxxx

PureDWTS Audience Casting Watch: Christie Brinkley, Danica McKellar, Adrienne Maloof….

Sometimes I have to wonder about the celebs who show up in the audience to watch Dancing With The Stars and if they might not be considering dancing on the show in the future? For instance, Emmitt Smith was in the audience for the Dancing With The Stars Season 14 finals (or was it the semi finals?). The next thing we know, he was picked to do the Dancing With The Stars All Stars season.

I also remember Christie Brinkley being in the audience for Season 14’s Semi Finals which brings me to this piece on Anderson Cooper yesterday with Christie doing a Samba with this season’s Dancing With The Stars All Star Gilles Marini.

Nice, huh? 🙂

During her run in “Chicago”, Access Hollywood asked Christie if she’d ever do Dancing With The Stars. She wouldn’t say yes or no. In fact, she said, “never say never”. She also said TPTB have asked her to do the show before, but, the timing has never been right.

While atttending “Chicago”, Kym Johnson said would like to see Christie dance and remarked “hopefully” Christie would do the show someday in this interview…. Read more..

Keeping An Eye On: Celebs Who Were Rumored To Dance On DWTS

Just some brief mentions on some celebrities we’ve been keeping an eye on that were rumored to dance in some previous seasons of Dancing With The Stars. First of all, let’s not forget about “Deadliest Catch” star Sig Hanson. This past June, he was reported as saying he will participate on Dancing With The Stars in the Spring. Here is more from Reality Blurred at the time…

Deadliest Catch star and Northwestern captain Sig Hansen said he’ll participate in Dancing with the Stars next spring.

The St. Pete Times’ Eric Deggans reports that “the possibility Hansen might fulfill his longtime dream of competing on Dancing With the Stars in March 2012” is “the kind of success they could scarcely have predicted when [executive producer Thom] Beers first suggested putting a film crew on their boats for the first time.”

Specifically, Sig said, “So they’re looking at it for next March and I’ll do it. I think it’d be good for the brand, once-in-a-lifetime thing, and it’s fuckin’ cool, you know? Why not, you know? … I think it’d be fun. It’s just, you know, why not? I’m living life. It’s been fun and as long as it doesn’t hurt my relationship with my wife, I’m good with it.” (That quotation didn’t make the story but Deggans provided it to me from the transcript of his interview.)

Also, did you note how Lee Meriwether was in the audience watching the show one night this past season?? She tweeted about it and was an avid supporter to J.R. through out the season. As you might know if you are a follower to this site, Lee has been very interested in dancing on the show for the past two seasons. Let’s not forget she’s made it a point to ‘follow’ a lot of Dancing With The Stars fans at twitter. Will Dancing With The Stars Season 14 finally be her time to dance? As you can see from her twitter account, she’s nutty about Tom Bergeron too as many of us are. 🙂

Then there is pro woman wrestler Velvet Sky. She and her fans have been campaigning hard for her through out the Summer and Fall! I thought this recent tweet made by her on Oct. 1st was especially interesting….

Let’s get Heidi’s thoughts:

Heidi:  Velvet was never a rumor, she was a campaigner who made it sound like she was in the running.  Big difference…and I kinda doubt she will be successful.  But, you never know.  🙂

Speaking of campaigns versus actual rumors – Lorenzo Lamas was claiming not too long ago that he was on the “short list” to do the show…yet he (and Donna D’Errico) urged all his fans to vote for him at abc.com.  So, is this a rumor, wishful thinking on his part, or a savvy (kinda) campaign??  Who can tell – it’s Hollywood!! Clearly some are not above stretching the truth and there is no way of telling when someone is. 🙂

What about rumors that seemed pretty solid??  Celebuzz said that Kim Richards was all signed up to do the show – wrong.  So, was she signed and got bumped??  Or did she tell Celebuzz what she was hoping for??  Either way, maybe she’ll show up on this coming season of the show. 🙂

Then there are those tweeting a list of people who are “going to participate” and they actually get half of them right.  Well, what do you do with the other half of their lists?? Were those people in contention and got bumped or decided not to do it?? Or were they culling rumors like we do and just managed to get half right??  The Henry Winkler and Tiffany Thiessen rumors seem to fall into this category.  Don’t know what to make of it, actually.

