And the remaining nine couples will heat up the floor dancing either the Salsa, Argentine Tango or the Samba, MONDAY, APRIL 16 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on ABC.

On Tuesday night, Grammy® Award-winning band Train take to the stage with an awesome performance of “Drive By,” their first single from their latest album, “California 37,” accompanied by Louis Van Amstel and Cheryl Burke. The performance is choreographed by the talented Liz Imperio, who has directed Gloria Estefan’s last three world concert tours and choreographed for Madonna and Jennifer Lopez.

Also, this week’s bottom two couples will face off in a Dance Duel. The two couples will perform the same dance style, this week the Cha-Cha, to the same song at the same time. Why am I so nervous after reading that? I’m glad I’m not them. 😯

Dancing With The Stars 13 Details And Performers For Week 9!

There is a lot planned for two nights of great TV for Dancing With The Stars next week!!! Read all about it below including how they plan to “rank” the Cha Cha Relay and who will be performing!! From ABC Media Net….

“Episode 1309 & 1309A” — The semi-finals have arrived and the competition is nothing short of intense as the four remaining couples charm audiences with three routines. Their first performance is an Argentine Tango, their second dance is either a Paso Doble or Samba — one of which is a style dance they have not yet performed — and their third dance will be the Cha Cha relay, in which all couples will dance to the same song. Their Cha Cha will not be scored, but it will be ranked by the judges: The couple who takes first place in the ranking will receive 10 points, the second-place couple will get 8 points, the third-place couple will get 6 points and the fourth-place couple will take 4 points. Monday night’s show also includes a fierce Pro Argentine Tango performance choreographed by world renowned Argentine Tango master dancers and choreographers Sandor and Parissa. Pro dancers Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Kiki Nyemcheck, Sasha Faber and Oksana Dmytrenko will accompany Sandor and Parissa in this piece, live on “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14 ( 8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

On TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), during the second night of the semi-finals on “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show,” the ninth couple will be sent home after an evening of exceptional performances by cast members from Disney’s “The Muppets” and musical guests Cobra Starship featuring Sabi.

In the final “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance this season, two yet to be named “DWTS” pros will perform a thrilling Paso Doble to “Bad Romance.” All season long, fans have voted on the performance song, style, costumes and pro dancers for the season’s Macy’s Design-a-Dance.
During Tuesday night’s show, the cast of Disney’s “The Muppets” take over the ballroom with dazzling appearances throughout the show. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and a new member of The Muppet family, Walter, hit the stage, joined by the rest of the Muppet gang, including Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo the Great, Pepe the King Prawn, Swedish Chef, Rowlf the Dog, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, for an unforgettable performance to “Life’s a Happy Song.” The dance number is choreographed by Michael Rooney. “Life’s a Happy Song” is from Disney’s film “The Muppets,” starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Animal, Jason Segal, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones and Walter James Bobin. “The Muppets,” directed by James Bobin, featuring signature celebrity cameos and a handful of original songs, hits theaters November 23rd.

Also on Tuesday’s results show, we have a truly kinetic and captivating performance from Cobra Starship featuring Sabi, performing their explosive hit single, “You Make Me Feel,” accompanied by pro dancers Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus, Sharna Burgess and Sonny Pederson. Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Cobra Starship are currently celebrating the blockbuster success of their hit single, “You Make Me Feel…(Feat. Sabi),” from the group’s latest album, “Night Shades.” The band’s certified platinum single is currently a top five favorite at CHR/Top 40 radio outlets nationwide. The band recently accompanied Justin Bieber on his successful South American Tour and will next hit the stage for a series of radio-sponsored holiday concerts.

The final “AT&T Spotlight Performance” of the season highlights four talented boys, Kyle Scanlan, David Guzman, Jacob Guzman and Matt Gilmore from The Gold School in Brockton, Massachusetts. Their inspiring performance will be accompanied by female pro dancers Chelsie Hightower, Lacey Schwimmer, Sharna Burgess and Peta Murgatroyd. As one of the best dance schools in the country, The Gold School is known for producing amazing dancers. These four particular teen boys are members of the school’s Project Moves campaign, which helps raise awareness to the bullying epidemic that continues to plague schools across the country. Growing up as male dancers, the boys have been targets of bullying themselves. However, with their common love of dance, the talented young dancers have learned how to triumph over adversity. Kyle, David, Jacob and Matt are assets to their community, incredible dancers and proof that there is nothing wrong with following your dreams.

