Dancing With The Stars Season 26 Week One Down Over 40% From Last Year’s Premiere

I was afraid of this. From Variety, here are some stats on last night’s ratings. Be sure to read more at the link. My parents always use to say either go all the way with something or not at all. Is this the case for a short season? Even still, 8+ million viewers is still ok, but is it enough?

“Dancing with the Stars” hit a new demo low for a regular episode on Monday with the ABC competition series debuting its all-athletes edition.

Airing from 8-10 p.m, “Dancing With the Stars” averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.5 million viewers. That is down over 40% in the demo from the show’s premiere last spring premiere and approximately 30% in total viewers. The ABC series also lost to “The Voice” over its two-hour broadcast, with the NBC series holding steady for the week with a 1.6 and 8.7 million viewers.

Later on ABC, “The Crossing” (0.5, 3.8 million) was also down in the demo.

After “The Voice,” “Good Girls” (0.9, 4.2 million) was steady.

Dancing With The Stars Renewed For Season 25

Guess what? Dancing With The Stars has been renewed for Season 25!! From Variety….

“Dancing With the Stars” has been picked up for Season 25. The dance competition show, which debuted in 2005, is currently in the midst of its 24th season and will soon crown a winner with the mirror ball trophy. Current hosts are Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, and judges are Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.

All three shows are solid ratings performers for ABC. In its most recent season, “Shark Tank” averaged a 1.2 rating and 5.2 million viewers in Nielsen live-plus-same day numbers; “The Bachelor” a 2.3 and 7.3 million; “Dancing With the Stars” a 1.7 and 10.7 million.

DWTS Season 21 End With A Bang TV Ratings, Tour Additions And Dances, And More

Just some “end of the season” tidbits. According to Disney ABC, “Dancing with the Stars” will return for its 22nd season in 2016 on MONDAY, MARCH 21 from 8:00-10:01 p.m. ET with an all-new cast of celebrities ready to take on the competition and hit the ballroom floor. They are also promising “another season full of surprises and unforgettable dances”.

As you know from Dancing With The Stars this week, Alek Skarlatos has been added to the DWTS Live: “Dance All Night” Tour. According to a press release, there are still more guest stars to be announced. I wonder who they will be? Also, 6 matinees have been added to the tour according this instagram. For tickets, see this link. Below are some dances that will be featured in it…

I think this dance might be featured too. Not sure?:

Lastly, congratulations to Dancing With The Stars ending the season with a big bang! Our show is alive and well and don’t believe anything otherwise if some source tries to tell you something different. I love how in the seasons past some sources out there tried to report that the show was tanking and wouldn’t be around much longer. Well, let the numbers speak for themselves….again. 😀 And Miss Heidi is an expert on this. She can explain it better than anyone we know…

Dancing With The Stars Has Been Renewed For Another Season, 14.8 Million Viewers No Joke

Good news for our favorite show. Dancing With The Stars has been renewed for another season. Below is more from Entertainment Weekly including information on some other shows that have been renewed for another season.

Great news out of ABC: The network has renewed 10 dramas and six comedies.

On the drama side, Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, American Crime, Secrets and Lies and Marvel’s Agent Carter have all scored additional seasons.

As for the comedies, freshman fare black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat join The Goldbergs, The Middle, Modern Family and Galavant. Yes, Galavant.

On the alternative side, America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank and 20/20 have all been renewed.

Below is a take from Hollywood Reporter talking about it’s ratings and why it has been renewed…

Dancing With the Stars
As fellow glossy reality flagships hemorrhage viewers, year to year, Dancing With the Stars’ decline has been more modest. It’s aging gracefully — and though it continues to run the chance of overexposure with those back-to-back runs in the fall and spring, 14.8 million viewers is no joke. The admittedly older-skewing two-hour competition, from BBC Worldwide, also averages a formidable 2.4 rating with adults 18-49. ABC opted to eighty-six the Tuesday results show two years ago. Fall will mark its 21st season.

PureDWTS Season 19 Week 4 Guest Poem: “Memory Books Of A Dance”

What another fabulous new Dancing With The Stars poem from Lois!! Here she is with “Memory Books of A Dance”….

MEMORY BOOKS OF DANCE

Chapters in a book, chapters of life, a memorable year
Representing inspiration, loss, big breaks, lots of fear

Each year memorable and engraved in a Memory Book
Each dancer giving their dances their own special look

The opening, introduction to the Memory Books of Dance
A rousing, resplendent, razzle-dazzle, celebration stance

MEMORY BOOKS OF DANCE

Tears were shed, emotions flowing as an underground spring
Tissues pulled out of tissue boxes, memories were everything Read more..

Afterbuzz TV And Corky Ballas Review DWTS19 Week 4, See If You Agree?

What a great Afterbuzz TV show with Corky Ballas last night! I’ve only watched half the show so far, but let’s just say…he didn’t hold back! I was impressed right in the beginning when he said Sharna Burgess was a “firecracker and beautiful” and that her opening number was “edgy, quick, short, to the point, and HOTT.” Then when the reviews of the couples started, Corky called it straight up about Val and Janel saying their Rumba was “lame”, etc. He would have only given their dance a “7”. I loved it too when Kristyn pointed out Janel’s “flinging wrists” which kind of annoyed me too. Then when they got to Bethany, Corky mentioned how she has a “wall” up (something I noticed too but, couldn’t find the words for). But, as I just wrote at Pure Derek Hough, I didn’t agree about Bethany’s footwork though. I thought it was fine. But, wow, the opinion I really disagreed with was Anna’s. Wha? She would have only given Derek and Bethany a “6” and then compares her to Jonathan? As much as I like Anna, that was way too harsh. More below. Lot’s of great content to discuss and I hope they can get Corky again. Let us know what you think…
