DWTS Season 17 Rumor: Philanthropist Scott Lazerson With Chelsie Hightower As His Partner?
What a morning so far! Who needs coffee to get a person going when you have new Dancing With The Stars rumors? lol First we had a rumor with country singer Jo Dee Messina and now check out this Instagram. Scott Lazerson is a famous philanthropist. Could he possibly be doing Dancing With The Stars? What’s more, could Chelsie Hightower be his new partner? Or is this just a joke between them? Interesting, either way. Let us know what you think?
Thanks to John for the find and Court for the help this morning!!!
[…] Chelsie could be “possibly in”. See this post for more […]
It’s times like these when I’m thankful that our brave and fearless leader is Mormon – and that Mormons are extraordinarily well-connected, otherwise I don’t know that this would be on our radar 😛
This is actually a really interesting rumor to me – this is the first philanthropist/entrepreneur we’ve had since Mark Cuban, and at that, Scott also has a rather interesting claim to fame: he’s basically a “professional networker”, which could explain how he was able to wrangle a spot on the show. Check out this article about him in Forbes…it’s a good read.
@Courtney, you’re right. It’s an interesting read. If he’s on, I hope he’s going to be an interesting competitor, too.
To me he sounds more like a professional schmoozer who gets people to pay him for introductions more than a philanthropist. His main claim to fame seems to be knowing famous people and running a charity for Larry King. Maybe he’s managed to help connect someone to the show. Honestly IDK why the show would want him. I think this post might be a joke since apparently he was hanging with Chelsie.
Mark Cuban, on the other hand, was a well known billionaire, a very succesful businessman and a public personality, since he received a lot of publicity through his basketball team and charitable works.
I’m gonna assume you couldn’t be bothered to read the whole article, KarenT, because it does go into detail about how he does quite a bit of charity work…and doesn’t necessarily command a big salary for it. And really, the fact that he’s able to network like he does seems like a pretty admirable talent to me…ever heard the phrase “you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar”? As to why the show would want him – he’s a religious, conservative family man that does charity work – that fits right in with the main viewing demographic of DWTS. And considering this guy is a professional networker…imagine what kind of doors that could open for future casting if TPTB at DWTS can get in good with this guy. This could be a VERY strategic move on their part.
Scott Lazerson does not fit the planned “younginization” of DWTS, but he could fit the demo.
Yes, read the whole article and acknowledge he does charity work. Also read other articles that talk about the controversy with NuSkin.
I’m a big girl and know the world works by making connections, but that that doesn’t mean I’m a fan of people who “cultivates ‘friendships’ ” for professional gain. That’s just a personal opinion.
Bottom line, I’m still not sure what makes him famous, which I thought was the idea of DWTS. I guess if they think they can gain a casting director by letting him dance a season, more power to them. He might be a fun addition to the show..
Chelsie & Scott have been friends for a while now. So it isn’t the first time they’ve been together. His comment is interesting but I guess we’ll just have to wait & see…
This is interesting. My only question would be, Are they allowed to announce that they are on the show?
Sandy (and Carolyn on the JoDee rumor topic) have asked the question that came to my mind, too. Vogue and Court, what do you think?
Have TPTB loosened their “no talk” policy or have Tony K, JoDee, and Scott talked more openly about their contact with DWTS than they should have?
I can’t imagine he’ll have any kind of fan base, but if he knows “everybody who’s anybody”, his connections might go to bat for him on Twitter to drum up votes.
I don’t know who he is but I like the idea of maybe seeing Chelsie back!
I’ve never head of him before now but if him being on means that Chelsie is back then I’m all in!!
I read it to be written in a joking around tone, as they are friends/friendly, but who knows?
I’m not sure (maybe Court can shed more light on this), but, I sometimes wonder if TPTB doesn’t let a few of them talk a little(just a little) just to keep some buzz going for promo?
That’s what I thought too Vogue, trying to build up some preseason buzz. I also wonder if with some who might not be in their first tier of choices, they want to see if that person can create buzz, if not, don’t sign them kind of thing?? They must keep a few second choice kind of people hanging around while they hope to close the deal with someone they perceive to be a big draw.
Thanks Vogue and Jess, very plausible explanations there. It’s a bit hard to control that kind of publicity, but I suppose at the interview they could say, “if you want to put out a little teaser tweet about this to see how your fans react, we’re OK with that. But if we come to terms and sign you, you have to keep that secret.”
