PureDWTS Season 24, Week 6 – Nick Carter to Guest Judge for Boy Bands vs. Girl Groups Night

So apparently season 21’s Nick Carter is going to be posting up at the judges’ table on Monday night, per People – I assume he’s filling in for Julianne, who started the Move Beyond tour last night.

Backstreet’s back!

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that Monday’s Dancing with the Stars will feature iconic songs from famous girl groups and boy bands and Backstreet Boys’ own Nick Carter will be sliding into the guest judge’s seat. Audiences will also see the return of pro-dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who has been sidelined following his calf injury.

Not sure how I feel about this one – I don’t think Nick’s going to be a bad judge, per se; I just don’t know how insightful he’s really gonna be, and I can’t decide if Bonner dancing to a BSB song is more of a blessing or a curse – I’m leaning towards the latter. Eh, given Julianne’s track record so far this season, I suppose Nick filling in could probably be an improvement…

UPDATE: Well with the way the press release is worded, it’s sounding like there’s going to be FIVE judges on Monday.  Yes, you read that – FIVE.  Not sure if it’s a time-filling measure (doubt it), or an attempt to close up the margins with another extra set of points, but it smells fishy. I’m not convinced yet that there’ll actually be five judges (those press releases are usually boiler plate, and probably get copied & pasted from the previous week’s with just a few things added), but if there is, week 7’s elim could get interesting…

Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess Talks On Nick Carter At Vanity Fair Pre-Oscar Party – Video

Entertainment Tonight caught up with Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess attended the Vanity Fair, L’Oreal Paris, & Hailee Steinfeld Pre-Oscar Party. They asked her on Nick Carter and his arrest. Sharna says he’s family and still remains supportive.

“I texted him straight away as soon as I heard,” she revealed. “He told me really what was going on and it’s just a shame that these things get splashed all over the media, blown out of proportion and taken the wrong way. He’s such a good person.”

“Once I heard his story it all made sense,” she continued. “You know, like I said, he’s family to me. So, the minute I heard I texted him to make sure he was OK and to get the true story. You never know what you hear.”

DWTS21 Sharna Burgess Writes Of How Proud She Is Of Nick Carter, Teases On Next Week’s Dances

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Hollywood Life. She writes of how proud she is of Nick this week and what’s happening in his life. She also gives a tiny preview for what’s taking place for their next dances. Read more below and at the link.

Nick really brought all of his emotion to the dance tonight. He didn’t want to watch the video package that aired just before the dance because he didn’t want to get too overwhelmed, but I saw in his eyes and in all of those moments as we were dancing the love that he has for his for his wife and how much this meant to him. And at the end of the dance when he dropped to one knee because he was so overjoyed with everything that’s happening in his life — it was truly a beautiful moment! All I could do was try to find Lauren to go there and be next to him; they are just such a beautiful couple and love each other so much. I am so happy about the news that a new Backstreet Boy is coming to the family; what an amazing reveal! I know he will be an incredible dad, and I’m so excited for him to start this new journey with Lauren. As his coach, I couldn’t be more proud of him, and as his friend, I couldn’t be happier for him.

Next week, we have a whole new challenge that we have never before on the show where we have to travel to another city with another couple. We have to watch a show, and create another number inspired by it to perform next Monday as well as an individual competition dance so it going to be really intense and a lot of pressure, but I know Nick can handle it. We’re also really excited to be working with this particular couple (to be announced!) as we absolutely adore them and they are so talented.

Sharna Burgess Blogs about Nick Carter and DWTS Week 7

Below is an excerpt from Hollywood Life – click the link to read the whole thing. Can I say that I absolutely hate the idea of “Icon” night?? Good lord, give it a rest, producers. These themes are ridiculous. I expect Nick will get immunity since he’s doing a contemporary against Bindi’s foxtrot. Figures.

Our Argentine Tango may not have been received well by the judges tonight, however he really did step up to the plate in such a difficult week. We had to change a lot of our choreography on Sunday because the bed of roses on our stage was so big, and I only had an hour to change that on him; so everything considered, Nick performed beautifully. He was so strong, he was calm, he didn’t forget one step, and took care of me every step of the way especially in that lift which was not easy. Even though our scores weren’t what Nick wanted, and he did get critiqued for the Argentine Tango, he came back ready to give his all for our team dance, and to be the team leader that he knew he should be. He rallied everybody together, he brought everybody in and really helped deliver the performance of the night.

Going into next week, Icons week, we have an awesome song, highlighting a wonderful icon that I can’t wait to tell the story about. We have contemporary for our style of dance, which I think is going to suit him beautifully. I’m going to drill him on his lines and his posture, and put to work all of the notes that Carrie Ann gave us because I know he wants to make her proud and I know that Nick is waiting for that moment when he turns around and she says, “You did it!”

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Sharna Burgess And Nick Carter Super Excited About Halloween Week

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Hollywood Life. Nick got a perfect score in her eyes (I thought so too!). She and Nick are also excited about next week’s dances too. Read on and click the link to see more.

Samba is a very difficult dance with a lot of footwork, and I have to say Nick nailed it tonight and in my eyes was a perfect score.

Next week is Halloween week, and Halloween is also Nick’s favorite holiday celebration…EVER! I can’t say much yet about our plans, but we are super excited about this one!!! There is also a team dance with pros and stars together next week which we’re looking forward to. I can’t say much about that either just yet, but know it’s going to be so epic, I can’t wait!!!

Lastly Nick and I would like to give a massive thank you to all of our amazing #teamSharNick fans and supporters that have been dialing in and voting every week! We adore you so much and your support for us is what’s keeping us in this competition and we hope to continue doing you proud each week. Let’s take it all the way to the finals!!!
