Dancing With The Stars Has Been Renewed For Another Season, 14.8 Million Viewers No Joke

Good news for our favorite show. Dancing With The Stars has been renewed for another season. Below is more from Entertainment Weekly including information on some other shows that have been renewed for another season.

Great news out of ABC: The network has renewed 10 dramas and six comedies.

On the drama side, Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, American Crime, Secrets and Lies and Marvel’s Agent Carter have all scored additional seasons.

As for the comedies, freshman fare black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat join The Goldbergs, The Middle, Modern Family and Galavant. Yes, Galavant.

On the alternative side, America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank and 20/20 have all been renewed.

Below is a take from Hollywood Reporter talking about it’s ratings and why it has been renewed…

Dancing With the Stars
As fellow glossy reality flagships hemorrhage viewers, year to year, Dancing With the Stars’ decline has been more modest. It’s aging gracefully — and though it continues to run the chance of overexposure with those back-to-back runs in the fall and spring, 14.8 million viewers is no joke. The admittedly older-skewing two-hour competition, from BBC Worldwide, also averages a formidable 2.4 rating with adults 18-49. ABC opted to eighty-six the Tuesday results show two years ago. Fall will mark its 21st season.

Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Pro Reveal To Take Place Feb. 11th On GMA, Rob Wade Talks To People

Executive Producer of Dancing With The Stars, Rob Wade, talked with People about the new season. Below is a take where he talks of the return of Len Goodman and Erin Andrews. Note how he mentions that the Pro Reveal will take place next week on Good Morning America.

Wade also hints that maybe it’s too soon to prepare for Len Goodman’s departure after the spring season. In December, the senior judge told reporters that traveling back and forth to England has become too overwhelming.

“He says, ‘Let’s see how it goes,’ ” says Wade. “It depends on the health of his mother and how he feels personally about the travel. There’s a good chance he might miss a lot of all next season, but I don’t know though. I think there’s a chance he’ll decide to come back next spring when Dancing with the Stars in the U.K. is not going on.”

And while Leah Remini may have been a hoot as a guest host in the skybox last season, Erin Andrews will stay put as Tom Bergeron’s co-host this year.

“You can get away with having a guest host for one-offs, but there is a lot of business to this live hosting stuff that’s kind of unique. You need a person who has the ability to do that. It’s pretty challenging, that job, and it’s quite thankless. Leah did a great job, but you need a common denominator going though there.”

Dancing with the Stars will reveal the season 10 pros Feb. 11 on Good Morning America. The stars will be introduced later this month in time for the show’s March 16 return on ABC.

More at People.

ADDING: And isn’t this an interesting comment….

Executive Producer Rob Wade told PEOPLE that the departure of Cheryl Burke to NBC and Derek Hough’s show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall shouldn’t change the dynamic of show that will return to ABC for a 20th season in March.

“There is still a huge amount of fan favorites we can bring back,” said Wade, who’s reached out to Anna Trebunskaya, Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus and Louis van Amstel, among others, about returning this season.

I like the pros above, but, none of them are “Derek Hough” in my opinion.

DWTS Season 20 Watchout: Patriot’s Rob Gronkowski Says He’s Healthy To Dance On Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars has asked Rob Gronkowski to dance in the past. Being he’s been hurt in the off seasons, he’s always said no, but, this season might be different being he’s healthy. Check out this fun convo with Rob and Jimmy Kimmel at the 1:39 mark. Thanks to DWTSgossip for another great find. I say bring him on. Hubby definitely agrees and says he’d be funny!

Emma Slater And Valentin Chmerkovskiy Talk On The New Season Of Dancing With The Stars

Just a couple of fun mentions to start our Monday! First, Emma Slater chatted about the new season of Dancing With The Stars in a Q & A at one of the Dancing With The Stars Live shows. Below is a report from the VC Post. Emma mentions how the new season will be “the biggest and most impressive season of Dancing With The Stars ever”. Thanks to Kristyn Burtt for this find…

During the preview of DWTS tour date at the Saenger Theater with Witney Carson and Alfonso Ribeiro in New Orleans, pro Emma Slater dropped some intel for the upcoming anniversary series.

Slater was asked by a reporter if she’s returning amid rumors spreading online about which of the pros may or may not be returning.

She answered the question indirectly by saying, “Actually, we will find that out very shortly and we can’t wait to tell you guys, and give you some information. But what we can tell you is that Season 20 is going to be the biggest and most impressive season of Dancing With The Stars ever. So you have to watch it. It’s going to be huge. There’s going to be initiative.”

Also, Val Chmerkovskiy talked on the new season at one of the Q & A’s. He mentions a return of the Tuesday night shows. What do you think? Thanks to DWTSgossip for this heads up…

Exciting! Bring on this new season!! And I’m game for them bringing back Tuesday shows as long as we see more pro numbers and Macy’s Stars Of Dance with Derek at the helm.

DWTS20 Watchout: Ex-UFC Champ Anderson Silva’s Next Goal Is To Win Dancing With The Stars

What an interesting find by DWTSgossip!! If you head to The Star Phoenix, you can watch a new interview with Ex-UFC champ Anderson Silva. He talks of really wanting to make a difference and “giving back”. Not sure where this fits on the rumor scale, but, I say, bring him on. What do you think?

POSTMEDIA: You were announced as the next coach of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. Which other reality-TV show would you do better in: So You Think You Can Dance or American Idol?

SILVA: (Laughs) I think the next goal in the United States is to go win Dancing With The Stars (laughs).

DWTS20 Watchout: Kenya Moore Would “Absolutely” Do Dancing With The Stars

Just a little something to watch out for just in case. The Souix City Journal is reporting Kenya Moore of Celebrity Apprentice would “absolutely” do Dancing With The Stars. Here is a take from the link…

Rivera says the key to competing on “Apprentice” is to ignore editing and shrug off complaints. “People will work against you. It’s just the nature of the beast.”

Raising money for charity, he says, is most important.

“I don’t know if I’d do another reality show after this.”

“Dancing With the Stars” has asked him repeatedly and he has said no.

Moore, however, says she’d be game for a “Stars” run. “I’m an amazing dancer,” she says. “I was trained from the age of 6. I would absolutely do it and, yes, I would want to win. In everything I do, I play to win.”

So, what do you think? Would she be a good one? Let us know in comments!!

Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Premiere Date Set, ABC President Paul Lee Calls The Show “A Powerhouse”

It’s official! The premiere date for Dancing With The Stars Season 20 has been set for March 16th. Here is more from ABC Media net. Adding: As Kristyn Burtt said at twitter, this news also confirms no “all-star” season…

ABC today announced the premiere dates for the 10 year anniversary edition of “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, MARCH 16 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), and a special 25th anniversary episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET).

“Dancing With the Stars” returns for its 20th season with an all-new celebrity cast– to be announced at a later date — who will brave the dance floor for the first time. Each week, these celebrities will leave their comfort zones and endure hours of grueling rehearsals to master technical choreography and entertaining performances. In the end, only one star will rise above the rest to be crowned champion and win the coveted mirror-ball trophy.

Hosted by Emmy® Award-winning Tom Bergeron (“America’s Funniest Home Videos”) and Erin Andrews, “Dancing with the Stars” is the hit series in which celebrities perform choreographed dance routines judged by renowned ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough.

Also, at the Television Critics Association conference today, ABC President Paul Lee said ABC is thrilled with how they’ve sustained “Dancing with the Stars,” calling it a powerhouse. To read a live blog of the conference going down, see Hit Flix and TV Line.
