URGENT PUREDWTS PSA: HELP STOP SOPA/PIPA FROM STEALING YOUR INTERNET FREEDOM!

It’s pretty rare on Pure DWTS that we bring up anything even related to politics (except when a politician is on the show I guess). We try to keep a laser focus on all things DWTS. However, none of us at Pure DWTS can resist not talking about the issue known as SOPA and PIPA. This is legislation that’s going through Congress and the House that has terrible consequences.

Rather than try and explain all the details of this terribly misguided sloppy legislation (although Courtney started down this road), it’s probably more compelling to just keep it simple and point to a few major websites that are blacking out their websites today in order to #StopSOPA and #StopPIPA.

Here are a few and we can add more if you’re interested since there are thousands:
Wikipedia
Google
WordPress

Also, I think this video provides a basic overview of how messed up SOPA and PIPA are:

You’ll also notice that we blacked out the Pure DWTS logo and Twitter avatars in support of this effort as well. Some out there will argue that SOPA and PIPA are aimed at protecting copyright. We’re all for efforts to protect copyright holders. We have people steal the content from Pure DWTS all the time. However, SOPA and PIPA do little to stop any copyright infringers and have potentially disastrous consequences.

Don’t take our word for it though, check it out yourself and if you agree, let your congressman know.

DWTS Lacey Schwimmer “Close your eyes and dance like there is no one in the room!”

Fit Bottomed Girls has a new interview up with Dancing With The Stars pro Lacey Schwimmer. Lacey talks of how working with Lady Foot Locker’s VIP Program has enabled her to help all women feel good about their bodies! She also comments that there is no one style of dancing is “better” than another when trying to keep toned and fit….”just remember to move! Close your eyes and dance like there is no one in the room!” She gives more advise in a take below….

FBG: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?LS: Be myself; don’t try to be something you are not. It’s helped me stay grounded in this crazy world!

FBG: What’s the No. 1 tip you can give our readers to be healthier, happier and more fit?
LS: I know I say this a lot, but its so true: just keep moving! If you’re having trouble doing my videos, just walk around the block for a few days, get your stamina going and work up to my videos. Who knows? Maybe someday you will be on DWTS!

FBG: Anything else you’d like to add or tell our FBG readers?
LS: Always love yourself!

Be sure to read more at Fit Bottomed Girls. There is a small mention on Dancing With The Stars as well.

Also, you can read a previous post on Lacey promoting Ladies Foot Locker here too if you missed it.

Dancing With The Stars Louis Van Amstel Promotes New LaBlast DVDs On GMA (Video)

Louis Van Amstel was a guest on Good Morning America today to promote his new LaBlast dance/fitness DVDs. He talks of how much dancing has effected his partners on Dancing With The Stars physically. They become a different person like with Kelly Osbourne. He says “dancing is a workout in disguise” and “anyone can do it” no matter what size you are. They preview one of his DVDs. Looks fun. If you’d like to know more on Louis’ new LaBlast DVDs and how you can order them, visit Louis’ LaBlast Fitness site.

PureDWTS Exclusive! An Interview with Randall Christensen, Part II

Last week, we gave you part one of our exclusive interview with Randall Christensen, the costume designer for season 2-12 of DWTS.  Now read on for more insight from the man behind the costumes…as well as some exciting news! 😀

What are some of the shows that stood out for you the most when you costumed them, and why? (i.e. certain theme nights, specific seasons, finales, etc.)

Randall Christensen:  Movie/Broadway or TV night is always great fun.  We get to step out of character even more.  If you can dream it up, SOMEONE will wear it!  Themed nights are always fun.  Loved the Halloween show back several years ago.  Edyta as Morticia Addams (The Addams Family), Monique Coleman/Louis van Amstel in their “Ghostbusters” tear away coveralls, to “slime” green…..great fun!  Doing specific time periods are fun and challenging as well.  Doing a retro ‘50’s Paso Doble for Nicole Scherzinger was one of the most challenging, as the Paso Doble is so serious and passionate, yet the ‘50’s inspired song just didn’t go…..but Derek is a genius with choreography, and we came up with a fun yet strong look for them both.

If you could pick any of the pros, past or present, on the show to be your assistant, who would it be and why?

RC:  Hands down, Edyta Sliwinska would be a great co-designer.  She has such an eye for style!  Lacey Schwimmer has some really fun, “out there” and cutting edge ideas too.

What was the best part of your job on DWTS?

RC:  Hands down, the best part of my job was the trust of the producers, and being able to create with such freedom.  You just do NOT get that in the television industry, and that was the most rewarding thing I can imagine.  Weekly, the most rewarding part of my job was when Harold Wheeler and orchestra start playing the overture, there’s not a week that went by that I was ALWAYS there, with shivers running down my spine.  When those couples came down that stairway……truly a magical moment each and every week.  I never missed that descending down the stairs at the top of the show – NEVER!
