Val Chmerkovskiy Returning For Dancing With The Stars Season 20 – New Interview

In a new interview with MassLive.com, Val Chmerkovskiy talks about being a Pro for Dancing With The Stars and what it’s like to teach. The article also says he will be back for Dancing With The Stars Season 20 and he reports back for work on February 17th….

“You can be an incredible dancer, but it doesn’t mean you will be a great teacher,” said Chmerkovskiy, who began giving lessons at the age of 15.

Key traits, he said, are patience and versatility in choreography – “the ability to acknowledge the strengths of your partner and recognize and camouflage their flaws.”

He said he has maintained friendships of varying levels with his celebrity partners, who have included “Pretty Little Liars” actress Janel Parrish, “Wonder Years”‘ co-star Danica McKellar, talk show host Sherri Shepherd, “General Hospital” actress Kelly Monaco, Disney Channel starlet Zendaya and “Saved By the Bell” alum Elizabeth Berkley Lauren.

“‘Dancing With the Stars’ – as silly as a concept as it is – is a phenomena,” Chmerkovskiy said. “The joy, the hard work, the bond – these people walk away with an experience they cannot replicate anywhere else.”

Chmerkovskiy will return for the 20th season of “DWTS.” He is scheduled to report for work on Feb. 17 – two days after the national tour concludes in Los Angeles.

“I have a spot on the No. 1 show in the world doing what I love,” Chmerkovskiy said. “When I think of the investment and sacrifice my parents made, having this is the greatest gift.”