Christina Milian is a rumor that I could get behind…if she was dancing with Derek. 🙂  So much pretty on the dance floor. :::sigh:::  🙂  She seemed kinda solid for last season, but we know how that turned out…but never say never. Shawn Marion actually said he was offered, but didn’t want to take a chance with the lockout – as we know, Ron Artest didn’t mind taking the chance. This makes me think that we won’t see Marion any time soon – current basketball players two seasons in a row? Probably not.

Who else seemed like a possibility recently?? Well, Davy Jones, Evelyn Lozado, Matthew Finley….well, the list is too long, really.

Of course, this is where the internet noise machine becomes a problem – one person mentions a name as a “wish” then someone sees it and thinks it’s rumored….and before you know it it’s all over the freakin’ internet as a “fact”.  Let me tell you, sorting through all that crap to find the real deal is nearly impossible.  But at least we’ll tell you when we’re not sure. 🙂  Which is MOST of the time.  And this is the time that I chuckle as I remember all the Hope Solo fans who told us, categorically, that Hope was NOT doing the show after we reported she was.  So, all the talk is hard to decipher.

There are probably several hundred other people who were rumored in the past who we should be keeping an eye on – but this is a start for now.  🙂

DWTS13 Casting Rumors – The Typecasting of Season 13, Part I

It’s that time of year, again – time to take all the wacky rumors and all the wacky casting patterns we see from season to season and hypothesize who we might actually get to see 🙂 This year is interesting, in that we already definitely know one of the celebs, are fairly certain about two others, and have got definite suspicions about another two – almost takes a bit of fun out of the guessing, no? 🙂 But I’m sure there will be at least one celeb who’s name we haven’t heard – and at least one we’ve never heard of, too…thankfully, even unpredictability becomes predictable after awhile! But let’s get it on with it, shall we? Oh, and if you’re feeling nostalgic (and want to see how effective using these cast types as a template can be), check out the typecasting of season 10, season 11, and season 12 🙂

The Olympian

Previous examples: Kristi Yamaguchi, Shawn Johnson, Apolo Ohno, Natalie Coughlin, Misty May-Treanor, Maurice Greene, Louie Vito, Evan Lysacek

Advantages: The winningest of the 12 types, their obvious advantage is their athleticism – you won’t see these guys struggling with strength or endurance moves.  In addition, the same tireless work ethic that helped them medal in the Olympics will likely carry them through the toils of the competition. They also seem to be adored by the masses, as many are seen as “hero” figures – which translates into a formidable voting fanbase.

Disadvantages: For those specializing in sports that are less “artistic” (i.e. swimming, running, volleyball), it might be a bit hard to really get into the character of the dance and truly perform to the crowd.  Previously incurred injuries (or the fear of incurring an injury that might hinder their participation in subsequent competitions in their sport, a la Misty May-Treanor) may also slow them down & limit their mobility. DWTS 13 – Dancing With The Stars Cast 13 Wannabes Starting To Line Up

The Dancing With The Stars Cast 13 “Wannabes” are starting to line up for Season 13. As reported to you earlier, we know Melissa Gilbert very much wants to dance on the show. All it’s going to take is a “phone call”.

Also, Lee Meriwether has also expressed great interest in the past couple of Seasons to dance. Will this be the Season Lee lights us up on the dance floor? I really hope so. Below is a recent tweet Lee posted this past Season when she went to the show. She also mentions wanting actress McKenzie Westmore to do the show with her.

And then there is actress Dee Wallace!! PureDWTS reader Nathan sent us a heads up on this news Monday. Dee appeared on Good Morning America to promote her new book “Bright Light”. At the end of the interview they ask her is she’d like to do Dancing With The Stars. Bashful and with a lot of heart, she replied that she’d love to do the show.

