Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Pro Reveal To Take Place Feb. 11th On GMA, Rob Wade Talks To People

Executive Producer of Dancing With The Stars, Rob Wade, talked with People about the new season. Below is a take where he talks of the return of Len Goodman and Erin Andrews. Note how he mentions that the Pro Reveal will take place next week on Good Morning America.

Wade also hints that maybe it’s too soon to prepare for Len Goodman’s departure after the spring season. In December, the senior judge told reporters that traveling back and forth to England has become too overwhelming.

“He says, ‘Let’s see how it goes,’ ” says Wade. “It depends on the health of his mother and how he feels personally about the travel. There’s a good chance he might miss a lot of all next season, but I don’t know though. I think there’s a chance he’ll decide to come back next spring when Dancing with the Stars in the U.K. is not going on.”

And while Leah Remini may have been a hoot as a guest host in the skybox last season, Erin Andrews will stay put as Tom Bergeron’s co-host this year.

“You can get away with having a guest host for one-offs, but there is a lot of business to this live hosting stuff that’s kind of unique. You need a person who has the ability to do that. It’s pretty challenging, that job, and it’s quite thankless. Leah did a great job, but you need a common denominator going though there.”

Dancing with the Stars will reveal the season 10 pros Feb. 11 on Good Morning America. The stars will be introduced later this month in time for the show’s March 16 return on ABC.

ADDING: And isn’t this an interesting comment….

Executive Producer Rob Wade told PEOPLE that the departure of Cheryl Burke to NBC and Derek Hough’s show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall shouldn’t change the dynamic of show that will return to ABC for a 20th season in March.

“There is still a huge amount of fan favorites we can bring back,” said Wade, who’s reached out to Anna Trebunskaya, Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus and Louis van Amstel, among others, about returning this season.

I like the pros above, but, none of them are “Derek Hough” in my opinion.

Rob Wade Talks On Who Is Staying And Who Is Leaving Dancing With The Stars, More Finale Interviews

There has been much speculation about Cheryl Burke and whether she will be back on the next season of Dancing With The Stars. According to Executive Producer Rob Wade, she’s decided to exit the show. Tuesday night was her last night. Below is more from The Wrap. Note that he also says Len Goodman and Julianne Hough will be returning to judge full time next season.

ETA: You can read more with Rob Wade at this link. He talks about ratings, his vision for the 10th anniversary, and more.

Wade feels that the popular pro’s exit gives the series a chance to highlight other dancers.

“We’ll only survive as a show if we keep innovating and changing. It’s very sad to see cast members leave, but again that gives you the opportunity to grow. So, I’m quite positive about having the opportunity to bring new people in or bring back some of the old faces.”

Additionally, head judge Len Goodman, who took a several weeks off this past season due to conflicts with shooting the show’s U.K. version, will be back full-time on Season 20. And although there’s some scheduling conflicts still to be resolved, Julianne Hough is also contracted to return in the spring to the judges’ table.

“A judging panel isn’t about individuals. It’s about chemistry. That has happened remarkably quickly for Julianne in that role,” Wade said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

“I think the ballroom experience and the dance experience and the star quality and vibrancy that Julianne has brought to the panel has been exceptional,” he continued. “I also think that the way that Carrie Ann [Inaba], Bruno [Tonioli] and Len have embraced her and have individually been so great this season, as well, has been wonderful. I think it shows their character that they can do that. The three of them have been absolutely wonderful in welcoming Julianne in and I think it has been lovely to watch.”

Sad, I’m going to miss Cheryl. I hope she changes her mind…especially for my Dad’s sake. For the full article, see The Wrap. Thanks to Lisa for the heads up on this news. Below are some interviews with The Wrap from last night as well….

More Details On How Dancing With The Stars Will Be Aired Tonight, Rob Wade Comments

On Friday, ABC released some show details for how Dancing With The Stars will be aired tonight in terms of the level of interactivity. ABC.com will be offering five live streams from key positions at the show venue, allowing fans to choose views of the Red Room, judges, sky box, a wide angle of the dance floor and a hosted feed that will highlight relevant social media conversations. Below is more information from USA Today and Executive Producer Rob Wade. This is going to be cool and it’s going to be fun to see Lacey Schwimmer again too. Pic above courtesy of Mandy Moore.