Pure DWTS Finals – Black Eyed Peas, Go-Go’s, Sara Evans, and More To Perform For Dancing With The Stars Finals Week

Let The Finals Begin! Monday night our dancing couples will perform two numbers. The first dance is the judges’ choice and the second is the famous freestyle. Then on Tuesday, the three couples will perform their favorites dances from this Season which the judges will rank. Also, on Tuesday, the Black Eyed Peas, the Go-Go’s, and Country singer/former Dancing With The Stars Season 3 contestant Sara Evans will perform. Details below from ABC MediaNet. I imagine other surprises are in store for us as well including the return of all the contesants and pros who were eliminated this Season. We have yet to hear anything about the “Design A Dance” Contest and Performance as well which I’m starting to wonder if they scrapped?

In the final one-hour performance show on MONDAY, MAY 23 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), the couples will compete in two dances. The first number, the Judges’ Choice, is the style that the judges have determined to be the one each couple showed promise in and could now excel at based on hours of practice and performance. Then all three contenders will perform their fan favorite Freestyle dances.

The anticipation builds and competition continues for the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, MAY 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), as the three finalists perform their own favorite dance of the season and are ranked by the judges. In addition, each of this season’s 11 couples returns to the dance floor for a special performance. All of the excitement and frenzy will lead up to the moment we’ve been waiting for – who among the three finalists will reign as champions of “Dancing with the Stars” and take home the coveted mirror ball trophy?

Also on Tuesday’s spectacular Season Finale, one the best-selling, most popular and most innovative groups in over a decade, The Black Eyed Peas, will perform the exclusive television premiere of their new single, “Don’t Stop the Party,” live. The Black Eyed Peas have transformed themselves from a beloved backpack rap troop from the West Coast Underground into fully-fledged, massive global superstars whose music can be heard in any country around the world. Having created several albums, each more innovative and popular than the last, The Black Eyed Peas – will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and apl.de.ap – are releasing their sixth full-length album, “The Beginning.” This follows on the heels of 2009’s “The E.N.D.,” their most popular and most creative album to date – and the one that reaffirmed their singular status as global music icons. “The E.N.D.” sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and entered the Billboard Top 200 Chart at No. 1, outperforming their previous CD, “Monkey Business.” It yielded five Top 10 singles (the first album to do so in 20 years), spent an entire year on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and earned the group three new Grammy Awards, for a total of six Grammy Awards they’ve won. In all, they’ve sold 29 million records worldwide (plus over 30-million digital tracks), sold more than 3 million tickets and headlined over 300 different tour dates in 29 different countries. “The Beginning’s” first single, “The Time (Dirty Bit),” went straight to No. 1 on iTunes in 11 countries within the first 24 hours. Much of “The Beginning” was conceived during their most recent worldwide headlining tour, where they visited more than 20 countries and played to more than a million people.

For the first time in a “DWTS” Season Finale, Macy’s Stars of Dance presents the Macy’s Design-a-Dance fan favorite Jive song pick, “We Got the Beat,” to be performed live in the ballroom by the Go-Go’s. The winning “DWTS” pro dancers and concept will also be revealed Tuesday night. This will be the band’s first television performance together in over five years and kicks off a spectacular summer of events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Go-Go’s debut, history-making album, “Beauty and the Beat.” The Go-Go’s recently announced the addition of a tour kick-off performance to be held in Las Vegas, NV at The Beach at Mandalay Bay on May 27, 2011. When “Beauty and the Beat” was released and flew up the charts 30 years ago, it became a perennial soundtrack for summer and reached the top of the Billboard charts, the first for an all-female band who wrote and performed their own music. Also just released, “The Go-Go’s: Beauty and the Beat 30th Anniversary Edition” by Capitol/I.R.S. commemorative edition, available in 2CD, digital and hot pink vinyl format, which features the remastered original album plus exclusive, previously unreleased live show recordings from 1981.

