DWTS Season 13, The FINALE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, I think this will be the closest finale that we’ve had in a very long time – and also the first in a very long time that I will be happy regardless of who wins. 🙂  Seriously, these three contestants all seem happy as clams to be there, satisfied with however it shakes out and really friendly with each other.  As a result, I expect/hope/pray to see some great dancing on Monday night!!   I’ll just be happy to have a happy show once again. 🙂

Who has the advantage??  Beats me. 🙂  I think JR is the odds on favorite to win, but I don’t know that he has a particular advantage over the other two when it comes to dances and songs.  They all have advantages – and weaknesses.  A lot will depend on what the judges do – if they decide they want JR to win or if they decide to throw it to the viewers.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw it to the viewers, since Ricki is only 0.4 percentage points ahead of JR in average score.  Now, throwing it to the viewers doesn’t necessarily mean that they make a faux tie. I can also easily see all three of these dancers getting similar scores because they danced at close to the same level. I would expect Ricki and JR to be at about the same level, Rob maybe a bit lower.  But it’s possible that he could really up his game.  Just saying now – if the scores end really, really close, it’s not necessarily that the judges copped out – that will be up for debate after the show. 🙂

Not shown below is the Instant Samba that the final two will do after third place is announced. Also, the “Favorite Dance” will be ranked, not scored – first place gets a 30, second 28 and third 26. At that point it is unlikely to have a true impact on the outcome unless someone is way behind and they take first place. Even then, it’s unlikely to have an impact.

Rob/Cheryl
Unlearned Dance – Waltz
Freestyle – Song: “Minnie the Moocher” by Cab Calloway
Favorite Dance (Tues) – Foxtrot to “Fly Me To The Moon” by Frank Sinatra
Phone: 1-800-868-3402

JR/Karina
Unlearned Dance: Cha Cha Cha – Song: “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez (???*)
Freestyle – Song: “Whine Up” by Kat Deluna
Favorite Dance (Tues) – 1st Jive to “Jump, Jive, and Wail” by Brian Setzer Orchestra
Phone: 1-800-868-3410

Ricki/Derek
Unlearned Dance – Cha Cha Cha
Freestyle – Song: “Can’t Touch It” by Ricki Lee
Favorite Dance (Tues.) – Psycho Tango
Phone: 1-800-868-3411

Note: Ask Courtney and I our opinions on JR’s favorite dance. 🙂 Clue – it starts with “bad idea”. 🙂
*Another Note: We know either JR or Ricki has “Let’s Get Loud” – just not sure which. This is our best guess. And yes, both JR & Ricki’s freestyle songs have been used before: JR’s was both Cody & Julianne AND Rick & Cheryl’s samba song, and Ricki’s was the season 11 finale opening dance.

DWTS Season 13, Week 9 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Advantage goes to Hope and Rob this week as both are doing at least one dance (two for Hope) that they’ve already done. Advantage also to Hope in that Len may still have something to prove with his early proclamation that Hope had what it takes to go all the way – he was looking bad there, for a while. 🙂  JR and Ricki, on the other hand, are doing three new dances. I sure do hope their fans vote their butts off.  Ricki is the one in the most danger – three new dances and an injury….although I hear JR also twisted his ankle yesterday and was icing it.  Not good. Between 3 new dances, injuries, Len’s love for Hope and CAI’s love for Rob, one of the two favorites could be in jeopardy.

Rob/Cheryl – Dancing 3rd
Samba (Song: Jump in the Line (Shake Señora)” by Harry Belafonte (???*))
Argentine Tango
Cha Cha Relay (Song: I Like the Way It Feels by Enrique Iglesias)
Phone: 1-800-868-3402

Hope/Maks – Dancing 1st
Paso Doble (Song: Can’t be Tamed by Miley Cyrus)
Argentine Tango (Song: Whatever Lola Wants by Gotan Project)
Cha Cha Relay (Song: I Like the Way It Feels by Enrique Iglesias)
Phone: 1-800-868-3408

JR/Karina
Paso Doble (Song: Spanish Tango by James Horner)
Argentine Tango (Song: Bust Your Windows by Jazmine Sullivan)
Cha Cha Relay (Song: I Like the Way It Feels by Enrique Iglesias)
Phone: 1-800-868-3410

Ricki/Derek
Samba (Song: I Go to Rio by Peter Allen (???*))
Argentine Tango
Cha Cha Relay (Song: I Like the Way It Feels by Enrique Iglesias)
Phone: 1-800-868-3411

Note: Courtney tells me that JR’s AT song was also Evan and Anna’s.  Also that Hope’s AT song was also used by Joanna and Maks, when he filled in for Derek.

