Dancing With The Stars Season 25 Disney Night Teasers – Interviews and More

How about some Disney Night teasers for tomorrow night on Dancing With The Stars? Thanks to Idolxfactor1 for the help with this post.

DWTS Season 25, Week 4 – Dancing by the Numbers!

You really want me to believe that SIX couples all got a 24 on the same night?? That’s utterly ridiculous.

I also am having a hard time with a top three that consists of Jordan, Lindsey and…Victoria?? Very nice girl and all, but in no way was she a point ahead of Lindsey and 3 points above the rest of the pack. Makes you wonder if she’s in a bit of trouble. I don’t find her much more memorable than Sasha, sad to say. And the producers are certainly more invested in Val than they are Gleb, for some strange reason.

Now that you mention it, Frankie, Jordan, Lindsey and TO were the ones that are still sticking with me several days after the show aired. Not a great sign for the rest, I must say. Drew and Nikki are up there as well – and kudos to Artem and Emma for making sure that their celebs don’t fade into the woodwork. Neither is coasting and both are doing some good work here. Both did a brilliant job showcasing their celeb and doing something to get the audience talking. They are not coasting.

That doesn’t mean they’ll be safe…but I do think that Jordan, Lindsey and Victoria are our “safe” ones this week.  What does the leaderboard look like? Well, like I was saying – pretty damn simple.

So, Nick is the low man on the totem pole.  And there are 6 people above him all with the same score. The question is: does Nick have the ability to get enough votes more than any of that 6 to be safe? What kind of votes are we talking about?

So, Nick needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than the 6 people immediately above him on the leader board – Frankie, Nikki, Sasha, Vanessa, Drew and TO.   Question is: does he have the juice to beat any of those people?

I’m thinking there are one or two that he might be able to pass. I know I called Sasha as the one to be eliminated last week and nothing has changed to make me thing she’s any safer this week. Nikki is the only other one in that group that I feel like could be in danger.

Thing is, when someone is put in jeopardy it can go one of two ways. Typically (or as of the last time I studied it), if you are put in jeopardy, it means that you’re not long for this world. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule. But Nick’s problem is that he’s been there more than once – so it’s only a matter of time, IMO, before he’s gone. But the producers putting you in jeopardy does often stimulate votes. Is that working this time? Hell if I know. 😉

At the end of the day, I think it comes down to Nick, Sasha and Nikki. One of those three isn’t long for this show.  We already know that Nick needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than the group above him, but what about that group? Who is most likely to be safe??

Well, I don’t think there is any way that that group gets 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than Lindsey. But they don’t have to – they only need ONE more vote per million to be safe over the others in their group.  So, out of Frankie, TO, Vanessa, Nikki, Sasha and Drew, who are the kids getting the votes? Well, I think Frankie and Drew always were getting the votes. I think, after last week, TO is getting the votes for a while longer. He sure won me over. That leaves us with Vanessa, Nikki and Sasha. I think Vanessa is doing fine – she’s only in trouble if crazy fans decide that Maks is very upset to be dancing with her…or vice versa. I feel like she’s still good for a bit.

Once again, we are left with Nikki, Nick and Sasha – honestly, I feel like Nikki is safe and it’s going to come down to Nick and Sasha. But your guess is as good as mine.  For Nikki to be safe she needs ONE of the following things to happen:

  • Nikki needs for Nick to NOT get the 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than her, OR;
  • Nikki needs for ONE of Sasha, Vanessa, TO, Frankie and Drew to NOT get ONE more vote per million votes cast than her, OR;
  • Nikki needs 7,400 more votes per million votes cast than Lindsey.

And so on. That last one is unlikely to happen, but I can certainly see Sasha not getting more votes than her. And if Sasha is, is Nick getting the 7,400? I have a hard time believing that he still has that kind of fanbase.  My gut is saying that Nikki is safe.

Which leaves us with Nick and Sasha. Nick and Sasha, Sasha and Nick.  No idea. One part of me is saying that Nick is finally done, but Sasha is just such a non-event for me. Nick is too, but he’s memorable in his badness, not to mention that he’s getting double the screen time of everyone other than his wife. That being said, the show probably can’t support three fam members beyond week 5 and the fam fans are more likely to go with Maks and Val over Peta. Mores the pity.