Country music star/”DWTS” Season 3 alum Sara Evans returns to the ballroom floor after having to withdraw from the competition. Having made a huge comeback, Sara’s new RCA Nashville album, “Stronger,” was released March 8 and scored back-to-back weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. First week sales earned the album a No. 6 debut on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. The album’s first hit single, “A Little Bit Stronger,” recently reached the No. 1 position on the country radio charts and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. “A Little Bit Stronger” was also recently RIAA-certified as a Gold Digital Single, reflecting digital sales in excess of 500,000 downloads. Beginning June 18, Evans will join Rascal Flatts on their summer “Flatts Fest” tour.

DWTS 12, Week 7 – Nicki Minaj, James Blunt, Shirley Ballas, Val Chmerkovskiy & More On “Ballroom Greats Week”

The theme for week 7 is “Ballroom Greats”. Lots on tap!! The entertainment includes Nicki Minaj, James Blunt, Wayne Brady, and the Macy’s Stars of Dance. Former Ballroom Champions Shirley Ballas (Mark’s Mother) and Luca Baricchi will make special appearances to help teach the couples. Donnie Burns MBE (the most decorated Latin dancer of all time) will be a guest judge. Val Chmerkovskiy (Maks’ brother) and his professional partner, Daria Chesnokova, will dance on the Results show (see a new fun video of them dancing and Val talking with he and Maks’ Dad here.). More below and at ABC Medianet.

“Episode 1207” – “Dancing with the Stars” celebrates “Ballroom Greats” week, MONDAY, MAY 2 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET/PT), on The ABC Television Network. Serving as guest judge, alongside Carrie Ann, Len and Bruno, is Donnie Burns MBE, the most decorated Latin dancer of all time and head of the World Dance Council. Each couple, who will dance a style they have yet to perform, will have received a “master class” from one of ballroom’s best, either former Latin World Champion Shirley Ballas or Luca Baricchi, former Ballroom World Champ.

Monday is also the first time that the couples perform two dances, the second, the Team Cha Cha Competition. Captains Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane lead their teams, Kirstie Alley & Kendra Wilkinson and Ralph Macchio & Romeo, respectively, each to be scored as a group by the judges.

On TUESDAY, MAY 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), the evening begins with “Dancing with the Stars: The Encore,” which will show highlights from the previous night’s performances. Then on “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show: Episode 1207A” (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), another couple will be eliminated from the competition, and musical guests James Blunt and Nicki Minaj perform. James Blunt will sing “I’ll Be Your Man” and, in honor of “Ballroom Greats” week, Amateur U.S. Latin champions Val Chmerkovskiy and his partner, Daria Chesnokova, will dance. Nicki Minaj performs “Moment 4 Life” — Lacey Schwimmer, Chelsie Hightower, Kiki Nyemchek and Sonny Pederson dance.

This week’s “Macy’s Stars of Dance” is a special tribute to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, in celebration of his birthday. The multitalented Wayne Brady stars in the number and is choreographed by creative directors Kevin and Marcel Wilson.

In the first “Spotlight Segment” of the season, the spotlight shines on 17-year-old ballerina Patricia Zhou. Patricia currently studies at the prestigious Kirov Academy of Ballet and has just been accepted at the Royal Ballet. In the weeks to come, “Spotlight Segments” will feature people whose lives have been changed by dance.

This is going to be fun. I can’t wait to see Val dance again! Who’s with me on this? 🙂

DWTS12 – More On The Dancing With The Stars Entertainment For Monday & Tuesday

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting more details on the entertainment for next week from our previous posting. They list the songs to be performed by the guest performers and a special treat for Derek Hough fans after Monday night’s show. Not only that, celebrities, judges, and some “dancing” alumni are returning. The “Macy’s Stars of Dance” are also paying tribute to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Royal wedding. More below. Exciting week coming up!! Who is going to be there? 😀

1. The dance contest will feature Hanson singing “MmmBop” during Monday’s performance show at 8 p.m. The theme is “Guilty Pleasures Night,” and the seven couples will perform a Latin or ballroom style to what the network calls “a musical guilty pleasure.” Translation: a song nobody wants to admit liking.