*ETA: Like the waltzes last week, we know these are the two samba songs – we just aren’t positive which is Ricki’s and which is Rob’s. This is our best guess. And yeah – they’re both kinda lame 🙁

DWTS Season 13, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So, in some wacky twist, all couples will be doing an instant Jive this week. I wish I knew why. I don’t think it truly benefits anyone other than JR – but it certainly is worse for Nancy and Hope. Theoretically. I think Ricki and JR will likely be fine – everything else is a toss up. 🙂

Note: We don’t have any reason to believe that the Instant Jive is a “group” instant jive as Nancy said. She is the ONLY person saying that right now. Could be one, but we think not.

Rob/Cheryl – Quickstep (Song: Take on Me by Aha)
Dancing First
Phone: 1-800-868-3402

Nancy/Tristan – Tango (Song: The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane by The Ames Brothers)
Phone: 1-800-868-3405

Hope/Maks – Quickstep (Song: Valerie by Mark Ronson)
Phone: 1-800-868-3408

JR/Karina – Slow Waltz (Song: What the World Needs Now by Burt Bacharach – ??)
Dancing 5th
Phone: 1-800-868-3410

Ricki/Derek – Slow Waltz (Song: Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin – ??)
Phone: 1-800-868-3411

NOTE: We know that Natural Woman is one of the Waltz songs, but we’re not sure if it belongs to Ricki or JR – based on the title, we guessed Ricki. 🙂

NOTE 2: By the same token, we *think* JR has the above song. We could have them reversed with Ricki/Derek.

DWTS 13, Week 6 Kristin Chenoweth – What did you think of this performance?

With all the controversy of last night’s show, some of the show is getting lost. What about this phenomenal performance by Kristin Chenoweth and the pros? Huge props to Mark Ballas for the choreography too!! Unforgettable!! Thanks to Evaine and Heidi for this special request!

DWTS 13 Len Goodman Defends Himself! (Video)

Len Goodman sat down with Access Hollywood this morning to chat about the comments he received from Maks last night. He feels after sleeping on it that Maks probably feels bad about what happened. In defending himself, Len feels he is the “biggest defender of the pros” and he has nothing but “admiration” for the celebrities for taking on a dance show like this. He also says he is good buddies with Maks and he understands who he is and that he has a firey way about him. Access Hollywood shows Len a poll they ran this morning where Maks is winning on who was right or wrong. Len agreed with it saying he’d vote for Maks for the win too. 😯 lol Well, I’m glad there are no hard feelings with Len. For whatever it’s worth, I hope both sides learn something from what happened.

DWTS Season 13, Week 6 Interviews After The Dance Part 2 (Videos)

In Part 2 of our interview posts after last night’s dances, we have Carson Kressley on Good Morning America. Carson is calling last night’s show “Max Gate”. LOL!! Carson gets serious and says Maks probably over reacted, but, “he’s Maks” and it’s understandable when you feel the need to voice your opinion in “heat of the moment”. Carson also thinks it’s all “subjective”. He also discusses who he thought danced the best. He’s a hoot as always. More below….

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Louis Van Amstel also reviewed the night in his new blog at ABC. He thinks Ricki, J.R., and Rob are “absolutely safe”. Below are his thoughts on Hope, Maks, and the rant Maks gave to the judges. More at the link for his thoughts on all the other couples more in-depth.

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s Rumba. I love Hope and I think she’s in a difficult position. Somehow, I believe Hope is totally being confused by too many cooks in the kitchen. Hope is trying her absolute hardest, and she did a good job with her legs. I saw a great attempt at personal intimacy. There’s no chemistry between them as a couple, but I believe that comes from the atmosphere during rehearsal. I can so understand why Hope is totally confused. It doesn’t matter how long a celebrity takes, with patience you can achieve so much more. I agree with Carrie Ann. I agree with Len’s comments but, even if I do agree with Len’s comments, it’s a rule the judges can only criticize the pro’s. Boots don’t help a smooth leg action. Bruno, you’re going to tell Maks how to do the Rumba??? Hope, I love your answer to Brooke. Please be yourself and don’t let anyone change who you are. Wow, Maks, I know what you meant to say when you said “it’s my show,” it just came out the wrong way. The scores are a little low. I would have given a 7 and 8.

As a pro, if you talk back to the judges it always makes you look like the bad guy, even if you’re right. I’m not saying I agree with Maks tonight, because I actually don’t. Len never really explained why he said Maks was part of the problem, because he cut Len off. These discussions, in my opinion, are good because this was real. But, often times, Len blurts out statements that are so fabricated. I wish it was always real.

Overall: Ricki, J.R. and Rob are absolutely safe. David is pretty safe. I don’t know how much viewers will let the episode between Maks and the judges influence their votes. Otherwise, I still think Hope is pretty safe. I’m worried for Chaz the most and, if it’s on pure dancing, I’m worried for Nancy. If the audience votes on performance and growth, Nancy will be safe. Tomorrow night is going to be interesting.

And here are the Access Hollywood interviews….

Derek and Ricki chat about their performance and the process they went through to pull it off. Derek gives his thoughts on Maks’ heated words to the judges. He has “two minds” on it being there is a lot of pressure. He said he snapped at the judges once and learned not to do it. He basically thinks it’s best to hold back and roll with the punches since everyone has to take them.