I kinda feel like Nick is done…but ask me again in 5 minutes and it will be Sasha. If it’s either one of those two, I’ll call this week a win for me. If not, well, it’s just impossible. 🙂

DWTS Season 25, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Disney Week – another theme that, to me, seems like it can go either way. And honestly, some of these selections seem…weird. I couldn’t find the press release, but this is what a Disney fan site has…but it seems legit.

Winners: Lindsey/Mark, Jordan/Lindsay and Drew/Emma all got good dance style with highly recognizable and/or current songs. I’m already dying to see what Mark will do with his song. I also think Cheryl will do something fun for TO.

Losers: Once again, Nikki kinda gets hosed with a song from a movie that hasn’t even been released yet.

The Jury is Out: Nick got a great song, but I’m doubtful that he can do it justice. Frankie and AT?? I’m cautiously optimistic. Sasha should have a great combo, but I’m no longer confident that Gleb can give her something memorable…and she desperately needs it. Victoria and Vanessa?? Eh.

ETA: Apparently, Val couldn’t find a way to do a Charleston so it’s been changed to Jazz.  Remember how the judges always claim that all the contestants have to be judged the same regardless? Yeah, right.

ETA2: Here’s the Dance order per George Pennachio…Go Nikki closing the show!! I would like to think it means something, it likely has to do with set pieces on a night like Disney night.

Victoria Arlen and Val – Jazz (Song: “Steamboat Willie” from Steamboat Willie)
Dancing 1st
1-800-868-3413

Vanessa Lachey and Maks – Waltz (Song: “Un Jour Mon Prince Viendra” from Snow White)

Lindsey Stirling and Mark – Foxtrot (Song: “When You Wish Upon A Star” from Pinocchio)
Dancing 3rd
1-800-868-3407

Nick Lachey and Peta – Quickstep (Song: “Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book)
Dancing 4th
1-800-868-3408

Drew Scott and Emma – Viennese Waltz (Song: “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie)
Dancing 5th
1-800-868-3404

Sasha Pieterse and Gleb – Rumba (Song: “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid)
Dancing 6th
1-800-868-3410

Terrell Owens and Cheryl – Quickstep (Song: “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from Lion King)
Dancing 7th

PureDWTS Season 25, Week 4 – Power Rankings

Sometimes, I hate being right ☹ I was really starting to think that my “Derek as a shield for Nick” theory was just me being paranoid and trying to find an explanation for the judges being irrational (note: they’re just irrational) and constantly giving Derek a hard time, but it was a bit like watching a slow-motion car wreck as they announced the couples in jeopardy last night – it was like watching my theory unfold and realizing I was maybe not as crazy as I thought I might be.  I’ve gotten poo-poohed by some that insist that Derek “wasn’t that great” (suit yourself, but he was definitely better than Nick, and often cleaner than both T.O. and Drew – all of whom are still in the competition) or that it was “just a coincidence” that they both received the same score each week until last night (when TPTB already knew Derek was a goner) – but if you sit down and actually think about it, it is rather odd that the two of them managed to get the same score FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, especially given that Nick is arguably considered to be the worst dancer left this season.  And if Nick is struggling with votes & scores, remember – he only has to beat one person to stick around…and if that person has the same number of points that Nick does, but maybe doesn’t have as big a fanbase…Nick & Peta survive another week as half of quite possibly the most annoying gambit TPTB have thrust upon us in DWTS history: Chmerlachey ☹

And while we’re on the topic of Chmerlachey – anyone else think that their efforts to make the two married couples “happen” have really kind of blown up in their face? 😛 I got the impression that they were hoping to have viewers really glom onto the two pairs and send them through to the finals – but at this point, Vanessa & Maks seem like they’re just barely tolerating one another after last week’s drama, Nick seems completely checked out and ready to go home, and Peta just seems like she’s trying to avoid getting hit by any crossfire and is quietly trying to blend into the background. The only one who seems like they’re (sort of) having fun is Vanessa, and even her smile is starting to look a bit brittle. The PenaVega’s may have been low-key annoying – but at least both were decent dancers and seemed to be having fun. Chmerlachey X 2…is just a dumpster fire. On the flipside, I don’t think TPTB anticipated Frankie managing to both connect with viewers as well as he has while also turning out to be a pretty good dancer; and to a lesser degree, I don’t think they quite know what to do with Terrell, as he’s actually turning out to be rather interesting to watch and perhaps not as much of a lightning rod for controversy as TPTB might have hoped. Drew also seems to be turning into a halfway-decent dancer on top of being popular, and Sasha the ABC darling, bless her heart, is about as exciting as watching paint dry.  With next week being the midpoint of the season, I think we may start to see a narrative shift, depending on where the votes are falling.

