On to part 3!! Where everything became “supersized”. š Be sure to watch part 1 and Part 2 so you can get the full history.
Season 13 – JR and Karina. I remember not being overly impressed by this one at the time, possibly because I saw so many moves that I had seen in Derek’s previous dances, not that they belonged to him or anything. But in retrospect, it’s quite good and it’s certainly the best of the season. Loved the ending bit the most. š Read more..
I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
At Parade.com, James Maslow writes about this past week’s Jive with Peta and rehearsals leading up to it. He pulled some muscles in his hamstring, so, it made rehearsing that much more difficult. He also talks of the Switch Up dance this week and what he thinks he needs to do next to get a “10” from the judges. More below and at Parade.com.
Weāve got a couple more tricks left, but if I want to stay in this competition. I think Iāll need to do something new and exciting in order to get a 10 from the judges. I think itās going to take a combination of really perfecting technique, performance, and difficult choreography. I think we had most of those factors last night, but obviously technique wasnāt perfect and I think that as the weeks go on Iām going to continue to get better and hopefully have something that moves the judges. And that might take a more emotional piece over a high-energy piece, they seem to really enjoy those.
Going into the switch this week, for the most part Iām just going to try and do my best and hopefully have a conversation with whoever my dance partner is today and say, ālook, I know this score doesnāt help you out, but please do your best to make it a killer dance.ā And I think they will, because I donāt think they want to look bad ever, so that works to my advantage. Strategy is just to work as hard as I can and hopefully get what I need from them, and if not, work extra time on my own. I have no clue who Iām dancing with yet, or what the dance is, but Iāll tweet about it unless they tell us otherwise.

Well, the blogs are rolling right along. Peta Murgatroyd writes about James Maslow and the new changes on Dancing With The Stars at People. Also, below is an interview in their rehearsals. Note how they mention the Switch Up dance is in week 4 and after that they are hoping fans vote for them to be back together afterwards. More below.
ETA: If you head to Home and Family, you can view James and Peta in a new segment for the show that is airing today. Really cute.

This is Lori! That Switcheroo Thingy is upon us already and I am DREADING it!!!!!Ā I don’t want it to happen, but it’s going to happen!!!
Apparently, the viewers are going to vote after the first elimination, for the Switch to happen (I am guessing) in week 3.Ā And I am going to guess that TPTB are still trying to decide how they’re going to work it.Ā Knowing them, they’re screw it up.Ā Here is what what we know about the switcheroo, make sure you read if you’ve not already.
Anyway, since we are going to be STUCK with it, I thought we could take the time to share how WE would match them up.Ā For our purposes, we will ignore the elimination, and just match all 12 celebrities to a pro, and since I don’t know how they’re planning it, I’m adding the Troupe in also.
Here’s the Celebrities:
Danica
Amy
Candace
NeNe
Diana
Meryl
Charlie
Cody
James
Billy Dee
Sean
Drew
Here’s the Pros:
Cheryl
Karina
Witney
Emma
Sharna
Peta
Lindsey
Jenna
Derek
Val
Maks
Tony
Mark
Henry
Sasha
Artem
So…. YOUR job now is to rematch the celebrities to a different pro, and unfortunately, ALL must be rematched.Ā How would you do it, and why would you make the choices you did?
Here are mine. I picked two same sex couples, but, that doesn’t mean that the couples can be same sex or not for what they have planned.
1.Ā Amy and Henry.Ā I want her to stay with Derek, but since she can’t, I figured he is closer than the other choices.Ā Or Sasha.
2.Ā Diana and Cheryl, because Diana said she wouldn’t mind dancing with Cheryl.
3.Ā Drew and Derek, because I liked that ad, and I’m sure that both Drew and Derek can come up with a creative dance full of humor.
4.Ā Charlie and Karina because she is a top choreographer.
5.Ā Candace and Val.Ā No real reason, I just would like to see how he would work with her.
6.Ā NeNe and Maks just to see if there’s fireworks
7.Ā Meryl and Mark because he’s shorter than Maks.
8.Ā Danica and Artem just to see what he can do, since I’m not familiar with him.Ā I figure one week might be fine.Ā Or Sasha.
9.Ā Sean and Peta would make a gorgeous pair.
10. Cody and Emma because she’s young, and I’d love to see what she can do with a young partner
11. James and Sharna would make another gorgeous pair.
12. Billy Dee and Tony.Ā This was BY FAR the hardest pair for me.Ā I wanted to keep BDW with a female partner, but the ones I had left, I felt were just too young to pair with him, and I didn’t really want to shuffle the others around.Ā Tony’s always done well with older partners, so I chose Tony…. With a lot of hesitation.
Parade has a fun new interview with James Maslow. He discusses Dancing With The Stars and what his first rehearsals have been like, what he thinks of his parter Peta Murgatroyd, what the first week on the show will be like, and much more.
How are practices and rehearsals going?
āSo far, so good. The foxtrot is my first dance and it was a little daunting the first few days. Now theyāre starting to change things up. Itās not easy, itās something Iāve never done before, but Peta [Murgatroyd] is a great instructor. Iām lucky to have her and weāre getting it together.āWhat is the most challenging part of training so far?
āJust connecting all the dots. We work on the basics: footwork to start, then work on frame and posture, which is very important for the foxtrot, apparently. The second piece is where the head needs to go and where youāre looking. It might seem simple individually, but putting it all together and staying in time and doing it with someone else still while as the man Iām supposed to be leading itāthatās obviously the challenge. But if it wasnāt, it wouldnāt be a fun show to watch.ā
What can fans expect when you and Peta hit the ballroom next week?
āI think a lot of people will be blown away, as they are with many of the athletes, actors, and musicians who do this show, because you donāt see all of the rehearsal. You see little bitsāIām sure theyāll show us stumbling or falling when youāre learning things, but then you see the final product and itās pretty amazing. Looking back at some of the iPad videos weāve been taking so we can critique ourselves and weāre pretty psyched about it. Weāre like, āI donāt look bad, I look like I know what Iām doingā and thatās me doing the process and seeing it everyday.ā
Can’t wait to see! More at Parade.
