Dancing With The Stars 14 On To Week Three Media, Dance Hints Revealed, And More (Videos)

We’ve got some relieved couples who weren’t eliminated from Dancing With The Stars last night. George Pennacchio from On The Red Carpet was there to get their thoughts and reactions after the show. He gets them to reveal some hints for what they will be dancing for week 3. He also asks him what style of dance they’d dance where they’d receive three “10’s”. Interesting questions as always. You can tell he’s a die hard fan like us wanting to know as much as he can. lol

First up, Peta and Donald mention having some hidden surprises and secret weapons planned for their future dances. Next week’s dance will be “emotional” and that’s all they will say.

Gladys and Tristan want a dance competition where no one is eliminated. Tristan says he “thinks” they have the Fox Trot next week, but, he’s not sure. Tristan says if Gladys could do a Twist to “mashed potatoes”, she would get all “10’s”. She has some touching words for Martina too since they go way back.

Melissa was so relieved when she was called safe. Maks remarks at how fast the competition is going so far. They aren’t sure on what emotional story in her life they will dance to next week. Melissa said she’d pick Hip Hop to try and get 3 “10’s”.

Jack would pick “White men have rhythm too” if he could pick a dance to receive three “10’s”. They have some kind words for Martina. For next week, they have the Samba and they hope to “wow” us.

DWTS14 Martina Navratilova And Tony Dovolani Media After Their Elimination (Videos)

Sometimes it’s so hard to let some couples go and such is the case for many of us with Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani!! What I loved is that Martina showed the world she is still very much out there, but, she is a legendary figure of a different kind now. We were all blessed to see a vulnerable and humanitarian side of Martina taking on the challenge of learning how to dance all in the name of helping the elderly and showing them they/we can still do anything they/we want despite age, challenges, illness, and hardships. Because of this fact, Martina will always be a winner and a legend to me and her light and message for people will always shine bright. Thank you TPTB (in more ways than one!) for giving us Martina!!!

So, below is Martina and Tony on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night….

Here they are on Access Hollywood. Tony remarked he was hoping to show America a different side of Martina. Don’t worry, Tony! You DID just that!!

Below is an On The Red Carpet interview….

From ET, her cast mates have nothing but wonderful things to say on Martina….

Stay tuned, we will have some Good Morning America coverage shortly! 😉

UPDATE: And below is their Good Morning America interview. Tony made Martina feel like she was Princess every day. So sweet!!! Tony has some thoughts on the couples….

SPOILERS!!! DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – The First Elimination

…is the unkindest cut of all. I always put in a bit of blather here so we don’t spoil those on twitter – even though I’m a firm believe that if you don’t want to know the results, get off the damn computer. 🙂

Anyway, our first elimination is Martina and Tony

Our mini scorecard reads as follows:

Courtney: Called Martina going home, with a slight possibility of it being Gavin

Heidi: Called Martina going home with a possibility of Gavin

John: Called Martina going home.

They did a real bottom two tonight for the first time since they wanted David Arquette to stick around. Odd choice tonight, I think. What do they have invested in Gavin??

DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers

Ai Ai Ai!!! If you are an overly sensitive fan of any of the couples, this post isn’t for you. What a crap ass night of scoring – the dancing was just fine and many couples excelled…but the judges made a secret trip to Columbia before the season started. And dropped a good bit of coin.

And really, you can’t get Derek and Maria’s phone number right?? Jesus – then you fix it (or try to) during Martina and Tony’s skybox chat..and, if I’m not mistaken, never show their number?? I try REALLY REALLY hard not to buy into conspiracy theories – the simplest explanation always being the best and all that (the simplest explanation is that some of the people working on this show are MUPPETS) – but when you so obviously overscore Sherri and (to a lesser extent) Roshon and then just totally screw over Melissa and Jack what do you expect me to do?? I can’t even describe my thoughts on William and Cheryl without using language that John doesn’t approve of. 🙂 I’ll just say…so William sticks his ass out and looks uncertain most of the time and he gets one of the higher scores of the night?? At least good old Len doesn’t have a vagina. I’m counting on him to keep it real where William is concerned. Now, if he would throw away the memo from the ABC brass that says “Score the family HIGH”, I would be so proud of him. Seriously, Martina would need well more than 22K votes more than William – they are VERY invested in protecting this guy.

Anyway, I could go on all day. Remember, the scores from last week and this week are added together for the couples total. The total number of points awarded is then divided into the couples total for their percentage of the judges scores. That counts for half of the couples total score. The other half is treated the same way – the total number of votes divided into the votes for a given couple. When you add the two percentages together, the couple with the lowest combined total goes home.

