RUMOR: Shirley Ballas To Replace Len Goodman As Strictly Come Dancing Judge??

The Sun is reporting Shirley Ballas is a favorite to replace Len Goodman on Strictly Come Dancing. Wow, how awesome if true? If it’s true, maybe she will also replace him on Dancing With The Stars when he retires from our version? One can only hope. Many of us have wanted her on the Judging panel for years. Let us know what you think….

DANCING queen Shirley Ballas is the favourite to replace Strictly’s Len Goodman after dazzling bosses at a secret screen test.

The Brit — a former judge on American version Dancing with the Stars — was a “complete natural” during auditions, a source said.

She even outshone job rivals, show favourites Anton Du Beke and Brendan Cole, who also tried out.

Sources said producers are keen for a woman to join the panel alongside old hands Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

Last week’s try-outs at the Strictly studios in Elstree, Herts, also saw turns from ex-pro Karen Hardy and Ireland’s Dancing with the Stars judges Loraine Barry and Brian Redmond.

Chief Strictly choreographer Jason Gilkison screen-tested too.

More at The Sun (though please ignore all the gossipy stuff).

Audience Loving Lesley Ann Warren And DWTS Tony Dovolani In “Dance To The Movies”

Have any of you seen “Dance To The Movies” yet? Currently it’s touring on the east coast. Newsday has a cool article on it and how Lesley Ann Warren and Tony Dovolani are nothing short of amazing together. Below is a take from the story….

“They asked me literally last week while I was on tour in Staten Island if I could do this one, too,” Warren says. “So it should be an adventure because I’ve never done a musical in the round.”

Producer Scott Stander isn’t worried. “The audience goes nuts for her,” he says. “She’s 70, but she still looks like Cinderella. During her first number, the audience always starts cheering.”

More of a challenge, Warren says, has been the hectic touring schedule. “I’ve done Broadway and theater in L.A., but I’ve never gotten on a plane and the next day performed in a city and then gotten on a plane and flown from one coast to the next,” she says. “The performing itself is exhilarating and fantastic, but the traveling is exhausting.”

FILLING OUT THE ‘DANCE’ CARD

In addition to Warren, Stander is happy to have Dovolani touring with the show, especially since he could not perform two years ago in Stander’s previous dance extravaganza, “Ballroom With a Twist.”

“People love his energy and natural ability to connect with the audience,” Stander says.

Tips To Attend Dancing With The Stars In Person – Guest Blog By Christine

Some of you may know Christine Ballart (aka @CBallart at twitter). She’s also a fan to our sites and posts in comments. Recently, she was able to attend the premiere of Dancing With The Stars Season 24. She wrote some tips for anyone wanting to attend the show in person and what to expect. Read on and THANKS Christine!!

Anyone that has gone to Dancing with the Stars in previous seasons knows it’s pretty cool. But, no one has really written a blog about what to expect once you arrive there. I decided to write this blog of my experience for anyone thinking of going to DWTS at a later date. These are basically tips for the day of the show so that it can run smoothly for you while everyone else is confused or running around like a chicken with their heads cut off like I was when I got there.

TIPS:

1. Get there early! Whether you use a wheelchair like I do or not, you should get there early. When you check in at the security gate and they tell you where to go you need to be specific about whether or not you have a wheelchair/walker in your party because they will have you park and then unload and walk to wear you need to go.

2. Once you get to where you were told to go, you will be lined up in different lines and brought in by sections. I do advise that if you need to use the restroom, do so before being let in as there are portable bathrooms outside and there is another bathroom before being let in.

3. You will need to turn in your phone and they will give you a ticket to get it back at the end of the show. Before you turn in your phone, turn it off. I forgot to shut mine off and I got a bunch of tweets/texts during the show.

4. After the show, if you took a cell phone with you, go collect it then immediately leave the premises. There are way too many people around for you to just stand there.

5. Be sure that if someone dropped you off, you designate a pick up spot because of the amount of people coming out of the building from the show.

6. If you are seated next to the dance floor, there will be a dance party before the show. I highly recommend that you get up and dance! It’s so much fun!

7. Keep your eyes peeled for dancers/celebs around the floor and celebs in the audience. Alan was right by me talking to a reporter for a while and the audience had celebs and past pros there.

8. Lastly, Have Fun! Boo the judges when you don’t agree with them! Make noise whenever they tell you too! This was the most fun experience I’ve had in a while and will never forget it!

Another Side Note: If you loved Florence Henderson, there is a star on the dance floor by the judges’ table on Carrie Ann’s side. Go pay your respects. It’s a beautiful tribute to a lovely lady. 

Nancy Kerrigan Writes On Dancing With The Stars Week 6

As always Nancy Kerrigan’s blogs are full of fun details for how she got ready for Dancing With The Stars. This past week felt out of her comfort zone. Read on to see why….

All of this made Thursday a little bit more stressful than previous Thursdays. I was a bit on edge and having some trouble with the choreography but by the end of the day on Friday (after I went with my family to Disneyland for my son Brian’s birthday) I felt like I was a lot closer to knowing the group and individual number so went into the weekend feeling much better.

