Mario Lopez Doesn’t Think He’ll Be Able To Do Dancing With The Stars Again
Mario Lopez was the first to “let the cat out of bag” when he mentioned there would be a Dancing With The Stars All-Star season on LIVE With Kelly. He also mentioned that the producers have called him to do the show, but, he wasn’t sure about coming back. Today, TV Guide is reporting he doesn’t think he’ll be able to do it. Below is more…
Talking about casting before the official announcement is a no-no. Now Lopez says, “I’m really busy, so I don’t think I’ll be able to do it. I don’t watch the show and didn’t even watch when I was on it. My mom wanted me to do it.”
Hmmm,…not sure what to think? I tend to think he could be persuaded. I don’t take this as a definite “no” yet, do you?
ADDING: Below is a tweet from Mario after this story broke out;
@TVGuideMagazine #DWTS I never said I won't be doing DWTS, I said I'm extremely busy and I don't know yet…

Come on, Mario! He is on my wish list – but only if he dances with Karina.
And the endless parade of “thanks, but no thanks” that is the DWTS All-Star season continues…*sigh* 🙁
Maybe I’m just being hypercritical, but Mario actually sounds kinda snotty to me here. “I don’t watch the show and didn’t even watch when I was on it. My mom wanted me to do it.” He acts like he didn’t even want to do it in the first place, and that it was some sort of bad experience – could’ve fooled me. He seemed to be enjoying every minute of it when he was on the show, and I daresay he has DWTS to credit for the sudden influx of hosting gigs he got after he did the show. It’s one thing for a star who had a really negative experience on the show (i.e. Ralph Macchio) to look back at the show with a bad taste in their mouth, but for someone like Mario, who arguably benefitted pretty greatly from doing the show to suddenly brush it off and act like it was a huge burden? Kinda off-putting to me. If that’s how he thinks of his time on DWTS, then maybe I don’t think he’s all-star material, after all…
Couldn’t have said it better. Mario is not someone I want to see again at all. Though he was a good dancer.
Could it be because of Karina that he doesn’t want to do it again. I know they dated after the show ended but I am not 100% sure how badly their relationship ended so maybe he doesn’t want to dance with her again.
He and Karina got along pretty nicely when she went with JR to do the show and even brought Gia, his daughter, a present. Her and Mario exchanged pleasantries.
I don’t think it has anything to do with Karina – I just think Mario’s gotten too big for his britches and thinks DWTS is below him now. I have to wonder if it’s a sentiment shared by more that a few of the celebs who’ve turned down the all-star season so far – maybe their career was in a slump when they did the show, but they’re back in the game now…and they don’t think they need to do DWTS again.
I think Courtney, perceptive as usual, hit the nail on the head with comment #6. Yup.
Wow! I just saw how much Mr. Lopez is “worth”….he doesn’t need to do the show again, that’s for sure. OMGosh…that house! That CourtneyM will hold on tight lol.
Mario never said he won’t do dwts. His words.

Thanks Maddy. I added Mario’s tweet to TV Guide to the post.
And C, I couldn’t agree more!!
Psssh, semantics. I think Mario’s just trying to save face at this point…saying “I’m busy and I don’t think I’ll be able to” basically says to me “Don’t hold your breath, chances are slim.” Even him saying “I never said I wouldn’t do DWTS!!!” does little to change my opinion that he probably won’t be back.
I hope Mario Lopez will NOT be back. IMO, there is just something very slick about him that is almost icky, but others like him well enough, so maybe it is just me.
He definately got flack for just brushing it off and saying probably not becuase of hsi schedule (which basically is ABDC and Extra) and realized his fans might get peeved so he def is trying to save face.
@Deena. Nope,not just you. Me too.
Me three. I get the impression that Mario Lopez’s biggest fan is Mario Lopez. My mom had me watching that reality series he & Mazza did a little while back while she was pregnant with Gia, and he just seemed so…self-absorbed. Courtney would be having some issue at home (aches, pains, the dog running away, etc), and Mario would always seem to brush it off, like “Sorry baby, I’m busy at work, deal with it, yadda yadda yadda.” Absentee baby daddy. I swear, he paid Julio (that cute little French bulldog he has) more attention than he did his pregnant girlfriend. That show really kinda left a bad taste in my mouth about Mario…and Mama Spence can’t stand him now, either. She’s got a pretty good 3rd eye when it comes to feeling people out, and she says he’s no good. I trust my mama 🙂
Ah….I think Courtney finally hit it on the nail as to why I didn’t like Mario too much. He probably wants a guarantee he’d win DWTS All Stars.
I was put off by Mario’s statements as well. It’s okay to admit not watching dwts, but he should have been more gracious about it. I really don’t care to see him next season anyway. I just don’t find him interesting and I get a sense he’s a bit vain.
I agree with everything everyone else is saying. Even back in his Saved By the Bell days, I was never too keen on Mario. I was a Zack Morris girl 🙂 Boy, I’d love to see MPG on DWTS one day. He would never do it, though 🙁