Let’s look at the couples and their percentages of the total:

The Judges Scores and Percentages

Place Celebrity Score Percentage
1. Katherine 52 9.65
2. William 49 9.09
2. Roshon 49 9.09
4. Jaleel 48 8.91
5. Maria 46 8.53
5. Sherri 46 8.53
7. Donald 45 8.35
8. Jack 44 8.16
9. Gladys 42 7.79
10. Gavin 41 7.61
11. Melissa 40 7.42
12. Martina 37 6.86

:::sigh::: It’s a great season and even the worst dancers are doing better than the best dancers in many other seasons…so why do the judges insist on playing crazy games?? Katherine did a great job, but in what universe does William get only one point less than her?? They weren’t even close. I don’t think William was even close to Maria. Roshon got the same score tonight as William – he is also not worthy of a point less than Katherine, but he was better than William by a good bit..and he’s such a little cutie. I didn’t think I would like him, but I really do! But he and Sherri’s status with ABC was really showing tonight. Melissa still has issues…but no way was she that much worse than Sherri who missed an entire pass. Who was appropriately scored, IMO?? Well, Gavin, Jaleel, Jack, Donald, Maria and Katherine – but when compared to how other couples were overscored (or in some cases underscored), I’m not so sure any more. Read more..

Pure Dancing With The Stars 14 Week 2 – Interviews After The Dance Part 2 (Videos)

I don’t know about you, but, I always enjoy former Dancing With The Stars pro Louis Van Amstel’s take on the dances after Monday night’s shows. Below is his “overall” take. If you’d like to read his full review, visit ABC here and see if you do or don’t agree with him on the night.

Overall. There were some disappointing routines and some really great ones this week. My top three tonight — William, Katherine and Roshon; all three have been consistent and have shown the most potential so far. Donald is an up and comer. I’m worried mostly for Martina (not happy about that) and am not sure if Gavin’s fan base can overrule Martina’s. I’m also slightly worried for Melissa. We’ll all have to wait to find out.

Carson Kressley had some thoughts as well on Good Morning America today. He thinks Katherine is the front runner. I agree with him on Martina’s pants. It’s a rarity to see anyone able to wear them well?

Dancing With The Stars 14 Week 2 – Interviews After The Dance Part 1 (Videos)

Isn’t it always refreshing to get some class act Dancing With The Stars interviews from George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet and this time is no different. Let’s start out with Derek and Maria….

Derek tells why they’ve kept Maria’s injury under wraps. They’d didn’t want to be “known” as an injured couple. Maria danced last week with two broken ribs and keeps going. Derek calls her “amazing”. Maria says she didn’t want a big deal made on her injury and wants to concentrate on their work and all the fun. George says they are the most improved couple. They are happy and she hopes to find her “sex spot”. They have the Rumba next week if they make it and Derek plans to bring out the “love hand”. Wha??? lol

William had no idea he could be at this level of receive this much love. He feels so blessed for the attention. Cheryl loves all of her new Spanish fans as well. Cheryl thinks he has the potential to go far because he showed he can work hard and he could dance both ballroom and Latin. He says he has to keep listening to Cheryl and do everything she says. “Yes yes…”

Roshon and Chelsie are happy with their scores and placement. George tells Roshon he reminds him of a friend who use to dance in the movies with his fast legs. Chelsie says Roshon has the potential to win the mirror ball if he works hard.

Val says Sherri brings out the best in him and make his cheeks cramp up when she’s so funny all the time. She said she was able to breathe last night and wasn’t as nervous. They are happy with their dance and feel blessed. She wants to have fun and keep living the dream.

DWTS 14 Week 2 Power Rankings

First, a warning: I kinda phoned it in on these rankings.  For those of you not watching the drama of “U-Versegate” unfold on my Twitter, my tv & internet inexplicably crapped out right after Melissa & Maks danced – completely missed Jack & Gladys, & only saw part of Katherine before reader Nathan graciously sent me a link to an internet feed, which I could access at that point because my internet was back up.  Long story short – I read the U-Verse customer service rep the riot act, and I have a tech coming out tomorrow morning to figure out the problem, but at this point I’m just kinda ready to be done with tonight.  But a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone (jimmbboe, Will, Maria, @Team_MGMC, and of course Heidi!) who tracked down videos of the performances I missed – I don’t know what I would have done without you 😀

Well, overall, tonight kinda sucked ass 😛 Wish I had a better way to put it, but there were very few moments that delighted me, and many that made me wish my internet had stayed disconnected.  Both ridiculous over & underscoring going on, and some blatant pimping & shady business going on involving a certain couple…oh, and by the way, if you’re a William & Cheryl fan that isn’t mature enough to handle differing opinions, do us both a favor and skip this post.  The “hold for moderation” list here at Pure is becoming more competitive than the VIP roster at Tao in Vegas – seems like some folks are just DYING to get on it 😉

