DWTS Season 14, THE FINALE – Who’s Dancing What…and when?

So, for the finals this week, we get three dances over two nights. According to the press release that Vogue found, on Monday night they dance the judges choice dance and then the freestyle. After the show they are handed music for a dance style of their choosing and have the 24-hour challenge to choreograph and learn the dance.

Now, NORMALLY, the judges choice is a dance that the judges feel like they could do better – I’m not entirely sure that’s the case this time around. I bet they give William a dance he did well the first time and Donald one that he didn’t do so well the first time. All these subtle ways of tilting this show in William’s favor just seem to happen every week. Like bringing back Salsa for the first time in several seasons. :::rolls eyes:::

As for the dance order, it really doesn’t matter, but it MIGHT be an indication of how the production feels about the dances. Might. Only time will tell.  I think it’s entirely possible that the edge goes to the couple dancing first in terms of voting, at this stage of the show, since the average viewer is more likely to vote in the finale and they may vote early.  But in terms of best dances?? I think they may put the best one last. I don’t know – I go back and forth. Logically, it seems at this late date, going first helps with the voters, especially if you do a good dance. But much is noticeably different (and not for the better) with the show this season. Unfortunately, this will be easier to judge in hindsight.  BASED on what they did last week, and how I do think that partly affected Maria (in addition to a variety of other factors), I think they will dance in the order below. Keep in mind, that it’s entirely possible that they don’t care who wins, they only cared that certain people got this far.

ETA: It appears my dance order is the correct one for Monday night. Shocker. Not. Also – Paso Doble for Katherine. Thanks to KMark4theWin.

William and Cheryl – Dancing First
Monday Night:
– Judges Choice: Cha Cha Cha
– Freestyle
Tuesday Night: ??
Voting # 1-800-868-3408

Katherine and Mark – Dancing Second

FOOTNOTE:  While I was writing this, I was watching the full length Afterbuzz TV show from Mixology last Monday night and Maria said something that I’ve NEVER heard before, ever. She said the judges see the dress rehearsal. Meaning, they see all the dances before the show goes live.  This is a fairly huge deal, IMO.  The context was very innocent and I don’t think she realized that she was providing some new information for some of us. She was talking about how totally horrendous both of her dances looked on Sunday after a 12 hour rehearsal, that she had neither of them down and that normally she had a full Saturday rehearsal that she didn’t have this past week.  She was very, very upset and down because she was afraid she was going to go out on a low note.  She didn’t think she had time to pull it together because she’s not there till dress rehearsal and “the judges see dress rehearsal because that gives them the landscape of how the show is going to be.”  It was a very off hand comment in her discussion of how bad it was, and how Derek was hurt…she also said both of them were terrified of their Jive because it was so out of the box.  Anyway, this information is a pretty huge deal and it actually goes a pretty long way in explaining some of the wack ass commentary the judges give on the dances.   If a dancer does crap in dress, then does really well on the live show it can go two ways: one, they over rave about it to the point you’re scratching your head because they were expecting LESS, or two, they pan a dance that wasn’t that bad because their opinion was formed during dress and it didn’t get changed either because they didn’t care for the dance or they weren’t paying attention.  Same goes for if they do well in dress and do crap on the live show.  Veerrrry interesting.

DWTS Season 14, Week 9 – The Cheesecake Awards!!

We’re back, after a couple week absence…and some of you will not be happy to see us. 😉  Them’s are breaks…the weeks we missed we’ll pick up as a bit of retrospective cheese once the season is over.

The Award for Biggest Lack of Commitment to Week 9 – The Costuming Department who really screwed Cheryl out of some fringe on her Samba Costume

Heidi: You might ask yourself, “Are ‘biggest’ and ‘lack’ really the two best words to put together?” but really that was what was going through my mind looking at her costume. Yo, dudes, either add the fringe or don’t – you kinda half assed it here, IMO. 🙂 Yep, we’re picking nits.

Courtney: Everything about the show this week was so…blah.  Most of the routines were ho-hum, nobody really said anything interesting, and even the costumes seemed like they were half-assed.  It was as if the costume folks bailed and headed to the bar after only putting half the fringe on her costume.  “Yeah, that’ll do.  C’mon, we can make it for happy hour if we leave now!” Can’t blame them…even I’m bored with the show at this point.

Heidi: Perhaps you and I should win this award. It was pretty damn boring in retrospect. 🙂

The “Most Telling Obsession” Award: Mark Ballas and his fondness for fences

Heidi: Really, dude. You’ve put Katherine in two cages and Bristol in one…is this a comment on how your attitude toward women in general or these two women in particular? 🙂 Or is it just a sexual kink all the way around? 😉 Considering your girlfriend, I’m going with BOTH.