Hated losing Derek, because I did genuinely enjoy him – he seemed like he was down-to-earth and grateful for the opportunity, and I did love the choreography that Sharna was giving him. Loved their dance last night – was a refreshing approach to a very touching story, having them dancing in such a celebratory manner, to an upbeat song.  The styling of the choreo reminded me a bit of the styling of Alfonso’s Carlton jazz; I thought the costumes were adorable.  And for once, I managed to avoid tears during most memorable year week…that is, until the camera panned to Derek’s daughter crying after his dance.  Then the damn dust in my house kicked up, and things got rough. I need to change my furnace filter… Read more..

PureDWTS Season 25 Week 4 Media, Recaps, And More After The Dances

I haven’t been able to watch the entirety of Dancing With The Stars last night, but, I continue to be amazed at Jordan & Lindsay and Mark and Lindsey! I can’t get enough. Though I was so sad to see Sharna and Derek eliminated. It’s so unfair….I thought for sure it would be Nick and Peta. Nick is lucky and he’s definitely running on thin ice now….

Let’s review the scores….

Jordan & Lindsay 29 (10, 9, 10)
Victoria & Val 27 (9, 9, 9)
Lindsey & Mark 26 (9, 8, 9)
Frankie & Witney 24 (8, 8, 8)
Terrell & Cheryl 24 (8, 8, 8)
Drew & Emma 24 (8, 8, 8)
Nikki & Artem 24 (8, 8, 8)
Sasha & Gleb 24 (8, 8, 8)
Vanessa & Maks 24 (8, 8, 8)
Derek & Sharna 23 (7, 8, 8) Jazz Eliminated
Nick & Peta 22 (8, 7, 7)

FOX411 has a fun interview on Nikki and her fiancé here. Here is a take. I wonder if she will quit wrestling at some point?

Bella’s fiancé John Cena said in a clip that doctors even mentioned the word paralysis! But determined Bella, 33, recovered and was in the ring competing again within seven months.

After the “DWTS” live show, however, in which Bella performed a solid contemporary dance that paid tribute to her WWE success, she admitted to reporters that fellow wrestler Cena has urged her to quit the sport.

“Oh, yeah, he still does,” she said. “He is like, ‘You have your health. Why continue? You’ve done everything you can as a WWE superstar.’ But I don’t believe that. There’s so much more us females can do and I always want to be at the forefront of that.”

DWTS Season 25, Week 3 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Oh boy. We’re in some dangerous territory come this Monday night. I understand (and appreciate) the desire to keep last Monday night light hearted, without any kind of threat of elimination, due to the awful events in Las Vegas, but the margins are so freakin’ close that literally any one of about half the cast could be eliminated, depending on how ardent their fanbase is (or isn’t).  This could get interesting. And that makes it all that much harder to call. I’m batting about 500 right now and I don’t think I’ll improve my stats much on Monday.

FYI, the running order issue from the first three episodes seems to have resolved itself, for this week at least. the average score in the first half of the show was nearly identical to that in the last half of the show (0.33 points difference).  We’ll see if that lasts. It was getting quite annoying.

So, let’s look at what we’re dealing with. Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Week 4 already??? My, how time flies! I guess this means it’s time for “Most Memorable Year”, a week often filled with sob stories, contemporaries and other maudlin stuff. Hopefully it will be uplifting instead of draining this season. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. Ya never know until you get there.

Winners this week: Anyone doing contemporary, except those with a partner who isn’t good at contemporary. 🙂 Nikki and Jordan should be fine….Nick? Hard to say. Last time Peta wanted to do a contemporary she got outside help. Props to her for owning her own weak spot. Sharna also ought to do well with Derek, having Jazz.

Losers this week: Anyone doing a dance with rules competing against all those who have none. Judges have already shown they have no ability to make this distinction when it comes to scoring. That said, those with Foxtrot and Waltz will likely be fine. Drew and Jive?? Has potential to be either a disaster or illuminating that he really has gotten the hang of it. Vanessa and Rumba? Well, I would say that she’ll smash it, but that’s a pretty close dance to do with someone you’re struggling with. Could be very challenging. Read more..
