Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week FIVE – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Disney week. I can’t say it’s my favorite week. Too much production, too much BS.  But since this season has been remarkably low on all that stuff so far, perhaps I will enjoy it more.  We’ll see. Here’s what the press release says we can expect this week:

For the first time in the show’s history, the opening dance number will take place at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, in a pre-recorded segment and will feature the cast on Main Street, U.S.A. and in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, choreographed by the acclaimed Zach Woodlee (“Grease Live” and “Glee”). During the show, the celebrity contestants and their pros take over the Happiest Place on Earth as they seek inspiration for their dance numbers at Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. One lucky “Dancing with the Stars” couple will even get to travel to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and take the controls of the Millennium Falcon. From thrill attractions to favorite Disney characters and more, this will be a “Disney Night” to remember.

Vying for America’s vote, each couple will dance to a variety of beloved Disney songs including “We’re All in This Together” from “High School Musical,” “Under the Sea” from “The Little Mermaid,” “A Spoonful of Sugar” from “Mary Poppins,” “Beauty and the Beast” from the live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from the live-action “The Lion King,” among others.

In addition, a special dance inspired by new song “Into the Unknown” from “Disney’s Frozen II” will be featured. And special looks from Disney+’s upcoming “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” and live-action “Lady and the Tramp” will be shown.

Here’s who’s dancing which dances…ugh, the first contemporary and jazz of the season. At least Ally and Kate got them, along with Kel. This I can live with. 🙂 What do those whining about Hannah’s dances have to say about that, eh?? That argument no longer holds. Sorry not sorry. Foxtrot should suit her, though. James should do fantastic with the Paso. Conversely, Lindsay is going to have to work a REAL miracle this week. I love her, but I hope it doesn’t happen. Sailor should do well, but I worry about Lauren and Karamo with the Samba. Hopefully their partners get it together for them.

ETA: See below for what is apparently the full song list. Hmmm…Hannah was sitting on Aladdin’s rug with Alan, but she also was shown with a light saber.  And she said “someone” is going to be a princess. I would hope her and not Alan. 🙂  But the Aladdin song and the Beauty and the Beast song are both crap for a foxtrot.  Sailor met Cinderella, apparently, which would imply the Cinderella song.  Ally was also in the Beast’s library – and that song would work for contemporary. And they would so totally make Kate do Mary Poppins. And because the producers are who they are, I’m guessing Karamo gets the Lion King song.  My GUESSES are below.

ETA2: Just saw Lauren’s tweet with mermaids in it. 🙂

Ally and Sasha – Contemporary (“Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast)

Kel and Witney – Jazz (“We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical)

S___ and Lindsay – Quickstep (“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story 4)

Kate and Pasha – Jazz (“A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins)

James and Emma – Paso doble (“He’s a Pirate” from Pirates of the Caribbean)

Hannah and Alan – Foxtrot (“A Whole New World” from Aladdin)

Sailor and Val – Viennese Waltz (“A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella)

Lauren and Gleb – Samba (“Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid)

Karamo and Jenna – Samba (“I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King)

Thanks to R2M in the comments for the heads up on a Disney fansite that claims to have the complete song list – see below:

  • A Whole New World from Aladdin (Zayn and Zhavia)
  • A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella
  • Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid
  • A Spoonful of Sugar from Mary Poppins
  • Beauty and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (John Legend & Ariana Grande)
  • You’ve Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story 4
  • We’re All in This Together from High School Musical
  • I Just Can’t Wait to Be King from The Lion King (2019)
  • He’s a Pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Pure DWTS Season 28 Week 4 – Interviews, Recaps, Scores, Photos, And Extras

What another great show last night!!! Once again, Ally and Sasha were my favorites. I loved Gleb & Lauren, James & Emma, and Sailor & Val too!!! Also, applauds to Leah Remini on her guest judging and mixing things up. I love how she tried to shoot some confidence into those who needed it while scolding the other judges at times if they went too far. In case you missed the show, don’t miss reading how it all went down minute by minute in Miss Heidi’s Live Blog post. Court’s new Power Rankings will be published soon too. So, be on the look out.

Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week FOUR – LIVE BLOG

Well, folks, here we are at week four and the two worst dancers are still with us.  If you could be so kind as to VOTE such that one will be eliminated sooner rather than later, I would greatly appreciate it. I think you know which one. 😉

If you have some time to kill before the show starts, you can read Courtney’s power rankings.  I didn’t do a numbers post this week – seemed like it would be…redundant. If another good dancer is in the bottom, I may do a numbers post just so I have a place to rant.  Anyway, T-minus 30 minutes to show time. Don’t be surprised if I’m a little late – got small children to play with. 🙂

How is it that it went from 91 on saturday to 60 today?? Yeah, I know, Climate change – but I feel a bit robbed of fall. Hopefully the rest of the week is a bit better.

Leah is looking great! Funny as ever.  Len is looking a little red.