During the premiere, ABC.com will offer four live-streaming backstage cameras and a simultaneous digital show called Dancing with the Stars: All Access hosted by Dominic Bowden and Lacey Schwimmer. The live streams are meant to be consumed as a second-screen complement to the television broadcast.

“You’ll see a lot of the stuff that happens backstage during the show and during the commercial breaks,” said Dancing with the Stars executive producer Rob Wade. “Really what you see on the show is only half the story so we felt like it was something that really gave you all-access to our cast.”

The backstage cameras will feature views of the judges, skybox, backstage Red Room, and the lower balcony. Online viewers will be able to choose which camera to stream. The simulcast digital program will feature commentary and interviews during commercial breaks as well.

In addition to the live streams, viewers will be able to keep tabs on couple’s rehearsals throughout the week. Raw rehearsal footage as well as original digital content will be uploaded to abc.com every week.

New Executive Producer Rob Wade To Shake Up Dancing With The Stars Pro Roster?

What an interesting “scoop” from Kristyn Burtt last night. She reports that Rob Wade, the new executive producer of Dancing With The Stars, has met with “all the talent” this summer….even those with long time contracts that we haven’t seen before. Could this mean a shake up of new pros? Take a listen and then see a new question for you after the video….

So, if they were considering hiring some pros from the past, who do you hope that would be?

First of all, GLEB SAVCHENKO!! Please bring him back!! I’d love to see Julianne Hough and Kym Johnson return as well. I also liked Anna Trebunskaya, Lacey Schwimmer, and Edyta Sliwinkska too! And remember Sonny Fredie Pedersen? I thought he was excellent in the troupe. He recently caught up with Sasha Farber and says he will see him soon.

And speaking of Gleb and Anna, they are very much out there dancing. Here’s a new video of them getting ready to dance at the Vail International Dance Festival. *sigh*

Simon Cowell as a Guest Judge on MY DWTS?? New Interview with New EP Rob Wade

Not on my DWTS, please. He’s one of those guys who thinks he knows everything about everything but really doesn’t know all that much about anything. But hey, if you’re hot, you’ll be a hit whether you can sing…I mean dance, or not. But really – how funny would it be if Simon got to be Guest judge and Maks didn’t?   From The TV Page:

Usually when they bring a new boss into a show it is so they can shake it up…
Yeah, but this time it is not.  The show did really great last season.  Quite early on in the season, Conrad who was the EP decided to leave.  He had done 18 seasons.  He decided he wanted a new challenge.  So in this case the show is doing great and we have to be really respectful of the format.

So how are you going to put your stamp on the show?
Look, viewers love the show.  I would be a fool to go in there and say, “I want to put my stamp on this.  I am going to go in there and shake things up.”  But there are a couple of significant changes that I am in the process of making that I think people will notice.

How many judges do you think will be on the panel?
For the moment, we are looking at three.  There is a possibility for a fourth.  We are talking about that possibility.  But we have to see.  I think you have just got to get the right mix of people.  I think Bruno (Tonioli) , Len (Goodman) and Carrie Ann (Inaba) are brilliant.  Certainly wouldn’t lose any of them…

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Rob Wade Tapped As New Executive Producer For Dancing With The Stars

A quick and important update! Deadline is reporting that Robe Wade has been tapped to be the new executive producer for Dancing With The Stars.

Rob Wade has been tapped to take over as showrunner of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars starting with the next 19th cycle, which has not been formally picked up but is fully expected to. Wade, a DWTS veteran, will succeed Conrad Green, the show’s executive producer/showrunner since its launch, who is departing after the 18th season finale next month to join new Fox series Utopia as executive producer. Wade was a producer on DWTS for the first 11 seasons, including a stint as co-executive producer under Green from Season 5 in 2007 to Season 11 in 2010. “Rob was a part of the DWTS family from the very beginning and in our mind, there was no one who made more sense to come aboard and take the show into its next era than him,” said Jane Tranter, head of BBC Worldwide Prods., which produces DWTS. Wade will serve as executive producer alongside Ashely Edens-Shaffer and Joe Sungkur. “Dancing with the Stars is in great shape and I look forward to getting back in the ballroom and working with Joe and Ashley to take it to the next level,” Wade said.

Sounds good to me. What do you think?? To read more, see Deadline. Thanks to Lisa for the heads up!
