Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FOUR – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Theme of the week: Most Memorable Year….or some such thing. I expect to need tissues at least once. This can be either good….or very bad. 😀

Holy crap!! That was quite a start to the show!! And of course, Len picks it apart. No character of the dance? Spare me the narrative. I guess he got the producers notes.

LOL…I swear that Bruno ALWAYS does what he can to counteract Len. Happens all the time. 🙂

Man, why did they go back to this way of doing the elimination?? Sucks.

Robert and Kym are safe, Riker and Michael are in jeopardy. Bites. Poor Peta looks like she might puke. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FOUR – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Grab ya kleenex and get ready for “Most Memorable Year” Week. :::sigh::: Anyone else remember the good old days when every single week didn’t have to have a theme?? I do.

Anyway, Vogue has been a workin’ fiend as per usual and the info we have so far on the dances comes from her Massive Media Roundup post….or in Sharna’s case, her blog. Mark and Willow’s dance is from something he said on Afterbuzz, which Vogue will put up as soon as she gets it.

And hey – at least they’re not all Rumbas.

ETA: Apparently it’s okay if someone other than us spoils the songs. Really ABC – Just Jared is a better option? Funny how no one cared about the songs until we started spoiling them a few seasons ago. Humph. Michael’s song already feels heart wrenching. Nastia’s song is so perfect for an AT that I wonder if it was her idea. I wonder about Chris’ also.

ETA2: Finally got Suzanne’s and Riker’s dances nailed down. According to Courtney, they could have gone several ways with those particular songs.

Nastia and Derek – Argentine Tango (Song: “Variations on Dark Eyes” by Lara St. John)
1-855-234-5604
Dancing 1st

Rumer and Val – Waltz (Song: “Turning Tables” by Adele)
1-855-234-5610

Patti and Artem – Jazz (Song: “Dan Swit Me” by Patti LaBelle)
1-855-234-5606

Willow and Mark – Contemporary (Song: “Atlas” by Coldplay)
1-855-234-5612

Chris and Witney – Rumba (Song: “The Book of Love” by Gavin James)
1-855-234-5602

Michael and Peta – Rumba (Song: “Not My Father’s Son” from “Kinky Boots”)
1-855-234-5603

Noah and Sharna – Contemporary (Song: “American Soldier” by Toby Keith)
1-855-234-5605

Robert and Kym – Waltz (Song: “The Last Waltz” by Engelbert Humperdinck)
1-855-234-5609

Riker and Allison – Tango (Song: “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon)
1-855-234-5608

Suzanne and Tony – Foxtrot (Song: “Three’s Company Theme” by Dominik Hauser)
1-855-234-5611

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week Three – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Well, I don’t know about you all, but in this saga known as DWTS, I fully expect Rumer to get a tongue bath whether she deserves it or not, and Nastia/Riker/Willow (or any combination thereof) to get relentlessly nitpicked over something stupid…most likely something they have little control over, like music…in order to make sure the leaderboard changes up again. Anyone willing to take that bet?? 😀

Very nice opening pro dance!!

Already prepping the audience for leaderboard switchup.

What monkey dreamed up Disco Salsa, not that it will matter. Loved her outfit this week and the dance was very good. It was just so weird. Read more..

The Dancing Poetry Corner – Jammin’ At The Jamboree

I thought I would share with you how I craft these poems. I take them very seriously, mapping them out beforehand. I work on a legal pad dividing each pair up in sections, including opening numbers, etc. I re-watch the show taking copious notes so it is refreshed in my mnd. I do research if I need to. I often search for synonyms and new ways to express things. I try to keep them close to the theme of the week. I coin words and phrases such as I did in last week’s poem, Mandy Moore-tastic, to emphasize a certain part of the show. I take it and soar into my mind picking my brain for ideas to be creative. Poem titles can come way beforehand. Or as I’m writing the poem. I sometimes come up with ideas as I’m falling asleep, in the shower, anywhere. They have been really fun to do. I hope you are enjoying them. So happy for any comments!

Jammin’ At The Jamboree

The Ballroom was in a frenzy, Jammin’ At The Jamboree
The atmosphere was electric, so much fun for us to see

The dancers were on fire, all were in a Jumbo Jam-A-Thon
Wishing the dances were on view on a Jumbo Jam-A-Tron

The night ebbed on and a special surprise was filling the air
A lady serving her country returned with love and with care

The songs were chosen with special meaning to each pair
The time came to dance, their stories with us ready to share

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 2 – Power Rankings

Pleasantly surprised this  week – not only with the scoring and the judging, but with the fact that, for the 2nd week in a row, there were no “phone-ins”: every last couple came out and gave it their all, even if it didn’t quite pan out the way they planned (sorry, Chris).  Judging seemed pretty consistent and the scores seemed to match the critiques – one would think this should happen EVERY week, but it’s becoming more and more of a rarity these days…so for tonight, I am happy 🙂 But that could change next week…

Somewhat sad to see Redfoo & Emma go, but I’ll just leave it at this: I think staying in the competition would have potentially been quite stressful on both of them, as I think they may have forgotten to have fun a few times in rehearsal this week.  Ultimately, though, Foo went out on a pretty high note – he was definitely the most improved from last week to this week, and he did show some serious potential…although I think he probably would have struggled just to get the votes week after week, because I just don’t see too many middle-aged, conservative-leaning housewives being huge LMFAO fans 😎

1.) Nastia & Derek – I think Rumer & Val may have gotten a bit of a gut check after watching this dance – they ain’t the only ones who want that trophy 🙂 This was a great, almost technically-perfect rumba – Nastia’s got the lines and the feet and the arms and the posture and the extension.  Here’s the problem I have: she seems to have a lot of walls up, and the chemistry between she & Derek was almost non-existent.  I guess the best way I could describe her facial expressions is “girl who has never been kissed and doesn’t quite know whether to close her eyes or keep them open” 🙂 And another observation: I think Nastia may be an unfortunate sufferer of “resting bitch face” – I think her neutral face is just so serious and calm that it may come across as a tad standoffish…and I wish I had some advice for her on that, but some people just aren’t as smiley as others.  Maybe stand in front of a mirror and practice smiling? I dunno 😛 Hoping Derek can work with her on emotional connection, because the technique is there – she just needs to get a tad more vulnerable. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week THREE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Okay, we’re trying something new. We’re putting this up on Tuesdays and updating as we find out information – as long as we’ll get no one in trouble, that is. 🙂 Note that next week is Latin Week. Below are some of the dances. Be sure to check out our Media post for new interviews.

ETA: ABC has released show information for March 30th. Listed below are the new songs for each couple. Be sure to read the link. It has some fun info on the opening number.