1/2.) TIE: Katherine & Mark and William & Cheryl – I think one of these couples deserves to be in the top spot; the other does not.  I shouldn’t have to tell you which is which 🙂 I do think Katherine has been the most consistent of the past two weeks, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well she’s done – I was definitely worried about tonight, thinking that she would be stuck being the reserved English rose that couldn’t let loose in the jive.  But she brought her A-game – and she not only looked like she was having fun, but she had the best jive technique of the night.  Very energetic, sharp, & clean.  And she actually did jive choreo, which is more than I can say for some of the couples doing jive tonight…ahem.  I thought she looked gorgeous, too – like a young Twiggy 🙂 As for the other couple that I have in the lead – the only reason I have them here is because TPTB and the judges seem bound & determined to jam him down our throats as the hottest dancer this season at every turn, and some folks seem to be buying into the hype.  I am not one of them – I thought his posture in his quickstep was atrocious (he was hunched over for most of it!), and he did loose his timing & footwork a few times…yet miraculously, no one seemed to point it out.  Hmmm.  And the guy still looks terrified to me when he’s dancing – like he’s afraid he might poop his pants. Once again, I reiterate – I’m sure William is a really nice guy.  But all of this shameless promotion of him I’m seeing from TPTB, the judges, and even his partner (who I’ve lost some respect for) just turns me off completely.  After the 3-ring publicity circus of the past 2 weeks, I would not even consider tossing a single vote in their direction this season.  But hey, that’s ok, since they seem to be bogarting Maria & Derek’s votes now…and yes, I’m totally calling shenanigans on that one.  Anywho…based on scores (and some creative promotion), I think these two ought to be safe from tomorrow’s elimination.

3/4.) TIE: Maria & Derek and Jaleel & Kym – I’m gonna apologize in advance for multiple ties – but the scoring of these past 2 weeks just has me all discombulated and unsure of what to think 😯 I’m still in disbelief that the judges honestly thought William & Cheryl’s quickstep was as good as Maria & Derek’s, which I found to be a bright spot in a dismal evening of routines.  It was fun, it was clean, and Maria is starting to relax – and when you take into account that Maria actually hurt herself pretty bad, I think it’s even more impressive that she was able to pull off such an entertaining routine.  I found her technique to be at least a point or 2 better than slouchy William.  As for Jaleel – I feel bad for the guy, because I feel like they got shafted worst of all by their song tonight.  That was one sh*tty jive song – can you blame them for looking a bit lackluster and low-energy when they have to dance a silly dance to a song that’s probably better suited to a rumba or waltz? I honestly wouldn’t have known what to do if tasked with doing jive to a song like that.  So while I think it wasn’t as impressive as his foxtrot last week, I honestly can’t fault him (or Kym, for that matter) for doing a bit of a lackluster routine.  Scoring-wise, I think they *should* be ok – but the spread is really funky this week.  I suggest everyone keep their eyes peeled for Heidi’s numbers post tomorrow…it should be…interesting. DWTS Season 14 Stats Class: Week 2 Predicted Scores

So we know from previous experience that the couples are either going to be jumping around with the Jive or kicking up their heels with the Quickstep. How do we know what they are going to be dancing? Well, if they danced the Foxtrot last week, they will be working on the Jive in Week 2… consequently if a couple danced the ChaCha last week they will be dancing the Quickstep this week.

So let’s see how the predicted numbers add up!

GAVIN DEGRAW
Dance: Jive
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.423
– Occupation: 20.167
– Professional Partner: 21.333
Predicted Score / Rank: 21 / 7th
Comments: Gavin is towards the bottom of the leaderboard after last week’s Foxtrot, which means he will have a lot of ground to cover if he wants to stay in the competition (granted I’m not even counting fanbase votes). When it comes to the Jive, he seems to have a lot going for him between his age group and his partner, both ranking in the top half. However, for some reason singers have crazy trouble with the dance in the first third of the season… and being singers that are suppose to know how to keep time… why? Knowing all this, I’d say his predicted score should be fairly close to the real thing… strongly in the middle of the pack.

DONALD DRIVER
Dance: Quickstep
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.792
– Occupation: 22.000
– Professional Partner: N/A (one time pros average: 22.000)
Predicted Score / Rank: 22 / 3rd
Comments: Donald seems to have a lot going for him in regards to how he should do on the Quickstep. Every NFL player that has done the Quickstep in the first third of the season have scored at least a 20. Add to that his age group (30s) and his score inches up a bit… unfortunately Peta has yet to do a Quickstep on the show… so looking at other female pros that have been on the show once it would seem that the Quickstep isn’t a bane either… so I would say that the predicted score is about par for the course based on the limited data available. My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