Finally, News Vindication via US Weekly is reporting ‘Teen Mom’ star Maci Bookout is hoping to dance on the show. She and Bristol Palin struck up a friendship last Season. So, could this be a possible contender in the making?

Teen Mom 2 star Maci Bookout is hoping to follow in the footsteps of reality stars Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Kate Gosselin by expressing interest to appear on an upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars.

US Weekly reported that Maci has vehemently expressed interest in competing on the show. Then again, who wouldn’t want to get an invitation to compete on one of the world’s biggest stages? The media frenzy surrounding Kate Gosselin’s recent appearance as well as Sorrentino’s has done nothing but enhance their celebrity status.

Let’s also not forget about Colleen Zenk and Jodi Sweetin as well rumored from last Season. Colleen’s team is still campaigning hard for her and we know Colleen is up for this show in more ways than one. This past season Jodi would tweet her thoughts on the show almost every week at her twitter account and some have said she has expressed she’d like to dance with Derek Hough and yet, she follows Maks at her twitter account.

Ok, that’s all for now. So, what do you think of the people above? Would you be open to any or all of them dancing? I like all of them but Maci Bookout. I would think her profile would be repeating Bristol’s too much?

As always, I look forward to your thoughts.xx

Heidi’s Note: I saw this last night from Pro Motocross racer Josh Hansen, which I believe is a joke directed at Louie Vito. But you never know… so just in case…

DWTS Season 12 Casting Rumors – The Typecasting of Season 12, Part I

Whenever the time comes to start speculating about the next season’s cast, one useful “tool” we all seem to use is the patterns in typecasting over the seasons – we know there will likely be at least 1 athlete, perhaps a reality TV star, a singer or two, etc.  But when you REALLY take a good look at the casting “types” over the seasons, it becomes clear that each season has been a carefully-crafted combination of celebs to appeal almost every demographic…and I think we’ve cracked that code 🙂

Prior to the cast announcements, I’ve done a typecasting analysis for both season 10 and season 11, and both casts have fulfilled almost every subtype (with some celebs fulfilling more than one “type”).  So why not take a look at the casting rumors for season 12 and see which might fit into the casting equation, shall we? 🙂

Possible candidates this season: Since we didn’t get an Olympian last season, I can almost guarantee we’ll get one this season – and the most likely candidate seems to be Nastia Liukin, who has been a rumor for a few seasons now and has started following Mark on Twitter within the past few days.  Other possibilities: Greg Louganis, who seems to have been trying for several seasons now to get onto the show; and while it may be a long-shot, Johnny Weir fans are still campaigning for a “Team Weirnoff” partnership.

The Athlete

Previous examples: Chuck Liddell, Warren Sapp, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Helio Castroneves, Laila Ali, Floyd Mayweather, Ty Murray, Evander Holyfield, Jerry Rice, Clyde Drexler, Monica Seles, Jason Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, Chad Ochocinco, Kurt Warner, Rick Fox

Advantages: As with the Olympians, their athleticism & work ethic make them well-suited to the competition.  An edge they might have over their Olympic counterparts: sports like football, auto racing, & mixed martial arts tend to have a larger, more mainstream following than some of the Olympic sports.

Disadvantages: Again, a lack of “artistic” experience & previous injury (especially with the football players, who have really taken a beating over the years). Some of the more muscular athletes in hard-hitting sports may also have difficulty with the refined, precise moves of some of the dances.

Possible candidates this season: This category has been oddly devoid of really “solid” possibilities this season, aside from the Brett Favre debacle – doubtful, but stranger things have happened on the show! Chris Jericho was also kicked around as a possibility again this season, and it looks like WWE Diva Maria Kanellis is still gunning for a spot on the show.

