Karina Smirnoff And Apolo Ohno Working On Hip Action And More in DWTS Rehearsals

Thanks to @Jimmbboe (and a heads up from Alicia), below is a rehearsal interview with Karina Smirnoff and Apolo Ohno from E News. As said in a previous post, we would have posted this last week, but, E News took it down (either that, or they moved it and I couldn’t find it?). Anyway, here ya go. Karina points out that Apolo needs some work on his hip action, but, they are full of chemistry, hard work, and fun. Check them out!

Gilles Marini Interviewed About The Pressures Of Dancing Again, Peta Murgatroyd, And More

Gilles Marini tells The Examiner that he’s worried about “connecting” with the audience with his first two dances on Dancing With The Stars. He also speaks about Peta, the competition, and what he’s looking forward to the most.

E:It’s only a week before the show! How will this season be more special or different for you than last time?

GM: This season is a celebration. Yes, people will compete but I am not paying so much attention to that. I wanna shine and show all my fans out there that it was worth it to tune in and watch our dances.

E:Which dance are you looking forward to the most?

GM: For sure not the first 2. We have the Foxtrot and the Jive. I am really worried about connecting with my audience with those 2. [They are] very, very hard and clearly not the most sexy dances. But hey, let’s see if I survive that. Then my favorite dances are coming: Tango, Paso, Salsa and more – [they’re] awesome!

E:What is the best thing about Peta as a partner?

GM: In a couple words: She is kind, calm, honest, classy, talented, respectful, professional, driven and loving!

E:I know you’re a fierce competitor, but you also like to have fun. Who do you think is your biggest competition?

GM: Every one of them. But I don’t even think of it. I am an actor that is trying to make people happy by performing. That is all I am concentrating on. I want to work very hard and make everyone remember every single one of our dances. I am my worst critic and that is enough pressure—just from myself.

I love what he says about Peta. You can read the full interview at
The Examiner.

DWTS15 Kirstie Alley Talks Of Weight Struggles And How Much Dancing Helps Her

Today Kirstie Alley was on the Dr. Oz Show. She talks of her weight struggles and gave tips on how to lose weight and what motivates her. She mentions dancing and how much it’s helps her. Dancing just makes her happy.

You can watch some video footage from her appearance at Dr. Oz’s official site here. Kirstie also shares some of her recipes which you can view on his homepage.

Also, Nerdles.com has a great review of the show. Here’s just a small take from the link about how her weight got out of control.

Dr. Oz asks her how she got so fat in the first place. Kirstie Alley says that as Hollywood actress, she finally came to the point where she stopped caring so much about what other people said or thought, and just wanted to be a mom and bake. And yes, it was being a mom and baking that made Kirstie Alley fat. Kirstie seriously jokes that baking and drinking 12 grape sodas a day is what made her fat.

Growing up, Kirstie says she never had any problems with her weight. She’d eat and her body would immediately burn it off on it’s own. It was never something she had to consciously think about as a child. She then reveals she had menopause at age 41 and was completely shocked because no one in her family or anyone else she knew had menopause at such a young age. But then again, she does admit that no one in her family had been a cocaine addict either. About her weight gain, Kirstie says that when she was gaining weight and was not happy with the way her body looked, “it was clear I was not going to have any sex unless he was blind.”

You can read the full review at Nerdles.com.

Drew Lachey Talks On His Music, His Wife And Family, And How DWTS Will Be Different The Second Time

Wonderwall interviewed Drew Lachey all about his family, new music projects, and his new gig on Dancing With The Stars. He talks of what will be different this time around on the show. Also, did you know his wife (pictured above) is a is a professional dancer and choreographer?

What’s it like heading back to the competition on “Dancing With the Stars?”

It’s a little surreal to be going back into the ballroom again. Obviously I had a great run with it the first time around and did tours after that, so it’s not weird to be dancing again, it’s just strange to be back in that whirlwind again. When I did it the first time, my wife was 9 months pregnant. I had so much stuff going on in my head dealing with my personal life that the show was just like this giant tornado that scoops you up. But now going back into it, I obviously have a better idea of what to expect, a better idea of what the time commitment is, and a better idea how to manage my life and my time.

How do you compare as a competitor this time around?

I’ve become a much more confident performer. Even though I’ve been touring since I was 19 and doing shows, I’m much more confident in my abilities now. That being said, I have a lot more perspective being a father of two and living outside of Los Angeles. I know what’s important to me in my life, and I’m not going to lose sight of that or get swept up into the chaos that can ensue. Obviously, I’m six years older than I was last time I did it. My knees are six years older. My back is six years older. But I feel in better shape going into it this time than I did the first time, and I feel better prepared mentally to handle the challenges that come with it.

Your wife, Lea Dellecave Lachey, is a professional dancer and choreographer. How much does she help you with your routines?

She’s very, very adamant about not having too many cooks in the kitchen, but when I ask her opinion, she’ll give it honestly. She’ll tell me which criticism or critique from the judges I really need to focus on. There is an element of wanting to have my work life [in the ballroom] and then be able to come home and not think about it and obsess about it. But the fact that I know that she’ll give me an honest opinion after she sees it is comforting.

I’m so excited to see Drew and Anna dance. Lots more at Wonderwall including some great pics!!

According to the Daily Mail, they “seemed to be having a great time as they pranced around the hallowed turf in their team shirts, which had their names embroidered on the back.” You can read more on them and the game at the Daily Mail. Bristol Palin Thinks It’s Going To Be A Lot Better On DWTS This Time Around

Bristol Palin tells The Insider that she’s “not a little kid anymore”. She’s grown up a lot in the last few years since she danced the on Dancing With The Stars the first time. Below is more and you can also view a video at the link (which I had trouble getting to work). She also says she thinks she will be a lot better this time around and is glad to have Mark as a partner again.

“I think I’ve just grown up a lot in the last two years,” Palin said when asked to compare her two experiences on the dancing show. “I’m not just like a little a kid anymore….I think that’s just going to add to the performance factor a bit.”

The daughter of former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin, turned 20 during her first appearance on Dancing and will turn 22 during the upcoming All-Stars season. Alongside her maturation, Palin has also improved her physique but wouldn’t share her secrets to getting fit.

“I’ve been more active now. My son’s three-and-a-half so he’s running all over the place all the time,” she said. “[I’m] just chasing after him…I’m just a lot more active; [I] can’t spill my secrets, sorry.”

Although she wouldn’t unveil her diet and fitness regimen that helped her get fit, she reveled in the result of her efforts and believes that her new figure will help her on the show.

“I think it’s going to be a lot better this time around because there’s a lot more confidence,” said Palin, who is paired once again with Mark Ballas as her professional dance partner. “I think that that will show in the dancing.”

I thought she had too much confidence the first time around? I’m not sure I’m ready for more? We’ll see?

And speaking of Mark, if interested you can see him performing for KIIS FM here. Mark played a mix of “Waiting On the World To Change” by John Mayer, “Rude Boy” by Rihanna, and “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers.