Courtney: I’m sure Freud would have a heydey trying to make something of Mark’s fixation with cages.  Who knows what his true motives are – maybe he wants people to think he’s tough, maybe it makes him feel like he’s in control, maybe he just really wants us to know that he’s very, very into MMA.  I’m just kinda bored with it, to be quite honest.  You know it’s bad when I was actually slightly amused when he put Katherine in a snake basket for their salsa…nice change of pace 😛

Heidi: A cage is a cage even when it’s a basket. 😉

DWTS: How Will Astrology Effect The Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Finalists?

The Stars (in more way than one) are aligned for the Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Finale. What does this mean for Monday and Tuesday night for William Levy & Cheryl Burke, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas, and Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd?

If you’ve been following Pure Dancing With The Stars for the last couple of Seasons, you know that one of my interests in life since my mid teens has been Astrology. I like to use it to help me to understand people and myself more and why we are the way we are. Taking it one step further, it’s even more fun to see what certain signs ‘combined’ together might produce such as what we see in the unions on Dancing With The Stars. So, this season, we’re back again with another Zodiac Edition to study and explore the three remaining finalists in this area. You may have studied Astrology too in some fathom. If so, feel free to elaborate on what you think of these combinations and how it might effect the outcome on Monday and Tuesday night? So, let’s get started….

Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Las Vegas Odds For The Finals (Might Surprise You?)

The Las Vegas Odds makers at Las Vegas Sports Betting have posted their new odds for the Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Finals. Let’s see how they stack up. Last week they put Maria and Katherine in 3rd place with 3/1 odds…and well, you know who went home. 🙁 With the results of the elimination, they’ve done some switching around again and now put Katherine in the number two spot behind Donald in first. They’ve put William Levy in last place which shocks me some. I would think they’d put Katherine in the last spot? Regardless, what a tight set of odds again something I’ve never witnessed before.

New Las Vegas Odds for this week:

Donald Driver 3/2
Katherine Jenkins 7/4
William Levy 19/10

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds:

Donald Driver 7/4
William Levy 5/2
Maria Menounos 3/1
Katherine Jenkins 3/1

Let’s get my Pure Dancing With Stars Sistah’s thoughts to help us understand the odds makers more and be sure to tell us what you think in the comments section as well.

Courtney: At this point, I have just given up on trying to predict who will win or whether the odds are on-target or not…this season has just kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, with all the funny business that is clearly going on.  But all things considered, and using what I’ve seen on Twitter and other places as a barometer, I do think Donald has the best chance of winning – for the simple reason that those who are tired of all the manipulation seem to be tossing their votes to him.  As much as the circumstances that have led to it have sucked, it’s actually kind of nice to see such a sense of solidarity amongst fans of the show – I’ve seen fans of pretty much every eliminated team banding together and pledging to vote for Donald, to take a stand against the pimping of the “Royal Couple”.  So where does that leave William & Katherine? Can’t say I really care a whole lot – as long as William doesn’t win, I think I’d be ok with Katherine winning…not necessarily HAPPY, but ok.  I’m leaning towards Katherine coming in 3rd, and it coming down to William & Donald for the MBT.  I’m fulling expecting The Three Stooges to underscore Donald and overscore both William & Katherine in the finals, but in the end I think Donald has the largest chunk of the voting population behind him – and that’s what truly wins the MBT.  Remember, the judges did everything in their power to make Chelsea Kane a  winner a year ago – and she STILL came in 3rd place.  The judges’ pets have fallen in the past; it’s entirely possible that it will happen again 😉

Heidi: Oy veh.  I hope like hell they’re right. But who the hell knows. Courtney is correct, I see a lot of Derek/Maria fans saying they’ll vote Donald. I think some would vote for Katherine, but they’re afraid she doesn’t stand a chance against the two men. You can say that is a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy…but I happen to agree.  I think it may be as close as shown up above too.  I think back on how positive most were that this was going to be a great season…by the way, this is where I say “I told you so” :- ) …and how we thought the cast was going to be so strong. Well, it really hasn’t turned out that way, if you think about it. That’s all TALK from the judges and the producers, really. Part of that can be laid on having to learn so many dances….but I’ll save that for the Heidi/Courtney/Vogue Season 14 retrospective that will be posted about a week from now or so. 🙂

Performers Announced, Three Dances Outlined, And More In New ABC Press Release For Dancing With The Stars Finale

Who better to perform for the Finale shows than Dancing With The Stars Season 14 contestant and legendary singer, Gladys Knight? The amazing Kelly Clarkson (love her!) is also on tap to perform!! Also, note how the three dances will take place …one being a “24 Hour Challenge” dance on Tuesday!