The Model/Playmate/Beauty Queen

Previous examples: Kelly Monaco, Rachel Hunter, Tia Carrere, Shanna Moakler, Paulina Porizkova, Shandi Finnessey, Josie Maran, Albert Reed, Shannon Elizabeth, Brooke Burke, Holly Madison, Kathy Ireland, Joanna Krupa, Pam Anderson

Advantages: All the costumes seem to look fantastic on them (and they can get away with wearing the really skimpy ones) and so do their pro partners – easy to imagine a “showmance”, which always seems to grab votes.  Also seems to have cornered the votes of the small population of male viewers, for obvious reasons

Disadvantages: Despite making a career out of looking great posing & strutting down the runway, many of them have proven to be rather awkward movers outside of that context, and some seem to have a hard time carrying around their taller than average stature.  They also run the risk of getting lost in the shuffle among attractive male competitors, who seem to draw in more votes from the predominantly-female viewing population.

Possible candidates this season: A strong possibility seems to be Kendra Wilkinson, who would be following in the footsteps of her Girls Next Door co-star Holly Madison.  Rumored contestant Lee Meriwether is also a former Miss America.

The Legend

Previous examples: Cloris Leachman, Wayne Newton, Donny Osmond, Tatum O’Neal, Marie Osmond, Jane Seymour, Marlee Matlin, Susan Lucci, Florence Henderson

Advantages: These individuals are extremely well-known & respected in the entertainment business, with many years of experience (and fans) under their belts, as well as an award or two. Also masters of the stage & screen – perhaps the best at emulating the emotions of the dances.

Disadvantages: With many years of experience comes an older age than many of their competitors – which comes with an increased risk of injury & fatigue that could limit the difficulty of their routines.

Possible candidates this season: We’ve got two ladies with quite a sterling reputation in show business – Faye Dunaway & Lee Meriwether. One was the original “Bonnie”  of Bonnie & Clyde; the other was the original Catwoman.  Who do you think we’ll get? 🙂

The Soap Star

Previous examples: Kelly Monaco, Cameron Mathison, Lisa Rinna, Susan Lucci, Aiden Turner

Advantages: The demographic of soap opera viewers overlaps heavily with the demographic of viewers of DWTS, and most soap opera viewers have been watching those shows for years (I started watching General Hospital when I was 6!), so they often have a fierce loyalty to their favorite characters (and the actors/actresses who portray them).

Disadvantages: This group likely has the most grueling schedule to contend with, as most soaps tape year-round, and some of them are taped in New York, forcing the stars (and sometimes their partners) to fly coast-to-coast several times a week to practice.  Many also have absolutely no background in any kind of sport, making them a real “project” for the pros to take on.

Possible candidates this season: The lovely Lee Meriwether could do triple duty this season, by fulfilling this category by virtue of her role of Ruth Martin on All My Children. From the online voting for this season’s cast, it looks like Colleen Zenk & Crystal Chappell are also big favorites.

The Comedian

Previous examples: Penn Jillette, Jeff Ross, Adam Carolla, David Allen Grier, Ashley Hamilton, Niecy Nash, Margaret Cho

Advantages: Let’s face it, they’re fun to watch, and they definitely inject some much- needed hilarity into the show.

Disadvantages: They often come across like they don’t take the competition seriously, instead favoring their usual schtick over actual dancing. Some of their on-show humor (Jeff Ross’ in particular) can also be rather polarizing – hilarious to some, offensive to others. And again – often no background in any sort of sport, let alone dancing.

Possible candidates this season: None that we’ve heard of…but who would you like to see? I’m holding out for a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour to sign on – Ron White would be a hoot!

So do you guys think I’m onto something with this season’s rumors? Tune in for my next installment, where I dissect just who we might get this season from the teen idol, host, actor, reality star, singer, & wild card categories!

DWTS Season 12 Cast Rumors – Celebrity Dancing Contender Round-up

So, let’s do a summary round-up of all the celebrities that might or might not be dancing on Dancing With The Stars Season 12. Below is a list of each celebrity with a link back to our original reportings on each of them for why we thought they garnished attention or a mention.

