PureDWTS DWTS Juniors, Season 1, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What?
Trying to let the stickied posts breathe a bit, but it looks like this is going to be an ongoing struggle as DWTS27 and DWTSJ1 air concurrently 😛 Here’s the songs and dances for Sunday night’s show, which was taped August 2nd; go here for spoilers on who the high scorers were.
Couples are all dancing to songs from the year the junior celeb was born in.
Akash & Kamri (mentored by Witney) – cha-cha (song: “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz from 2010)
Ariana & Artyon (mentored by Brandon) – jive (song: “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne from 2007)
Alana & Tristan (mentored by Artem) – cha-cha (song: “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls from 2005)
Hudson & Kami (mentored by Hayley) – paso doble (song: “4 Minutes” by Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake from 2008)
Jason & Elliana (mentored by Emma) – jive (song: “Shake It” by Metro Station from 2008)
Kenzie & Sage (mentored by Gleb) – quickstep (song: “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” by Jet from 2004)
Mandla & Brightyn (mentored by Cheryl) – salsa (song: “Pump It” by The Black Eyed Peas from 2005)
Miles & Rylee (mentored by Lindsay) – Argentine tango (song: “I Don’t Want To Be” by Gavin DeGraw from 2004)
Sky & JT (mentored by Alan) – cha-cha (song: “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga feat. Colby O’Donis from 2008)
Sophia & Jake (mentored by Sasha) – foxtrot (song: “Love Story” by Taylor Swift from 2008)
Thoughts: god I’m old. When I first heard “I Don’t Want to Be” I was playing cornhole on the lawn of Kappa Sigs my freshman year of college. One of my coworkers at my first (shitty) job out of college used to play “Shake It” on repeat in the office break room. And I’m pretty sure I would hear “Dynamite” at least 10X on a Saturday night while bar-hopping in downtown Indy during my “party girl” phase. If anyone needs me, I’ll be in my pajamas by 8 PM, washing down my daily dose of ibuprofen with some Earl Grey. 😛
I’ve managed to stay unspoiled (minus knowing that Tripp was a week 1 elimination). But just looking at the styles of the dances and songs…I think they (as the TPTB) would have been ok with losing Hudson, Jason or Sophia this particular week.
I remember when every single one of these songs came out….seriously feeling old right now despite being 28 lol. Anyways, my thoughts:
Akash & Kamri: This is still one of my favorite songs of all time so this makes me very happy that he knows what it is. This should be a fun one.
Ariana & Artyon: This song is catchy and annoying all at once. Brings me right back to my ex who was like obsessed with it and it was her ringtone. Anyways, this should be a fun routine.
Alana & Tristan: Oh Alana lol. This should be awesome given she can sell it.
Hudson & Kami: This kid reminds me of myself and in that sense I am totally rooting for him more than the others (sorry other kids 🙁 ). Saying that, I really am loving that he chose this song.
Jason & Elliana: God I feel old. I remember this blasting in the car as I drove to college and not realizing I had the window open and giving the car behind me a concert. When I realized it, I rolled up that window lol. Gets to class….the driver behind me is the professor. Anyways….this should be fun.
Kenzie & Sage: Do I think she knew what this song was? No. But I am glad she is using it.
Mandla & Brightyn: 🙂 My favorite song of the bunch.
Miles & Rylee: After American Idol, I am so sick of this song lol. This should be amazing though.
Sky & JT: Whatever happened to Colby O’Donis? Can we get him on DWTS? He was a fun guy. Anyways, I am excited for this one.
Sophia & Jake: Only kid that chose Taylor Swift….surprising.
[…] PureDWTS has shared plenty of juicy spoilers tied to Week 2 of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. Unlike the franchise original series, this kid-focused battle was pre-taped over the summer. That means there’s no viewer voting component involved, but not all of the scoop regarding what went down has emerged. […]
I can’t wait for tonight! Luv the line up of songs!! I am curious to see how an Argentine Tango can be danced to that Gavin DeGraw song???? but if anyone can pull off the choreography it’s Lindsay for her team!