“Episode 1410 & 1410A” — After 10 weeks of highly entertaining performances and phenomenal dancing, Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas and William Levy & Cheryl Burke have proven they deserve to be in the finals. But only one couple will be crowned champions of “Dancing with the Stars.” The three finalists will have their last opportunity to impress the judges and viewers on two final nights of competition, MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), and concluding on the Season Finale, TUESDAY, MAY 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In the final one-hour performance show on MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), each of the couples will compete in two dances. All three couples will have the chance to show their improvement over the course of the season, performing a dance chosen by the judges that they have previously performed, but will be able to incorporate new music and new choreography. Each couple will also perform the unpredictable and always entertaining no rules Freestyle dance to music they have chosen themselves.

In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, MAY 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), the excitement will continue with a stunning opening number with the entire cast and the Troupe. Tuesday night, all of this season’s eliminated couples will return to the ballroom to perform some of the most memorable routines, as well as a few new surprises, including a special musical performance from Grammy® Award-winning Gladys Knight, who will accompany a dance performance. Grammy® Award-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson will also light up the ballroom singing a medley of her hit songs “Dark Side” and “Stronger,” accompanied by Kym Johnson, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya, Tristan MacManus and the Troupe. And in the final element of the competition on Tuesday, the three finalists perform a new routine in our “24 Hour Challenge” – in which they will have had 24 hours to pair their dance style of choice to music given to them after Monday night’s show. This routine will be scored out of 30 and will round out the judges’ scores across both nights.

Wow, they are making this harder than ever for the contestants this season and does this mean the judges have the final word? No way….not if we all vote like mad. 🙂

Judge Carrie Anne Inaba Picks William Levy To Win Dancing With The Stars Season 14 (Video)

Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Anne Inaba was a guest on Good Morning America today. She talks of what it’s been like to judge Dancing With The Stars Season 14 saying it’s been “the best”. The dancing has been “beyond their expectations” and every week has been “so exciting” and has had a “new energy”. Carrie Anne also discussed how different the judges scoring has been this season from one another. She, Len, and Bruno disagreed the most with Maria and Derek’s Bollywood number. Carrie Anne then breaks down the final three saying Donald Driver has the toughest road ahead of him. Katherine has the best technique. In the end and judging by the audience’s reaction, Carrie Anne thinks William Levy will win since fans “love, love, love” him.

I think Carrie Anne is wrong about William winning and Peta and Donald will show her who’s boss, but, we will see? 🙂

Vote for Dancing with the Stars Season 14 Winner

It’s time for our traditional DWTS poll where you can vote for who you think will be the winner of Dancing with the Stars season 14. Will it be Katherine Jenkins, William Levy, or Donald Driver hoisting the Mirror Ball Trophy and becoming the Dancing with the Stars Season 14 Winner? The interesting thing is that usually in the Dancing with the Stars finale the judges scores are quite close and so it’s really all about the public voting.

Of course, this poll isn’t scientific, but when you look at past results from Pure Dancing with the Stars polls they do quite well. So, vote for who you think will win Dancing with the Stars 2012. Don’t worry about voting over and over and over again. The poll does a pretty good job of filtering out extra votes. It’s not perfect, but luckily we will get enough votes that it should be a pretty good predictor of the DWTS season 14 winner.

Feel free to also share in the comments who you wish was the DWTS season 14 winner or who deserves to be the winner of DWTS 2012.

Len Goodman Weighs In On The Dancing With The Stars Final Three And New All-Star Edition

Dancing With The Stars judge Len Goodman weighs in on the final three and gives his take of the upcoming All-Star Season. William Levy reminds him of himself (LOL!!!! I can’t see it!!). Also, he thinks whoever doesn’t win this season, they should come back for the all-stars. He also thinks they should bring back the one week blunders. Hmmm…not sure about that. Lots more below!

DWTS Season 14 Stats Class: Week 9 Scorecard

Semi-finals week… aka Week 9, by now you should know who is going home… but before we begin let’s look at the scoring breakdown from Monday night’s show.

Yeeeeaaaah, so looking at the actual to predicted scores, Katherine/Mark has the smallest point difference. Whileas with the other three couples, there is a point difference of either 4 or 5 with the largest point difference being Maria/Derek with 5 points.

Looking at this upfront, it would appear that Katherine would be going home, since she is closest to the predicted score, but as we have seen in some of the previous weeks, the couple with the largest point difference could also be going home…

Let’s look at Maria’s scoring progression over the past nine weeks:

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net.