Lady Celebrities

Julie Benz -Tom Bergeron’s Dream Contestant!
iJustine -A You Tube sensation dying to get on the show. She and her fan base worked overtime campaigning for her at ABC.com
Maria Kanellis -Maria was on early rumor but, we haven’t heard much regarding her since.
Joan Rivers -Joan has thrown her hat into the ring just about every year and for some reason, execs won’t bite.
Donna D’Errico -After doing a little early campaigning with Lorenzo Lamas to do the show, Donna changed her mind. She said she had other dreams of finding Noah’s Ark in Turkey and doing a cooking show instead.
Kim Zolciak -Kim remarked at Twitter she was “weighing options” for Dancing With The Stars.
Brooke Mueller – Brooke is Charlie Sheen’s former wife and has been rumored to be in talks with DWTS, but as of Feb. 3rd hadn’t received a formal offer.
Colleen Zenk -Sources recently told Colleen she was the most supported to dance on the show for a “Daytime Actor” and that the fans have been heard. Then she said “big things are ahead” and hopes we’ll join her for the ride.
LeAnn Rimes -LeAnn said she’d do the show if Benji Schwimmer would.
Lee Meriwether – Lee is tight lipped and won’t confirm or deny at twitter, but, she tweeted in November she was “trying to get on the show” and to “cross our fingers”. This isn’t the first Season Lee has been rumored to dance. She very much wants to do the show.
Kendra Wilkinson – E News (usually a very good source for DWTS) reported Kendra was in talks to do the show. Their source told them, “Her personality, combined with her ability to dance, is appealing”. Perez Hilton has reported that she has signed.
Wendy Williams -Like Lee, Wendy won’t confirm or deny at Twitter, but rumors on this contender are rampant. I was told recently at Twitter (thanks @upclose22 ) that Wendy’s sister said she can’t keep a secret. However, in this case, Wendy is definitely keeping a secret if she is indeed dancing. Perez Hilton said she has signed. Though Wiki can’t always be trusted, they are reporting her Reps have confirmed this news as well (Thanks to @BotanicalLilly).
Candice Cameron Bure – Some rumors started to appear on Candice and then quickly faded out when she tweeted she hadn’t been asked (as of Feb. 16th).
Christine O’Donnell – This controversial political guru (I like Courtney’s description of her MUCH better-follow link 😀 ) posted at her Facebook that she was mulling over an offer and asked her supporters if she should consider it. DWTS fans everywhere have been gasping and fearing Bristol Palin Part 2.
Nastia Liukin -Nastia is the perfect fill for the Olympian spot and both her and Mark Ballas have recently started following each other at Twitter.
Vera Wang – One of her new tweets and rumors from previous Seasons has made us suspicious that Vera might be doing the show this year.
Faye Dunaway – Rumorfix.com reported that this A-lister has signed to do the show. What a coo this would be for the show (and fans alike) if true!!!
Kirstie Alley -Perez Hilton was the first to report Kirtsie has signed to do the show. As of the time of this post, Kirstie won’t confirm or deny at twitter which leads many of us to believe Kirstie is doing the show.
Jodie Sweetin -Jodie has been campaigning to do the show, has expressed her love of dance all of her life, and is following Maks (only) at Twitter.
Elin Nordegren -She is Tiger Wood’s wife and the most recent addition to this list. Extra supposedly has been reporting on this. But, I can’t find where?

