DWTS Season 10 – The ET Interview…

…with Susan Lucci, Cameron Matheson and Rebecca Budig. I don’t think this particular interview really reveals anything. Cameron clearly uses the word IF on number of occassions. That said, I prefer the “evil” idea of putting her with Maks to see if she could try to push him around. 🙂

For those of you not convinced (or properly terrified of the idea) of Kate Gosselin, I present this (please god false) tidbit of information from Extra:

Giving new meaning to the phrase ‘shake it mama,’ mom of six Kate Gosselin is reportedly lacing up her dancing shoes to compete on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Intrepid entertainment reporter and co-host of Los Angeles’ KEARTH 101’s morning show Lisa Stanley reports Kate is practicing her two step at the famed Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Stanley says the reality show star is “under a shroud of security,” boning up on her bossa nova at the posh hotel.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Costumes…Sparkle and Shine!

Hey Everyone! I’m a new blogger for DWTS so I thought I’d let you guys know what to expect from my blogs 🙂 I will be blogging about the costumes featured on this season and the choreography/technique of the dances and how well (or not so well) each couple performed them! Now that we have that out of the way let me get started!

I absolutely love the costumes that the celebs and pros wear on DWTS and I first wondered how all the costumes got sewn and fitted in time! I googled Randall Christensen, the head wardrobe designer, and found that he only has 3 1/2 days to get costumes made! This has got to be a crazy time during the first weeks of competition since there are so many couples! I also found this AMAZING youtube video interviewing Mr. Christensen about the process:

To me, what makes are great costume is a combination of:

  • Is the material used appropriate for the dance style?
  • Is the costume suited for the celeb and pro as a couple?
  • Does the style of the costume match the style of the dance?
  • Are the sparkle and shine elements right on for the costume or not quite there?
  • Are the accessories perfect for the costume or are they to much or to little?
  • Overall, does the costume compliment the celebrity to showcase their dance strengths instead of their dance weaknesses.

With that said…here are my top 5 favorite costumes and my top 5 train wrecks!

TOP 5 FAVORITES (Season 4 – Present):

  1. Chelsie Hightower and Ty Murray: Season 8

Susan and Tony Going Home – Cody and Edyta Safe

Cody and Edyta were barely saved on tonight’s episode of Dancing with the Stars. Susan and Tony were sent home. At least I can say that America got this right. It would have been really wrong if Cody got sent home while Julianne is recovering.

Lionel Richie sang “Good Morning” John Legend - Evolver - Good Morning while Alec Mazo & Edyta ÅšliwiÅ„ska danced.

Lionel Richie sang “Dancing on the Ceiling” Lionel Richie - 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Lionel Richie - Dancing On the Ceiling while Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson, Tony Dovolani & Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced.

Dancing with the Stars Paso, Foxtrot, ChaCha, Waltz, and Rumba Music

Tonight’s episode of Dancing with the Stars was highlighted by a couple group numbers with 3 couples in each group. I like the little bit of a twist in the show. It was also nice to see Edyta back on the show even if Cody probably really missed Julianne and Julianne really wanted to be on the show (per her mom who I talked to about 30 minutes ago).

Here’s the list of all the music from tonight’s show:

UPDATE: All of the music from Dancing with the Stars will be posted as soon as possible at that link.

It was a sad day for true Dancing with the Stars fans, because Misty May is injured and no longer on the show. Still a ton of great competitors and we have no clue who is really going to win this year. However, I would have liked to see Misty May finish developing herself on the show. I felt like she never broke out in her dancing.

Dancing with the Stars Elimination Show – September 30,2008

Check out Jessica Simpson on Dancing with the Stars. She’s gone country…ok enough of that. The Judges Choice was by far the most memorable dance from last night. I think the black pleather and Kym’s ability to lean back like the Matrix makes the Matrix dance the best.