“Hey look ma I made it.” Eh. Bruno cha cha-ing out in front of everyone.   Hey, did they wax the opening number to that song? Why? Two fewer stars and they’re afraid of the show running long? Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week FOUR – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Can’t believe it’s week four already!!  Dang, where does the time go??  It’ll be great to see Leah Remini again – who will she smack with the microphone this time? Or her 7 paddle…Here’s what the press release says:

Vying for America’s vote, each couple will dance to a variety of hit and well-known songs including Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” Shawn Mendes’ “If I Can’t Have You,” Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose,” Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” among others.

The show will open with the couples entering the ballroom to “Hey Look Ma, I Made It,” by Panic! At the Disco. In addition, as part of ABC’s “Cast from the Past” week, where iconic TV show and film talent reunite in episodes on the network’s comedies and dramas, “Dancing” season 17 alumni Leah Remini will be a guest judge for the very first time.

I think it’s about time that he who shall not be named get quickstep. Let’s see if he can stomp his way through that one. Don’t forget to vote as much as you can for your favorite. We don’t want a repeat of last season. At least, I don’t. 🙂 Who cares if the show loses another million viewers next season? If there is a next season…

ETA: You know who is dancing first – we’ll know how many votes need to be cast to beat him. It’s unlikely he will go over Lamar, but here’s to hoping.

ETA2: Well, I could’ve sworn he said he was going first, but the lineup below is courtesy of George Pennachio, so….

Ally and Sasha – Jive
Dancing First?

Pure DWTS Season 28 Week 3 – Interviews, Recaps, Scores, Photos, And Extras

What a great night again! I was sad to see Ray having to leave the competition, but, it was for the best so he could take care of his injuries before they got worse. My absolute favorite couple of the night was Sasha and Ally. I love her excitement, but, I had to laugh when grumpy Len told her not to touch him when she wanted to give him high fives. Hilarious. Anyway, below is some fun media and goodies relased after the show and from today too. Also, if you missed Miss Heidi’s Live Blog, be sure to see it here. She’s a hoot as always with her fun commentary. The comments from fans are great too. You can also discuss the night with us in private at this link which also helps to support the site. Look for Court’s new Power Rankings post to be published soon.

So, let’s check out the scores from last night again…..

Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week THREE – LIVE BLOG

T-minus 15 minutes to the Eastern/Central time zones live broadcast of DWTS.   If you are so inclined, you can start voting when we do based on last weeks dances. Don’t tell me you don’t already have one person you want to see stay. That’s right, you’re not voting for the winner tonight, just people you want to stick around for another week. So put on your big girl and big boy pants and VOTE. 🙂 Regardless of where you live.

In case you’ve been tuned out for the last week, like I have thanks to a short vacation, there are several things you can do to catch up. First, Courtney’s Power rankings – do you agree? Vogue has been posting a ton of media, and I’ve done a little numbers retrospective AND posted that it’s very likely that Ray and Cheryl are dropping out this evening due to injury. Whew!!  Lot’s happened in a short period of time.  Oh! And here’s what we THINK the couples are dancing to and when some of them are dancing. 🙂

Here we go….Oh wait, a Direct Insurance commercial starring Tonya Harding?? WTF?

Okay, the promised movie night opening. That was it? so not a big deal. Maybe there’s more. Opening pro dance….Finally Daniella showing that she’s the best dancer on the damn show. So under utilized thus far. Choreographed by Kathryn Burns – better than Mandy Moore, IMO. Read more..

DWTS Season 28, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers Roundup

I have a little bit of time between the end of my vacation and the start of week 3 tonight to do a bit of a round up on what happened with the numbers this week. Now, the surprising thing isn’t really S@$n, but Lamar. S@$n was given some very simple choreo by Lindsay, who happens to be something of a genius, and he didn’t totally screw it up. Is he a good dancer? No, he’s not. He couldn’t even raise more than $3,800 bucks for his lime week one shirt. :::shrug::: But he didn’t make any glaring mistakes. Simple is the key with him. Anyway, much more surprising is Lamar, especially considering S@$n’s score for night two. Check out the vote totals:

Lamar was a solid five points below S@$n when both dances were done and much farther below both Ray and Mary. S@$n was only two points down from Ray and 4 points down from Mary – not nearly the lift that Lamar had to do. Because of S@$n’s score on night two, what was a 5k vote gap became much larger for Lamar. Check it out.

For Lamar to be safe, he did all of the following:

  • He may or may not have gotten 12k more votes per million votes cast than S@$n, AND;
  • He got 16,900 more votes per million votes cast than Ray, AND;
  • He got 21,700 more votes per million votes cast than Mary.

For the rest of the contestants we don’t really know how he did. We’re not sure if he did better than S@$n because both men were safe. Those votes are no joke – and Lamar has had issues in the past, so the fact that he got those votes is doubly surprising. As for S@$n, he didn’t have to work nearly so hard and his safety is no surprise at all, when you look at the numbers.

Seriously, he needed less than 5k votes per million votes cast to be safe over Ray and less then 9.7k to be safe over Mary. Not such a big deal.  Will it continue? Stay tuned, we will see. And I will be voting for his main competition, in addition to my favorites. But if the judges screw the pooch like they did last week, I may just throw in the towel. The whole POINT of having the judges make the final decision was theoretically because they have more sense than the audience (looking at you, season 17) – now I’m not so sure that’s the case.