Lacey and Chaz are clearly upset with the judges. Lacey is supporting Maks 100%! (I’m still fuming over Bruno calling Chaz a “penguin”. I agree how it’s not right to criticize what they look like.)

Maks doesn’t regret anything he said last night. Even if he’s wrong in some people’s eyes, he has a right to his opinion for what this Country is about. He thought the judges have been unfair and he said so. Love or hate him, he’s not going to change.

Be sure to watch this video by PopTVDotCom as well. There is a great interview with Tristan in it. Tom and Tony also address the “controversy” of last night. Maks pretty much avoids Henry’s questions when asked on the fight with the judges. I believe Maks is with Daria? She is so beautiful!

Shew, what a night! Here’s to tonight’s results! 😉

DWTS Season 13, Week 6 Interviews After The Dance Part 1 (Videos)

If you are anxious like I am, let’s get right to the new interviews with George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet. He asks the couples on their dances, their progress since week one, and how they each feel on Maks’ rant to the judges!!

First, below is Ricki and Derek with their reactions to their dance and the judges criticisms. Derek says they appreciate and are glad the judges liked their dance last night. Derek explains how much Ricki has improved since the first week and she’s “right on track” for where he wants them to be. Ricki said last night’s dance was her favorite thus far. On Maks, Derek didn’t agree with what he did. They are seasoned professionals and know the show. “Disrespecting the judges is crossing the line.”

Chaz is upset and is as sad as his face looks because of the judges low scores of his dance which he thought were unfair. Last night’s critiques, were “the icing on the cake”. Lacey supports Maks for what he had to say to the judges since he said what a lot of them couldn’t. She also mentions how unfair it is that some people received a “9” who didn’t deserve it while they pick on Chaz.

George asks Maks and Hope on her progress. She thought last night was a “break through” even though no one else thought so. Maks was happy with their dance. Maks talks about his rant. He just wishes the judges were “on the same page with everyone” when they judged. When he was taught to judge in ballroom, he was taught to be fair and judge the people and not their personalities. Hope ends the interview saying she had fun this past week and hope it continues.

Nancy is doing the happy dance after she and Tristan received a “9” and after learning they are in 3rd place. She and Tristan address Maks’comments to the judges. Nancy says when working in the courtroom you had to learn to keep tight lipped when the judges made a decision. Tristan says he understands both staying quiet on it and wanting to defend yourself. “There is no right or wrong on it”. They talk of their progress from week one. They are pleased with her handstand.

J.R. and karina are beyond excited and happy over their two “10’s” last night. They go through their progress since week one and how much J.R. is learning on his journey. If they could redo a dance, Karina would choose the Jive which she thought the judges were too harsh about when they only got “7’s”. J.R. thinks the judges have been fair to him for the most part. What they’ve said, he’s tried to work on.

Rob was as comfortable as he could be “shaking it”. Derek pops in to say and joke that “Rob was robbed” last night. George puts Cheryl on the spot asking her about Maks comments. She says Maks has his opinion and she agrees that it would be nice if they didn’t get criticized for trying to make their partners look good after they’ve worked so hard.

David starts the interview saying he was disappointed on his dance last night. He’s hard on himself, but, Kym and George commend him and his high energy. On Maks, David understands the pressure of the show and how it can make people passionate. He also says a little drama doesn’t hurt a reality show.

More interviews coming up. Stay tuned. 😉

DWTS Season 13, Week 6 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, theme week strikes again – three quicksteps and a mish mash of everything else! Difficult to compare. Hope has rumba, which is of concern since it’s actually more difficult than it appears. Ricki has a rib injury, which could cause problems for their quickstep, although she does NOT appear to be giving up. I have a feeling it will be JR’s night once again and I think David will also do well with the Quickstep.  Carrie Ann will give Rob high marks because her loins will do the talking. 🙂  My pre-dance prediction for elimination will have to be a tie between Chaz and Nancy, with Hope’s odds hinging almost entirely on her package, her dance and her overall attitude.  I’m pulling for her mainly because I think she has more potential than Chaz or Nancy – but like it or not, personality plays a role here.

Common sense says that the Quicksteps would alternate with the rest of the dances, but we’ll see. 🙂 They’ve given Chaz a great spot….or so it appears at first glance. The Group Dance tends to throw everything into disarray. In a two hour show, with only 8 non-pro dances, who knows how it shakes out? Depends on how many pro dances they throw in there as filler. I think I read that Kristin Chenowith is on both Monday and Tuesday as well. Since all the added stuff to the performance show is new to this season (and last?), I’m not sure how it affects running order. I think we’re also getting to the stage of the show where running order no longer plays a huge part in risk of elimination. There just aren’t as many couples. Anyway…

ETA: Now Maks is spoiling songs too?? Heh. I take it a step further and name the song.