2. Derek Hough, who isn’t on this year’s show, puts in a guest appearance on “Better With You.” It airs at 9:30 p.m. Monday right after “Dancing.” Hough plays a dance instructor. Larry King also has a cameo.

3. ABC will offer a live “Dancing With the Stars” special at 8 p.m. Tuesday. It’s called “The Road to the Finals” and will feature the celebrities, judges and ”Dancing” alumni sounding off. Hanson will perform “Give a Little.” Also performing will be the cast of “Rock of Ages,” which features Constantine Maroulis of “American Idol” and Rebecca Faulkenberry.

4. The “Dancing” results show will follow at 9 p.m. Tuesday on WFTV-Channel 9. New Kids On the Block/Backstreet Boys will perform “Don’t Turn Out the Lights.” Pia Toscano of “American Idol” will sing “I’ll Stand by You” as pros Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff dance. The Macy’s Stars of Dance segment will celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Thanks for Heidi for sending me more details on the entertainment to post. Speaking of, be sure to check into Pure Derek Hough because Heidi has some great things up from when Derek visited Texas this past week. She’s got even more goodies on the “Better With You” appearance as well. Don’t miss it!!

DWTS 12, Week 5 – Dancing With The Stars “Yankee Doodle Dandy” Entertainment

As most of you know from our earlier postings, comments, and the announcement on the show last week, this week is Patriot Week. To go along with the theme, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting Toby Keith will be performing in the Results show Tuesday night. The “Macy’s Stars of Dance” will also be performing again. More details below.

“Dancing With the Stars” will put a “Yankee Doodle Dandy” spin on its shows next week. The show went classical this week, and American Week is coming Monday.

The ABC dance contest will have the eight remaining couples perform to classic American-themed songs at 8 p.m. Monday on WFTV-Channel 9.

Toby Keith will play the results show at 9 p.m. Tuesday. He will sing “American Soldier” to salute U.S. troops overseas, and he also will perform “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” Jamal Sims will choreograph the “Macy’s Stars of Dance” number.

Since I’m not a big “Country” muisc fan, I’m not sure I will like the theme this week? But, I’ve thought that about other themes on Dancing With The Stars and then I ended up liking them. We’ll see? Here’s to this week’s show everyone. Bring them on. 😀

DWTS 12 – Jennifer Hudson, Katherine Jenkins, David Garrett, & The Macy’s Stars of Dance Set To Perform On Dancing With The Stars

It’s the first ever “classical” themed week coming up for our dancing couples. Along with them, Jennifer Hudson, Katherine Jenkins, David Garrett are set to perform. The Macy’s Stars of Dance will be returning for the first time for Season 12 as well. More details below and at ABC. Also, a “blast from the past” Macy’s Stars of Dance performance from Season 10 below. One of the best in my opinion!

“Episode 1204 & 1204A” – “Dancing with the Stars” has its first-ever classical themed week, as the show’s nine couples try to outshine one another on the dance floor performing to traditional and modern classical music from world renowned musicians. Conducted by “Dancing with the Stars” band leader Harold Wheeler, a full 46-piece orchestra will be joined by multi-platinum mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins and international violin virtuoso David Garrett, MONDAY, APRIL 11 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

On “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show,” TUESDAY, APRIL 12 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), special musical guest Grammy and Academy Award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson sings “Don’t Look Down” and “Feeling Good,” and a third couple is asked to leave the ballroom. Also, David Garrett returns to perform his rocking rendition of “Walk This Way” with the 46-piece orchestra and accompanied by the “Dancing with the Stars” Dance Troupe. This week the first “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance of the season gets underway with world renowned ballet dancers.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