One thing that is adding to the stress is that the choreography on both numbers is a little – or maybe a lot – suggestive. That is not my style and certainly not in keeping with being a mom, so I have been a little self-conscious when trying to perform the numbers. To deal with that I have to look at it as if I am just acting and playing a role, but already one friend of mine wouldn’t let their kids watch the show because it wasn’t “PG,” so I remain a little concerned that even my own kids will wonder what is going on.

That said, I feel like the costumes for this week are a little more conservative than I was expecting, so that put me at ease a bit.

As always, Monday mornings come sooner than I might like and the 8 a.m. call time meant another long day of hair, makeup, rehearsing, dress rehearsal and then the show and the press line. There were a few changes in the numbers as one of our guys got injured and I didn’t have quite enough time to work with the cage I am using, making me not quite as sturdy and safe as I might have liked. So the morning was a bit of a challenge. But by the afternoon, I felt ready…maybe not quite as ready as past weeks, but enough to feel confident.

More at Team USA including some beautiful photos.

PureDWTS Season 24 Week 6 – Media, Interviews, Scores, And More After The Dances

Another great night of dancing. I was especially impressed with Rashad & Emma, Sasha & Simone, and David & Lindsay. I also liked the Team Dances, but, the Boy Band team did so much better in content and choreo. Speaking of, can I complain about the lack of Pro Dances this season? I wish they’d have a really good Pro Dance every week to add meat to this show. I also super miss photographer Adam Taylor’s stunning dance photos after the show. Not only were they always stunning, he uploaded them in the night right after the show. *cries*

So, let’s review the scores again:

Heather & Maks 40 (10, 10, 10, 10) Eliminated
Normani & Val 38 (10, 10, 8, 10)
Rashad & Emma 37 (9, 10, 9, 9)
Simone & Sasha 35 (9, 8, 9, 9)
Nancy & Artem 33 (9, 8, 8, 8)
Bonner & Sharna 30 (8, 8, 7, 7)
David & Lindsay 29 (7, 8, 7, 7)
Nick & Peta 28 (7, 7, 7, 7)
Team Boys 33 (8, 9, 8, 8)
Team Girls 34 (8, 9, 8, 9)

To relive all the dances again, see Idolxfactor (these videos work Internationally) and the official You Tube site. For media, recaps, and interviews, first see People and Entertainment Tonight (I’d embed these, but, they won’t stop and go.). People has a few interviews as well. Be sure to check back with them through out the day for possibly more.

Glamour also recapped the show. They have interviews with some of the cast as well. Below is a take with Rashad and David talking about the challenging week. Note that next week, the couples have to learn 4 dances which is going to be even more challenging. Details below.

For Emma’s partner—Rashad—he’s just appreciating every moment. “I look forward to the next chapter, but in the meantime, I’m having a blast dancing. It is helping agility, mobility, awareness of my body, balance. I’m working on core stuff that I’ve never felt before because of dancing. But the main thing is awareness. This is making me be conscious of how I control my body, so now I go train in the mornings, and I can feel a difference. If I could go back to my rookie year [in the NFL], I would have started dancing every off-season.”

Retired Chicago Cub David Ross remains a fan favorite this season of DWTS, but he admitted backstage that he had his toughest week yet. “I was in a bad mood most of the week,” he revealed. “I was traveling back and forth and I just had no energy. But I’m back!”

Lindsay Arnold wasn’t worried, telling me, “I’ve gone through it with all of my partners. You get to week 6 or 7 and you hit a wall. It’s tough and it sets in that this is a lot of work and it starts to build on each other.” OK, but as I mention in my recap below, let’s talk about Coachgate 2017. Is Lindsay the coach, the teammate, or both? “Definitely both!” she laughed. “I’ll whip out Coach Lindsay! Watching the rehearsal package, I was like, ‘Dang, Lindsay! I didn’t know you had that sassy side to you!'”

Next week is movie genre night, and according to David, each couple will have about four dances to learn. So is still being in the competition a blessing or a curse? “I wouldn’t trade this for the world!” David laughed. “I’m having so much fun, and I think last week was just me putting myself through the ringer. Hopefully I learned my lesson.”

More at Glamour with Maks, Heather, Nick Carter (I loved him as a Judge. I hope he does it again in the future), and more.

FOX also has a recap and talked with some of the couples here and here. Interesting note: Heather is writing a dance film and she’d like Julianne to star in it.

Maks added with a laugh, “This is so strange that it’s kind of okay. I feel there was a chance and opportunity for Maks and Heather to develop and to build every single week and we got that cut short…we had to scramble. Alan did an amazing job…I just feel bad that it took so long for me to get back” from injury.

Incredibly, Morris, 30, who showed off a flexible style during the show, confided her back hurt and she learned, “I’m getting a little bit older. My body doesn’t work as well and it’s hard.”

Morris has been writing a dance film that she hopes “DWTS” judge Julianne Hough might consider starring in “because I think she’d be perfect for it but we’ll see how that goes.”

Below are some video interviews before and after the show. There is a rehearsal interview too…. Read more..