Men Celebrities

Zakk Wilde -Black Label Society’s and Ozzy Osbourne’s former front man was campaining early to do the show.
Tony Robbins -Tony remarked at Twitter Dancing With The Stars wants him to dance this Season, but said QVC is his limit.
Lorenzo Lamas – One of our earliest rumored celebrities, Lorenzo has said he very much wants to do the show and would if asked. He’s been seen at several dancing events and hanging out with the pros of the show.
Kris Joseph -Rumors were flying on Twitter on Kris dancing and then he squashed it when he said, “Where are all these crazy rumors emerging from? This aint even funny anymore.”
Brett Favre -Rumors are still popular on this possibility, but his daugher tweeted he wasn’t doing the show (as of Feb. 11th). Heidi’s Note: Pretty sure this one was always bull started by Kurt Warner.
Al Sharpton – Rev. Al said “no” when a recent offer came in even though he said he’d “BLOW ‘EM OUT” with his dance moves. 😯
Carlos Leon -Carlos has turned down an offer several times to dance on the show, but, if asked this Season he said he’d do it.
Chris Jericho – Rumors on this possibility are still on-going even though Chris has recently announced several big commitments. Chris is also following the Official DWTS twitter account.
Dane Cook – A new addition to this list since he and Cheryl have added themselves to their twitter accounts. I saw this for myself last night after it was reported by PureDWTS reader Jennifer (Thanks Jennifer) and now Dane has taken her off which makes me suspicious. Follow comments at link.
Tatum Channing -Also a new addition to this list being Chelsie has just added him to her twitter account. Thanks to PureDWTS reader Susan for this heads up. Follow comments at link.
Hines Ward – A Steeler Wide receiver. Heidi suspected something was up with a “Steeler” being signed a couple of weeks ago.

So, there ya go!! Yes Louis, we are not going to let you down! 😀

Stay tuned for Heidi to follow me up with a “Pairings” post because, as serious and past followers to this site know, she has a serious knack for forecasting. 😉

Heidi’s Note: Well thanks, but I’m good at forecasting who will be on the show, I suck pretty bad lately at the partners. 🙂

If we hear of more rumored celebrities, we’ll be sure to update this post.

Pure DWTS Season 12 – Quick Thoughts & Interesting Twitter Notations

Though it could be nothing, Lee Meriwether has added TONY Dovolani in the last few days to her twitter account when he wasn’t there before. I was messaged at twitter (Thanks @donamadrina) that Mark is now following Nastia Luikin. Interesting too how Nastia, Jodie Sweetin, Lee Meriwether, Wendy Williams, and Kirstie Alley haven’t denied the rumors yet that they are Dancing With The Stars celebrity contenders. Hmmmm??

Yes, Louis Van Amstel, we work for the FBI! 😀

DWTS Season 12 Cast Rumors/Speculation – Lee Meriwether To Do DWTS?

Ok, so this is a long shot. But, it’s been noted by several of the Pure DWTS writing team that Lee Meriwether has recently added some people to her twitter account that has a connection with “Dancing With The Stars” including some fans to the show and ourselves. Now maybe this is nothing and Lee is just trying to garnish some publicity for her role in “Women of Spoon River“. Then again, we know the former Miss America, actress, and Broadway star would very much like to do the show and was rumored to be a contestant last year. From 10Xdur, here’s a quote from Lee last April.

Now at the age of 74, this femme fatale wants to claw her way onto the cast of Dancing with the Stars. Unlike some of the other older contestants like Buzz Aldrin and Cloris Leachman, Lee might possibly have a chance of winning.

“As a performer, I think I can dance,” she told us. “I know better in my heart that it will take a lot of work, but I think I can sell it. As a performer you pretend to be a dancer, and I know I can be a dancer.”

“I love the show. I watch it. I tape it. I watch the dances over and over and over again,” she went on to say. “I just love the show.”

Edit to add a tweet from this last November:

Again, this is a long shot. But, everything sure seems coincidental, doesn’t it? If this turns out to be true, who do you see Lee dancing with? I would say Corky but then that would be too much of a repeat for what we saw last year with him and Florence. Maybe Louis? Or maybe Tony who she might have seen and talked with at the Miss America show last month? Whatever the case, Lee wears fancy dress gowns well, doesn’t she? 😉

Heidi’s Note: Lee’s been wanting to be on the show for a while and we’ve written about her before. 🙂
